I'm just concerned about what races we can play as, outside the campaign for I never care for the lore I just enjoy skirmish. Never played multiplayer. Skipped DOW2 since people were praying for DOW3 to be more like DOW1 apparently for some reason and I never could afford the bloody thing.

As long as I can play as the Orks "Orks, Orks, Orks! Orks, Orks, Orks, Orks!"

I'll be happy with the base but hopefully Imperial Marines and Chaos see there way in eventually.

Its because  DOW2 is less rts (macro and micro management) and somehow similar to a moba (micro management). There  was barely any basebuilding and more small squad+ cover based combat.

For starter you wll be able to play SM, Eldars, and Orcs - why no chaos there is beyond me. Others i bet will come in dlc.

DoW 1 was more grand in scale, more units, more bloodshed, more everything - and it was glorious. Dow 2 was, ok.

Btw soullstorm, was a mess.

I learned to never get hyped over a game trailer. All games these days can walk the walk but very few can talk the talk.

EDIT: Talk the talk // Walk the Walk.

Derp derp...

Relic is doing it, their shit taste better than bethesda gem. So there is a reason to hype.

Neat although i'm curious how they are intending to implement the huge walkers (unless that was just for the video)

If DoW3 is anything like 2, it's dead on arrival.

Soulstorm was the last good Dawn of War game. I know I'm going to catch flak for that opinion. Yeah, fighters were stupid and the balance was kinda fucked; but overall, I enjoyed it.

Imperial Guard is the best faction.

I hear it's going to have elements from both games (PC Gamer).  I guess it's coming with a suicide vest?

There's nothing that wrong with DoW2 it's just not an RTS it's a RPG ( a TRPG to be specific).

And yes I do like both but on there own merits.

... it's just not an RTS ...

And that's the problem with DoW2, it's nothing like the first game in the series. Why make a sequel and have it nothing like its predecesor?

At the very least, they could've made it an RTT (think mech commander series); but instead, we got some abomination that wanted to be a strategy game and an rpg.

Ahh the good ole DoW is/is not like DoW2 argument

Its a sequel as it references  the events of the first game and it has the characters from the first game

No that's your problem DoW2. Clearly the dev team wanted to make a sequal in terms of the story but not in gameplay.

The things people neglect about DoW 2, it's much more similar to the Tabletop game than its RTS predecessor. While different, that certainly means that it does not mean  it's bad. I liked Dawn of war 2 as much as one since they're games that do things differently.

"relic" isn't doing it. "relic" got fired except for FIVE people in the art department after Retribution was made.

dow1 mah nostalgias

Exactly two factions base-build in the 40K universe, IG and Necrons, no one else sticks to static structures, and that includes Orks on a waaagh who build as they go and nids now make reclamation pools as they go as of the 5th codex and beyond, so for those saying dow1 was "more true" haven't actually ever played 40K outside of DoW.

Maybe the new team gets it, maybe they don't. I can say the artstyle they chose is straight out the early 90s and not in a Rogue Trader way, either. And the stuff they have set up with "premium" "elite units" looks like the straight up p2w tactics which destroyed total war's faction balance.

If you preorder this one and it sucks, you only have yourself to blame.
