chuckdm Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 I downloaded this at 1.01. I was doing other things so I went to install it a couple hours later, but found out you were at 1.03 already. Last night (err around 2AM) I saw it was still 1.03 but wanted to sleep, so I decided I'd install it when I wake. Now I wake up and it's 1.05. So I think I'm going to freaking LOVE this mod, but I'm waiting until the updates are more than 48 hours apart first Still, amazing work. 1
Bakuda Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Hi i just want to say thanks i love Ivy she make`s me laugh alot great job. And the new features are awesome

Initial greeting went well, asked who she was and was immediately given the quest for the voucher. Quest went flawlessly, voucher redemption went flawlessly, and Ivy is back! Will pm you with the link to the video so no spoilers fall into the wrong hands! ;-) I'll let you decide if you want to publish the link. This test was with 340+ mods installed with 270 active plugins using NMM 0.64.1. I'm well into the red zone here, but I gotta test the limits! Sorry if this is OT but 270 active plugins? HOW? i thought NMM or FO4 itself stop after 253

I'm simply trying to see how far I can go using the NMM with ESL support before everything breaks. So far, so good. Can't be done with NMM earlier than 0.64.1 and load order is handled manually by metadata editing in LOOT. Back on topic; Reginald has given the green light to publish the test video done for update 1.05. This is simply a test video, not a feature. One of those should be following soon. ;-) check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUMBDba9Bu4 1

I uninstalled 1.01 and reinstalled 1.05, and loaded a save prior to initial install. Everything work fine, but i have to re-do what i did this w-e (that include the Vault 118 ) I'm doing it becuz Ivy is a cool girl, but pls, don't ask that again for next update. (ps : i love her AI voice, the fact that she sound neutral no matter what she say amaze me every time she make a comment lol) You know you can get a clean save without having to go back to an save? Also hope you're joking about not having to do that for an upcoming update, otherwise you're basically saying never to update the mod again. 1
DominusKaine Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Just reporting in. 1.05 ran fine. Loaded my fresh out of the vault fast start save. Let everything initialize and ran to SH to meet Ivy. I only received the quest when choosing the first dialog option (What... are you? option). Choosing the "Sounds good" option, she tells me about the voucher, but no quest given. Ran my level 1 ass to the spot and found two (2) vouchers. Ran back to SH (level 5 now) and redeemed successfully using the same "Sounds good" option. Service menu and other standard dialog works as expected. One thing I did notice is that she won't follow/catch up if her dance idle is playing. I was all the way over by the root cellar, and she just kept shakin it like nobody's biz. Readying/stowing weapon didn't interrupt idle either like it does with other companions. When she was done, she ran right over though, so you may want to include some sort of LOS, ready weapon, and/or distance check. A minor issue and definitely not game-breaking. "...have to re-do what i did..." <<----- do I laugh or cry at this? 1

Remove recover any items you gave to Ivy that you don't want to lose (i.e. special/upgraded weapons/armour). Dismiss Ivy. Leave the current cell by walking or fast travel. The point here is to get far enough away that the current cell unloads. Sometimes loading into an interior cell from an exterior cell will work, but YMMV. If you're in Sanctuary, I wouldn't use the Root Cellar as it may not force Sanctuary exterior proper to unload. Go to Abernathy at least. Diamond City would be better. Save your game. <-- FIRST SAVE Exit game. Uninstall (completely) the Ivy mod. Don't just deactivate it. Enter game and load your last save. <-- FIRST SAVE I usually go to yet another location or wait/sleep 24 hrs or even both, then save your game again. <-- SECOND SAVE Exit game. Install and activate newly updated mod. Enter game and load SECOND SAVE. Go pick up your new toy and have a coke and a smile. Some steps may seem redundant and may be skipped on most occasions, but doing all the steps will ensure you get a CLEAN save. 3
A lined Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 @DominusKaine Woah thank you, i didn't know that at all, that's like an airlock system but with the in-game cells lol It sure seems a way more practical to update that way haha, sorry again 1

Sometimes even doing it that way may not clear all the rogue or dangling scripts from your current playthrough. If that's the case, you have use an external tool which I can't think of at the moment. I've never used it myself preferring to just start a new playthrough hence my fresh out of the vault save. It's still not perfectly vanilla, but with the help of alternate start mods, it cuts down on the intro reruns. Anyways, back to the original topic. Ivy is still very much in beta. She didn't even have an integrated activation quest until v1.05, but if we keep giving OPs constructive feedback, they'll keep developing. More flies with honey and all that. Carrot vs Stick even. Though I'm sure there are plenty here on LL that prefer the Stick.. [cough]Ivy[cough]. Ah hell, she'll want both and at the same time, naughty lil tart that she is. 1

I was thinking about adding the voucher quest to the 'sounds good' option but ultimately voted against it to force players to have Ivy introduce herself as Robot/Synth. I thought it was important that players know this from the start. Because of how the dialogue works, that question 'what are you?' never returns afterwards and it's important new players don't miss it. Hopefully, when she starts about the voucher, it will lead them to ask 'what are you?'... For the dancing, it was just a dialogue idle loop I chose, a test of things hopefully to come... I found that by pointing at her from any distance (not engage in dialogue, so keep a bit of distance) then crouching/standing does the job of waking her up. Usually equip/unequip player weapon also does the job, as the follower does the same and then returns to their regular idle anims... Hopefully I'll find a way of fixing this soon, and to incorporate a deeper Service Menu level, where you can ask something like 'perform' > 'dance' 'sit in slave position' 'suck cock', etc.. 2

Force an idle. Typically we use NPCname.PlayIdle(IdleStop), which as it says, stops currently playing idle and returns the actor to default.

