Like when a woman will say they don't understand men, or when a man well *points up.* When I see another human being sure male and female resonate but don't overwrite the fact that I am looking at another human being. There is no deep profound secret between the sexes as far as I can tell. Sure there are superficial differences, but in the end each and every individual male or female is different. If you just look at someone of the opposite sex as another person it tends to make this whole thing a lot less vexing. Then again I've always felt like the outsider looking in, so I guess it gives me some perspective in that regard. I mean there are plenty of guys i don't get, and there are plenty of women I don't get. But there are plenty of guys I do get, and plenty of women I do get. The trick is breaking it down to an individual level. So in the end there are simply I am comparable with, and people I'm not regardless of sex or gender. Simple. As for cultural standards regarding gender norms, I don't get those at all, and frankly I think they just confuse matters for everyone hence you wind up with this mystical notion that men and women are so different they are almost separate species, which is a load imo. We want man to love us .. then have his children .. to be a family and share responsibility in this tough life we journey through. No one wants to be alone his/her entire life so we find someone to share our lives with. Sex bonds us together ... well it should, but men want to get out and leave after sex not cuddle and remember the love that was just shared and when females get pregnant through this process what do men do? They panic or ask "is it mine?" a large % run leaving the female to go it alone. Sex? derp You seem to have some reeeaally negative opinions towards men Did your mom always talk bad about men? Was it someone else? And let me guess, 99% of your experiences with guys were bad too, just like you depict in your posts. Heres a thinker for you, you only see and get what you want to see. You will only notice the things youre so desperate to avoid, you are acting in a way that will push men to do exactly that what youre bickering about. And it wont change, ever, until you get rid of your beliefs. Just fyi, if you ever have children and one of em is a boy, that boy is in for some for a tough life. Whats his life gonna look like, when hes always being told that men suck, that theyre bad, that they only want sex, that they dont care about women. Hes gonna hate himself because he is male, hes gonna be so shy and insecure because of how you depict men that he'll be the biggest beta-guy ever, virgin til 40. Unless hes gay, then he'll just die on a drug-overdose at the age of 18. I can actually prove that tho, by experience, my mom is exactly like you, and she brought her beliefs into my childhood, it took me ages to get rid of that, I didnt trust a single guy. But I was able to resolve it, I trust men now, and I am meeting guys that are so nice that I didnt even knew was possible until I fixed my beliefs. People are different, you just have to fix yourself and you'll be able to see. Uhh yea, so much for that. C:

I had a friend that would constantly say to me " How come all the guys I meet are jerks and you are always surrounded by nice guys" So I told her change the way you look at men, you always want men that are the life of the party, daring and constantly taking risks. Men who are like that also have the personality to go with it. They are arrogant, self centered and consider everyone else beneath them. In short a jerk. All the men she meets hang out in clubs. I meet men in book stores, on campus, even while grocery shopping....not one of them has been a jerk. There are thousands of good men out there, just look beyond your prejudices.

Firstly, I am a man and a sociopath. That means I cannot feel emotions, I laugh if something is funny, I scream if I'm in pain but I don't feel happy or sad, shame or guilt (this is why sociopaths are often seen as murderers, but I don't want to kill because I don't want to end up in jail). And I don't feel pleasure from sex or masturbation, I just feel relaxed afterwards. Because of this I don't sleep around and instead wait for a woman that feels right and masturbate to relieve stress. Secondly, I believe in freedom so all mods, rape, incest, necrophilia and the list goes on; is fair game as long as no one is being forced to take part of it. I've learned a couple of intresting point of views because the kind of stuff discussed on LL. Much of this can't exactly be talked about in real life unless you're really close friends, otherwise they'll think you're a sick pervert. Thirdly, the irony of evolution. Long ago, back when we lived in caves. Women were important, because a man could get multiple women pregnant but women could only be pregnant once at a time. So women were protected, kept safe from wild animals and rival tribes/clans. But, evolution works like this: if you are at the risk of dying, you get stronger or you die. So men, that were fightning animals and tribals got stronger, tougher and taller. Women on the other hand became more sexually attractive, bigger breast to show they could provide milk for their child, wide hips were considered a sign of easy childbirth back in the days. But then, plot twist! As we began to build cities, women were safe without men to protect them, wild animals no longer snuck into houses and killed babies in their sleep and men began to forget why women were kept at home in the first place. So men thought "we are physically stronger, therefore we get to say what happens around here!" and thus modern sexism was born. It was not a universal truth, ancient Egypt had female govenors and pharophs, then the Roman Empire came and made it male-dominated. I guess the point I am trying to get across is this. Things change with time, some even say that to change an opinion the oldest generation has to die because the younger generations are more willing to accept other "truths". The whole matter of equality and male/female perspective is not something that can be resolved overnight. Sorry if that's a bit inconclusive but I think it'll be years (or decades) before men and women see things from the same perspective.
delilah Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 this whole thread was tl:dr all of it. but this last page.. you negative nancies need to get off your high horses and admit that we are no different from men (except for the obvious things like mommy bits, but these days, men can have those too). talk about men ditching responsibility by not wanting to be a daddy? what about your responsibility to take your pill and make him use a condom? then you talk about him having to be the provider and take care of you while you raise his kids. sounds to me like you just want an excuse to sit at home. then you will most likely blame him, the kids, or "stress" when you stop giving a shit and blow up like a house. yeah, fuck that. if you get pregnant it your fault just as much as it is his. maybe even more so since we have more birth control options than men. all they can do is use a condom while we have diaphrams, pills, IUDs, foams.... and <gasp> abortion maybe its because i was raised by a bunch of guys; my father and 3 older brothers (my mother was... gone when i was young). maybe im just 50 years ahead of my time... but here is how i see it i LIKE sex. if i like a guy and he isnt a douche-bag, i have no problem taking him to bed. he doesnt even need to be hot. make me laugh, you got a shot. if you are confident in yourself, you got a shot. i LIKE a man to take care of me, but i dont expect him to. if a guy wants to pay for everything, im ok with that, but im at least gonna offer to pay half. and if I ask HIM out... im paying (but he better at least offer to pay too ) i like pink and frilly, froo froo stuff... but i also like leather, and chrome, and things that go fast and make a lot of noise. i like guys, but not guys that look like girls. if you are a guy and you have a bi-weekly appointment to get your eyebrows done... i think you are confused. i like girls too, but not girls that look like guys. just because you dont like dick doesnt mean you have to dress and act like you have one. i have never felt like i was anything other than completely normal until i read some of the posts in this thread... The majority of women still hold that fair maiden viewpoint, no matter what may happen; women are inherently superior to men. Men are savage animals that desire a woman only for her body, and a woman is an angel arisen from the sea foam to give comfort and tolerance towards the failure known as man. Threads like this only remind me of how aggravating women are IRL. It's just not worth it... it's just not worth it.
