zippy57 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Can I cheese it by making them all males in regards to CKII? Sure. Will I do that? No. I like the idea of having a pregnant futa more. And reliably knocking up a male and getting them to reach birth is something that I've not seen anyone do with any true regularity, as the game's hard coded part usually 'corrects' the situation by not allowing a man to become pregnant, and if it somehow happens, it usually 'cleans up' the mistake by removing the child before birth.I... never suggested any of this. I just suggested that events check for male/futa instead of just male. As in is_female = no || trait = futa instead of just is_female = no. They're locked out of quite a few events by this, even though the flavor text for most of those events can work with both male and futa players and the rest only need minor changes to the text. I'm not editing the religious strip. If you'd like to and provide a copy of it, I'd be happy to include it. I sink more hours than I care to already just going through and trying to find good images for the events. I'm not going to mess around with the religious icon strip. The necessary changes: Religion Icons.7z
NoxBestia Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I had some ideas for 4 new succubus spells, and a full set of 7 incubus spells, along with incubus level progression like you have for succubus. I haven't codded them into my own mod yet but I believe they are all doable, though one or two of them might squick people. Before I do this, did you have plans for expanding the incubus and the 4 "empty" succubus spell slots? (By empty, I mean spells for succubus stages 1, 3, 5, and 6.) I've more succubus spells planned, definitely (and there is already a stage 1 - I apparently just didn't code it that way in looking it over quick). Regarding Incubus, I'm leaning towards not doing much with them. Presently I'm looking at the meta as this: You've two discarded children of God. The angel Lucifer and the first female Lilith. Lilith is big on equality and freedom. At the same time, she's actually not big on liars, criminals, or those who do unnecessary harm to others. Succubi and Incubi were born of her. Since she already suffered at the hands of a man (Adam) or two (if you view God as a male figure), I'm leaning towards her not having empowered or cultivated Incubi to the same degree as Succubi. Mainly because she can ensure that her daughters are fair to their brothers, while at the same time being strong enough to resist any attempts at her sons attempting to disrupt the order. Lucifer has no reason to spurn Lilith or mess with her power base, and while he may find Succubi and Incubi as interesting toys, he could really care less about them. Thus part of the reason why I'm not keen on the Luciferian faith. For in all actuality, he'd more likely laugh if Lilith decided to purge the heresy. I'm deciding how involved I actually want Lucifer to become in the game. If he does send across representatives, I'd envision these either being kin of the Fallen or perhaps demon/devils. If I do introduce them, they would have an ideological split of sorts from Lilith's practices. For Lilith doesn't frown on the virtues that a person may embrace (unless those virtues are enforced upon them, then she sees them as a violation of their personal freedom). Lucifer meanwhile is not a fan of virtues and his representatives would actively seek to sow the 7 deadly sins among the population. So picture Lilith as being someone who believes in personal freedom, be it virtuous or sinful, as long as it isn't at the detriment of another persons personal freedom. Lucifer wishes for people to embrace his sinful nature, without a care for the impact it may have upon others. Lucifer's limited involvement with the Lilithian faith concept and the strengthening of the player, is more in how it's a potential thorn in God and Archangel Michael's side, rather than being on the same sheet in terms of a belief system. So. Probably didn't fully answer your question, but hopefully gives you some ideas as to where things may be going. Hmmm.... well, that gives me your framework which really helps. Now I have to decide if I can work my ideas into your framework or if I have to diverge from it for my own stuff. (I'd rather keep mine as compatible with yours as possible.) I am going to give a try at working my ideas into your world-parameters and then see what you think of them when done. BTW, I love most of your choices for artwork! Definitely worth all the time you put into it.
Aliris Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 A few questions/observations after playing the mod for a while: The convert to Lilithian event checks NOT = { religion = lilithian } and only NOT = { religion = lilithian }, meaning it will show up for characters who are lilithian_west or lilithian_east after they reach Succubus stage 2. I confirmed this in-game; my heir got the event to convert while already lilithian_west. On that note, is splitting the religions into west, east, and undetermined variations (presumably so the holy sites are relatively convenient) absolutely necessary? While unlikely, it is possible, through a string of events involving expanding across the map and having heirs converted and adopting different cultures, to end up with both lilithian_west and lilithian_east active in the same game, which would be very confusing since they are largely identical. To explain on the rationale behind the split, this is entirely because of the way the game structured holy sites and religions. It's exceedingly difficult to be an insurgent religion with weak to no moral authority. If we made one religion, but scattered the 5 holy sites all around the map, it makes it very hard to get yourself to even 2-3 of them without becoming a massive empire in the first place. If we concentrate them, that screws over people who don't play in that region. This was part of the problem people were running into in early versions (where Messalian was used rather than a custom religion). This is why I came up with the idea of having 3 different sub-religions, under the assumption that any Lilithian variant will only enter play through the player's action, so we can make several versions which are entirely transparent to the player. The only difference between them is that they use different holy sites, and are based on the player's culture (as that allowed me to quickly subdivide into several roughly geographic regions). If anything, the checks should be for something like: religion_group = demonic since that should cover all the variants, as well as their respective heresies.

