Devious Devices - Laura's Bondage Shop (16-aug-2025) v3.55 LE & SE

So I'm using the Alpha 3.32. It did fix the guard however I did manage to reach the end of the quest by waiting a few times whenever it would stop in the regular 3.32.
Secondly, no issues with Doran in either regular or alpha or other random issues.
Thirdly, unfortunately laura and katrina are still moving back to the area near helgen on both versions and this was on a save before i had even picked up glemme's sword as soon as the dream ends they are in the shop and immediately start walking to it.
it's unfortunate becasue i really enjoy it.

Good to hear the rest is working. I'm working on a possible fix for the Helgen issue.

If you can, please try it again a few times and let me know if it keeps happening.

Second attempt was weirder, i took a slightly earlier save from within a familiar face where the thotium collar was still on and i hadn't yet been to the shop to then find out to talk to sona, did that and went to dragon's bridge, got the sword, returned it, a familiar face ended but origins did not start, the totem is on the floor and i can go to the inn with it but then i'm just stuck there unable to progress.

i'll try the other save again

Edit: even on the other save that i used for test 1 origins just isn't starting, before i picked up the sword.

Edit: Alright i have no idea what's going on, i made a save during test 1 when you need to collect the bread and swords, i loaded that since origins wasn't working and played through to the end and everyone is in the shop and they're talking.

I've made it to the end of Origins. After the vision I re-appeared in Dragon Bridge from where I fast traveled back to the shop. But inside Laura is just permanently asleep and if I try to talk with her it says "That person is busy" whilst Katarina and Sona simply sit by the corner table on the right as you enter. Katarina is flagged as busy and Sona has some generic dialogue related to the Skyrim Chain Beast mod I have installed.

Have I done something wrong? Did I miss something?

nope. nothing wrong. you just need to wait until Kat and Sona finish their conversation, then Sona will go in and see Laura, then you get to talk to sona and that's it.

There wasnt any conversation ongoing when I entered the shop. Sorry I completely forgot to mention that.

so sona and kat weren't sitting at the table to the right of the door talking?

They were, but no subtitles came up. I spent about 5 minutes (admittedly not a whole lot) just waffling about the shop but nothing came of it.

Have to say great work on the mod, really enjoyed it so much. Also got stuck at the helgen part, right after origin is done when I coc to the shop and see all three of them leaving if it is of any help.

Origin wasn't done, just the dream part.  And if you COC you should expect to find problems.  Scripts expect time to pass.  If you walk or fast travel, it does.  If you COC it doesn't.

I always use Fast Travel unless the game is crapping itself and I have to bail out. Right after the dream sequence I re-equipped my gear, then FT'd back to the shop.

Perhaps the subtitles not showing up is a bug? I think I'm going to try again today and just leave the game on for a time. See if anything happens.

Used coc bc it was already broken, they're placed at the shop after the dream sequence is done but by the time I fast travel there they're already at helgen.

Okay so after a bit of digging it turns out the game/quest didnt properly register my re-entry to the bondage shop. So after a bit of spelunking in the world of ID's I was able to find the quest ID and the corresponding stage ID. After that it was a simple "setstage" console command and blam, Sona and Katarina begun to converse.

For future reference if anyone is having the same trouble as me the correct stage ID is "1010" and the quest ID is XX196F56 (Where the XX is replaced by the load order number for the whole mod. For example the command for me was "setstage 3C196F56 1010"

You don't need the ID, just use setstage Laura_SQ09_Quest 1010

I've run into the same issue once or twice.  There is a trigger box just inside the door of the shop and occasionally it doesn't activate correctly so Sona and Katarina don't start talking.  I've discussed possible changes with Laura to address the issue in the past (Laura uses a non-stock implementation of the trigger so that it can be used for multiple quests instead of using multiple triggers), but it's a low priority fix.  I may try and sneak it into the next release.

Just to make sure, these issues are popping up on SE, right? I'll test again when I get the chance, but as a heads-up, when I went through the LE version of the mod, everything went fine aside from some previously mentioned mod incompatibilities messing with the recipes during Origin.

Although, I use a first-person mod (The Joy of Perspective) and I saw it introduced some humorous graphical glitches with PC's body during the parts of Origin where the character is lying down on the floor in cutscenes. Lying down on the bed, however, works fine.

Yes, these are SE issues.  There are some functional differences in Papyrus between LE and SE.  For most mods they have little effect, but LBS is script heavy.

Also, everything I do to correct SE issues I backport and test on LE.  It has to work both places (i.e. fixes SE and doesn't screw up LE) before I suggest it to Laura, and I provide a fairly detailed list of changes and the reasons for them in addition to the altered files.

The trigger box issue:

Standard implementation for a trigger is for the quest to enable it, the box remains active until it is triggered, and when triggered it disables itself.  They are supposed to be one-shot, so that the script connected to them is not running constantly.

There are two times where a trigger is fired upon walking through the Shop door:  once for the Sloan scene, where the conversation between Sloan/Laura/Katarina is triggered; and once for Origin, where the Sona/Katarina dialogue is triggered.

These should be two separate triggers, enabled during their respective quests and self-disabling after being fired.  Laura didn't do this.  There is one box, it handles both quests, and is never disabled.  Its script is always running.  While this works, it adds script overhead that doesn't need to exist and runs the risk of lagging out in a script heavy environment.  The result is that the final conversation at the end of Origin doesn't trigger properly.

I've recommended switching to a standard implementation for the next release, switching over to two triggers that are enabled when needed, and then self-destruct after firing.  It's a minor rework, but does require changes to two different quest scripts, and the addition of a trigger and its associated script, which means a new ESP, not just new script files.

Hold on, I thought I disabled that trigger box after activation. I'll check it out.

The shop is within sight of the Whiterun stables, on the south side of the road from Whiterun stables to the Western Watchtower.

Did you make sure the plug-in is active? Did you deploy the mods?

Make sure it's lowest on the list. Something could be overwriting the area.

And double check the Plugin list - I've had Vortex install the mod and enable it in the Mod list, but forget to turn it on in the Plugin list
