As someone who is currently not watching any let's players due to moving on from the ones I used to watch because they got stale and unfunny, Who do you watch (if any)?

Specifying what language they speak, or what their content focus is would be nice.

There are three i mostly follow.

ChristopherOdd does a lot of XCom stuff (and he's quite succesful on Ironman Impossible runs) and RPGs mostly. Currently he has an ongoing series of FFXV.

GGGab has Metal Gear, Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and mostly horror stuff. And a lot of japanese games too, since she can read it but speaks english.

And of course Markiplier. 'Nuff said. Though i do enjoy his rage videos most.  I recommend Getting over it and Octodad

Also occasionally i watch Marbozir, he mostly does strategy games.

All of them speak english.

I stopped watching Chris after he started doing livestream LP's. Watching a VOD of someone with a facecam talking to a chat is extemely frustrating and boring, not to mention how much it slows down the gameplay.

I'll try GGGab, sounds interesting. I haven't managed to find an female gaming youtuber that isn't a complete idiot, or just flashing their boobs.

Markiplier's humor isn't really my cup of tea personally.

idk what lets players is but i am my own favourite at anything.

"Let's Players" are people on YouTube who do "Let's Play" vids. Most of them are not as witty or punny funny as they think they are. At times it's hard not to want to reach through the screen and slap them upside the head for various reasons.

I'm really not into Let's Players. About the closest thing I do is watch Longplay vids on World of Longplays for old video games. Mostly because you don't hear the players talking and so don't get as many urges to throttle them.

That most certainly does not apply to her, though she mostly does livestreams too these days.

Yeah, Odd ending pretty much every sentence with "That's what she said" back in the Half-Life series was quite painful :classic_biggrin:

But yes, Longplays are a good choice if you don't want the player's personal input.

Britbongreturns on stream.me, he's usually playing some online games on his streams. He's the only streamer and gamer that I can watch without falling asleep. It's hard to find a good let's play on youtube, they're boring as fuck or annoying.

The one and only MxR

Two months ago I would have agreed. Lately his channels are down to maybe one or two videos a week at best and those aren't terribly interesting to me. His mod reviews are the only reason I even tune in, really. And those have all but dried up now. I hope it's just because of a lull in Skyrim and FO4 modding and not more modders vs. mod reviewers drama. Damn YouTube and their video monetization scheme!

I think the only lets player i like to see is "theSw1tcher" especially when they do they're Halloween shitstorms for me they are funny when they do that lets play series.

I try to watch oneyplays but not with the orignal people kinda make it boring and they're playing games that i alrdy seen people played or what i played.

That is is why it is so hard to find a good one.

Also, I don't just sit at my computer and watch them. I them on my second screen while I play games on my main screen.

The only Lets Player I regularly watch is Count Cristo because I just love historical strategy games and logistical micromanagement

I don't have any favorites... I really don't like watching other people play games unless it's solely for comedic value, and whole Lets Play's hardly stay humorous.

I don't really watch LPs for reasons other than comedy, and these days most of what I do watch is stream archives of people I find funny, so take this all with a grain of salt.

That said.

Slowbeef and Diabetus did LPs of a few games that were astoundingly funny.  Of the ones I've seen, the Dead to Rights remake and their Sonic '06 playthrough are my favorites.

If you like riffs on bad games, the above duo have a mountain of content that's absolutely worth the long watch times.  Their riff on Dark Seed 2 is the Manos to their MST3K, well worth the seven hour total runtime; Space Adventure Cobra is another long one that is easily my second favorite behind Dark Seed 2; even the ones that drag at times like Deep Fear and Shadow of Destiny have enough in them to keep you going.  Beef himself played some of the games later on as well, making them sorta-kinda Lets Plays I guess.

TieTuesday did a stream of the fan game Pokemon Uranium that was gold the whole way through too, though I would understand if you chose to avoid that due to the whole chat thing.  Still, he has guests on as well that are generally pretty entertaining and there's no face cam bullshit to drag it down so all in all it's a good time.  His first runthrough of Sonic '06 is also amazing.

Beef and Tuesday both pretty much exclusively do stream content these days and Betus has dropped off the map so there won't be much new content to look through, but if you're unfamiliar with them then you've got an absolute cornucopia of content to dig through.

It suck that more and more people are moving to streaming. I have stopped watching 4 already because of it. Although considering how strict youtube has become, it is not too surprising.

The Super Gaming Brothers - Two brothers and a friend of theirs play lots of different games and their banter is entertaining. Johnny also makes reviews on his personal channel.

Vash12349 - Plays action, horror, adventure etc. Entertaining guy who isn't afraid to express his feelings, towards his fans or others around him.

Gopher - I only really watch his Elder Scrolls videos. Had to skip his Enderal playthrough because he kept yelling too much. Definitely toned it down for his SSE playthrough.

I tend not to go for full length Let's Plays these days though I did watch Shinji72 (who hasn't really touched base around here in a little while), The Sw1tcher/Super Best Friends Play and ManyATrueNerd a short while back. There are just too many games that I'd like to play for myself as well as too many non-gaming related things that I'd like to do to right now rather than spend much time watching other folks get their game on. Maybe I'll check back in with them once I whittle away a bit more of my backlog.

If short snippets of gameplay edited into a short feature count, then I'd put VideogameDunkey at the top of the list since he engages in the kind of tomfoolery that one can get up to in games with a high level of emergent gameplay yet he does so more thoroughly than I typically care or dare to most of the time. It is like a gaming version of MTV's Jackass. Hmm. Maybe that's why he is called Dunkey?

That might change if I find someone that catches my attention on Plexstorm, though, if for nothing other than novelty. No, that isn't a euphemism for anything.

+1

I like how he roleplays his characters and still tries to make an entertaining video show of it. It's a tricky balance.

Edit:

and +1 for Shinji72... I miss his naughty adventures in Skyrim :classic_blush:
