Long Description

Are you a millennia old vampire and tired of living in Harkon's dreg heap of a castle? Are you looking for class and luxury and a place to live your devious, bloody vampire fantasies?
Fortunately Baroness Nora Karlov had to leave Skyrim on urgent business of the realm, and she was kind enough to grant you living rights in Karlov Manor during her absent.

This mod adds a medium size manor to Skyrim. It is kept in a dark fantasy baroque style fitting for a vampire character or similar. The castle is located west of Solitude lighthouse, or accessible via the console ("coc ACCastleEx").
The manor features a large living area with various rooms. In an underground area you'll find thrall dungeons for your bloody needs, as well as crafting areas. Furthermore, this mod adds a gothic church/chapel dedicated to Molag Bal. Besides the mod adds various locations I used in my story blog "Of Blood and Pleasure" accessible via the main hall and a secret area.

In more detail the main manor features:

  • An entrance hall
  • Kitchen
  • Dining/ballroom
  • Master bedroom including bathroom
  • Trophy & weapon room
  • Church dedicated to Molag Bal
  • Various guest rooms
  • Gallery
  • Crypt
  • Basement storage area
  • Crafting areas
  • Prison
  • Attic
  • Atelier
  • A courtyard (Exterior)

High Rock

  • Villa Adraa, a large, Renaissance style villa in it's own worldspace
  • Villa Valek, a medium sized abandoned villa.
  • A Noble house located in High Rock
  • Sanctuary, a destroyed church in the High Rock Worldspace
  • Ruined Cathedral
  • Fallen Shrine & Courtyard

Hello, Love your mod. It is seriously one of the best player homes/areas.

I was facing issues with some of the beds in mansion which have the command use bed, character just stands for few secs and then starts moving again. The beds with Sleep command work perfectly fine tho.

(also does this have map markers/layout? Because whenever I open map in L , its just a big green world space showing)

Thanks for the awesome mod :D

Thanks for reporting!

I didn't focus much on furniture and usability because I see this as a screenshot location first and as a player home second. But yes, things placed should work, I'll look into it.

I assume you are referring to the worldspace map of Villa Adraa?

There really isn't that much too it, it's mostly background decoration for the villa to get a nice landscape. I don't have any plans to continue building on that worldspace so map markers don't make sense.

Thanks, given that you have very little other options for vacation right now, I think Nora's place is definitely not the worst option for vacation, you see?

Tell him. that not betatesting is no problem.

One week was a fairly short time and people have lives to live, I completely understand.

Honestly, I cannot get enough of this place. There is nothing else like it. The attention to detail is insane, and, frankly, I'm beyond jealous of your skill.

I could go on and on about how awesome it is, but instead I'll just say thank you.

Thank you very much for these kind words!

Glad people are enjoying it.

This is still as impressive as ever. Just to confirm... none of the containers in this mansion respawn, correct? I know it's meant more for screenarchery than as a playerhome, but dear God I want to use it as the latter so bad...

Yes, I just checked again, all containers in the main building do not respawn.

Some of the barrels in the basement do however, but they don't look like appropriate storage area anyway.

Thanks! Definitely using this, even if I feel bad about free houses. It just looks too good...

Thank you for this!  I like to play a dunmer or bosmer cannibal dedicated to Namira, and this fits in very well.

Normally I don't like playing vampires, but the video was almost enough to convince me...it's got the whole  decadent gothic horror atomsphere down perfectly.  Strahd von Zarovich and Dracula would be insanely jealous of such a manor.

Thank you both!

Glad you like it, it's functional as a player house, but it's mostly intended for screenshots.

great mod definitely one of the best looking homes i have encountered til now. I just run quickly through because i didn't had time to really dig in to it but from what i saw it is absolutely amazing. I just wished it would be possible to make npcs use the areas like

You get home and the npcs have started a banquette and your all like how dare you start the party without me ?

Link to comment

Thanks. Probably is the best house for vampires in the game.

I found a problem with MO; If i try to extract the files, MO shows an error. The names of the some files are too long. This did not happen with the previous version.

A question: Why the manor is so close from Castle Volkihar? I always thought that Nora Hates Harkon.

I probably won't do NPCs in this mod and even if I'd tried the scene you're suggesting wouldn't look as lively as you want it to be.

But I appreciate the suggestion.

