I just tested it level 1, atomic wrangler, 1st client, 1st sex, 43 caps.  What sequence are you using?  Are you asking for money up front?  Are you asking if they can afford you?  Are you chasing after them?

I found some problems.  I think I've fixed the payment thing.  Private Erotic Dances are broken in 10.  New one incoming in a few.

For the record, I was a virgin, GS and then goodsprings, nothing fancy, just follow me, what did you have in mind, accept, go for it. In both cases, no message of payment showed up, no caps jingly sound, no option to "remind" them to pay me, and nothing in my inventory either.

Teeny bit of feedback:

  • Engaging in voyeur sex seems to add 10 to disposition.  No really.  On a clean start, some affection and flirting, agreed to voyeur, flirt, insta-girlfriend.  Sometime after that, I coerced, noticed that his disposition was then 1 after that, but then agreed to voyeur again, which put his disposition to 12.
  • The sex options I'm given seem to be voyeur and oral (giving, not receiving, although obviously it doesn't specify in the dialogue). I was using an old save, but then I couldn't remember if it had been clean saved with the v10+ or not so I restarted with a clean save.  Maybe it's more balanced now?
  • FWIW, I got a "committed submissive sex" request, but again, it ended up being a voyeur request.
  • I'm guessing that oral is all giving animations right now due to testing out soliciting?

  • What's the difference between coerce and seduce?

Voyeur sex is along side the random category.  In other words, agreeing to random sex (not knowing what it will be) will get you more returns at the beginnings of the relationship.  Specific acts get you more later in the relationship, and less in the beginning (if you're not good at them yet).  Anyway I'm getting carried away.

 

You get voyeur/random sex when they have no real preference.  It's the same reason CK get's the 'Whoa' dialogue sometimes.  It means none of their desires for specific sex acts hit, so they default to something general.  In your case it's voyeur/random, in his case it's dance/whoa.  You can control this with the 'misc' MCM settings for SexoutNG.  The chance that an NPC will prefer a specific type of sex depends upon your random sex type settings in 'misc'.  I prefer, 40/40/20 personally. Set yours the way you like.  But if you have them all really low, you can expect NPCs will say voyeur/whoa more often.

 

Yes sex needs more work, but they aren't all giving.  Giving is currently whoever actor B is, which can be the PC, if the PC is female or if the PC is male and his partner is dom.  Or if you're female PC and your partner is sub, they will be actor B.

 

Coerce is getting them to do what you want without giving anything in return (pushes them sub if successful).

Seduce is giving something they want in exchange for something you want (pushes them dom if successful).

Something occurred to me recently.  This mod is built around the idea that you play the vanilla game a bit, then play the relationship a bit, game, relationship, rinse, repeat.  That being the case, if you're never leaving your partner, you're missing out on an entire core chunk of the mod (effectively skipping it).  This mod assumes that you'll be separated occasionally, because this mod is designed not to take focus away from the main game. ie. This mod was never made to happen while out on missions.

 

I'm not quite sure what to do about this yet, but I can foresee it becoming more and more of a problem.  I'm currently trying to think of ways to get around this other than restricting relationships to sandbox companions.

All calculations that are set to take place while you're away (because this mod expects you to be apart).  I'm actually surprised you can carry out a relationship.  Or aren't continually frustrated because your advance is awkward.  I'm just guessing though because I haven't tested them firsthand yet.  Maybe it's right as rain.

 

I guess if you're happy with it I shouldn't complain.  I just don't want it to be 'half-assed' for you.

Let me preface this by saying the following:

  • You started making this because you wanted to play it.  No matter how many suggestions get shoved into this thread that you decide to implement, the end result still has to be a mod that you want to play.  If someone doesn't like something or thinks something should be added, they can always make a mod that adds/removes the thing/functionality.  I've already threatened to do as much if it gets TOO realistic.  :D    ("What do you mean you dated me just so you could get power armor training?!")
  • People play/roleplay differently.  For example, I don't like walking in game (Not even for sneaking.  I'm too impatient).  Some people NEVER fast travel.  People may use just some or all of the mod's functionality, and I'm sure that some will find interesting/unanticipated uses for it as well.


