Hey @Ashal

 

I run Ad Blocker Plus, so I never see any ads anywhere except the unobtrusive ones that ABP considers acceptable. So, because I love this site, I disabled ABP so that I could help get the LL "ad views" count up since I spend hours here every day.

 

Sadly, no ads are showing up- they all say "Hmmm... We're having trouble finding that..." instead of showing an ad. This is happening both in the horizontal rectangular frame at the top of pages and in the smaller square frame at the bottom. I have tested my Ad Blocker's "Disable On This Site" function on PornHub and it works just fine- I get all the ads with it disabled, and I get just the PornHub nags to turn off my Ad Blocker with it enabled.

 

Just thought I'd let you know because I have some vague notion that you make $$ for the website based on ad view counts, and I'm not getting any. Ad views. LOL.

Well, now suddenly the forum editor will no longer resolve a YouTube link into an embedded video as it has been doing for weeks AND [youtube][/youtube] tags don't work either.  Something has changed. Of course the Insert Other Media has never worked, but I did try it figuring maybe y'all finally fixed that.

I uploaded videos every day, never had any problems.
here's the test.

 

the funny thing about the embedding, if I want to watch an 18+ video on YouTube, then I have to be registered there.
I copy the video link easy here forth and so I bypass this exaggerated German clause.
the videos the I mean have nothing to do with pornographic material, I can see these everywhere without registration. 
no, it's just a little blood that in a video going not at all, absolutely  youth dangerous.

I do not know why, I have opened your link on YouTube, then right click on the video and that first *Copy video in URL*.
then inserted here in the post and it opens automatically.

Actually you do NOT need to be a member on youtube to watch stuff that is locked under a sign in to confirm your age to view this video message. All you need to do is this. Have you tried a VPN? I use Nord VPN, 6 devices for $4 per month- about the cost of a German beer including tip. It lets you use an IP that is outside of Germany.

 

When I first made this video, my German friends said they could not view it because my songs were blocked in Germany, but one of them who used a VPN said that when he logged in from Canada it was no longer blocked. Try it and see if it's blocked for you, then log in from anywhere else outside the EU using a VPN and see if you can view it that way:

thank you for the information, but I have become very careful.
if one already twice because of unauthorized listening to copyrighted music was punished, then one think very carefully whether to carry on!

Does anyone know of any "modern" way to manage my file attachments? I have a lot of duplicates plus some really obsolete xml's (etc.) but when I go to "Manage Attachments" there is no way to multi-select files- and so when I apply my filter and sort-order and finally find 4 files in a row I want to delete, I can only delete one, and the minute I do the system wipes out my filter, my sort order and my page within those parameters and forces me to start all over again to delete another file. Using this 1862 steam-tractor methodology  , it is taking me about a minute and a half to delete one file. So of course, I quit trying.

 

Please, somebody point me to a modern interface where I can multi-select attached files to delete. Thanks.

I would be nice even if there was a check box you could go through and click on then delete what you want all at once.

Exactly- Last night was the first time I had ever visited "manage attachments" and I was quite surprised to find no (obvious) way to multi-select as you described. I'm still hoping there is a way and I just failed to find it.

There isn't .  I never seen a way.

When I clean it I just start from the front and work my way back. Front to back like other things.. .great for hygiene. lol. don't sort and such. Just remove all the attachments you want that way. Navagate to the page listed above then delete if you plan on keeping most of them.  click, delete, refresh select rinse and repeat.

there was an attachment management plugin I played around with a while back. It likely adds a lot of stuff you're hoping for now. If I recall though, it also added a bunch of other annoying stuff that complicated things that didn't need complication; so I ultimately didn't use it. I'll play around with it again though and see if I can make it work out.

Since a couple of days, LL seems to have become extremely slow, particularly in the PM and in the blog's section main page (it takes me 1 to 2' to access a private message for example, and sometimes the browser just gives up). It wasn't that slow before. Could some of the tweaks done to speed it up previously have been canceled by the last forum update ? Or is it just some back-up operation going on in the background ?

I don't have any problems at all, neither with PMs nor with the blog section. Are you sure there is no problem on your end? Maybe check if a different browser has the same problems.

I have no problems with PMs but the site is slow again, especially in blog section and I have to wait 5-10 seconds to be able to open Forum button.

As Ashal said, be aware that we are trying a new server with way more disk space but probably not the same performance.

Well other sites do respond normally, and the problem appeared a few days ago. My connection is an average one, but PMs being pure text with very little amounts of data to transfer it looked more like a late responding server issue. Same when I do answer to posts, I'll click on "saving" and sometimes it's instantaneous, sometimes it displays "saving" and takes 20-60s to display the updated page. Also straight opening the main forum page takes up to 3' sometimes. The fact that it's somewhat  random and only affecting LL made me supposed it was a LL related problem.

As for other browsers, I'm using Firefox, and IE and Chrome are against my religion. =o But if it lasts, I'll test it.
