Seriously, anybody can go to Looperman or a similar sound loop/FX site and download a handful of 'em, arrange them in no particular fucking order and call it Dubstep, then go so far as to try and claim it's "Music". It's the most idiotic form of aural displeasure we currently have as a species. Remember when videogames had Rock and Metal associated with them? I miss those days. Srs.

I understand you have different tastes...but what you said is a little harsh. Personally I don't care though I love dub step, but I'm sure there's a few people on here who might get a little upset. That said I do prefer metal. the 80s had some of the best stuff so far, although my favorite band is a modern one (Serenity)

One of my favourite youtuber switched from a metal to a dubstep song in his intro and now i can't watch him.I hope this changes over time, so there is a bigger width of music genre in videogames.

But instead of trying to do it well or with any kind of artistry, they just shove it into anything they can with no rhyme or reason and shovel it out and people eat it up.

And this comes from a guy who recently flirted with Dubstep elements when I created a new tune on my tablet not long ago. But there two sides of a coin right? On one side, there are those who create a song, thats pretty much just sounds like there are 100 sound samples tossed together. I can't stand that stuff at all. And then there is those who try to create a a song with a strong melody and just borrows elements from Dubstep. And yeah, that's me. I were just experimenting, and I honestly don't think that my particular song classifies as Dubstep. At least I don't hope so. But I agree, I miss the days when you bunny jumped around a map, killing stuff while listening to the in game metal music - AKA Painkiller. I honestly think that the developers behind Painkiller were spot on. Between the checkpoints, you have these calm ambient songs (some of them incredible beautiful) and when enemies start to spawn it switches to combat music ala Metal music.

I don't mind dubstep music in general, but people do tend to overplay it and it annoys since the music doesn't really match the mood of the games or person I'm watching.
FetishSergal Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I can only give my opinion as somebody who listend to dub step when playing shooters, the reason is that i've found shooters and dubstep to go hand in hand, i'm a big fan of metal, but I just can't llisen to it on multiplayer, so I discovered some good dubstep and I keep a small collection that I find fun, like this song: Getter - Run Up: I think also most gaming channels are there to make funny montage videos and dubstep is good for comical situations. I would totally use the apropriate music if I did a gaming chanel depending on what's playing: Mmorpg/rpg:Folk, Epic, Ambient, OST Horror: Dark ambient, harsh noise, black metal intros Shooter: dubstep or dub element infused music, martial music, industrial music

It's insanely rare to find a channel or stream where the person playing actually focuses on the game 100% and shuts the fuck up. So as someone said in this thread, no point frequenting gaming channels/streams rather play the game yourself if you are lucky enough to own most of it. (sucks to be on a limited budget lol)

Rayblue Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 All the music I play on the PC are either film soundtracks or 90s rock; in the part of the world where I live in, I find most of current-day (post-2005) pop music rather jarring than something I would like to pick up. Since most of these gaming channels couldn't use any other instrumental music (because of copyright issues and they hate to get flagged by Youtube's bot) they often had to make do with content that's basically free of RIAA control. Rarely watched any of those gaming channels unless the game is too terribly hardware-demanding (i.e. Far Cry 4) and I need to see for myself what the game has to offer.

The majority of people tend to be followers instead of following their hearts, at least that's how I see it. Most of the stuff you see on TV or Radio introduce you to some of the shittiest music you can find, sometimes there are good songs but it's quite rare. Back in the 90's early 2000 it was cool and interesting, with talented groups/singers. Now it's all about autotune, talking about cars, bitches, parties and lame lyrics or songs made up in 2 days so they can sell more... and more to the fanboys. Thankfully there's internet and websites where I discovered simple people yet very talented, and many times way more talented than the crap you hear on the media. Music is now a big industry with cows you'll never hear about in a few years, same with dubstep, soon something else will replace it and people will forget about it. It reminds me of the Tecktonik Music kids used to like and dance on, lol it was trash and is still trash. Now it's forgotten into the depths of Oblivion. If they overuse that type of music, it's because it's considered to be "popular" and designers think it can please a good amount of people. Youngsters maybe, but that's not my case, however most of my games either use electronic music or rock so I'm never annoyed by dubstep.

Autotune isn't the gold standard of todays music either, so if you're a bit more positive then you will realize you're not doomed to only listen to the 90s music, go out and find what's good for you, not all mainstream music is bad either, and there are plenty of underground radios, if anything the selection of music has grown wider than ever before, so complaining about "nowadays" music is really unnecessary snobism, like 90s or 2000's had it any better with Britney bitch and Avril Lavagine Rappers used to rap some dumb shit too, the only reason for nostalgia is that the bad stuff of the day was quickly forgotten and we only keep records of the good stuff... That's also called the Golden Age syndrome, we keep only good or intense memories, we forget most of the bad stuff (unless it was really sad or frightening then you won't forget, but you don't remember the less intense bad things, like dullness or boredom) so we keep thinking things where better before than today, that's because when we remember we tend to evoke good memories most of the time, even though we remember bad things we don't usually focus on them, time usually erases such memories. As a kid I have been spanked a lot, with belt buckle, it made my ass bruised and hurt, now I don't even remember why or what I did, or when it happened, I can't even remember the pain, I only remember playstation 1 videogames and school plays and things like that. By the way, why complain about dubstep and not the completely unnecesary and exagerated shrieks when playing horror games, or the stupid comments when playing shooters?