 

None of this is criticism.  This is just my personal play experience.

 

The mod isn't half-assed at all for me.  However, playing it as I do (one always there companion), it's actually a bit more unintentionally like cheater's mode (IRONY!).

 

I think that it calculates on cell changes, which could very well account as absence.  So he doesn't stay mad at me for an entire day (maybe leaving and reentering an NPC's cell also resets them?).  Got turned down for a date?  I don't know if it's supposed to go away for the entire day or not or if they're allowed to hang out with you and then go "on second thought, I will go on that date with you tonight."

 

What surprised me was that by walking (as in yes I'm actually cheating by using an item that makes my walk speed into my normal speed [don't go 3rd person or listen too closely to the sound of footsteps or have certain weapons out so that you don't see the ludicrous sway - and it's not immersion breaking) almost everywhere on a new, clean save, I got to sweetheart status in less than an hour.  That was anti-climactic.  I'm sure that the courtship would have gone longer had I not made the arbitrary "fuck it,  might as well find out if it's going to crash or not now instead of later" response to the first proposition unlike my normal "maybe" so as to not seem too easy (I don't know what's going on in all of your fancy opinion making variables).

 

However, when I got to sweetheart status a day or few ago after I stopped clean saving for every new version, it was the joyous squeal fest/angelic choir moment that it was supposed to be.

 

As a player, how do I draw that out?   Simple.  Run as I normally do and only stop to walk when I'm receptive to interactions (incidentally, that is not during an escort mission moving two children from one town to another one).  It's nice to be noticed, but once you are noticed, it's sometimes flirt, sex, lunch, flirt within a five minute period.

 

As a modder, how do you forcibly draw it out?

 

That's what I've been debating since I saw a second opportunity to ask a character for a date in a day after having been turned down once already. 

 

The "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" approach:  I know that everything (or almost everything?) is stored in ints.  But you could slow it by letting the stats count as a fraction for companions.

 

The "I'm around you all of the time so I can obviously put up with you, and I can trust you to kill the people who are trying to kill me. so get rid of your goddamned pants so we can fuck on this pile of corpses" approach:  My understanding (which could be wrong) is that people in life-threatening situations tend to bond faster than people in everyday situations/circumstances.  If you agree with that, no change is needed.

 


 

Since I overanalyze what I say/write, that's all I've got for now.  I feel that I should address your To Do list in this light later on since I think that's probably where your concerns are coming from.

 

Reemphasizing that I'm not asking or suggesting that you make any changes (unless you've decided that something I pointed out is broken).

 

TL;DR:  You are kicking ass.  Fuck names.

My concern is that I want this mod to be fully compatible with companions.  I don't want players with companions to get any 'less' of this mod, just because of their play style.  I'm also hoping this mod will add value to companions for myself.  That it gives me (someone who usually ignores companions), a reason to finally be interested in companions.

 

I brought it up mainly to get the question out there 'Should this mod change the way it expects the PC to be absent from the partner in any way?'.  The answer to which will probably just reveal itself over time and testing.

Long-ass thoughts about companions thread post 2.  Here we go.

 

I've always liked companions, and have been known to run around with several at a time.  Some people hate them and say that they only ever get in the way.

 

Preface:  Since I haven't dated regular NPCs in the game, I don't know the limitations on them.  Can you fast travel with Ringo to the Ultra Luxe for a drink?  I know that you did increase the NPC follow for sex.  Don't know about other stuff.  Anyway, date variety is one of the benefits of having a companion.

 

Another thing I thought of was that some people might use one of the "make anyone a companion" mods.  /Random observation

 

Companion and (depending on your answer above) NPC suggestion:  Date night at the Tops.  If you're on the Strip, you could have the option of seeing the show at The Tops.  It's been awhile since I sat through it, so I don't know how that would impact the timing w/ small talk.  Not a request.  Just an idea.