So. Probably didn't fully answer your question, but hopefully gives you some ideas as to where things may be going. Just to add in my thoughts (since I was the one who decided that adding a heresy, and calling it "Luciferianism" was a good idea in the first place): I didn't originally envision the Luciferian religion as it currently shows up as being the work of Lucifer, so much as it is the corruption of the Lilithian faith by those who want to replace it with/return to a male-dominated society, and rather than trying to convert people back to Christianity/Islam/etc, some of them decide to rewrite the doctrine to de-emphasize the feminine side, and emphasize the masculine side. In short, it was me brainstorming as to what sort of alternate notions that followers of a Lilith cult might come up with, that would be anathema enough to be branded heretical.
dewguru Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 What other mods are you running? What mods have you updated recently? Are you playing from a saved game? Dark World in of itself doesn't just randomly assign the futa trait to people. It's actually coded to not allow random assignment. What you described usually happens when someone tries to continue a saved game that has mods installed, and one of the mod's traits file changed (as they're converted into id numbers when a game starts). If you're only running Dark World, it's still very possible for this to have happened, especially if you just upgraded from a version prior to v1.2x. Think I figured out how succubi (or futa) appear in the game 'randomly'; I was doing a CK2 run where upon scanning the world ('Search All' in characters) I discovered a few children with succubi or incubus. "Strange", I thought. "Only the child of an Incubi and a Succubi will be daemonic as well..." Went to bed, didn't think about it any further. Next day I loaded up my modded game (with my mod), played it for a century. I recalled yesterday, and on a whim, searched again. This time, no random succubi or incubi, but I did find random destradans... who were born to 'normals', even with real_fathers turned on. The event chain might have leaks. Given that my code is practically a copy-pasta of your Lilithian Inheritance code, my guess is that once in a few hundred or so checks, the computer ignores something and triggers the event anyways. Very possible. I've seen the game, even the vanilla game, seemingly do something that it just wasn't supposed to. It's rare, but oddities do happen.
dewguru Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 I... never suggested any of this. I just suggested that events check for male/futa instead of just male. They're locked out of quite a few events by this, even though the flavor text for most of those events can work with both male and futa players and the rest only need minor changes to the text. Then that was a misunderstanding then on my part as to what you were asking. As it is, I've only so much time so I make no promises outside of I've always aimed to improve on it, and the example you share and the recent work on the brothels show that it has been covered better recently. Outside of that, I can offer nothing more. Regarding the religious icon, thank you and I'll incorporate it.

In short, it was me brainstorming as to what sort of alternate notions that followers of a Lilith cult might come up with, that would be anathema enough to be branded heretical. I understand that, and that's why I'm alright with it being a heresy. I'd just balk at any expansion of it into a true religion, and I think I expressed initial concern until you explained about it being a heresy. So we're good. My apologies on not being clearer on it in it's present state as a heresy. Now, I've been batting around an idea that may involve another religion needing to be added, but I won't delve into that until I get some of the current things taken care of.
dewguru Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 Alright, updated on v1.23. Slavery overhaul is done, but I'm going to play test it a bit. If you've an existing game save, DO NOT upgrade and continue playing with the update. The overhaul is so extreme, I imagine a save game that has slavery events in progress just vomiting as a result. I was thinking late tonight or tomorrow for the release, but it's looking like I may not get to play it properly until Thursday. If that changes, then it'll be released sooner. Present change log for the next update. v1.23 - Tweak: Major overhaul and streamlining of the slavery system. - Fixed: Was checking the target's piety instead of caster on the Succubus tentacle beast spell Will likely include a couple other minor things like Zippy57's new religion icon, and I may take a stroll through the minor_titles and fix the religion to the religion_group = demonic that Aliris mentioned a couple pages ago.
ReMeDy Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Btw, I don't know if you're open to slashing some file size off your mod, but in the gfx/characters folder, there's my file called "remedy_portrait_swapping_template (or you can edit the .dds files directly)." It's 8.57mb, and takes up about 38% of Dark World's total file size. It's just a template file though to assist modders in portrait creation, so you can safety delete it going forward.
rustiyeti Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I kind of figured the logic was in that ballpark, lore wise, given how you've described the WW and written their events & behavior. Also, no joke, how freaking hard is it to get even a passable image with the internet literally being nothing but a massive archive of free porn? After spending about 5 hours last night searching for just *one* appropriate werewolf pic that didn't look like crap (paheal, gelbooru, hentaifoundry, e621, and exhentai) , and a few more today for orc pics, I concede that you are a master of Google-fu. Teach me sensei. Seriously though; whole new appreciation for the quality and appropriate nature of the pictures you've chosen for each event that I've encountered or looked at the source file in curiosity for those I've not encountered in game yet. I'm thinking I'm going to have to look for something close enough of quality and just exercise judicious cropping. Mind sharing any sources you troll through for your pictures if there are any notable ones missing from the list above?
Pantheress Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Having not played the 1.22 version yet (waiting for piety bug fix ), what does the fixed adult portrait for werewolves look like? Do all werewolves get the same portrait? I'm just worried that a court will inevitably end up with 20+ courtiers that have the exact same portrait, and thus are visually indistinguishable and can only by identified by their name. I liked it before when only special npc's, (Fenris, event werewolves, harley, hunters, etc) had unique portraits.

