So I have the quests, all the dialogue is working, they strip nude when getting ready to get down and dirty, then they just stand there. Nothing happens. The animations are not playing. I've installed FNIS perfectly, I installed the Sexlab framework exactly as described, and I followed your install instructions for this mod to the letter. I have this mod at the very bottom of my load order as well. What do you think went wrong?

 

And you did actually click to the button to install SexLab, right?  SL 1.60.2 needs to be activated through the MCM.  Some have forgotten this necessary step.

Here's a serious question - why would you want to?  Dawnguard is a long and boring slog of a poorly rated expansion.  Last time I checked it had a Metacritic score in the Sixties.  That's awful.

 

I honestly am just curious why you would want to forego anything that makes such a dull and poorly written expansion a little more entertaining.  That's an honest question - usually people love this because, jeebus, anything to relieve the boredom.

 

Anyways, yep - totally easy.  Don't hit on her when you pull her out of the Crypt.  You'll lose your shot at her romance and not have to bother with it.

You know I actually sat and thought about it and I cannot remember anyone ever asking me how to avoid Serana's quest.  The question is always how do I get the quest.

Probably the obvious of don't do the dawnguard expansion is why nobody has asked how to avoid before

 

With both the DLC's once you have done them once unless a mod requires you to do them i don't think anybody really goes through with them, i hadn't bothered going back to the new zone in dragonborn until Min's DDi quest forced you to go there to get out of chastity belt

Oh, yeah well I guess I could have just said "don't play Dawnguard".  But, I mean, if you were going to play it I've never had anyone ask how to play it and NOT have Serana's romance.  That is totally new, hence my curiosity.

 

Personally I have notes on how to play through it but skip through much of it.  For example, my guide for hopping through that Snow Elf wayshrine stuff in 2 minutes:

I think i must be one of the three or so people on earth who absolutely loves Dawnguard - specially the forgotten valley part. Really! The only part i find really tedious is the Soul Cairn bit, but that's because i've done it a awful lot of times already and it gets old after the first. Not to mention that i friggin' LOVE the "Lost to the Ages" quest, and i wasn't aware it even existed 'til my fourth or fifth playthrough. The Serana romance is so awesome for me because it feels like something that totally SHOULD be in the expansion to begin with, and it falls along the questline very naturally.

What's not to love about Serana's romance? I'm curious too.

Congratulations Fox you finished in 4th place for October. I think that is pretty good considering your late start and the stiff competition. Personally I would rather have your mod than any of the others on the list.

I really like Dawnguard myself, on the Dawnguard side. Harkon is a gibbering idiot, and the plot needs serious re-writing, but the locations and NPCs are way better than almost anything in the base game. Modded out, it becomes excellent.

 

I'm just waiting for the new Serana AA quest to play it again.

Wonderful adventures! Those that I played so far are a real nice enrichment of Skyrim. My favorite until now is Ysolda and how you mixed the new plot into the vanila quests.

 

I wonder if you would like to get some more ideas for further adventures? Just only in whiterun some basic plots come immediately into my mind, like:

 

 

 

• The forgotten wife:
  • Ahlam: not sure about the initial trigger, maybe having to fetch something from the priests of dibella or mara for her? Like a potion or a recipe for boring husbands. So you prove your interest and finally she accepts to give her in the end, what her husband is lacking.. no need for the recipe or potion anymore
• Who is the father of..?
  • Carlotta: something about discovering Balgruuf being the real father of Mila, but leaving her unaccepted ... ooor
  • more funny: Alfhild Battle-Born and the real father of Lars. This would impose Idolaf as being not man enough. The real father could be Andurs - doing dicretely his best to fulfill a wish that otherwise would never have happend. Now Alfhild has a child but is still missing love... and the player steps in
• No man admitted:
  • Alternate plot for Carlotta: no man comes between her and her daughter? Maybe because she prefers girls? .. or the dragonborn? This would make a completion of "The Horn of Jurgen.." a prerequisite
• Thanks for the rescue:
  • Olfina: you woud need her letter to Jon to trigger the quest. I think this quest should evolve around the successful completion of "Missing in action" . 

 

 

 

.. and this is only a collection of first ideas .. I guess there could be a few dozen more. Just raise the flag

I shouldn't be so hard on Dawnguard, I guess.  But, mentally, I find myself picking apart it's plot like Red Letter Media ripping into the Star Wars prequels. 

 

However, I find that the more beautiful Serana gets with Mods, the less the plot bothers me.

Yup, the Dawnguard plot is silly on the Dawnguard side, and ridiculous if you decide to work for Harkon. That's pretty much all of Skyrim for you. I keep playing because, despite the horrible plot and pacing, Skyrim is a great modding platform.

 

And Pretty almost always beats Smart.

It honestly sounds like a FNIS issue.

 

Besides having the Mod installed you need to run the FNIS tool Generate for users to build the behavior files.  Also, when you first install SexLab you need to go into it's MCM and turn it on.  It doesn't start by itself.

 

SexLab's install instructions on the SexLab Framework page are what you need to pay close attention to.

 

If you've run the FNIS tool and turned SexLab ON, please try adding the little Mod SexLab Matchmaker to your load order which is a spell for testing SexLab.  If you cast the spell and nothing happens it is a SexLab installation issue.

 

If something Does happen and Animations still are not playing in Amorous Adventures, then I would recommend completely Uninstalling and re-installing Amorous Adventures.  And if that doesn't fix it (and at this point really it should all be working) then I would need to see your Papyrus Log.

 

Really sounds like one of the first things I mentioned.

I have never heard of a conflict with those Mods, but then again I personally don't actually know.  Maybe someone else does.

 

I guess you could try just dropping them out of your load order and taking a look.

I have completely removed SexLab, Amorous Adventures, and SexLab matchmaking, as well as AP, ASXXX, and Icha Love, and recompiled FNIS with ONLY FNIS installed. I'm going to reinstall SexLab, SexLab Matchmaking, and AA and see what happens.

 

Not sure if it's worth mentioning, but I get some kind of error line in FNIS due to my XPMSE skeleton when it is compiling everything when running Generate FNIS. It says "ERROR(2011): OLD FNIS version? Wrong line in Animation List, line  3 (..\..\meshes\actors\character\animations\XPMSE\FNIS_XPMSE_List.txt):  AAprefix xpe"

 

Also on the MCM menu, even when I have generated FNIS, it still has a question mark next to that requirement.

I'm not sure if you know but I completed the lovely letter quest in camilla's favor(by showing her both letters), and was still able to get her as my lover. I'm not sure if the bug was fixed or if it's due to the fact that I use SexLab solutions as well, which alters that quest a little bit. either way you might want to make a note in the text doc about it.

So I think I solved my issue. Turns out I'm an idiot and had XPMSE for FNIS 6.0 installed when I'm running the older 5. versions of FNIS because 6.0 is in beta. The question mark went away next to the Generated FNIS for Users requirement and I'm about to test Matchmaker.

About the Lydia quest, the curiosity is killing me  - i know you said that it's "nothing epic", but the quality of the new quests is on a steep curve upwards at every new release.