 

Gifts

 

This is one of the suggestions that I've spoken to before.  This is something I've been doing on my own in my limited and always unappreciated capacity.  Sure, you can give them better weapons and armor (which they might not even use *ahem*), but how do you say "I enjoy hanging out with you and appreciate your always getting my back?"  Give them a token of appreciation.  You like dresses, Veronica?  I will give you every motherfucking dress I find so long as I get to keep at least one.  I use FO3's Charon Improved mod.  In it, he'll say that he's starving and asks for a beer in dialogue once.  When he says he's hungry, I dump the best meal into his inventory that I can, and you can bet that he gets every fucking beer.  I confess that I haven't had any brilliant ideas on gifts to give other companions.  "Hi, Arcade!  I got you...another lab coat?"

 

Companion and NPC Request:  You ask for the date, you bring the food/drink.  I've probably mentioned this one before.  Since everyone's struggling to survive, I think the date requester has to prove their worth as a potential partner and that "Oops I forgot my wallet" (i.e., you have no food or drink on you) costs you points and sometimes ruins the date (now I'm definitely sure that I said this before).  I wrote something else about companions and hardcore mode re: food, but I must gather rubber ducks in another thread.

 

Perversion

 

I confess that I'm uncertain what the difference is between fetishes and perversions.  Regardless, don't know how this would be different from regular NPCs unless you can't fast travel to other locations with NPCs.  Of course, it depends on the type of perversion.  I don't know if this mod is going to be bringing any perversions into it or just reference the abilities of other mods.  The only thing that immediately comes to my mind is public shaming.  Walking around the Strip naked could possibly get you assaulted, but you'll probably be saved.  But out in the wastes, you could get shot.  Ow.  Also, I don't know if you're implementing them for both PC and NPC preferences.  My mind recoils as trying to figure out all of that.

 

General Request:  The ability to disable certain types of perversion in MCM.  Again, I don't know how you're planning on implementing perversions.  School girl outfit?  Cool.  Let's go to the SO Bunker.  You want to watch me fuck a dog?  We need to talk.

 

Related but much less imperative and possibly difficult to implement Request:  The ability to disable certain types of idles for hanging out.  I think it's hilarious when Charon decides to help rake the field in Goodsprings or brush up in the Brahmin field at Crimson Caravan.  I imagine that would be immersion breaking for some.  But I've dated smokers, and I'm not a fan.  I don't remember if vanilla Charon smokes (maybe he does?), but he doesn't in Charon Improved unless we're hanging out and there's an idle spot for it (in Crimson Caravan).

 

Pregnancy Integration

 

If you've been around a companion 24/7 (although you could argue against it if you've made the companion wait), paternity shouldn't be too hard to figure out.  Depending on which one of you is knocked up, I would think that they'd urge you to take it easy or ask to stay somewhere safe instead of going out into the wastes during later stages of pregnancy.  Definitely P9.  Maybe P8.  I'd think that if you're a female PC in a committed relationship with an NPC, they'd ask you to consider sticking around instead of putting yourself in danger.

 

Companion and NPC Request:  If you're in a committed relationship with your companion or NPC and they are around you when someone else hits on you, they should acknowledge/respond to that.  My gut reaction is that they should say something like "Back Off" or the angry "Hey!", but I suppose that they could also have a proud "Goddamned right my partner is attractive" response.  This is assuming that you turn the person down.  I don't know how to

More complicated with companions.  "You want me to go back out there with you after you cheated on me and dumped me?  Bitch, I'm going to need at least 3 gallons of perfume just to consider it."  But that's from large transgressions.  Wouldn't make sense for them to hold out on joining you when they randomly get upset with you (are there reasons for them getting mad at you besides your not greeting them after X time or for turning them down for something?). 

 

Companion Suggestion:  If they're really an ex, they shouldn't go back to the Lucky 38.  They should go back to where you hired them, unless they're stalking you/trying to get you back.

 

Companion Suggestion:  If you miss a scheduled date, they return to wherever and refuse to hang out with you for at least a day.

 

Pimps (including companions)

Don't see how this would be different from other NPCs unless you integrated some Sexout Submit option (again, another mod that I don't use and may not have even gotten the name right on) to stop battle by offering up you companion/them offering you up for a peace treaty.  Pimping/soliciting aside and not necessarily a DRL thing, but a cool mechanic could be that your companion offers you up for sex to stop a battle, and it either happens and the battle ends (or maybe not if the enemies don't hold up their end), or it's a bluff where the companion stims back to health and then get in that good headshot before the other person touches you since they're distracted.  Battle resumes.

