Guest Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Hi there! I might thnking getting dlc-s for fallout 4, I already have nuka world and worship ones can fuck themselves, so i ask what is the general opinion about this one?
goldust Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 i liked it..but the memory game was a bit too long lol
Captain Cobra Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Better than the base game, but not by as much as people like to say.
Reginald_001 Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 I liked it a lot, the atmosphere with the fog was well done (well, I liked it anyways). When you do it completionist style you have quite a few hours of gaming there, it took me 4 days in the first play through. I like the settlements and I like the settlement lights that far harbor gives. I really like the Children of Atom stuff, their 'lair' and the way they work in the game.

To the point that maaaaayyybe I just got annoyed with it and used the console to disable all the stupid red blocks every time I've done it outside of survival mode ?

Using setstage you can easily skip the minigame: - Open console command - Type setstage dlc03mq04 150 - Switch number 150 to 250, 350, 450 and 550 to get all holotapes
Jordick Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 The Mechanist DLC was fun, but way too short. The Nuka World DLC has really fun theme and interesting locations, but somehow the DLC didn't live up to its expectations that I had for it. In my opinion the Far Harbor DLC is probably the best quest DLC in Fallout 4. Be warned though, the fog in Far Harbor is notorious for lowering the frame rate even on powerful machines, so you might need to tweak your configurations a little bit.
Swanky Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 The DLCs are used for a lot of the mods anyway, so might as well get it. From a gameplay point of view, I liked it. Most of the quests are well done, and the experience is more cohesive than the base game. The whole island has a unique feeling to it, kind of like Far Harbor for FO3. The hermit crabs scared the **** out of me the first few times I've met them.

For me the setting of Nuka World went a really long way to making up for any other problems it may have had. Post apocalyptic coca cola Disneyworld run by psychopathic criminals. What more do you want out of life?
Contessa Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I enjoyed it. The Island was properly creepy and the stories there drew me in way more than the base game did. I wonder why Bethesda can pump out good to great DLC stories but their main scenarios tend to fall flat.

The main game plots tend to be designed for simplicity and accessibility more than anything else, written in a way that one can easily remember one's progress even if one has to stop playing the game for long stretches of time due to real-life obligations or taking a break to play other games or engage with any other form of entertainment media.
guk Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 + great atmosphere and exploration + relatively interesting story* with choices connected to the vanilla main quest and a certain companion + new settlements + new workshop objects** + new enemies + new roleplay opportunities with Children of Atom as playable faction + perhaps the most badass body armor in the Fallout series *) by Bethesda standards, and compared to Nuka-World or Automatron for example **) not so much the ones you get with the DLC, but what some mods make buildable - some of its music themes are extremely annoying and obtrusive (the exact opposite of Nuka-World) - spoiler? unplayable without Hazmat / Power Armor in Survival Mode - the main faction (Acadia) is even more annoying than The Railroad - 3 of the 4 settlements are kind of shitty for building +/- a growing number of essential mods requires all DLCs, so you need it anyways
kadsend Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 The best DLC by far, evading spoilers, the history is touching and far better than the main game's, the difficulty is finally something to care (PW opr hazmat on survival, enemies that are interesting), the visuals are ominous and depressing, settlements are available (mine are broken but it seems they work fine on a vanilla setting), different, significant endings and well...the map is neat

Phelps1247 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I only played a bit (mostly playing mods there) but also agree it's better than anything in the base game. Point Lookout was better than anything in Fallout 3 too. They should stick to that type of stuff for the whole game next time.
phillout Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 I didn't like the choices. If you want to complete the task you came there for, there is the only way to perform it. I won't spoil it for you, but basically if you stray away from "being a good guy and helping everyone", you can't bring the girl home. And if you play on Survival and don't fast travel, those landscapes with roads purposefully made to make your travels longer get old really fast. Especially considering that if you want to complete the "main quest", you're going to travel all the way back and forth all the time. All the damn time, listening to the Geiger counter ticking.
Guest Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Well I already got the dlc for a while, thanks for the suggestions and tips And I experienced major stuff about it
Jazzman Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Liked it only because of the interesting convo with DiMA as to what's up with the 'Sole Survivor' and their long term memory 'loss' which, at least in my game after five in-game years, is hardly to be diagnosed as stress-induced amnesia caused by the traumatic experience made in Vault 111. DiMA was reluctant to give his final conclusion but I felt compelled to give my char a synth component, just in case...
Guest Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Spoiler I pretty sure that deicision if up to you, if the character is Synth or not. Being Synth actually gives valid reason to side with Railroad, I find them redundant after the end of the institute. Overall I like the dlc, Bethesda didn1t really putted a good worth while dlc since the Shivering isles, but this is fun pretty so far.

I have heard of frame rate drops in far harbor, but I've never seen it happen on my PC. It runs Fallout 4 and all it's DLC's as smooth as melted butter in Ultra settings. Anyway, Far Harbor is quite good, and it's a real world setting, although it's Bar Harbor in real life. There's 2 things missing though, a mask made of human flesh and a Chainsaw. The reason is, the actor that played Leatherface lived in Northeast Harbor, which oddly, Bethesda replaced with Southwest Harbor (Southwest Harbor should really be where the Vim factory is), but it would of been a nice touch to go into a house, and find a mask and chainsaw.
Outlast1 Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Idk it was crap to me a sad attempt to try and smooth over people anger at the lack of skill choices. - atmosphere was boring + new enemies - boring story line - boring character - Dima looked like well a poorly optimized typical beth character with no life or feeling for a sentient AI - weapons and armor were shit + it was short - never wanted to go back in all this is my opinion but it just wasn't that good point lookout was way better and interesting. Doesn't help that it was poorly optimized so I was running around even with my 1080 gtx. You may like it you may not.
Froggy Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 By now I just assumed everyone had just got the GOTY or Season Pass or whatever and was done with it?

Halstrom Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Far Harbour was the Best DLC of all of them IMO
