How do I make ReMeDy Custom Portraits work with AGOT mod? I did look for some answers on this, none of the solutions worked for me. 

 

1) You need to break dependency by moving followed files from DWR to ReMeDy Custom Portraits.

 

\common\traits\dw_remedy_portrait_traits.txt

\interface\remedy_portrait_traits.gfx

\common\defines\property_slot_increase_define.lua

\localisation\dw_remedy_traits.csv

 

2) Remove dependency in .mod file.

 

Now you have independent mod!

 

 

Tried what you said, didn't work. It didn't try to the load the mod, even though I checked it.

As for the hire jester decision, I respect your position. But, you mention than sometimes having some triggers in the potential can break things up? Do you have an example of that? If true, it should be reported as a bug -if you can give me an example code which is repeatable I can poke a dev about it.

 

 

Based on some of the comments I've seen made by devs I'm pretty sure it's not actually a bug, it's just that "potential" is solely a user interface function. It doesn't get called at ALL by the AI as far as any testing I've been able to work up has revealed, so nothing in potential will limit an AI from using it.

 

 

Well, I'm positive that's not the case. The AI definitely evaluates potential clauses, and if there are cases where they are ignoring it, it should be bug-reported.

I'm sorry for not checking the entire thread, but there's one hundred and one pages (holy shit, really? This should be it's own damn board now!), is it compatible with CK2+?

Can confirm that it is compatible with CK2 Plus have been playing with both myself (deremedy portraits included), no need to add dependencies or any of that jazz, and as far as I can tell there have not been any conflicts ( Toska and slavery enhanced are also compatible)

I'm trying to use this with AGOT. So far I have these compatibility points:

 

1) custom ReMeDy puts overlays next to the AGOT Portraits. I had to disable this Mod and not use ReMeDy.  I noticed on Steam an AGOT compatible version of the portrait mod, but it does not include all of the Dark World portraits.  I'll figure this out later.

 

2) Several buildings are not buildable - this includes 

  • Castle -> Slave Dungeon
  • Castle -> Arena
  • Castle -> Wizards Tower
  • City -> Assassins Guild
  • City -> Coliseum
  • City -> Exotic Emporium
  • City -> Alchemist Shop
  • City -> Craftsman Guild

 

Comparing this to AGOT common/buildings/castles.txt I see that the maximum value for all trigger ={} in AGOT is 0

 

This is requiring a modification to both files Dark World Reborn/common/buildings/dw_castle.txt and Dark World Reborn/common/buildings/dw_city.txt (not all six are in both files, but with Notepad++, this is easy.  REMEMBER to backup the files first).

  1. Find/Replace: TECH_CASTLE_CONSTRUCTION = 1 -> TECH_CASTLE_CONSTRUCTION = 0
  2. Find/Replace: TECH_CASTLE_CONSTRUCTION = 2 -> TECH_CASTLE_CONSTRUCTION = 0
  3. Find/Replace: TECH_FORTIFICATIONS_CONSTRUCTION = 1 -> TECH_CASTLE_CONSTRUCTION = 0
  4. Find/Replace: TECH_FORTIFICATIONS_CONSTRUCTION = 2 -> TECH_CASTLE_CONSTRUCTION = 0
  5. Find/Replace: TECH_CITY_CONSTRUCTION = 1 -> TECH_CITY_CONSTRUCTION = 0
  6. Find/Replace: TECH_CITY_CONSTRUCTION = 2 -> TECH_CITY_CONSTRUCTION = 0

This was validated to work well without any changes:

  • Castle -> Brothel through level 3
  • Castle -> Alchemist Shop through level 3
  • City -> Slave Market through level 3
  • City -> Red Light District through level 3

After the Find/Replace changes, I am able to build all of the Dark World Reborn buildings in AGOT.  Of course, this reduces the technology and castle requirements for the regular game, so do not use this change unless playing AGOT.

 

 

3. Next ... Slavery is NOT integrated between the two systems.  This will require a rewrite or just acceptance that the two systems are different.

Can you find a way to have the princess have the right ethnic and DNA? i often play norse and marry one of the princess and i am tired to find that our children are almost always ugly (the princess is actually ugly under the portrait). i would like to have my children having some feature of the princess. like the redhead of Ariel, dark skin of jasmine ect...

 

also any chance that you add Marida from brave with a simple even where she runaway from her castle to not marry one of her family's friendly clan heir. or Mulan with a small even where she was capture by a mongol horde (the Hun) than sold as slave in Europe or servant of one of the horse lord?