 

Personality Profiles

 

At the very least, companions give you a little more to work with story-wise than minor characters.  NV's comps definitely have greater personalities than FO3 comps.  Again, I'm uncertain what you're going for here.  Joking personality?  Serious?  Always romantic?  Or are you talking about how it should take Boone 100 disposition to get to sweetheart level?

 



 

Other Requests/Suggestions:

  • Voyeur Sex: I'd like to see an NPC occasionally request that they watch you dance in an outfit (lingerie, or something classified as sexy/slutty/prostitute).  If there's no outfit request, there's no intermediate dialogue.  So if with outfit, Voyeur Sex -> Follow -> Outfit -> Start as opposed to naked being Voyeur Sex -> Follow -> Outfit -> Start.

Do you mean the eat/drink activity should give you food/drink when you initiate it on a date that they made?  I think that's what you mean.  If so, I agree I can fix that.  As for gifts I'm still mulling it over.  The only reason I can see to implement gifts is to 'make up'.  Of course I plan on the 'here wear this, you be the fireman I'll be the maid' type clothing exchanges.  But other than that,  I'm stumped.  Male NPCs giving gifts to the Female PC I can see easy enough.  It's the other way around I have a hard time envisioning.

Fetishes will be special proclivities.  Mainly used as a vehicle to get some of the ZAZ stuff into the relationship bedroom, but other things too.  Perversion is just a generic term I'm using to describe (deja vu much? lol) the breaking down of inhibitions.  The NPC will do this, but doesn't want to do that, sort of thing..  Until they become completely perverted and are into all kinds of kinky shit.  So the two will probably be tied together somehow.

 

I have zero plans for animals.  The furthest this mod might go in that regard is Jacobstown and even that's still a maybe.  I don't add any idles they don't already have.

 

 

 

Pregnancy Integration

I could create a 'couple' look to make more NPCs avoid you, but other than that I don't know how this would work really.  Seems like it would be a lot for a little.  I could just be feeling lazy too.  As for pregnancy I don't even want to think about it yet.  The stuff I have planned would take too long to list.

Yes it's an old joke.  Fringe Benefits.  Nothing super special.  For example: if your mate is a doctor you get healing for free.  Very basic and integrated.  Would only apply to named NPCs of course.

I'm not sure how much I want to step in front of the vanilla game.  My idea so far has been to, all things considered, let them fall back to vanilla minus dialogue options.  Penalties for missing a date are already in.  If your relationship is with a male NPC you might not notice the penalties as much, because he wants to sleep with you. lol

 

 

 

Pimps (including companions)

Don't see how this would be different from other NPCs unless you integrated some Sexout Submit option (again, another mod that I don't use and may not have even gotten the name right on) to stop battle by offering up you companion/them offering you up for a peace treaty.  Pimping/soliciting aside and not necessarily a DRL thing, but a cool mechanic could be that your companion offers you up for sex to stop a battle, and it either happens and the battle ends (or maybe not if the enemies don't hold up their end), or it's a bluff where the companion stims back to health and then get in that good headshot before the other person touches you since they're distracted.  Battle resumes.

 

Pimps, in the context of this mod are basically combination boyfriend/body guard/personal manager.  Their strengths as a Pimp will give you more options as a hooker, keep you safer, resolve conflicts, etc.  Think of them less as slave masters, and more of a boyfriend who is OK with what you do.

This is just another way to say 'how we split up all the dialogues'.  When we begin to write dialogue there will be a standard pool of dialogues, then there will be separate special dialogues that apply to certain groups, factions, individuals, etc.  I don't want to get too much into this because I myself don't know exactly how this will work yet.

