Niittäjä Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 (edited) I have not touched Skyrim since Wednesday and now when I tried to start it the game crashes as soon as the main menu appears. Anyone got something like this before? I have not changed anything since last I played it. What would be the best approach to start troubleshooting this? Edited July 16, 2021 by Niittäjä
Aylis Posted July 16, 2021 Author Posted July 16, 2021 @Exaelitus 1. Put pictures into spoilers! 2. Havn't seen something like this before. From your description it sounds like a problem with the LO. Recheck the groups 'PC' and 'NPC'.

Check your Netscript Framework log in Override to have a sense of what happened when the game crashes. In my exp, game crashing on game start usually means missing master esp. Check your load order. If you use MO2, see its warning log. Maybe you try to update mods.

It could fix some issues sometimes.

w0883g0ngz Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Hey there, uneducated modder installing their SSE copy with mods by using the base modlist Aylis has provided here. I've been going through the list one mod at a time with no found issues (in game or out of it) up until I went to install the Skyrim 2020 Parallax addons. Aylis' install tips mention only installing Version 8.0 but it would seem that the desired files have been archived - recently too. About a month ago, user wollboi mentioned that though the Skyrim 2020 Parallax mod has updated and changed significantly, the V8.0 files were still available (at least, as I'm writing this post). I hate to be that guy, but I'm kinda out of my depth here. I'll do what I can looking for other places these files may have been posted, reading up on the nature of the files and if there's a work around but I'm not gonna fiddle with something that I don't understand. Just seemed like something that should be brought up. Also, big thanks to Aylis posting this guide and everyone else contributing to it. Supremely helpful resource.
Millicent Bystander Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 anyone have an idea why this might happen, as far as I can tell there is only 1 mod altering the terrain in windhelm so not sure why the dock is covered like this. Spoiler
wollboi Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 (edited) @w0883g0ngz @Aylis Yeah, I was about to bring this up too. Noticed it yesterday. The 8.0 files for the Roads and Whiterun Streets are still there, but for the main file they're no longer up. Very frustrating. More or less unrelated - I noticed this when trying to get this list to work with Skyrim VR. Guess what? It does ... doesn't ... sort of ... maybe. I was fine until I got to the Weather & Lighting section actually. I obviously ended up having to leave out a lot of stuff, but got it working very stably until I added Rudy ENB. I think it's just too much for it to handle. Framerate tanked. Rolled it back and removed the ENB-specific mods and it was still working fine, but when it came time to run FNIS the entire thing shat the bed and I'm too tired to mess with it anymore. Moral of the story I think is that on a casual playthrough, Skyrim VR is fine but with the bizarre way that SE mods don't work with VR (but they do (except when they don't (which is most of the time really))) a list like this one is going to be way too intricate to work. Not being able to see your character (very well) with Sexlab involved kind've defeats the purpose. The texture mods really improved it quite a bit, but even then something was way off. Like highly textured objects become very pretty flat blobs that just doesn't happen with this list in SSE. But it was a fun way to waste 12 hours of my life. Edited July 17, 2021 by wollboi 1
lopwss Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 does anybody know if sinfulCBP still works with CBBE 3BA?
axz2 Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 This seems like a very useful utility - EasyNPC - "Painlessly mix, merge, and resolve conflicts and compatibility issues for all of your NPC overhauls." - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/52313
unnameable Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 @axz2 I tried that out, but it failed after reporting a lot of errors. I will keep an eye out for updates and better instructions.

Next time i play skyrim (currently playing fallout) i'll see how it does, I use several replacers not on the "approved by aylis" list. From reading the page it looks like it acts like bashed to put the facegen files and texture files you want to use together to avoid the blackface bug, You COULD do the same manually and hide the conflict you don't want, but it takes alot of time if you are going npc by npc. EDIT: If you take the time to actually know which mod changes facegen and behaviors, plus take the time to go through the NPC list one by one and choose the facegen and behavior file you want it could be useful, however. when i had it made and active (takes 3 .esp slots btw) every orc and about 80% of the people in windhelm were all black faced, turn it off and no blackface. (for the record i used it's default choices since it was the entire mod list except for hern, hert and serana, and i still have not gotton to serana quest wise so i can't see her and see if the behavior file change i specified works.) Since i did a quick test and not 4-5 days of tweaking and building each npc as i really should have.. well.. it would be very time consuming for a beginner. w0883g0ngz Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 Hey, very embarrassing problem here...but I'm trying to install the Aylis body type preset and its CBBE file, and neither are showing up at all in Bodyslide studio. I've tried looking around a bit, and found nothing helpful in regards to installing a character preset mod for SSE via mo2. Those that do just have the preset on-show appear in the studio without a hitch. I thought all I had to do was install the mods via Mo2, run bodyslide, select the preset body & skin then create some morphs. But they're nowhere to be seen. Have I done something stupid? Am I forgetting something? Do the files need to be manually installed into SKSE, Racemenu, Bodyslide or wherever they're supposed to go? Do I perhaps need to also install more of the mod list? I've yet to download everything, just making sure that the Player Character section of mods causes no issue before moving onto Creatures. I've tried checking other mods like this, and they typically have no relevant install information at all.

As I switched from Vortex to MO2 two days ago, I had some trouble too with Bodyslide: 1- You have to install Bodyslide with MO2. 2- You have to run Bodyslide with MO2 too, as skse, FNIS or any other executable. If you don't know how to, look for a tutorial on youtube; it's quite simple. 3- In MO2, open the data tab (in the right pane): expand Caliente Tools/Bodyslide/SliderPresets. You should see all the body presets you installed whith MO2 here. 1

But that being said, if you wanted to put the nords as selachi and the bretons as yiffy and the one and only female werewolf as a cartoon henti, plus changing how they fight where aela transforms more often and goes werewolf on their asses you can set it up, but for casual playing, yeah, it's pretty intensive and not worth it (to me). 1

Facegen presets don't show up in bodyslide on the normal, unless i go into a file and specifically choose a facegen file you won't see them in bodyslide, they show up when you make the char. start the game and hit the tilde key on an american keyboard it's to the left of the 1 type in "showracemenu" hit enter and the tilde key again. Navigate to presets on the upper right of the screen, you should see the preset there. The cbbe bodyslide file just adds stuff when yuou make a char. like freckles, the mole on the cheek, breast size that aylis put in, etc for the body in racemenu. Thats all, it shouldn't show up in bodyslide at all. If i am misunderstanding your issue just please give me a shout and explain it a little differently. Bodyslide is for what it says. Body and the Sliders that it needs. Be it a nude body or the really awesome vampire armor i grabbed from 9daemo is irrelevant. It's the body. Hands. or Feet. Face is handled by racemenu. If you installed the preset the way you did any other mod then it "just works©️" Edited July 19, 2021 by jaeos 1

So, body preset for Bodyslide (Bodyslide folder), face preset for Racemenu (skse folder). 2

Correct, what i see is the facegen presets both for standard cbbe and hph plus skin textures, i don't see an aylis body preset, just the skin. The others are "predone" bodyslides for the outfits, they get dropped into whatever mod you create for bodyslide output, no running bodyslide needed. But, i've been wrong on stuff before, I wouldn't be suprised if i was wrong on this too. 1
Tiemphyx Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 for consideration, has anyone tried: Conditional Armor Type Animations ? It's a DAR mod and heavy and light armor walks aren't bad at all - and no armor movement is easily sidestepped (yeah) to your preference. Note: heavy armor walk is triggered by any 'heavy' keyword.