I actually create on my own Merida from Brave right after the previous message. the result seem to be interesting. Merida seem to be fine ingame and i love the picture i found for her.

i used the console to test it and for whatever reason the image don't show but the chain seem to work well. it need more test that gonna be done tomorrow. i need to test it some more, see the even trigger by himself and the flag if it work ect.

 

here a pre-release of my work if you want to test it. maybe someone can find the issue and eventually add it to the mod himself.

 

it's a simple event that should pop just like Alice's. it's really simple, it's a chain of events that introduce you Merida background and allow you to choose to fallow it later, take her to your court or let her spawn in a random court. there is a couple way to end it by sending her in a random Ruler and one of them will reward you with 200 gold.

 

 

just add the file to your mod files. overwrite the file when needed (IF YOU HAVE THE LAST RELEASED MOD otherwise it may break something). they shouldn't break anything. it's a addition to the files of DW fairy tales and the portrait who need to be overwritten. it should not create any compatibility issue with the actual version.

I get around this problem by setting a character's race to be what I want while their culture is set to match the culture of the player getting the event.  Here is the relevant code:

	culture = ROOT
	race = frozen_hybrid  # or whatever is appropriate
	...other settings
}

the geographical culture can differ of the culture. for exemple, in character creation you can change the ethnicity of your character where you change his appearance and his culture can be change into the attribute. just where the religion is. If the character have an ethnicity who is the same as other but no dynastic relation or cultural relation, it should not have much effect in the game. but the main thing that i notice is the issue with the children who doesn't look like their mother or father. so far i modify the DNA in the save file to make specific character look like what their portrait is, for exemple, Rapunzel will be a slim german with long blond hair under her portrait. the result is the children are more likely to become german with blond hair and my culture and religion or be like their father. still a little chance to not look like either their mom or father but it's something like 20-30%.

 

so far simply add the DNA in the character creation in the Event file doesn't seem to work well. the geographical culture was not what i set and the DNA was random again. still try to find a way. maybe i will just find a way to put the character as historical and tweak a bit the event to change their culture and religion to always be the liege's one.

good insight. but will that not make it less compatible or heavy? i mean we have the princess of course but there is not only them, There is douzen of other character who may need to have the same correction. we cannot simply make a specific race for each Special character. i think it would be more compatible if i find a way to use the original ethnicity in game.

Since the last update (1.45) I got the blank event problem as well. I can select the Dark World content options in the campaign start up menu and it works perfectly for a few days (depends on starting age, but not more than 40) and a blank menu pops up, which pauses the game.

I only installed the dark world and the portrait mod, it should be installed correctly (as all previous versions worked without any problems this way), also I validated the ck2 files already, which didn't work either.

I was using an example from my own code, with one of my own races, not suggesting a custom race for each princess.  Race can be whatever is appropriate for the character.  I think Harley was originally done Norse, for instance.

Since the last update (1.45) I got the blank event problem as well. I can select the Dark World content options in the campaign start up menu and it works perfectly for a few days (depends on starting age, but not more than 40) and a blank menu pops up, which pauses the game.

there maybe a way to simply add cat's ear into the portrait. a bit like the banded eyes of the blind character or scars. i think it would be more universal than adding dozen of special portrait.

i got the same thing but i through i break the game with my manipulation to add Merida

 

 

You are right! I removed Merida and it works again, thanks for the hint!

i found the trouble. it was an incompatibility with the Homosexuality check of the event DWcore.9200 and Merida's spend time decision. i dont know why this was troubling the game but i simply remove the Special spend time decision for now and re-uploaded the new file. let me know if you have any other trouble like that. and also dont forget to mention that you installed Merida with Dark world if you want more help. it's just because the first step of troubleshooting is to identify the cause and can only be accurate if we recreate it.

this pack add an small chain of events to had an Unique character with unique picture. the chain will pop randomly about every 2 years just like Alice's and Belle's and in the end of the chain, a new unique Character, Merida, will spawn either in court or in a random ruler's court (depend of your decision) Merida will have Pictish blood (old scotish) and have her liege's culture and religion.

At the same time, I can appreciate that more than a couple people may be interested in it, so I'm willing to tweak it if someone wants to provide a list of them for me to easily insert. If you opt to wait on me to do it, it's not going to happen anytime soon if ever.

 

And I really don't mind someone putting the time in to come up with a decent dna line for folks who don't use the custom portraits, so they get something that at least can vaguely resemble the desired target. But once again - not important to me, so someone else would need to put in the extra time if they want me to insert it.

Did I remove the culture and dna from Harley? I used to have her set as a Norse, because it was the best odds of getting pigtails. I may have removed it in Reborn though, as the culture aspect was a common complaint.
