The ONE Mod You Couldn't Live Without

Since so many people have mentioned SkyUI already, I'm going to go with XCE http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/2356/? . I would consider this the only mod to get if we couldn't have body replacers, GUI overhauls, custom races etc. This might be cheating a little bit, as it's a compilation of all Xenius' work...but how could you live with all those fugly compression issues with the normal maps, bad eyes, low res facepaints/scars etc. It just fixes so much for a vanilla +1 mod install. Sure the characters are still physically ugly, but the textures will look nice...somewhat like a PC game, and not a PS3 ;)

One mod? Oh, yep... SkyUI.

The next version should have that PR disaster in their dev team booted out of the credits list for almost destroying their rep.

Very much this.

When that kid announced the paid for version he came across as  a /b/tard from 4chan.

I honestly didn't believe it at first and knew it was almost certainly a shit stirring attempt, imagine my reaction when it was announced on their Nexus page aswell...

Several of the previous mentioned (SkyUI, Fus Ro Doh, ASLAL, etc).  Just a couple others that (I don't believe) no one has mentioned yet:

Become a Bard ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/65636/?) - used it when it first on Nexus, followed it to SteamWorkshop (luckily the author put an external link to the mod so I didn't have to actually subscribe), and now it's back on Nexus.  I use it even when my character is not even going to go through the bard stuff in it - I'll play a hunter that lives in the wilderness and will play the flute by the campfire at night.  And some of the included music is very cool.

Personalized Music ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13286/?) - Allows you to put your own music into the game and with its setup you can choose when and where (outdoors, combat, taverns, taverns night, etc).  And considering that this mod exists, I could never figure why people would risk getting banhammered at Nexus for putting copyrighted music mods there when they could use this one so easily.

Add item menu :). That mod is a godsend if you have a lot of armor mods.

Tremendously useful. Better than the tedium of having to pull out the console, and type several lines to grab things.

Duel hardcore combat gets my vote, without it fights are just painfully boring for me, especially against those ever present draugr...

It's funny that so many people say SkyUI.  No doubt it's a great mod that makes the game infinitely more playable.  But my pragmatic side is thinking similar Mister X razzing Atreyu...  90% of the mods actually worth having require SkyUI already and since I said dependencies get included here, you could have gotten it as a freebie  :D

Oh and Atreyu, we have been honest.  Sexlab stuff is a great addition, it's just not the sole focus of our game for most of us.  :P  :D

I dont use skyrim nor oblivion  to make/watch machinima porn so i like to believe i was more honest in ze internets than many.

Also i like default nord race so.. SkyUI if i would have only one.

I think I actually found a new one now:

Legacy of the Dragonborn

The mod is freaking awesome.  It adds every (or almost every) unique item from Daggerfall, Morrowind (& it's DLCs), Battlespire, Redguard, and Oblivion (& it's DLCs) to the game and gives you a spot to collect and display ALL of it and the uniques from Skyrim too.  IceCreamAssassin was amazingly thorough with it too.  Even the books that are unique to each game have been added.  There's even spots to display generic uniques like Amren's family sword.  Spots to build wildlife displays too (mammoths, etc...) like a natural history museum.

And it's compatible with a handful of of the more popular mods.

This thing lets you go more completionist nuts than the whole series of Pokemon games, lol

aslong as your computer can handle it, towards the end with a mostly full place, i couldnt enter normally, had to coc to get in, i would crash sho much in that place.. but i did love it, having all that stuff to collect was a dream.

my must have mod would be either...

Grimy Utilities - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36328/?- it does alot of things, but the spell hot keys are a major help

or

Jaxon real names - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61430/?-  all it does is give humanoids real, fitting and lore friendly names, a small thing that has a large impact on your game. sometimes i am even afraid to attack bandits now, just cuz i dont know htey are bandits til they go hostile.

Yeah, I could see where some PCs could pick up some serious load lag and general lag in the museum.  IceCreamAssassin has it segmented off into different rooms that load individually.  Not sure how new that is, BUT I can see why he did that now that you brought it up.

Jaxon real names...  That would make life interesting when stumbling across the random bandit camp alright, lol.  :)

i forgot it also give names to random dragons aswell, no more just basic "dragon" attacks.

and as for Legacy, he had load doors on each wing, but still there was just enough stuff in each to cause issues. ofcourse my pc is midrange, at best, and running alot of higher texture things.

Well if I had to choose one mod...

Monli

Alternate Start

Hunterborn

Corpse Preparation

Vile Art of Necromancy

ENB

Those are in every mod list I have. So to choose one...

I could probably do without corpse prep and vile art, which leaves ENB, Hunterborn, Alt start and Monli

Well, every character looks ugly as hell without ENB (vanilla lighting+characters=ugly :P). And if I could only choose one, if I chose Monli she wouldn't look nearly as good. And I'm kinda okay without ENB if I stick with the vanilla races...

which leaves, Hunterborn and Alt start.

And that is an easy choice of the two, since alt start really just skips the intro so that is more a short term mod. Since I'd only have one mod, no big deal. Where as Hunterborn is the entire game.

So that would be Hunterborn. The most realistic hunting mod, makes the game a lot better and I LOVE being a hunter/survivalist. It makes it a better hunter simulator than most hunter simulators :P

Well I pretty much only play Skyrim for the naughty bits these days. So... seeing as requirements are included by the rules of the game, I'll go with a tactical vote and say Play Submissive. That way I get these all thrown in for free:

SKSE

SKYUI

Fuz

HDT High Heels

SexLab

Aroused

ZaZ

Devious Devices Assets, Integration and Expansion

Pet Collar

And possibly a few others I can't remember off the top of my head...

:D

Skyrim with one mod?  I'd uninstall the game.  :P

IF I had to pick it would be my own master file that has all of the changes I've made.  It is an overhaul in one esp.
