0.95.56 is the previous version I've played and that one didn't have this problem

I tried downloading the archive in question from both sites.  Defender nuked both of them immediately.  Looks like the rar algorithm happened to create a block that matches a pattern for a known virus.

 

You'll have to either run v1.0.0.6 or download the Russian version and use my translation until we see a new version in two weeks.

 

Dogma uploaded a .7z version of the archive to both sites, which can now be downloaded and used without issues.

In diesem Fall wäre es vielleicht ratsam, die originale Version von Dogma als Grundlage zu verwenden oder sogar die englische Version von Dogma.

In der bereits übersetzten Version sind so viele Fehler und Probleme mit dem Encoding z.B. von ' - das muss man sich nicht geben.

Look at the dialogues of the bandits. After the pursuit on horseback according to the Whiterun story. Much is cut off and illegible - in the German version of Skyrim.
It looks like replacing ' and a mixture of bad slang.

 

Basically, Dogmas English dialogues are easier to understand for me (German), because slang is not necessarily easy to understand.

if you have any mod that changes Rorikstead or its NPCs AI, try disabling it. Also, if for some reason a mod removes one of the NPCs, it might give the scene a problem.

Ah, I see.

 

So in English, we use the apostrophe to indicate letters that are omitted from words when forming a contraction, i.e. can + not => can't or they + are => they're.  This is pretty standard stuff, and there's a finite list of them, so they're pretty easy to understand and translate.  Even the ones that may be slightly less obvious like ain't, which is a contraction of is + not.

 

German also has contractions, such as auf + das => aufs, but like most languages does not use punctuation to indicate when letters have been omitted.  In fact, it would be a challenge to find a language that doesn't include at least a few contractions just because that's how humans use language.  Japanese is full of them, but all the ones I'm aware of are simply syllabic omissions (であれます => です), while Spanish has relatively few but with unusual forms (con + mi => conmigo).

 

However, in English the practice of using an apostrophe to indicate characters that have been omitted from the spelling of a word has also been adopted for use in phonetic spellings of dialectic terms.  So, for example, when an accent does not voice the H sound in words like her or him, that is written with an apostrophe as 'er and 'im respectively.  The same is done commonly when a trailing G sound is omitted from words ending in the -ing suffix (infinitives and gerunds in English), such as going or doing => goin' and doin'.

 

There are some truly esoteric examples of this kind of reasoning in English, especially in the use of nautical terms.  Due to the need to communicate orders rapidly, terms like forecastle and boatswain were commonly shortened to reduce the number of syllables, and we ended up with constructions like fo'c'sle and bo's'un to indicate these short forms.

 

English speakers also have a tendency to combine words into compounds.  This is generally limited to pairs of words consisting of a verb and a preposition or an adjective and a preposition, e.g. going + to => gonna and kind + of => kinda.  Like most things in English, there is no good rule for how these are constructed or how they are spelled, but the list of these words is relatively short, and all of the examples I can think of at the moment (gonna, gotta, kinda, sorta, hafta, woulda, coulda, shoulda) all end in A.

 

Finally, in the case of the bandits (and a few others) I also made use of some common phonetic spellings of words that are used by writers to indicate a specific accent.  For example, some low-class British accents use luv - pronounced like love and having identical meaning - as a term of endearment for young women.  This becomes especially egregious when combining the use of this kind of spelling with use of apostrophes, resulting in terms like guv'na indicating the word governor being rendered in a Cockney accent.

Been reported a bunch of times before.  It's caused by a mod conflict.  This one specifically is the result of a mod removing children from the game.  Check the FAQ.

Apostrophe does not appear as an apostrophe. but as - something. And well - slang's just slang. Very difficult to understand for non-native speakers.
Don't get me wrong - it's not a reproach from me to you.
But very often without the originals of Dogma or its English version I would not have understood what it was about.

Fluently?  English.

 

I'm a computer scientist, which means that I'm also a linguist.  Can't write a compiler without having a strong grasp of how to parse the grammar and lexicon of a coding language.  Parts of speech and grammars of human languages follow all the same rules.  There's actually a field of study focusing on mathematical representations of languages and their grammars, called computational linguistics.

Anyone know a good "mp4 to webm" format converter (that does good compression without video loss)?

 

Reason: I made some blank file replacements for the credits dds files, so I could record the ending bar scene (thank you xbox gamebar on windows 10).

Irony the Video is at 1080p (oh and I swap'd out the track that plays to "Dynoro - Hangover (Bass Boosted)" Turned out not to bad.... google it if you want a listen...

