Slorm Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 I'm not much into celebs as a rule, but he was an exceptional actor and that last scene from Blade Runner still wrings a tear from my eyes when I see it. RIP
Celedhring Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 I've seen just about every Rutger Hauer movie out there...Loved every one of them. Some of of my favorites: Flesh+Blood, Blade Runner, Blind Fury (hilarious as hell) and The Hitcher. He was awesome in The Hitcher. (remake sucked by comparision)
NoirXiaoba Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 The last celebrity death that caused so much emotional pain for me was the one of Carrie Fisher. T_T He'll be missed.

Dakuryon Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Why do all the good people in this world keep dying?! My heart is beyond broken at this loss ... ?

Pork Type Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 No media coverage, no nothing. What political crime did he commit?

"He got old and that's boring". <-- Mainstream opinion, is my guess.. If he had died of an overdose on his 27th, or right after Blade Runner, he would have went into history as one of the major talents in acting, mentioned in the same breath with River Phoenix, James Dean, Heath Ledger.. but he got old enough to be forgotten by the mainstream. No interest from mainstream means 'no advertising income on the news' which means 'not on the news'.
Celedhring Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 What was the name of the movie that Rutger and Mimi Rogers was in...it was a prison type of movie where they had those exploding collars? Googled it...it was Deadlock. It's actually not bad at all.
Reginald_001 Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 I remember seeing that in the cinema.
D_ManXX2 Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 He will indeed be missed. what was weird is that after the burrial the news came out several days later ?? But by then he was already burried.. Sad day indeed for my country The Netherlands. lost a great Actor.

It's totally weird that the family wanted privacy for the funeral?? Completely a (((mystery))) that his super private family waited until the services were over in country where (((privacy laws))) are still respected?? Seriously, did you even give 5 seconds of thought before you hit the post button...

Other stars got more coverage in the media then he did. they did not even play his film like what usually happens when a star died .. That was the part i was aiming at.. btw when news came out he was already burried for several days. When your star like he was you dont keep it out of the media you know. Quote Completely a (((mystery))) that his super private family waited until the services were over in country where (((privacy laws))) are still respected?? Who is being disrepectfull now Netherlands dont respect privacy anymore. you should know that if your from their like i am.. Please stop derailing this topic.

27X Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Has nothing to do with antisemitism. Has rather a bit more with do with everything being part of the conspiracy for the poster, nevermind the person in question kept his family life private for his entire career. Per your usual if the fruit was any lower you'd be digging in the dirt, especially when accusing a person of mixed race heritage of nazism, no comment. Ergo the reason politics and religion don't get discussed here (or anywhere else sensible) is you, not me.

Sometimes, it feels like '80s Charlestown around this place. ...Which, is utterly ridiculous. This is just a stupid fucking gaming forum, made up of a bunch of disparate misfits.

No, I don't have to lay anything out, that's the point, esp given that two moderators were participating in the thread and both happen to understand what the word context means. But hey you got to show how smugly ~sniff~ superior your politics are once again in a forum where that kind of thing is only supposed to show up where it concerns making adult games not adult and making mature digital interaction taboo to spare the childrens from the evils of rampant reproduction. The best part is where you missed the post where I posted an entire movie Rutger starred in that shows the depths of what nazis might be capable of in a world where people chose to look the other way instead of standing up to their utter horseshit, which makes your post just that much more biblically obtuse. Maybe you should watch that movie, and then perhaps in the future engage some contextual oversight before hitting the post button next time when you think people need to have exactly the same thoughts about a subject as you do, cause last time I checked opinions aren't laws, and laws made based on opinion tend to be pretty fucking flimsy long term. Maybe also watch Escape from Sobibor while you're at it, that's a movie with Rutger Hauer in it.

I've got some damage control to do. Especially, after recently participating in another thread, somewhere on here, in which I advocated taking a step back, and appreciating context. Pretty ironic. Sometimes, I suck. Let's try to move on.
srayesmanll Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 The first Rutger Hauer movie I remember seeing was Nighthawks (with Stallone and Billy Dee Williams). I remember liking the move and really liking RH. He really stood out in it. I then saw Layhawke which became one of my favorite all-time movies. The Hitcher as well is a favorite of mine (he was so damn menacing in it). It was years later that I saw Blade Runner (not sure why I didn't see it earlier), and the movie and RH as Roy Batty were awesome. And then to find out years later that his death scene in it was completely ad-libbed by him was just impressive. He will be missed. RIP.
