...0... Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 First im a huge fan of DA:Origin so maybe im not objective enough. Dragon age 2 ive played the demo read alot commands of players saw gameplay videos and i never bought it i thought it was cheap console crap. Now they bring DA:I but reading about combat which is still very limited and bring mainly DA2 characters back( they maybe great but i never played DA2 so i dunno( i loved morrigan and ogren(original faces) my favorites) plus still more modern gameplay and not old school style, they bring back at least origin open world explore back. But reading those interviews with the new style bioware team im not slightest convinced it will bring me the fun and pleasure i had with Origin. I will btw never be a fan of action combat and DA2 style ever so don't bother convince me hehe. What do you think?
Guest carywinton Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I played both DA:O and DA2 , they both had their strengths and weaknesses as do most all games. DA:I will be something far beyond anything you have experienced. Not just in game play but in something no one has ever seen before and simply was not possible with the current game engines available. This is all I can say, just wait and see. It will be different than DA:O to be sure, but similar in at least one aspect that seemed to be missing in DA2, story and character development, I would put this on par with the work that was focused on for only one single character in Bioshock Infinite. This will be found throughout DA:I and lots more physics surprises.
GodKingLaw Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I'm a Dragon Age: Origins fan... DA2 was lacking in a few major ways but I'm still excited for any extensions of the project.
blabba Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I'll give DA:I a try. I played DA:O and my mind was blown by how amazing it was. DA:2 was shit, That's my opinion and as far as I care, that's the only opinion that matters. There was no excuse for it. DA:I, I will try, but I have no expectations and have mentally prepared myself for the death of what could have been an amazing franchise (to me anyway). I expect nothing more from most dev companies that work on 'multi-platform' games. To me 'multi-platform' = Consoles, with PC coming as an after thought. Go indie, their the only ones left making innovative projects and actually pushing new and interesting concepts in gaming.
Kpnut Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I don't really care how good it is, after the pile of shit that was ME3 I refuse to give Bioware (and therefore EA) any of my money.
...0... Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 I don't really care how good it is, after the pile of shit that was ME3 I refuse to give Bioware (and therefore EA) any of my money. Yeh forget to mention EA and origin which i also don't like. But im a gamer and already boycotting alot of games made by EA and Ubisoft with there damn Uplay(whatchman i won't play becouse steam+Uplay needed) if DA:I is very good and more like DA:O i dunno if i can resist? But i can resist first months see what players say how its recieved on PC if bad console port then i won't play it even if its best game ever period, and i wait for price to drop to half that i can wait. So change i will play this is maybe around 10% i gues. PC gamer here, so every game even remotely console i'll skip, unless its modded so its playable for PC again.
Angrybird Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 ME2 was the last game I bought from Bioware, I wouldn't trust them to bring me tea.
FallenWarrior Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 First im a huge fan of DA:Origin so maybe im not objective enough. They're bringing back the DA2 charcters, despite saying in an interview that they wouldn't? DA:2 was shit, That's my opinion and as far as I care, that's the only opinion that matters. There was no excuse for it. I agree, got the game from the garbage bin for 50 SEK (7.19 USD)
jxm Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Wait,... They're bringing back the DA2 charcters, despite saying in an interview that they wouldn't? Hm? It was quite early confirmed that both Varric and Cassandra Pentaghast from DA2 will return/be companions. And considering that DA3-storyline will heavily rely on the Mage-Templar-Conflict started in DA2 I do see no reason as why DA2-chars should be left out. Especially because the companions sure weren't the weak spot of DA2. Alright, first I am a huge DA-Origins fan. I love this game and consider it to be one of the best RPGs of the last years. I love the world Bioware created here, how it borrows heavily from our own societies and religion and histories, but gives it all its own twist. I also loved the Bioware-chars, and I include DA2 here, as stated above DA2-NPCs weren't bad. In fact, I never liked Morrigan and couldn't care less if she returns or if her silly storyline with the "godchild" is continued. But I strongly suppose it will play some role here...so I will have to suffer her annoying and overrated presence it seems...oh well, if that's the price to pay for a return to Thedas.. So I am fairly open to DA3 and I won't condem it before I have played it. Will it have the same magic as DA-Origins for me? I am sure it won't, for several reasons. But will it be a bad game, just because it was made by New Bioware/EA? I am not that fast to judge this on some previews yet. Previews and informations before release are always misleading anyway... But I am also not blindly believing that DA3 will redeem the garbage-crap Bioware turned Mass Effect into with ME2 and 3, But these two mostly suffered from horrible storytelling (with again the NPCs actually still the strongest part), which can only be fully judged after release... The only thing I am really concerned is that DA3 might hurt the "canon" established by me after DA-O...whcih involved the only tolerable ending for my favorite char: Marriage to Alistair, Queen of Ferelden (and eventually an middle-finger to the Grey wardens ... )
Kinky Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 They are all good. DAO was great as introduction but they messed up Qunari. DA2 was another story in the same world (Smaller part of that world). DA:O had lot more then DA2 (but for DA2 story DA2 had enough of everything). DA:I will be huge world as it seems and i hope story will be good. I mostly play RPG games for story. Not playing DA2 would be missing big part of it.