 

My problem is the file size is just at  200MB's for roughly 2 1/2 minutes of high jinx...

Well that and the SOS set (one character was flaccid when getting a hand job, and at other times the dong's are pointed to high or to low...

Still it is a fun scene :)

 

Note for folks wanting to record video in Windows 10 setup a quick key set to start recording with the the "xbox game bar" record function... just remember to stop recording when you are done and make sure your video folder (or should I say the drive the video folder resides on, default c) has enough open space. Cause at 1080p (1900x1080), it is roughly 100 megs per 50 to 110 seconds. Which means a 10 minute video of play thru would eat up about a gig of space in mp4 format.

It's exciting to learn that the translation and walkthrough are near complete. Again, thank you for all the contribution! 

 

It was said that it wasn't recommended to start from the very beginning, that mod might be buggy in early parts. Is it still the current situation? And I don't know if it's been stated before, but when is the next update? I've read there's gonna be some important fixes, I might wait for it but this week I have some spare time, so I also might start without it so what is the recommendation? Is the update worth waiting?

hello sorry but i have a problem with this part i already told Tulvar about killing the beast i gave him the giant rat head and claim the reward but when i steal some diabellas and get caught im just getting send to prision and i get the bad end not the part of getting a fine, is it beacuase i let live the werewolf? im in the part of the next day after they hang the rat head in the wall and before you enter the Squeaky Mas for the first time , thanks ?

Yeah, you might encounter some bugs if you start from the beginning in the current version.

 

There will be an update on February 26th, probably, but I believe it will be exclusive to top tier patreon members, since it's an extended version with new scenes. This update will probably fix some bugs of the current version.

And the bugs that I might stumble on, are they game-breaking or is it possible to progress with reloading etc.

I believe the current release version should be fully working.  When Dogma posted the v1.0.0.0 beta, a number of widely-used script functions had been changed, and only the new content had been updated to correct for the changes.  All of the mod content should now be updated, and I know of at least one player who has done extensive testing of old content.

Been a while since I looked at the code, but if I recall correctly the variable that controls what happens in the jail scene is changed in the scene when Tulvar congratulates you the morning after you tell him that the Beast is dead.

New stuff is Toris' side quest in the basement of the Mast - should be at least two scenes - and a memory scene in Riften.

I'm not going to list all of the 50+ bugs that I'm aware of in the current version, but they should almost all be fixed.  Most of these are so subtle that you won't even notice them, but for the ones that do cause problems I post fixes and work-arounds in the FAQ.

I don't know which bugs he is fixing, but probably the ones from the latest version will take priority, like the ones with the memory potion. Dogma doesn't give details about the upcoming events, so to not spoil the player, he only says the local it will happen and how to trigger it:

 

 

If you have played this mod before, the new content will involve the thugs hired by Madam Petit, after you drink the memory potion, you'll see what happened to your character after she passes out. The other scene will be in the Skunkway, when you start a treatment to heal the gaping vagina.

 

Well, regarding the bugs from early sections of the game, you'll probably be able to complete the quest without problems, given the multiple branches and alternate ways to advance the quest. Despite its size and complexity, it's still a stable mod. However, you might get stuck in some scripted scene eventually, and if reloading doesn't fix it, @brewmasterhal has posted many console commands and ways to fix some bugs in this thread, you might have to use the search function if you happen to experience some. 

 

Edit: it seems like next version will fix many of these bugs, so it will probably be good to play.

The FAQ has been updated with a link to a new mediafire folder containing the latest translation, all of the latest fixes/extras patches, and the xTranslate files for those who want to edit the translation themselves.

 

There are currently 80 lines within the mod that I believe to be inaccessible.  If you happen to find any lines of dialog or anything else marked with $ symbols, send me a message and I'll work with you to figure out how to fix it.

 

Note that many of the patches, and their descriptions in the FAQ post, have been updated.  The Thief Fixes - Dialog patch has been moved to the base translation archive, since there are fixes in the latest version that prevent the player from getting stuck in certain places.

 

Here are the things I will attempt to accomplish leading up to Dogma posting an update in about a week:

  1. Create a new clean.bat file for the latest version
  2. Write Part 11 of the Walkthrough
  3. Write Part 12 of the Walkthrough
  4. Fix some logical issues that currently make parts of a scene in Part 11 inaccessible
  5. Fix any mistakes or missed lines reported to me, to prep for release of a v2