Thanks for the report. I'm using MO my selves and didn't have any problems installing the mod. Are you talking about the .bsa? Some texture names are indeed pretty long.

The location in my story is different from the location in the mod. If you look at the exterior shots of Karlov Manor in my story it's located on a Hill and not at the coast and supposed to be at a not nearer specified location in Skyrim.

For the location in the mod I was looking for a place that has low mod conflict potential and is easy to build. For example if I had build it somewhere inland you have to worry about a believable location from all sites, build fences probably, maybe a garden... stuff like this. It get's a lot of work pretty quickly and I didn't want to change large vanilla areas due to conflicts and collision with vanilla locations.

It's actually much harder than you may think to find a free spot for a manor of that size in Skyrim...

Link to comment

Yes: I am talking about the bsa. With MO (old) shows an error if i try to extract the files (A warning about hashes and broke some files).

I was able to extract the files with a external tool.

You right, some files have long names, but i think the problem is that some files have names with special characters. That is not a good thing.

About the location, well, it is true the location has no conflicts, there is no enemies at that point (i think) and the terrain is "flat". For their design and Architecture, it have sense their location (perhaps not the coast) but yes Haafingar.

Yeah, I think it's mostly some of the witcher 3 ressources that have these crazy long names for whatever reason. Might change that in a future version. Thanks for reporting.

Probably tons of conflicts with lesser known mods, but it's not one of the common spots like riverwood or whatever. So that should help.

In a vampire castle?

What a parent are you? No I won't do that, ever.

What can i say? I like a lot everything

I have spended many time walking in the house and the other areas and i can say you have a very good taste and a lot of talent.

having said that, if you are open to new ideas or "fix" some details, i left here some comments about sometime things i have seen:

1: Could you enable the bed in the guest room? It is very strange to have a guest room and can't use it.

2: The chair at the Amelie's Room is disabled.

3: There is a bedroom at the first floor is dirty which bed is dirty with some blood and some glasses.  The floor is dirty with a pile of ashes and there is a chair thrown.

Could you add a switch (clean room/dirty room) for that bedroom and a switch (turn on light/turn off light) too?

4: Could you add some drawing or painting to the Painting/Drawing Room? All of the Folios have nothing.

5: Perhaps the main Bedroom needs a true Jewelry Box (Vanilla Box is a little strange).

6: The main manor needs at least one more bathroom, the only bathroom there is in the manor is for exclusive use the lord/lady of the manor.

7: There is a mirror at the living room, above the fireplace (In the center of the first floor). I wonder what is the purpose to put a mirror there. Perhaps a Painting will looks better.

8: Perhaps a wardrobe for Valentina's Room.

9: This is more secondary a lot, but the  staff of the manor (maiden, cook,  stableman, etc)  they needs a place where they could sleeping and a place where they can take a bath.

A special case is a place for the thrall master (perhaps a bedroom at the cellar?).

Of course, all of these things are only suggestions. The manor is beautiful and awesome. I really enjoy with this mod.

Thanks a lot.

Good idea. Should have done this, the ashen abandoned version was a last minute decision before releasing version 1.0.

Quote

4: Could you add some drawing or painting to the Painting/Drawing Room? All of the Folios have nothing.

I'll have to see about that, not sure. The idea is that it's a painting painted with blood and I need to find an artwork that reflects that and that I'm allowed to use, so I'm not sure.

5: Perhaps the main Bedroom needs a true Jewelry Box (Vanilla Box is a little strange).

Not sure about this one, if I find a good model maybe.

A special case is a place for the thrall master (perhaps a bedroom at the cellar?).

What this would come down to is adding a bunch of rooms that should be there from a realism standpoint (I agree) but that wouldn't add anything to the place imo.

Just a bunch of "boring" rooms that are just "there" without anyone doing anything with it.

I can't add too much more to the main karlov manor cell for performance reasons and would need to add something like a servant wing with a bunch of small bedrooms, a bathroom etc. That's a fair amount of work that I prefer to spend elsewhere.

Best case scenario I need one of those rooms for my story and start to add more commoners rooms, but no promises about any of that.

Quote

7: There is a mirror at the living room, above the fireplace (In the center of the first floor). I wonder what is the purpose to put a mirror there. Perhaps a Painting will looks better.

I considered a painting there as well.

