I am having trouble finding anyway to contact administration on this site.  I have always enjoyed this site and the unique mods that can sometimes be found only on this site, for instance the eires-ohmes-raht-khajiit.

Until recently this site retained its class.    Yes, there are adult content mods on this site, but they are mods made of game characters, not real people.

In creating these animations, many times real life examples are used to capture realism in the animations - this is all good and understandable - no problem.

What I take issue with is the sudden downturn of the ads this site has decided to line the top/bottom/and sides of my screen with - raw porn, real humans  - not to mention that I am now getting pop-up porn ads when I come to this site.

I don't browse porn sites;  and I come here because of the awesome modders this site has.  I don't like the idea that just because I would like some adult content in a mod, the administrators of this site correlate that with wanting to see porn plastered around me as I search for mods.

This site is about modding games, creating a side to them that we may not find on other sites - it is not a porn hound site.  Why have our ads changed suddenly?  Is this site being relegated to the scummy dregs of the internet now?

I vote we retain our class and keep our ads based in what we are all about - games, and the creation of better ways to play them.  I don't at all like the feeling of trying to browse this site for mods and being inundated with porn, and hope the administration takes note of this.  It has ruined my enjoyment of this site as a whole, which is a shame.   This place has always been about fun and games, let us keep it that way please.

if you're a heartless savage and dont care much whether the site makes money you can always get adguard. (dont get adblock or adblock plus, some comapanies pay them for their ads to bypass, also adblock has apyware unlike it says)

*whispers queitly* i actually am sing adguard right now....... (i turn it off for youtube because those ads are a tad more relivant in paying the content provider)

meh, i never really cared. its a sick world we live in. although i can understand where you're coming from.

adguard, donate, pretty sure this site is similar to LTT in that once youre a member ALOT of the ads go away. (only assuming because the kind people at loverslab and the kind folks at LTT used the same thing to make thiers sites)

Contributors are not those that contributed financially, they are modders who have uploaded enough content to be recognized and granted "contributor status".

Don't forget that they are also nominated by other contributors as well as approved by the moderators and finally Ashal. Volume of work isn't the only thing considered. ;)

Honestly the ads on this site are not as bad as say the Nexus where turning off Adblock is the equivalent of walking into Las Vegas at night with your pupils dilated.  Also what the admins says is true; you can't run a site like this on only good intentions.  You need revenue, advertising and site management.  HTML isn't as simple as going off Notepad especially with a licensed domain name.  You probably could have pulled it off with old Geocities (not sure if that website service is still around or not) but even then you were limited to posting pics and gifts with the occasional Geocities ad eating up some bandwidth.

In short LoversLab does need the ad revenue to keep trucking.

Ashal, maybe you could start selling T-Shirts?

:D :D :D

I love this one. It's actually  great idea and it will bring some money to LL budget. The only problem is: how to do it for the people outside of US? :)

Forget the t shirts. Lovers stickers for your stuff. :D. Kind of like what is done for the let me google that for you.. 1 dollar for each.

If you do go for the t shirts how about this...

I'm not a Gamer, I am a Lover...

Using the established font and colors of lovers lab. ;).

Or

Not only am I a gamer I am a "lover".. Same as above.

" Green is awesome ! "

You Friendly extraterrestrial ritualclarity :D

I don't mind non intrusive apps, but hate intrusive apps, the ones you click somewhere and then BAM BAM BAM lots of windows with ads.

Reminds me when i started looking for porn back in 2001, wanted to close a page, 20 more would show up. Had to format my pc a couple of times because of this.

We don't pick any ads ourselves; it's a service that we subscribe to. Due to the adult nature of the site's modding scene, regular advertizing services don't want anything to do with us. We'd prefer to have those, really, but no go. So we have to go with 'adult' ad services. If there are any drastic changes in what they offer lately, we probably don't know about it - one of the perks of being contributor or above is not having to see ads.

No matter how hard it can be to break even on the server costs, Ashal will never take it badly if you use adblock & such. He's cool like that.

You can always find the staff members over here

Thank you for your prompt response, I appreciate it - and your explanation makes sense.    I think the difference is probably that previously I was using the Google toolbar which automatically blocks ads, so never saw them until after recently installing Trend Micro and changing over to their toolbar, which will not block the ads (instead it just blocks me from entering this site, so I had to turn the image block off).

I don't mind contributing a reasonable amount to have the ability to block the ads;  I have a premium lifetime membership at Nexus because I am an avid modder of my game and use their facilities very frequently (daily) and wanted to contribute back to them for providing the site.

It is true that I come here much less frequently than I do Nexus or TESA;  but there are only three sites I download mods from;  TESA, Nexus, and here.

This site has breakthrough mods, most especially in Skyrim.  When the other modding sites were still saying animations couldn't be done in Skyrim, this site already had numerous mods up, and they are continually perfected - and better animations is something Skyrim is in desperate need of.

