Filtering contacts is well done, multi-choice is really cool, vey good work, a life savior

 - Next important updates on the subject is to remember the previous filter when we open the contacts (and, if the one is realised, an option to reset the filter)

 - Less important but great improvement would be the possibility to save a filter and beeing able to recall filters from the list of previously saved ones) 

 

Filtering actions is ok and sufficient for now, I've seen on gifhub you plan to improve the UI more later.

 

Did not see any contacts sorting options, did I miss something or planned for a next update? (At least contacts may be sorted in alphabetic orders, it's really a pain to find a contact when you have a lot).

I have a suggestion. A confirmation popup on exiting the game. Nothing worse than not paying attention (hey I just woke up and hadn't had my coffee) and clicking exit by mistake and then seeing all the stuff lost since didn't save

 

Also, how does being a pornstar work? Is there more to it? Or is only thing I can do is engage with fans? 

 

Also, I bought some clothes and they didn't show up in my inventory. I'm guessing inventory is "I"? And actually I notice randomly I can choose what colors my clothes are on a new game...but another new game I can't choose the color of my clothes. 

 

And finally...adding the game to steam works pretty well. Sometimes starting from steam it gives a fatal error and crashes when it loads on the first loading screen (only does it when launching from steam), but most of the time it starts up fine.

As far as I've seen there are only a few scenarios that will randomly kick in depending on your "porn fame" rating. You can raise that by "engage with your fans", in the long run it is more effective right now than actually shooting porn (raises the stat by 0.2 every time, while you get 0.6 max every 48 hours by actually doing porn).

 

That being said, none of those scenes triggered for me while exploring the game since that update.

 

If you are sure you bought the clothes they should show up when rightclicking and choosing "change clothes". You have to click the price tag while in the store mode so that they disappear from the list.

You can choose the color of your clothes by turning on 'Home Dye' in Esc > Settings

Does the problem with clothes bought not appearing in your inventory always happen? Or was it only randomly

I believe the occasional fatal error crash at loading screen is memory-related - the game is trying to load the engine at that point.

Hmm, I double check the conditions for the pornstar scenes. Not sure why they're not triggering for you

forbbiden is just code for incest so that I don't get in trouble with Patreon's staff

IIRC, the incest stat increases faster the higher your attractiveness. Also, obviously, if your relative lives with you, there are more opportunites for scenes to trigger to increase.

Also, you can increase  the 'Scene Frequency" in Esc > Settings to make all scenes (including incest-related ones) happen more frequently with shorter timeout

I lost my save. And I was doing really good too. I spent so many hours on my game.

 

I got a bug where the menu wouldn't go away (Resume/new game etc that menu). I kept hitting resume to get the menu to go away, and game played in the background but the menu still wouldn't go away. None of the buttons worked (except new game). Couldn't even press the button to exit. So I hit new game to try to get the menu to disappear. That worked. But that auto overwrote my save, even though I didn't actually save the game I just hit new game and it auto saved and overwrote my character.

 

And yeah, the clothes I buy don't go into my inventory. I kept buying new clothes, and they wouldn't show up.

Well, I figured out the clothes thing. I reinstalled the game and it worked after that.

 

But, still randomly get stuck menu selection that doesn't disappear. I just ctrl alt delete when that happens instead of randomly pressing each button like a bull in a china shop. But overwriting the save shouldn't be a thing unless the person purposely wants to overwrite it.

 

But luckily I can "cheat" and just edit my stats back to roughly what they were. Otherwise I probably have permanently uninstalled (for a while) after losing all that time spent into my character lol.

Looks like the game completely breaks if you reload a save in middle of a game. Every store became locked, no matter time of day and I also couldn't do any actions since they were all grayed out. Also all work+house icons on the map disappeared. And even reloading the entire game, the icons are still gone. But reloading the game let me do actions again (like the pornstar ones)

Looks like this is too early in its life to be playable. I've lost 3 games already. One which was a long game that I did so much on.

