so. might be very very dumb question but regarding the "overwrite the .nif file"... i was suppose to overwrite the one that bodyslide generated and NOT the one in the mod folder... right? cause... i might have tried that instead... XD

also, checked the generated bodyslide file and the .nif does have a _0 and _1 versions. i will go through your tutorial and see if i can fix this.

After fixing the issue you want to replace the original from the mod with that.

I think there's a miscommunication going on.

1. Load 0.nif of the armor in Outfit Studio.

2. Fix the issue

3. File > Export > To Nif

4. Replace the 0.nif

5. Repeat with the 1.nif

Load in game.

oh. yeah. i get it it. i WAS doing it wrong. XD

i edited the nif files that came WITH the mod. not the generated ones.

hmmm this still doesnt seems to be working. i THINK this is happening due to MO2 virtualization.... ugggghhh!!!!

I do everything through MO2. I really don't understand why you're having such a difficult time

You're doing this through MO2, right? You've installed the mod and are running Bodyslide in MO2?

You're not rebuilding the armor after fixing it, right? You're not building it to your preset, fixing, replacing the nif and then rebuilding it?

hmmm the last line makes me think that i may have been doing something wrong (even though this worked for me in the past)

i will explain how i used to fix clipping in the past.

1) select armor (to fix)

2) select sliders to edit from right (i will be honest, this might be where i might screw up cos i either select ALL sliders, or every slider that has the term "breast on it since most of the time the clipping i fix are around the breast)

3) select preset (the once i use to build armor)

4) find and fix clipping by increasing "mesh volume" (this is the part that shows inverse result are saving)

5) check if all clipping has been fixed and then save project or use save project as.

6) open bodyslide and build outfit bodyslide (lately this is the point where i notice that the step 4 has had inverse result)

also yes to both using MO2 and running the bodyslide and outfit studio through MO2. though i might add, in the past when i pressed the "load project" button, the Outfit studio either showed the virtualized folder or default mod folder. now it only shows virtualized folder, i dont know if this info helps.

Okay, now I'm seeing whats happening. Don't touch the sliders on the right unless you're converting armor to CBBE, which you're not. Also, if you rebuild an armor after doing work on it it will revert back to how it looks because you're setting it back to square one.

Use the brushes to pull out the clipping:

The left one with the bulge pulls the selected piece on the right out and one with the indent minimizes it. After fixing it then you replace the nif: File > Export > To Nif... Browse back to the mod and replace the nif there. Once it's built to your preset fixed and replaced don't touch it. Again, if you rebuild it in Bodyslide it will go back.

Find the armor to build:

Load it in Outfit studio: File > Load Outfit. Browse to where the armor is. Fix it and then replace the nif.

I don't know if what you're doing is actually correct but it's not how I do it. So, you might be. It sounds like you're trying to change the project itself. In that way you need to load the project, which is more cumbersome than it's worth - in my opinion.

aahh! i think the difference b/w your method and mine (and to why mine sounds more cumbersome) is that i am editing the nif files of the mod and not the _0 and _1 version generated so i dont have to fix the armor everytime i might rebuild the armor. directly fixing the .nif in mod allows the fix to be permanent (unless you reinstall the mod)

also, dont you NEED to select the sliders on the right to edit/add mesh volume? Outfit studio refuses to do that unless you select the sliders.

If you build the armor to your preset that's all you really need to do.

So I built this forsworn set against my preset in Bodyslide and loaded the 0.nif in Outfit Studio. As you can see I have a little clipping.

I use the brush with the bulge to fix it:

I then export this as a nif and replace the 0.nif. Now, it's all fixed and I won't have any clipping in game.

Pro tip: You can change the size of the brush and the 8th tool from the right - the line with the two dots - this mirrors the work on each side. If this is enabled what you change happens on both sides. If you disable it only that part that you're fixing is affect.

yeah, but the problem is the increasing the mesh volume (the bulge icon) for me is actually decreasing mesh volume for me when i save. that is the issue i am facing right now.

Cell,

I'm sure you've thought about this but I was curious if it was possible to link the shape properties from one nif to another? So, if I'm changing textures and or anything else in nif_0 that it will automatically populate/change those settings for nif_1.

That's what project files are for (NIF in ShapeData).

I have a bit of a problem with getting this to work. I recently got a new computer and having to install everything over again. When installing Bodyslide and configuring my body shape (CBBE this time. Last time I used UNP) but I get no textures when previewing during the building mode Everything just says "No Image" though I can still see the shape of the model. Also, I can't seem to get Skyrim to open in fullscreen. When launching through the Steam launcher, it opens by default, but when launching through Mod Organizer, the game window takes up roughly 1/12'th of the screen. How on Earth am I going to fix this?
It sounds like a weird thing to have an issue with, and I might figure it out once I wake up tomorrow being no longer drunk.

EDIT: I should also add that the body shape is the default one no matter what I do in bodyslide.