Ofcourse it's rounded 152x152 in the .dds But you get the idea.

Mind sharing any sources you troll through for your pictures if there are any notable ones missing from the list above? My main source, just because it seems like the easiest method for scrolling through large quantities of photos is: https://chan.sankakucomplex.com/ I also use paheal and http://rule34.xxx/alot. Rule 34 you will notice is extremely similar to paheal, the difference being they keyword their images more like Sankaku, which sometimes make what I'm looking for easier. I do check hentaifoundry on occasion, luscious (http://luscious.net/pictures/) and oddly enough, Bing Images has turned up hidden gems that aren't on any of the sites. Google will too on occasion, but Bing seems like it's out performed Google the past couple months in turning up something that isn't on one of the more common sites. Honestly, I've spent probably 2-3 more time in image searching, cropping and evaluating than I have in coding. It's one of the reasons why the little things like additional icons are little annoyances.

Ofcourse it's rounded 152x152 in the .dds But you get the idea. I'm still fine plucking away at the portraits and events. It's the smaller ones that are a little annoying. I know I've alluded to it before, but I'm an older person, I've kids that range from out of the house to high school to middle school. Outside of not liking to mess with smaller images because I already feel like image overload a lot, I've this other thing I've been dealing with the past year called eye's deciding they don't want to see as well as they used to. And when I real with really small images, I always feel like they look like absolute crap, so it annoys me. I've learned to avoid things that annoy me. It's made my life much happier. And I like your Succubus image. It's nice. I was planning on adding a few succubus image options for the player to choose from for their own ruler as well. And that way if they prefer one, like you've shown, they could slap their own custom one in. Btw, I don't know if you're open to slashing some file size off your mod, but in the gfx/characters folder, there's my file called "remedy_portrait_swapping_template (or you can edit the .dds files directly)." Don't know if you caught my Harley&Werewolf errors last page. In DWCourt.csv, "dw_harley_shagging_wolf" and "DWCourt1053" have [From.GetFirstName] when it should be [FromFrom.GetFirstName]. This results in Harley being described as shagging Harley. Also, the event needs to test for and use adult werewolves rather than any werewolf. Catching Harley shagging a three year old was awkward at best.
NoxBestia Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 ...I've this other thing I've been dealing with the past year called eye's deciding they don't want to see as well as they used to. That is happening to me little bit as well. I had LASIK done in 2001 and they said in my 40s or 50s I might need to go back to glasses or look at another procedure. So... if your profile age is correct, you're about 6 months younger than me. Also, the event needs to test for and use adult werewolves rather than any werewolf. Catching Harley shagging a three year old was awkward at best. Yeah, but if I know werewolves, the cub was having the time of his life. /LMAO EDIT: I'm just being playfull; hope I didn't offend anyone.

dewguru Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 Current v1.23 change log. Just finished a test of the slavery system and it seems to work as I intended so far. Note: In my play test I didn't manage to pull either a werewolf or Rayne, so the only thing I can really confirm with them (I know the Harley Rayne event had this issue), is that they won't trigger if one of them is absent. v1.23 - Tweak: Major overhaul and streamlining of the slavery system. - Added: New Lilithian Religion icon, work contributed by Zippy57 - Tweak: Minor Titles adjusted so Lutherian heresies can also have titles. - Tweak: File size related. ReMeDy pointed out a file I could nix that freed up 8 MB, or about a third of the mod size. - Tweak: Harley only wants adult werewolves - Fixed: Bad any_courtier check was giving false positive on Rayne being present for a Harley event. - Fixed: Was checking the target's piety instead of caster on the Succubus tentacle beast spell Edit: Oh yeah, I'll be releasing it later tonight.
Yukinohki Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 a short question while i wait for 1.23 do you need to delete the Dark World Mod User Data too for a clean install? and just to make sure you know it, i really like your mod
dewguru Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 a short question while i wait for 1.23 do you need to delete the Dark World Mod User Data too for a clean install? and just to make sure you know it, i really like your mod My understanding is no. That the User Data folder is a place for it to hold data for a specific game that you have in progress. That said. When things get really crazy, I understand killing the User Data folder for a mod as helped some folks before, so I've done it a few times - although I can't say whether when I did it, that it was necessary or not. Sorry I don't have a more definite answer and I appreciate the kind words on the mod.
Yukinohki Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 hmm, i thought the Data folder might have been the reason for some unexpected behaviour, i'll delete it when i switch to 1.23, just to be sure.