 

(edit: Sorry for my complaining/rants. Losing such a good save was annoying, and I don't like cheating that ruins games for me. But then when I start doing good again...surprise the icons for half the things disappear lol. And I pressed every key on my keyboard and I pressed one key and all the icons disappeared, but then  pressed another key and they came back (except the houses/work still didn't come back). But then I press the same key and the icons didn't disappear. So must be a bug. I understand game is still being made, but made me pretty mad in real life so I got off and made coffee to calm down.

 

I'll return to the game in a few months, hopefully some of the stuff I'm reporting is changed or fixed. Its really far too easy to lose saves as it is though (which is 99% user error I understand that). That is the biggest problem. That and I spent like 30 min trying to find my work place again and I guess the icon permanently disappeared cause I could never find my work again. And I still dunno why the menu got permanently stuck until force closed the game...but at least that one is fixable by force closing the game. The icons disappearing is a bigger problem, I dunno what was up with that.

 

But I'll keep the patron up, cause I love the game...just was really buggy for me for some reason. And I don't see anyone talking about same issues I ended up having so I dunno.

Thank you for reporting these issues. They're quite weird and I haven't received anyone else's reports on similar issues, I do occasionally screw up and leave a game-breaking bug in a release (as I only have two weeks for each version and I don't have a beta testing team to help me). but normally if the issue is that serious, 10+ people would be reporting it on here Discord within a day or two of the release and I would then release a hotfix right away, so it's odd that such serious issues haven't been reported at all - I'll double check for the next version anyway. For now, all I can suggest is try deleting your C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\LifePlay\Saved folder - this will allow you to start fresh just in case you had a faulty save / game setting / map modification that is causing these issues. Also, try running the game as admin in case the issues are due to something blocking the game from reading and writing files.

You can also try rolling back to LifePlay v1.11 (still on the MEGA / Mediafire folder, I always keep two latest versions on each download host)

 

Btw, if you ever run into issues again and haven't saved recently, you can 'emergency-save' your character and NPCs by Alt Tab out of the game, then copy the entire LifePlay\Content\Saves\_session\Characters folder out to your desktop or something, note down the largest number of F{number}.lpcharacters (number of relatives) and the largest number of {number}.lpcharacter (number of normal NPCs) files.

Then when you come back in and load a previous save / start a new game, you can go into the Contacts menu, use the 'Add Relative', 'Add NPC' buttons repeatedly (don't worry about their appearance and stat) to add back the same number of NPCs you had previously. Then exit the Contacts menu. Alt Tab out of the game > copy back the folder you duplicated on your desktop back to its original location > overwrite when asked

Voila > Your PC and NPCs are now carried over with the same appearance and stat - your progress in terms of attraction, rapport and incest tension is also carried over

 

PS: Actually, since you mentioned adding the game to Steam earlier, maybe that could be the culprit? Try removing it from Steam if it helps. I never tested the game with Steam at all and I doubt many (if any) other users have tried adding the game to Steam, so that's one big unknown area for me, and Steam overlay is known to cause issues with some game (you have to disable Steam Overlay in Skyrim to use EnB for example).

 

As I said, I'll double check this, if this is an issue on my end, of course I'll fix such a game-breaking issue right away for v1.13 if not even as a hotfix before that. No way I would leave a game-breaking bug around for months

Yeah, I'll try again since not so annoyed. Was just sad to lose my whole game. But I'll not run it through steam and just run it normally. Plus clear out the files like you suggested. Its definitely possible its cause I keep using steam, hence why only one  is reporting these particular issues. But if there is indeed no issues for you as well, it must be something with steam. Though I'll run with admin mode too, in case windows 10 is doing something weird as well.

 

But I bet its steam, cause only running through steam gives the fatal error. And I bet even if it runs after relaunching it, it probably still has issues in the background. But maybe you'll find some problems on your side.

 

(edit: Playing without steam, lag went away. I thought it was cause I had too many buildings loaded (I used 50% of empty buildings in the randomize thing, but I notice even if I left 75% buildings empty it lagged same amount. So running it with steam increased lag a TON, so I bet it made a ton of other issues.

