I finely finished my clean run  with all DLC's!!! Only took me about 4200 saves lol. Now I can start downloading mod's including this one. Looks like I will have to wait still :(.

Good thing come to those who wait. I will pray for good luck to you guys ;)

Kudos to you, I'm too much of a mod addict to get through that. Course, it really seems open ended when you're swamped with dozens of quest choices when you're using as many mods as I do. Should really trim it down sometime to increase stability though. Hard part is deciding what mods I can part with lol.

is the sheath available for download yet .3.

Not yet. While my main computer is down, I'm powerless. I did find some files in my G-Docs thankfully but I've yet the chance to test them to see if they were my latest additions. If not, hopefully its not too far back.

And for the record, this add-on will strictly be SoS and NOT part of the source. It says this on the original posting, was hoping that would diffuse any possible confusion.

is it working yet? D:

Though it's probably too much to ask for, if this were to be done by sometime near the end of this week, that'd be perfect, since I'm rebuilding skyrim to hopefully be more stable.

To make finding the images of your results easier, could you add them to the opening post, please? (Or even just a link to a gallery with them all)

I've considered doing just that, however, those that watch this thread for updates wouldn't be notified if I simply edited the OP with images. I'll look into it further when I have the time. Right now I'm tying not to have a meltdown of an anxiety attack upon MSI for basically softbricking my notebook.

If they can't(won't) fix their screwup then I'm going to need to find a clean untouched download of win8 64bit elsewhere x_X

Oh, I didn't mean post there instead of as a new post, but in addition to. Or, again, an image gallery (Photobucket and Imgur let you do this nicely), since anybody new to the thread can just click the gallery link and see it all.

Aye, that would be doable, I've already a Picasa (G-Docs) sub account and many of the screenshots go there for preparation on my secondary PC anyway lol In that case I'll look into utilizing my Picasa to visually update then. Only problem I'd foresee is categorizing things so new from old can easily be spotted at a glance; ofcourse doing this without a million folders.

'till then, MSI has 'graciously' made another set recovery discs they say will work this time and will ship them out 'soon' they say... ... ...might be a sequel to yesterdays yelling session if I don't get tracking #s as soon as Friday :/

Edit!

Back to the update side of things, a few mates have suggested I use twitch or screencapture, whatsitsface. I just might and have a sticky link in my signature showing if its active or not if that is allowed on this site. At least by the time I get my notebook back up and running I should be able to get back to regular weekend R&D time now that I'm only working one job again.

Ah, the joys of warranty service. Very glad that I do my own system building now.

By the way, have you tried using Ubuntu to transfer the files you need from one drive to another? I can't recall what you said your initial PC problem was. In the middle of doing a college project, so I'm somewhat distracted and pressed for time. And I'm concentrating hard enough (and on few enough hours of sleep) that the room seems to move periodically...

Maybe my head is just tilting.

Short version:

I was hacked and the end result crashed my HDD bad enough that I couldn't fight back. As soon as I powered on the notebook it would BSoD moments after logging in and eventually it got so bad that it would BSoD before windows would even boot. CPU also almost bit the dust because of how badly it was being overloaded. Not sure what he used to get at me but let's just say, don't piss off your ex especially if he's a better hacker than you.

As for data transfer, I wasn't going to risk infecting my only other PC; so my notebook was isolated until I got my recovery discs and now I'm battling it out with MSI's crap CS depo (unless it's because I called after-hours that I was transferred overseas, I dunno, I've NEVER gotten those idiots before when contacting MSI)

And well, a warranty isn't worth crap if your customer service depo. doesn't speak the same language and/or has a hard time understanding common phrases (or rather, if they just don't give a dame)

Man, that's a really bad string of things. The CPU issue kinda sounds like a forced overclock, IMO, but I've not heard of anyone actually trying to do that maliciously. If you don't want to risk cross contamination, I would think that simply using Ubuntu to get access to the disk would be sufficient protection. As long as you aren't actually loading the damaged OS, I can't see how it would contaminate the other drives. Just make absolutely certain that the computer that you use to access the data isn't set to boot off the hard drive, and instead boots off the Ubuntu live disk you create. This is what I've done to recover files when people change passwords on computers I'm an admin for, or open themselves up to viruses.

If you want, I can give you a link to the Ubuntu site, and you can install it to a flash drive (although, if you're concerned about contamination, you might be best just burning it to a DVD). Then, you can just copy your files to another hard drive. Might be something to try if the MSI stuff doesn't help.

I should mention again (from an earlier post) I've already attempted to reinstall Win8 with the recovery discs MSI provided which then basically 'softbricked' my notebook.

