i say this needs its own page in the sexlab downloads so we can track the file for when it gets updated.

There are two distinct Apropos forum threads

- The support thread which is connected to the downloads and where all support - type questions should be posted.

- The Feature request and Descriptions submission thread (this one). This thread is for people to (1) request new features, (2) foster community development of description database and related content.

The link to the first thread is in the first post of this thread as Waxenfigure stated.

Only a minor update; Leito Kissing unique animation files added. Pre-Sex Foreplay supported. As a 'Foreplay' animation, it won't work until Apropos supports that tag.

Does it make sense to support non-consensual foreplay? does that even make sense?

I hate you so much, please kiss me?

No, not really. ;)

Had to ask, since opinions vary. I was stretching my imagination, employing the use of DD and feathers... Stretching too far?

Certainly. Even if neither partner intends to go "all the way" and it's just a session of heavy petting or something, accidents can happen.

Besides, it really depends on your definition of virginity. :)

But I'd make it a percent chance, not guaranteed.

Actually, now that I think about it (in terms of accidental virginity loss), it's certainly possible to have non-consensual foreplay... starts out nice and all, but then one person goes too far.

Ooh, yeah, baby, that feels so nice... what are you doing with those feathers? OUCH! Stop it! Dammit...

Probably less from the victim's perspective, but from the aggressor, an attitude of getting the victim worked up inspite of (probably) herself.  Or groping and fondling before moving onto the actual penetration.

may also need a separation between non-con and aggressive. Probably more applicable to themes.  Soft, sweet loving in bed at night vs sweaty, rolling in the dirt, foul language flying, and not caring who's around because you just absorbed a dragon soul and your arousal just went from 10 to 100.

I don't believe SexLab's Pre-Sex Foreplay option kicks in for rape, and I certainly haven't written rape files for the foreplay animations or Pre-Sex Foreplay-compatible animations. Once the Foreplay tag is supported, it would certainly work. I mean, you could write rape messages for, say, Arrok Foreplay, but I'm not sure how much sense it would make in-game.

I'm trying to stick to writing files I personally plan on using, so I'm only writing rape files for animations I actually plan on having switched on as 'Aggressive' in SexLab. I originally was gonna just write both rape & consensual for everything, then realised just how long that would take to produce content no one would ever trigger, so I stopped. I didn't remove the ones I had done though, which is why Arrok 69 still has rape files even though it's clearly not a rape animation.

SexLab itself labels rape as 'Aggressive'.

As far as consensual, rough sex goes, the distinction is already made by the animations themselves, hence one of the reasons Unique Animation support was added. Doesn't make sense for the message to be all tender and lovey-dovey when the dude is clearly choking the chick.

I guess a combination of your two posts is what I had in mind, forgetting about the usual " no foreplay for aggressive scenes " option not usually being checked. I was thinking that generally there would be a case for supporting the option for non-con foreplay, but that it would not be used in every case.  That and I've wrote some of my own aggressive lines for the the rapey scenes since that isn't my general thing.

Mostly a lurker here, but since I'm working on it, I thought someone else might be interested.

Currently my project for this is a DB based around a more shy perspective from the PC, to suit my own tastes, but if someone else wants the DB when I'm done then I'll gladly share it.

It's planned to be written for a female PC, but is there any interest for a male perspective?

I'm sure I speak for alot of people who are hopeless at writing things for themselves that any additional works to have available would be more than welcome.  Gooser is the mod developer, but the actual written content is intended to be a community effort of people sharing their databases written in their own style.

Especially with the addition of themes in the next version of Apropos, it will be easy for uses to include multiple databases from different writers and be able to control how they are selected... but without authors to help flesh out the feature it is some really cool options that don't actually have any content to back them up.

I personally use a female PC, but I know there are some that prefer male PCs.  You could always post database files in parts or just update as you go along like Decauk does if you wanted to follow up your female PC stuff with more content for a male PC.

If you use 3rd person shouldn't it work for both?

Also, definitely interested especially in 3rd person perspective.

There are separate files for male and female player characters. Depending on the writing, you could just copy and paste the female lines into the male file, but it might need some tweaks, especially with pronouns.   "I touch her breast" vs "I touch his chest" etc.

Thanks for the input, guys~

And Afa, third person is my preferred tense as well, so that is probably going to be written with more care than the other tenses. I'm going to try and keep things well written for all preferences though.

So, I suppose I'll write the female DB down, see how that is recieved then try the male perspective if all seems good.

Edit:

Almost done with the female solo files (Mostly for third person), they aren't all totally rewritten and some are just tweaked, but I certainly like them more than the originals.