There are many modders here who only host their mods on this site.  One example I mentioned above is Eires.  In Oblivion I used Desu Chan's Kawa Khajiit.  (she changed her name to MissAnthrope).   DesuChan/MissAnthrope has refused to bring her Kawa Khajiit to Skyrim, in fact she has removed the Oblivion Kawas from any site.  The closest thing I've found to the Kawa in Skyrim is Eires-Ohmes-Raht-Khajiit;  and this is the only site he hosts that mod on.

I am also a huge fan of this site's animation modders.   This site is known for hosting the best  animation modders of any other site;  whether it be erotic animations,  realism mods like Basic Needs,  or just better movements of NPCs.   Like I said above, this site has always been the ground breakers for animations in TES.

Truthfully, I did try to find an ad blocker before writing the above complaint; if I had been able to find one I wouldn't have made a peep.

Anyway, I do appreciate the response.   I honestly did not realize you would have problems finding advertisers for animatronics, that is really surprising - maybe it shouldn't be, but it was.    Thank you again.  (and if there is a page for memberships, I will def take a look at it.  If I can afford one of the contribution options, I will.

And as a quick note: If someone feels bad about using an adblock, there is always a way to donate to make up for it.

The current ad setup on the site hasn't changed in about a year, nothing has changed about their setup recently as you seem to imply.

If you know of some ad publisher that provides non-porn ads, decent rates, AND allows sites like this which include many pornographic downloads and screenshots as it's primary content. Then I will happily switch the site over to them in a heartbeat and consider you some sort of amazing mystical wizard. They simply don't exist. I tried switching the site over the adsense at one point, the ad account was quickly banned due to the content of this site.

Bottom line is simple, this site is expensive to keep up. There's a lot of traffic and most of it is people downloading large animation or armor mods.

And for the record, while as DoctaSax mentioned contributor and above have ads removed for them. Myself however, I have intentionally excluded from that behavior specifically so I would be subject to the ads as well and be aware at all times what they are like and be able to catch any particularly bad ones that slip through the cracks. Perhaps I'm simply desensitized to them at this point, or as the owner of the site I feel very different about them, but I have never found them to be particularly distracting like they can be on many other sites. The ratio of visible ads to visible site content heavily favors the site content and in the majority of locations you might be looking there is no ads visible at all unless scrolled all the way to the top or bottom of a page.

I'm certainly not going to advocate the use of ad blocker's, as personally I think they are pushing the web in a bad direction and only contribute more to the problem they solve, but that's a debate for another time and place. I am however, not going to begrudge anybody for using it, least of all when it comes to porn ads.

Yes,   I actually never saw ads on her before, only noticed them the last couple times I came on here.  After reading your comment (quoted here); I realized that I had been using the Google toolbar until very recently when I changed over to the Trend Micro.   I never realized the Google toolbar's claim to block ads was truthful until now.   That is why I am just now noticing these ads.

My issue with these ads is twofold.   First - I open up my laptop on my lunch hour at work and may be looking for a certain mod.  If I don't find it at Nexus,  and I know TESA's offerings like the back of my hand and know I won't find it there,  then I come here and type a keyword in your search engine.

So I am looking for a better children mod right now.  I come to your site and type in the search for "Children."  The site is loaded with porn and I am typing in searches for children,  it doesn't take a genius to see a lot of trouble coming from that.

(Not to mention people at work thinking I am looking at porn on my lunch hour).   I don't like getting that type of reputation - not just that, but I am positive viewing porn on the company premises may cost me my job.

I was not expecting to see these ads because I have never seen them on your site before  (I'm learning now due to the Google toolbar).

My second concern about it is this:   Having worked in HR for companies, I know for a fact that prospective employers do internet searches to learn about prospective employees.  Before you are hired, they know your FaceBook wall by heart and have read all your tweets - they do a thorough research of where you go on the web to determine if you will fit into their company or not.  They learn all your aliases; especially if your job requires you to be bonded.

My name is on my account here, the same name I use everywhere on the internet - that is because all this time I have been coming here,  I did not know that there was porn ads displaying.   All HR checks for jobs will easily find me on this site, and they may not have an ad blocker - their impression will be that I am going to a porn site and typing in "Children"  - do you see me getting that job or a visit from the feds?   I see the feds!

You have a division of content when a person enters this site;  is it possible to have a second sign in to access the adult mods and keep that X-rated advertising on that side of the division?    Maybe that would ease the minds of some of the advertiser's that their product is not being associated with "porn."

Also,  "Finding Schoolmates" and dating sites will surely not care what our site's content is, from what I've seen they will advertise on a turd if it isn't flushed quickly enough.

In my opinion, what your modders on this site do is art.   It takes genius to figure out these animations and AI packages,  modeling, meshes, textures -  there is nudity and sex in art,  but it is still art.   I don't mind associating with artists of the caliber we have here,  but truthfully - don't like being associated with a site that has porn advertising - it reflects back on me when I am looking for work.   If I was looking to adopt a child (in real life, not in Skyrim) it would keep me from succeeding.

As adults, we should be allowed to bring adult content to our video game without being classified in the same bin as the type of advertising here is making us look like we are.

It is really a shame you can't have two different URLs, one for the adult side and one for the general side - that way if I go to the other side, I'll expect the ads to be racier.