 

 

 

Other Requests/Suggestions:

Scenario:  I invite Charon on a date.  He accepts.  Date time.  I say either "Let's have dinner" or "Let's drink."  Inventory menus pop up (I would assume that the actual container would be a non-NPC specific container in the VendorChests cell) where you have to put in either food or a drink.  If you have no food or drink in you inventory, maybe it just bypasses the trade menu and goes straight to him saying "I thought that you invited me to dinner?" or something like that.  Cue  "Hang on a second" option that allows you to go to a nearby vendor/random container in the desert and grab food to try again before the date is over or "Sorry" dialogue (i.e., I'm not even going to try because it's impossible for whatever reason).  You get knocked a point or two on affection for fucking up but recovering it and you get a harsher penalty and no affection/flirt options if you don't retrieve anything.  While they're waiting and you don't have food/drink/whatever in you inventory, you could restrict their DRL dialogue to "So what's going on with dinner?"  It's probably more forgivable at higher commitment levels, but I would think it would leave a really nasty impression during casual dating.

 

 

My attitude on gifts is "just because" as opposed to "needing a reason."  Make ups aside, it's flavor.  However, I could see it being a required thing for make ups.  Don't know how you're planning on doing make ups, but you could prevent a "give the gift for the hell of it option" and restrict it to only the "Baby, I done you wrong, take me back" option.

Companion and NPC Request:  If you're in a committed relationship with your companion or NPC and they are around you when someone else hits on you, they should acknowledge/respond to that.  My gut reaction is that they should say something like "Back Off" or the angry "Hey!", but I suppose that they could also have a proud "Goddamned right my partner is attractive" response.  This is assuming that you turn the person down.  I don't know how to

 

I could create a 'couple' look to make more NPCs avoid you, but other than that I don't know how this would work really.  Seems like it would be a lot for a little.  I could just be feeling lazy too.  As for pregnancy I don't even want to think about it yet.  The stuff I have planned would take too long to list.

 

 

I'm thinking of triggering one of those combat type/detection dialogues, but I don't know how easy that would be to do.  It would probably involve checking for the voice type and then having to put in the specific topic.  I'm thinking of it as a SayTo as opposed to a StartConversation.

 

But you're right.  It probably is a lot of work for a little.  If I feel like looking deeper into it (I imagine I'll have to for something someday), I will.

 

 

 

 

Other Requests/Suggestions:
  • Voyeur Sex: I'd like to see an NPC occasionally request that they watch you dance in an outfit (lingerie, or something classified as sexy/slutty/prostitute).  If there's no outfit request, there's no intermediate dialogue.  So if with outfit, Voyeur Sex -> Follow -> Outfit -> Start as opposed to naked being Voyeur Sex -> Follow -> Outfit -> Start.

 

 

Set your outfit to 'keep on during sex' in clothing eval and it will stay on.

 

 

Yay for learning!  Too busy testing to buy outfits.  Didn't think that it would count it as having sex.  :blush:

So you want eat to work like drink, in that, you have to have something in inventory and it takes it away for the activity?

If you initiate it, it does.  If they ask, then it doesn't.  The reason being that drinks were relatively easy to itemize.  Food looked like a mountain I didn't want to climb.

Keep in mind it's still early.  I'm doing core functions first, then I can expand on them later.  It's more important right now that I get working examples in place, than it is to go into too fine details.  It'll happen though.

I think that there's been more talk than change, so I don't think that you've missed out on actual functionality changes.

 

Correct.  I'm basically fiddling with things while I think about how to do new things.  Right now I'm really struggling with gifts.

 

Gifts for Females:

- Chocolates

- Teddy Bears

- Perfume

 

Gifts for Males:

- Power Tools?

- Caulking?

 

Gifts for Both:

- Pre-War Books

- Magazines?

 

I'm feeling a bit limited in my options.

Here some quick questions for you :
 
I wanted to try the Venus chem. I understand that I need to dress my character as a prostitute to get some. Do you plan to add an option to set a quick key to start dancing or i will need to use a pill everytime that i want my character to dance? Speaking of which, i think the buff you get from the venus drug is a bit too powerful, but thats my 2 cents on that.
 
Also, i talked with Garret to start whoring for him but did not get approached by a customer. however, i get plenty of casual fuck request, drink offer, flirt, food offer etc. I tried to talk directly to NPC for sollicitation but did not have the option. How do you start getting paid as a prostitute? Did i missing something?