The initial idea for this room came from this artwork:

20aed86ac33afac096526701e7ecd13f.jpg

Which has a mirror. I don't think a painting would make sense over a fireplace cause it'd just wear out really quickly due to the heat and the smoke...

I tested a painting at some point (version 1.0 had it) and prefer the mirror.

Quote

8: Perhaps a wardrobe for Valentina's Room.

The room has little space, but there should be a wardobe, let's see if I can make room, thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the feedback, let me know if you have found anything else.

Well, i have written a complete report about all areas:

1: Church of Bal

1a: All of the wooden benches are disabled.

1b: The throne is disabled.

1c:  In the future (long future?), you could consider to add an animation/switch to the Molag's altar. The pray to Dibella has an animation that could look well at the altar of the Molag.  First Pray, then take a drink (and receive their blessing if Molag feels generous ?

1d: The "Ritual" Bowls of Blood have a "switch", but it nothing happens when i activate. I suppose in that case it is something about vanilla game, not from the mod, but i am not sure.

2: Cellar/Basement

2a:

Spoiler

9xLzuC2.jpg

Just nothing, but remember you have a simple space here, if in the future you want or need to do something in that area.

2b: Wake/Get up some thralls. Perhaps adding some simple schedule for them. It is not very immersive that all of them are sleeping every hour.

in addition to the immersion, there is a reason to do that. Sometimes if you try to feed from a "sleeping thrall", you can be trapped between the shelfs and the sleeping bags.

3: Guest Bedroom

3a: There are two switch next one of the windows, but it nothing happens when activate it (Gargoyles).

4: Valentina's Room

4a: The chair next to the desk is disabled.

4b: The switch light it does not work, or yes? I am not sure. What that switch does? When i activate that switch i can see a flicker, but nothing more. Does it change something in the lights or the room ?

5: Main Bedroom and Bathroom:

5a: The small chair in front the mirror is disabled. (Bathroom)

5b: The small chair in front the fireplace is disabled. (Bathroom)

5c: The switch in the bathtub is very big. It takes a lot of space. I think it could be a good idea move that switch to the handles (one for water, one for the foam).

5d: Could you enable some drawer, furniture or put some small box or something to save letters? (Main Room).

6: Library

6a: Both chairs next to the desks are disabled. Also the chair behind of one of the chaises.

(The library, as the basement too) would be a perfect place to add a secret space/room for something).

7: Of blood and Pleasure - Locations:

7a:  It is not important, but there are not any locks on the minimap.

8: Stensia - Bedroom:

8a: Both chairs, next to the bookshelves and the ladder is disabled.

8b: Both chaise are disabled. This furniture works well with normal sit animation and animation sitting throne. Even with lay down animation, but unfortunately this last animation do not looks good.

8c: There is a switch for the "lord chair" But it nothing happens when i activate. The other chair (next to the painting) is disabled.

9: The Duchess ' Room (Anor Londor):

9a: The bed is disabled.

10: Noble House - First Floor:

10a: All furniture in this room is disabled. It is a pity because this bedroom is so beautiful.

11: Noble House -  Cellar:

11a: The chairs are disabled.

11b: The bed needs a switch (clean bed/dirty bed).

12: Villa Valek:

12a: There is not too much to say about this place. Even in ruins, it is a beautiful place. I like the "magic trick" with the butterflies.

Perhaps, to increase the inmersion to this area, you could add some "lore" about this place in somewhere of the villa. A letter or a diary that talk about this place, their history, their people, or something that gives and idea what happened at this place. Something indirect.

13 Villa Adra:

13a: This area is the most beautiful place i have never seen. I like how you mix red and white on exteriors to create and unique and pretty garden and house. The garden is pretty. I like to how you use the light between exterior and interiors. Also the paintings.

Having said this, i understand this area is very incomplete .

Most of the furniture here is disabled (except some stone benches in the garden and a bed on the first floor).

The switch of fireplaces does not work. There is a sound, but the fire does not appears.

The switch for the light in the "main bedroom" at the second floor does not work.

Uffff. Until here.

PD: I say it again, All areas is so beautiful and awesome. Thanks a lot again.

I will be waiting to see the next version. Perhaps it will comes as a gift for Christmas?

PD2: I almost forgot, In the future you could thinking about add a small (and perhaps secret) room to save gold and other treasures.

Gold and the reaches are very important for vampires, to keep their luxury lifestyle.