Anyway, Thank you for your time and listening to me.  I appreciate the response, because truthfully I did not know/realize.

Edit:   I will say this though - anytime I go to a site and ads start popping open pages on my desktop like happened just before I wrote that OP - I do get very nervous that adware or worse is getting on my computer and I'll find some strange entries all over my registry again.

This just happened to me last month, which is why I now have Trend Micro - had to back up all my files, open up the bios and reset my operating system, and scan all my files before reloading them - then re-install all my games.

I was on here in early January downloading files,  but don't know if the virus came from here or not.   I don't want to go through that again, and I absolutely don't want to suddenly have porn pop-ups showing up on my desktop when I leave here.   That is a huge and valid concern, because places that carry that kind of advertising usually end up with those type of viruses attaching themselves to people's computers.

So thank you for letting me voice my concerns.

Just out of curiosity, why does it matter that the sex is real?

Advertising is all around the top/bottom/and on the right side of the screen;  then a full page sized pop-up took over the screen, I had to click on that pop-up ad to close it out.  People walking by my table in the lunchroom see all that going on and think I have come to a site to see that;  and then they see me typing in the word, "Children" in the search engine.   Do you think anyone would feel comfortable with this?

Because I had an ad-blocking toolbar up till this past week or so,  I did not know this site even had ads, never saw them before.  So I thought nothing about coming to this site    I never even realized that Google toolbar was working so well till this happened!

If I want an adult animation mod, I would not be looking that up to download while on the job, lunch hour or not.   That said, in applying for jobs, future employers will be coming across this site because I have used my same profile name on here that I use on all internet sites.

Had I known at the time I registered that this site had porn advertising, I probably never would have registered here.  I certainly would not have registered here using my profile name.  I do not like the idea of being associated online with porn sites - and THAT is NOT what Lovers Lab is, but those ads make us appear as if we are no different than that type of site.

That is what bothers me about it.   I would never go to an internet porn site, and that is how it has made this site look.

I am kinda taking offense to the fact you simply just do not understand what a treasure we have here, complete freedom of ideas, fetishes etc... and the best you have to say is i don't like the adds ,or have any idea what an add blocker is ... If you don't like what you see it can be turned off ,with a simple click . Or you try maintaining a server for 300k people and soon you will see glancing at some chick giving a blow job aint so bad.

would be interested to see your load order :P

I have a great appreciation for this site, for the modders on here - just don't appreciate the ads.

Where is this ad blocker  simple click?  I've checked over my settings, there isn't one.  Any advice would be helpful.

There are many ways a web site and hosting facility can make money without this form of advertising, but due to the sites primary content and imagery, I have to agree with Ashal, this limits options quite a bit. Private hosting is even more expensive than what Ashal does, but we get by with zero on line adds, our setup may be more diversified in it's service and support offerings.

Can we open up a dialogue about these other options?  I'd be very interested.   Truthfully, never realized/knew the problem.

Turning off Ad Blockers is one way to contribute to this site the other is what I did many years ago and tried to help each and every person I could. This helps newer members fix their issues and many will stay for the conversations and other fun things that goes on. increasing and making this site stronger can also help. Maybe some of those new people will keep their ad blocker off :D

It was hard at first to get use to the types of ads I seen here but after awhile they just faded into the background and I barely noticed them. Ashal does go through some serious effort to make sure that the locations and amounts are fair and not impeding on the reason for someone to be here with mods and other fun things like the Big board of fun. I am not too concerned with those Ads as well and like other contributors stated would be willing to accept a few more ads to help out if needed.

This has come up time and time again and each time it seems as if Ashal has problems getting a method to receive the money without risking getting ripped off loosing contributions and/or harming those kind enough to donate. Most reputable places that will handle money won't deal with sites that are considered porn sights. I agree it would be nice to have the ability to donate even a dollar once in awhile to help out.

I agree, and until I read that earlier link I did not know that PayPal can't be used here!   That is how I payed for the lifetime premium membership at Nexus.

So how would anyone contribute if no pay sites will handle us?

What's the solution? Fuck if I know. I don't think the answer is moving to premium content models though for what it's worth, a lot of ad blocker advocates suggest this, but the dirty truth is that the vast majority of users would be completely outraged by their previously free, ad-supported, content suddenly required payment. Even if it were more profitable in the long run, many sites simply want to provide something to as many people as possible and be hassle free to manage on their end, and having to deal with payment processing is anything but hassle free.

My half-baked solution, make ad blockers work in the opposite direction by default. Block sites that are particularly bad and greedy with their ads, while the average site somebody might visit just once can still get their due or risk being blacklisted by repeat visitors.

Without totally changing the site which i don't think anybody would want as its good as is and i think a lot of peeps would be scared off it they had to make accounts/pay to try the adult mods in the beginning i think the only real area you could change would be to alter the download timer and whether multiple downloads are allowed at the same time.

Of cause then bandwidth would potentially go up so higher costs etc so it would be a bit of a balancing act in how much it would cost to remove those.

Another idea might be for extended tech support if you pay a subscription although finding people with the knowledge, time and will to provide that might be an issue.