 

(edit 2: I just got a porn director wanting me to do a porno. I never got that at all in the hours I played before. And I barely started this new character. So steam must have broken that entire thing.

(Again, for those not following the game from the start, this is the same guy that made the original open-source character models for Blender Cycles that I modified, adapted for Unreal and am currently using for the game. For the past few months, he's been working on a new more photorealistic set of models that I'm hoping I can use for LifePlay when they come out.)

Also, played a lot today and only 1 problem came up. For some reason one of the icons got stuck to my mouse cursor so I had to quit out the game and come back. But otherwise, every problem I was having was cause of trying to run it through steam

Now, is there any sort of documentation on what/how you can do stuff in the game? The game sort of throws you into the deep end, there's no in-depth tutorial. For example, I have no idea how to host a house party, how the pregnancy system works etc. The documentation attached with the game is pretty bare bones.

 

Also, for others experiencing an issue with the latest version throwing  a fatal error (on Windows 7 for me), run the game in Administrator mode. That should fix it.

I'll add a FAQ / Guide menu in the next version. Was supposed to add it in the last version but ended up completely forgetting about it.

You can host a house party if you have more than 10 alcohol in your inventory (buy this in supermarket, market or liquor store). Just left click on your home > arrange a house party

You can turn on Pregnancy Notifications in Esc > Settings and the game will give you more 'behind-the-scene' info about conceptions and pregnancies

- Modeling career path, including a story-driven path into the expanded porn industry above (so that your character doesn't just wake up one day and decide to be a pornstar)
- More scenes that lead to sex easily when hanging out with a high-peversion NPC, partly to balance out with the corruption update a few versions back that had many scenes leading to sex with low-perversion NPCs.
- NPC-NPC pregnancies (most relevant for some NTR content)
- More murder for criminal career path
- Ability to interview and hire existing contacts as employees for your businesses
- Ability to quit university, medical and criminal careers and leave fraternities
- ~10 new maps. Keep your requests coming!

will zoophilia be put in eventually? If not how would I go about making the models etc I don't see that in the guides. I have experience with blender but would have no idea how to incorporate any models i would make into the game. I would mod it in myself but the documentation doesn't help me much with that aspect

Will be added eventually, although I don't have an estimate yet of when that will be - it's probably the single most challenging kink to implement in the game. I will need to implement a system for that first (think SexLab Creature Framework) before you can mod in extra races and creatures etc. Stay tuned!

Poll: Title Screen Or Not?
Unlike most games, when you start LifePlay, it doesn't first go to the title screen (i.e. a menu with New, Load, Settings, etc). Instead, it goes straight into the main gameplay: either quickloading your last save, or (if no previous save was found), start a new game with default settings. If you need anything, you can do so by opening the Pause menu (Esc) instead.
As part of the UI overhaul in the upcoming v1.13, I was thinking about adding a title screen to the game (which has been requested by many players), however, the current system does have some merits. I'll list the pros and cons of both below and let everyone vote on which they prefer:

 

1/ No Title Screen (like currently)
Pros: quickloads automatically and gets into gameplay very quickly, makes testing easier for me during development
Cons: bit confusing for first-time players, wastes loading time if the player actually doesn't want to continue the last save 

 

2/ Adding a Title Screen
Pros: more consistent with other games, the game only loads exactly what the player wants
Cons: slower to get into gameplay if the player simply wants to continue the last save

 

As usual, everyone is welcome to vote. However, patrons' votes will weight more (if you're a patron and wants to claim this benefit, please comment with what you voted also)

Also you will have to be careful since you got a Patreon and Discord. They will hunt you down if you break their rules, several SFM animators that had been investigated by Patreon even had their Discords lost because they went all the way there and contacted Discord admins. They won't play nice, be ready for that Vin. Just a heads up is all from being a witness to many adult modders/game makers/animators.
