Strange installation behavior .....

I use Wrye Bash bain installer. I use a new fresh game

I have

skse 1.7.2

Sexlab Framework 1.6 alpha

skyui 4.1

papyrusutil 3beta3

I install CF RC 10, save, exit, run fnis, load : everything is OK I have CF RC 10 installed

I then install MNC 8.23, taking care to uncheck creatureframework.esm, so it install just MNC, SLNC, SLNCDG, SLNCDB and HC

I run fnis and reload my save

A message box appear saying : creature framework downgraded to RC8. When I check CF in MCM it says version RC8

What did I do wrong please ?

Install creature framework last.

Sorry, it doesn't work :

installed MNC, the CF RC 10 and ingame It says I have CF RC 8.

I had not this problem when I used Nexus Mod Manager, it appeared since I switched to Wrye Bash Bain installer.

Make sure that CF RC 10 is below MNC in the wrye bash installers window and that you have a green plus sign in front of it after installation and a yellow plus sign for MNC.

To me says R9.

Maybe he forgot to change the version number.

Anyways, MNC works fine with the included CF so there's no actual need to update.

Hey, all!!  When I start a game I get a window that says "Creature Framework has been downgraded to R9, and things will be broken."  I have my load order as specified/required,  Since I also have More Nasty Critters installed I'm supposed to disable the MNC esp, but should I do that in the Steam/Skyrim folder or on the Mod Organizer window?

I'm not getting any boners on the animals, and the action scripts are indeed broken/don't work.

Thanks for any and all help, in advance.

Which mod installer do you use ? That's what happened to me when I tried wrye bash bain installer, so I reverted to NMM and all is fine now.

Hey!  I use MO for an installer and LOOT for load order.... both of which work very well.... although I sometimes have to move things around in MO manually.  I had this problem once before, but then I put MNC and Creature Framework directly in the Steam / Skyrim folder, and things were OK.  But it didn't work this time (I had to re-install my game).

I suppose I'll try taking MNC and CF out of the Skyrim folder and install them using MO and see what happens.

Posted

Do that.

If you don't want to use the CF that's in MNC, load CF AFTER MNC on the left side. Open MNC in MO and disable the CF esp using the dialog. Let LOOT take care of the right side.

The reason that CF includes scripts and stuff that you don't want MNC to override. Loading CF after MNC on the left makes sure you get CF's version of the scripts. You can't do that on the right because Skyrim insists on loading esm's first, so disable the CF esm in MNC and even though the version you want is loaded first, it won't be overridden.

MO will complain in its triangle icon, but this one you can ignore.

Hmm, this mod seem incompatable with increasedSpawns.

I've had a couple of crashes with both of them installed, and my Papyrus Logs allway end in something like

Thanks. I'll give that a try.  I've modded a lot of games over the past 25 years, but this one is a big PITA.  There are a few other mods I'd like to use... like changing the skeleton on my player (female RCOTS) so she's SOS compatible, but I need a stable game first.  I'll get back as to if your suggestion worked or not.

By the way... any reason you can think of as to why I can't get Papyrus to generate a Log file?  When I set it up to log the game, it won't even generate the Log Folder to put the log into, and my putting a Log Folder in manually doesn't work, either.  No, nothing there is set as Read Only.

That log message has nothing to do with your problem. CF doesn't ever disable/remove/add actors from the game world at all, so it's certainly one of your other mods.

So I get an error saying "The Version of Creature Framework does not work with mmy version of Jcontainer, or I may be missing Jcontainer," even though I have Jcontainer 3.2.3. I have More Nasty Critters, Sexlab Hentai Creatures and Nude Creatures, and Creature Framework RC10. All the mods I did not specify version are all at latest versions. Any idea to fix this?

Because CF outputs a lot of messages, so it's most likely to be at the end - it's most likely just a coincidence.

I had the same issue.  What worked for me is to decrease the size of the cloak to .25 cells and decrease the pulse to 1 or 2 minutes.  Next, disable all debug messages to the console and log.

I thought of trying this and suspect that it worked because of how the papyrus VM seems to deal with references that leave the cell, by throwing an error, and the potential amount of CPU operations needed with a larger cloak that processes actors more ofter versus a smaller cloak that doesn't.

My first thought is, check the stupid stuff. MO has per-profile ini files, so you have to have it set in the ini file associated with the profile you're running. If you edit the ini through MO, it will do the right thing.

I've found what the problem was.

Like you said it came from an other mod, from Perkus Maximus in fact.

I was kind of mislead by the papyrus line saying "removed active actor".

Thanks for the reply.  Papyrus is a big PITA, but at the same time is a main player in being able to play Skyrim in the first place.  But, not being very familiar with it, how would I go about changing/creating an MO ini file to reference Papyrus?  I've checked around on this site and a few others, with no mention of having to do so.  That seems to me to be something that the Steam/Skyrim game would do by itself.

You have to turn on the debug log, it's not on by default.

Add these lines to skyrim.ini:

bEnableLogging=1

bEnableTrace=1

bLoadDebugInformation=1

They should be under the line that says [Papyrus]

You can find skyrim.ini in your mod organizer by clicking the little puzzle pieces in the top bar (hint is "Tools", choose the "INI Editor").

Yep.... already knew that, but I wanted to be sure what you meant.  Papyrus does not create a Log file in the MyDocs/My Games/Skyrim folder, or anywhere else for that matter. Even if I create one myself, and enable the three lines you mentioned (that are already there), no log is created.

I usually have the skyrim.ini and the skyrimprefs.ini as Read Only so Steam can't do anything to them.  However, for this type of crash testing I turn that off and run the game 'till it crashes and..... nothing.

(Thanks, though, for the MO link to the ini files.  I hadn't noticed that before).  I'll enable the lines again thru MO and see what happens, and let you know.

I screwed my game somehow (or Animal Mansion did), and no longer can I sell or buy anything, 'nor discuss quest particulars with various NPC's, which means there's about a dozen of more things I can't do to continue the game.  I put my most recent Save Game thru the Save Game Cleaner, and no luck there at all.  level 37, and I R-E-A-L-L-Y do not want to start a new game.  I suppose I could try starting another profile/new game thru MO and see what happens; but I'd sure like to fix whatever is causing that.

Thanks for your time, by the way.  I very much appreciate it.

PS: What does it mean on LL that I "don't have permission" to view something?  I was looking for something called "Lori Mod".  I must have seen it somewhere, noticed it was on LL, then clicked on the link, but I get the noted message.