In short, everything has likely been formatted already.

It's my understanding that re-installing (or upgrading) Windows is not supposed to overwrite non-operating system files, but given that something has clearly gone Horribly Wrong, that may not hold true in this case.

There is a process for resetting the machine to factory defaults that will get rid of everything, but you didn't try that, did you?

I'm new to this site and skyrim modding in general and so I apologize if this was brought up already.

I'd be happy to help you get your data back.

1) if a format did occur: Ubuntu can help. A format from windows likely isn't the end of the world. The files are still on the harddisk, it's just that the indexes don't know where to find it. You can use a live CD/DVD/USB to boot into a temporary install of Ubuntu. It installs into RAM which will clear once you restart, so no worries about contamination. Once Ubuntu loads live from the CD/DVD/USB, you can install additional software to help recover that data. Again, this software installs into RAM and will clear on restart or shutdown. Once you install the recover tool, you'll need a destination for your data (USB flash drive?). Once all the data you need is recovered, you can also run a virus scan on the fresh flash drive just to be sure nothing is infected. It's a pretty easy process that I'd be happy to walk you through.

2) if a format did not occur: Ubuntu can also help. If you're worried about cross contamination, you can run a live CD/DVD/USB. Ubuntu LIve will install into RAM and your RAM clears once your computer restarts and/or shutsdown. Turn computer off, only connect the contaminated drive, connect USB drive with Ubuntu Live, Turn on and boot from USB. There should be an option for running it Live.

I can't post the link to it, but the live distro you would want to use is called Ubuntu Rescue Remix.

Either way, I'd be more than happy to assist with attempting to get your data back.

Message me and I'll give you my contact info.

Do you think antispyware programs could help in any way? There's one called "SuperAntiSpyware", and that title is not a childish exaggeration.

Ah, I've come up with another idea for a follower..although not a name yet. A vampire one, one that has kind of embraced becoming such, but isn't a monster like most of the vampires of skyrim are. He only drinks the blood of the wicked(Bandits, bigots, ect.) and occasionally animals, and does his best to keep from being overtaken by the bloodlust. And the main reason for him allowing himself to become a vampire, is because he's been around quite a few great old people..and watched them die of old age, namely his parents, and a few others on his travels. The very thought of dying of old age terrifies him, so in a near-death encounter with a vampire, he allowed himself to be bitten, and eventually turned into one. He also seems to have his head in the clouds, believing he could do some good in Tamriel indefinitely now that he as achieved 'immortality'.  Maybe down the line of making him, give him an option to turn you into one, if you aren't one already. Maybe even some quests for him, and for him to be marriageable, after the quests of course. I know this seems to be alot, but I get kinda ambitious when I see follower mods..especially with those greater ones out there, like with Hoth and such. xD

When it comes to Malware and Spyware, I highly recommend "MalwareBytes" and "Spybot S&D" (both are also free.

As I offered you in PM, if you need help with data retrieval I may be able to assist. Also - a good app to look into is one called Sandboxie - and its one Ive used before. It allows you to load data/devices in a special isolated memory area so if something goes wrong, you hit a button and no harm done to your system.

Regardless - I wish you the best of luck. I've been in similar place before with my own PC/Laptop.

No, it's not..things like this take time, and no amount of fussing is going to speed it up. Be patient and do something else.

Posted

Just a general 'Thank you!' to the patient supporters (you're awesome!)

Yes, as mentioned above 'things take time'! Especially when there are only two people working on it in what spare time they have outside of work, study, family and other things. Life events and other issues do slow us down, but we will have this finished even it takes a while.

Please remember this mod is in essence 'art', and when it is done, it will be done. I can't make it happen faster without the risk of releasing something flawed which will not be worth having anyway.

Seriously this will be EPIC though... Now back to work! *cracks whip*

Posted

Well, good news is I got MSI to bend over and just ship me a copy of win8.1 pro :D Once that is here, hopefully all systems will be fullspeed ahead and can get back into me weekend R&D!

Turns out a good'ol fashioned yelling session still can get you decent customer service :) (unfortunately... now I'm horse and on the verg of an angered anxiety attack XD)

Just remember, you're probably your own worst critic. You might be able to look at something and be able to say "I could have done that better", but odds are we won't be able to tell. And if we can, that's why you're beta testing here.

In other words, keep in mind the Dunning-Kruger Effect. (Experts think more poorly of their abilities than unskilled amateurs. Fascinating stuff, really.)

when will this mod be available? I really need this mod so I won't just get a square shaped hole in the mesh of Lykaios males crotch plus it would be nice to be to be able to play as one and screw a few Khajiit along the way.