EDIT: Appears not being drunk gives me an easier time figuring stuff out. Deleted images since they're no longer relevant.

Right now I am starting a new game with UNP to test out some mods; but do you really need CBBE beautiful bodies? BodySlide and Outfit Studio seems to have body meshes, sliders and presets that works with both at this point and just overwrites the CBBE body mod anyways.

I wished it was easier to switch back and forth though as I like to try out different mods and body types.

A potentially more challenging question: Suppose I have an outfit that seems to have been assembled at about 50 weight, in some random BodySlide slider set (something like UNPB Chapi), and which has identical meshes in *_0.nif and *_1.nif (it looks the same at any weight).  What can I do with this?  I want to create a 0 to 100 range (*_0.nif, *_1.nif) that fits, say, the UUNP Zeroed Sliders reference body, and which actually adjusts for body weight. Then work from there. I would expect to have to adjust it a bit at both ends in Outfit Studio, then try generating it in various derived bodies (7B, UNPB, etc.), and maybe adjust a little further until it's consistent.  Ideally, I would rather fit it to my preferred in-game body at 0 and 100, then backport it further to Zeroed Sliders and whatever else, since I care more about it working well in my own game thanI do about later working it up into something worth releasing after I improve it with new features.  I'll be better able to test it in my own game using my own game-wide default body than trying to shoehorn some Zeroed Sliders NPCs into my game.

I'm not really sure where to start. Or whether this is a waste of time.  I'm guessing it must be possible, or it wouldn't be practical to convert from vanilla into UUNP or CBBE BodySlides in the first place, since they have little form in common with each other, yet it's been done many times.

How are you supposed to export the head when modeling slider data in blender? The baseShape obj exports correctly positioned, but the head insists on sitting on the floor.

I need the femaleHead as a reference mesh in blender, positioned as it is seen in OS, so I can model the connecting vertices of the baseShape mesh.

Hi guys,

I'm just setting up a new Skyrim install - my first in several years, I think my first with Bodyslide - and for some reason my feet are completely broken. There's a gap between the feet and the legs, the shadows seem all wrong, and there are other texture artifacts.

I've attached a screenshot where I've marked the issues.

Mods that are currently installed:

general, shouldn't matter too much:

SKSE, SkyUI (through Steam Workshop)

Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch 3.0.15# https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71214
Better Dialogue Controls 1.2 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27371
Better MessageBox Controls 1.2 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28170
Green Water Fix 2.0 [with Dawnguard] # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14007

Alternate Start - Live Another Life 3.1.7 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9557

Quality World Map 9.0 [Paper] # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/4929

body-related:

Real Girls Realistic Body Texture 6.0 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36425
BodySlide and Outfit Studio 5.0.5 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49015
XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended 4.71 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68000
HDT Physics Extensions 14.28 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53996
RaceMenu 3.4.5 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29624
FNIS Behavior 7.5 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11811
FNIS Creature Pack 6.1 # https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11811
Schlongs of Skyrim Light 1.04 # https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/498-sos-schlongs-of-skyrim/

After installing the mods I ran BodySlide (batch build) and FNIS (with Skeleton Arm Fix + Genderspecific Animations).

When using the Vanilla textures instead of the "Real Girls Realistic Body Texture", the gap and bad shadows are still there.

The gap and bad shadows are there no matter which UUNP body I generate (I tried UUNPetite and standard UUNP)

The gap and bad shadows are there no matter which combination of outfits/bodies I create.

The screenshot was taken while naked so this can't be an issue with armors.

When I use texblend to turn the texture completely black (that's the only think I know about texblend...) then the gap disappears, so it seems like the problem is that the texture has 100% alpha in the gap between legs and feet... at least that's my layman's guess.

So... Is this a problem with the "Real Girls Realistic Body Texture" and Vanilla texture? What texture can I use that will work?

What other issue could it be?

(not sure if this is the right place to post this sort of question...)

you arent using the same texture tipe, this happens when you got uunp or cbbe body and the feets are not uunp or cbbe, try to build al the body (body, feet, and hands) in bodyslide using the same preset, and be shure to use all unp or cbbe textures depend of the body you build

Thanks for your reply; I got it to work but I'm not sure what the issue was. I did a clean re-install of all mods and ran LOOT, and now all issues are gone, on all textures, even Vanilla.

I've imported many blender created OBJ meshes to OS, without issues.

Suddenly, one of my meshes simply does not show at all. I actually use a preset in blender to export my obj meshes, so it's not like I'm changing what's being exported.

A little background:

Spoiler

I created this mesh by exporting a nif file from OS into OBJ, and using that in blender. This is a process I've done many times before without issues.

OS recognizes a file during import dialog, asks me to give it a name, but once finished, it's simply completely invisible.

Puzzled, I exported the default blender cube using my standard obj export setting, and it works fine in OS.

I checked normals, they're correct.

What else could be the problem?

this is odd:

I just tried exporting as fbx and importing that one into OS works. What is up with the obj import? So weird.