The question is who else do they plan on bringing back? Mind you, I have no interest in the game because of the plot line from DA2 or from what I've seen of combat (pre-alpha) or from the "borrowed" harpoon move from Scorpion in Mortal Kombat.
jxm Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I already knew about Varric and Cassandra. The question is who else do they plan on bringing back? Mind you, I have no interest in the game because of the plot line from DA2 or from what I've seen of combat (pre-alpha) or from the "borrowed" harpoon move from Scorpion in Mortal Kombat. Actually I don't need anyone back from origins, I would be fine without all of them. Though of course I was also part of the minority that wasn't pissed off because DA2 didn't feature my Warden ... But fair enough. I liked the plot of DA2, though it lacked a bit of course, mostly due to the 10 year story arc and weak conclusion at the end. But the conflict between mages etc, it is promising. And gladly not just another Darkspawn-Blight... People that have no interest in DA3 simply shouldn't play it then. But I guess this won't stop a lot of these people getting all into ragemode anyway once it is released...^^
Heromaster Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I agree, the story in DA2 was really good. A complete new approach how to portrait a hero(ine) and the influence of his/her decisions. It lacked in other regions like overuse of level-design reuse. All in all it still was a great game and I'm looking forward to DA:I.
Emberheart Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I think looking for affirmation from others who share the same opinion on whether or not a game is good or bad compared to previous installments, without having more than a few hands-on experiences, is still nothing more than idle speculation and immature nagging at a company that made the conscious choice to have no two installments of its franchise feel or play quite the same. I'll form my opinion when I played it, as I should.
Darkening Demise Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I'll try DAI but DA2 killed DA pretty good. Hopefully they improved upon their mistake. I'm just glad that character creation is coming back, if the information was correct. The change to romance is nice too. Let's hope the scenes won't be too awkward and some modder will come in and do a worse job claiming 'better sex scenes'. ^^ The maps will be bigger which is nice. DAO was too small.

I do agree though, DA2 isn't nearly as bad as the internet would have you believe. And DAO isn't quite good as the internet would have you believe Regardless, it won't change my standard approach to new games: let those in the rush do the testing for me
Lovely Rose Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 i honestly cant wait. DA2 (was rushed done) which i kinda blame for being shitty. but than agian doesnt change anything, the game still lacked badly. I liked da2, i played da2 more than da1 actually.(modded it more to) Plus felicia day as an elf. come on.. ANYWAYS, before my mind goes in the gutter thinking of felicia day!!! I dont bother reading "reviews" and such about new games, honestly. Play it, you dont like it. Take it back!.. I HATE da2 style of fighting. Yet i still play it alot (love the story, side quests, options in game) HATED ending for it thou. down right hated it. But I mean. Inquestion seems neat. You can pick race(yay) Being a Qunari MIGHT BE FUN, but you gotta remember they are extremly hated (and feared) I honestly, already making plans to pre order it (tight on money ) and even if its jUST like DA2, i wont back down. Cause i know there stories are golden. Aslong as im glued to the screen im fineee. Ill deal with how bad the game play is. (not saying da2 style was bad bad) BUt yea.
winny257 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 it is a game which I'm long been looking forward to.I've played both of the other parts (DAO and DA 2), DA 2 was not so bad. bioware would have a little more time with the development allowed, then it would have been a very good game.Dragon age: Inquesition shall also not an open world, but the areas are huge, but see for yourself, here's a 30 minutes game play.
germanicus Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Can't wait for DA3. Played DAO and DA2. Love it both parts, although I enjoyed more playing DAO. Morigan is not so beautiful in DA3. I don't think I will try to seduce her. winny - thanks for the video and insights of the game.

I appreciate that after publication of the game, it will not last very long. that some good modder make the game even more beautiful! then Morigan will be a hot sex bomb, I'm really happy.
germanicus Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 winny - I hope that modders are preparing themselves for this game. I can't wait to see my PC licking Morigan's pussy. She better be beautiful, otherwise, no pussy licking.
ElectricSheep Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I was never a fan of the franchise to begin with; don't quite like the setting plus I'm really, really tired of dragons and "the chosen one" story lines. DA:O had some neat character interaction, but the characters themselves were boring and the gameplay grow tedious on me pretty quick. Just filler combat, filler combat and even more filler combat that you would past through by using the same trick over and over again (freeze/paralyze with magic and let the melee fighters do the job). Meh. The second one was just a rushed out piece of shit and a torture to play, hence I gave up after a few hours. I'm not much interested in this one, though I'll probably gonna give it a try one way or another, if you follow me. It looks like some Skyrim wannabe with Walt Disney art direction. Meh.

Meh. if you mention ever skyrim, "compare" skyrim, with, morrowind! then we compare skyrim with dragon age. decision possibility DA various options, skyrim no! face mimic DA beautiful expressive example, skyrim no! emotions (love, connectedness) very nice feeling, skyrim nothing! I could cite many more, skyrim is just become good by modding.
germanicus Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 So, whinny, if I understood you correctly, Modding for DA will be much easier? Are they already modders who can do modding for DA? I hope that Bioware will improve elf's faces. They were very ugly in DA2.
ElectricSheep Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 if you mention ever skyrim, "compare" skyrim, with, morrowind! If you got the idea that I consider Skyrim superior to Dragon Age, then you're wrong, because I don't think much of Skyrim either. The game is shallow, boring and does absolutely nothing right. Morrowind, on the other hand, despite all the flaws, was a great game to explore and collect stuff. In Oblivion/Skyrim level scaling and the lack of unique loot kills the fun, which leaves godawful writing and linear fedex quests.