But the action only runs as long as the dialogue, so I'll have to add a dialogue wait action or something. The idea is that you can tell her 'dance', then sit down and relax as you watch her. Now to find some proper pole dancing animations I could use..

I would assume you can just called them as idles once they are installed and then you create an Idle for them in the Animation Tab of the CK.

Thanks, going to check it out tonight. edit: It's funny... the only way to get the voice synthesizer to say the word 'penetration' correctly is by making it say "Penny Tration".. just wanted to share that little tidbit.. If I don't make it do that, Ivy says 'penedrasion'. edit2: So I was playing with Ivy and was missing a bunch of quest related idles, turns out I have 2 sets of idle messages, both containing a couple of hundred dialogue items (or so) and the second set is not being used yet (I thought that Ivy would say these idles when triggered by a commment trigger, but no, they only get trigger if you ask your companion's thoughts at a certain time, at a certain area... So I learned something really stupid and important... it turns out that you have to ask your companion's thoughts at each quest location, at each quest stage, to get their complete dialogue.... let that sink in, cause I know most don't do that. Think of the dozens of hours of dialogue you might've been missing with the vanilla companions. I've seen so much dialogue I never heard in game while making Ivy, it's crazy.. I'll now look into activating this second set of idles, which will make sure that she says quest related things first, before saying her regular idles. It'll be a bit of a trick to get right so stay with me... Oh yeah.. just crossed the 1000 dialogue lines threshold... 3
Sierra 21 Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Ivy is awesome!!! I've used almost every companion out for Fallout 4 and none have been as much fun as Ivy in terms of making me laugh and how she is wicked in combat with a full modded weapon and armor. I also love her taunts and when she takes a hit with how she feels. Ivy is like a hidden gem that the few lucky ones here will ever get to appreciate and enjoy. Thank you for all the hard work and constant updates to make an already excellent companion even better. Made her look like a one of the replicant's from the original Blade Runner. Ivy.bmp 2

anghelos92 Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 @Reginald_001 I just tried your mod! Awesome! We need more quality content like this! 1
Reginald_001 Posted March 7, 2018 Author Posted March 7, 2018 ^I didn't even know she could get into powerarmor. I don't think she has the scripts to exit it either. I've been working this afternoon on trying to create a custom quest, at which Ivy reacts to different stages of quest lines. This way I don't have to 'hack' her into existing vanilla dialogue, but she'll just easily follow up on any quest progress you have been making, and will make appropriate remarks and conversation depending on your current active quests. If this works, it will be a great way for custom companions to interact with existing quest lines, without interfering in vanilla quest work. Found a small bug where if you fnd the voucher before you met Ivy, you can't talk to her, or recruit her. Going to fix that for the next release! For now, I don't really know of a fix.

No, she doesn't have the requisite scripts for PA use. AFAIK, it's part of the vanilla companion COMMAND feature. I was trying to test my mod to force a companion/settler to exit your PA when they don't have the necessary dialogue to exit PA. It would be an easy alternative allowing companion creators to not have to worry about adding it to their custom companions and also so users (like me) that are trying to edit others' companions to include the quest edits. Of course, I'll have to put in hostility checks and the like so it can't be abused on enemies. No success yet, but I'll get there. I don't think you have to "hack" her into existing dialogue for the interjections. I think that's how llamaRCA (sp) did it for Heather's interjections. It's a task for sure, but do it right the first time, and you won't have to go gremlin hunting, yea? Love all the work you've put into Ivy. BTW, what was your plan for her custom body? Are you going to add the folders and whatnot for a unique body nif and textures or just adding an SLM dialogue option with a delay? 1

I already injected her into all companion quest dialogues (e.g. everywhere the other companions speak in quests) or rather, I'm in that process. I wanted IVY to become even more active, following every current quest you're running and give you dialogue accordingly. I intend to do that (and I'm nearly there) via her custom 'listener' quest. Now with each stage of each quest, she'll be right there, completely aware of what you are doing and she'll react accordingly. This way she should become much more active in all the quest lines than regular companions are.

In regards to not being able to speak to Ivy if you find the voucher before meeting her, did you try adding an INIT stage at stage 0 to the _IvyCompQuest and then setting the stage via the _ivy_activate_quest? It could be that the quest just needs to be initialized. I could be wrong, but that's my first guess. GL