Another question: Can you lose your virginity in a FF animation? What is the definition of losing your virginity in this sense? I'm tempted for now to hard code that option as False. Lots of questions - is it simply about the hymen, or about male semen + hymen, or just the experience of penetration???

Lots of questions - is it simply about the hymen, or about male semen + hymen, or just the experience of penetration???

That's the question, isn't it? What defines virginity, and what defines losing it?

Personally, I tend to define a "virgin" as someone who has not had a sexual experience. Penetration, breaking the hymen, etc. aren't necessarily part of it.

But that still begs the question... what is sexual experience? Fondling/heavy petting? Tonguing, lip kiss, open or closed mouth? Seeing someone naked? Lust from afar?

Really, you can define virginity as anything you want, and the definition depends on the person talking at the moment. It's an arbitrary line. I mean, obviously, or you wouldn't be asking the question. :)

Crowdsourcing the answer is a good way to do it, or... why not just go with Sexlab's stats? 0 sexual encounters = virginity, 1+ sexual encounter = not a virgin. FM, MM, FF, any other gender... doesn't matter. That way you won't have to do any extra work. ;)

In theory you are correct, but SexLab's stats are actually insufficient to determine virginity in real life. The Skill levels in the different areas of the body are accurate when they are over 0, but not all sex acts increase the skill levels by whole numbers. So it is possible to have a skill level of 0 in Oral but actually have had experienced oral sex. So Apropos actually tracks virginity until the SexLab stat is over 0.

Huh... I actually think you told me that before (or at least said it on this or the other thread), but I forgot. My bad. :(

Okay, well, if we have to draw an arbitrary line somewhere, how about this:

Thing is... you can have sex (defined right here as penis penetrating vagina) without breaking your hymen.

Erg... I've been messing with this for ten minutes here, writing and then erasing and then rewriting as various ideas crop up.

Okay. *think*

Okay. An arbitrary line, and very simplistic, but maybe it does the job...

Any sexual contact with another person counts as loss of virginity. Doesn't matter if it's a handjob, boobjob, vaginal sex, anal sex, MM, FF, MF, threesome, dragon sex, troll masturbation, etc... if there are 2+ individuals involved, you've lost your virginity.

It's awfully stark... but on the other end of the scale, you could give yourself a lot more work and apply the "virginity lost" tag to individual animations based on common sense + crowdsourcing (i.e. a boobjob means loss of virginity for the male but not the female says 51% of the readership, so that's how it goes).

I dunno...

I thought apropos already has oral, anal, and vaginal virginity checks?

If we are going to go with penetration as a definition then it can only happens if strap on is involve in F/F animation?

Ditto, I vote for this, if workable with your new(?) system.

It does have checks. My question is around new code I have added for FF support. In that case, I need to know if I need to perform the checks in FF code.

I assume that is going to be the scenario.

Love this mod. Makes scenes a lot better. One feature request though: I use Beeing Female along with Apropos, and it would be awesome if Apropos took vars from Beeing Female into account, and make appropriate descriptions based on those vars, such as the following (using 3rd person descriptions as example as it's what I usually use):

When the female actor is pregnant (preferably with distinctions made for different trimesters):

1st trimester: "<female actor>'s eyes widen out of concern for her unborn as <male actor> mounts her from behind"

2nd/3rd trimester (orgasm stage): "(<female actor>) YES! Cover my baby with cum!"

Could also have descriptions for different menstrual stages, such as when ovulating:

"(<female actor>) No! It's not a safe day! Don't cum inside!"

The wear and tear messages could also very well take these BF variables into account. Also, it would make a lot of sense if giving birth will severely degrade vaginal wear and tear, with multiple births dealing more damage.

I'll be more than happy to think of and write more descriptions that integrate Apropos with BF, if this idea ever takes off.

Are there tokens for controlling pronouns in the apropos message files?

Some of the blowjob animations get used for lesbians with strapons, so it would be nice to be able to replace "his", "him", "he", etc with tokens that would get filled in with the appropriate pronouns at runtime.

Example: from FemaleActor_ArrokBlowjob_Stage2.txt (third person)

"{ACTIVE} smiles down at the willing little {WHORE} slurping away at his {PENIS}."

could become

"{ACTIVE} smiles down at the willing little {WHORE} slurping away at {HISHER} {PENIS}."

Does Apropos support any tokens like that?

to my knowledge it does not at this point, and will not in the update.

since the files are setup for each M/F F/M pairing, you won't need variables, as you will know which is {PRIMARY}  and which is {ACTIVE} when writing it.

Will be unnecessary as Lesbian support is getting formal treatment.

Just a suggestion, perhaps you can do something regarding the nature of the text messages.

For example, first the texts are about the character being unwilling or unsure instead "hungering for dick", maybe those types of descriptions should be reserved for very promiscuous characters?
