RedHeadAngel Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 This isn't a conspiracy theory—just some advice. Never trust Wikipedia. Anyone can edit articles on there, which is why avoiding the site is advised if you're doing research. An example would be when I looked at the Wikipedia page for the Titanic. It said, Quote The British Board of Trade's regulations required 14 lifeboats for a ship 10,000 tonnes. It's a small detail, but it's still incorrect. The BBT's regulations for the time were that a ship exceeding 10,000 GRT (Gross Registered Tons) was required by law to carry 16 lifeboats, not 14. Titanic actually exceeded this requirement by having 20. So, yeah. Titanic wasn't carrying so few lifeboats because J. Bruce Ismay thought they cluttered the decks (In fact, he had nothing to do with the lifeboats at all). It was because the ship wasn't legally required to. If you look at any ship of that era, almost none of them carried enough lifeboats for all passengers on board. There are a lot of things people believe about the Titanic that are completely ridiculous. 4
Raven 54 Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 The only time I commit to conspiracy theories is when something way retarded happens. Like Lee Harvey Oswald acting alone. Politics is the conspiracy of the unproductive but organized against the productive but unorganized. Accusations like conspiracy theories, words like disinformation and misinformation, these aren't words that are meant to guide you as to how much trust you should place in the story. These are weapons used to destroy opposition and you already know that when it comes to debate, disagreement or even election outcomes. 3

In the Kennedy era hit squads were already standard procedure when it comes to killing people. It is unlikely that individual gunmen were hired by organized groups. Nowadays it is even more unlikely due to the usage of car bombs and drone strikes. But as you say political groups would use all manner of conspiracies and mental gymnastics to make their opponents look bad. As to how Kennedy got killed. Well if we learned anything from the movie Forrest Gump it’s that shit happens. 2

What if the Secret Service have always been the incompetent boobs recent congressional hearings have shown them to be and it was a hung over clown fumbling with an unfamiliar weapon in a high stress situation that killed JFK? It's the only logical reason everything hasn't been declassified and why his brains were on the trunk of the car instead of on Connally. 2
Raven 54 Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 The dead internet theory What does the dead internet theory propose? At a top level, the concept is that bots automatically and rapidly craft things like social media posts that are algorithmically tuned for engagement — effectively farming clicks, comments and likes on platforms like Facebook and TikTok. This is because more interactions and engagement can lead to more advertising revenue. But beneath the surface lies the more insidious notion that the accounts engaging with such content are also bots and AI agents — meaning that all this activity is happening between machines alone, with no human interaction. An even deeper layer to the theory suggests government organizations are even using bots to manipulate human opinions. This created the idea of a "dead internet," with said death supposedly having happened around 2016 or 2017. This whole theorem was given more traction in an article titled "Maybe You Missed It, but the Internet 'Died' Five Years Ago" in The Atlantic. It's difficult to pinpoint how much of the web is populated by machines — with various studies suggesting contradictory information. Research by the cyber security company Imperva found that bots account for around half of all internet traffic. This traffic tends to be from bots used to generate fake advertising revenue; YouTube among other sites has fallen foul of this, with bots wielded to artificially inflate engagement. Another pre-print study published by AWS on 5 June 2024 reported that 57.1% of all sentences on the web are machine-generated translations. As for how many websites were found to be hosting AI-generated content, this stands at 13.1% — according to an ongoing study by Originality.ai. 2
Raven 54 Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 The idea that the U.S. government (or perhaps the entire world government) is run by reptilian humanoids is … out there, to say the least. And yet, people holding this belief have done real damage. For example, a man who detonated a bomb in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, on Christmas Day 2020 had written a friend about his belief that lizard people walked the planet, disguised as humans. Warner killed himself, damaged 41 buildings, and injured three in the bombing. The idea of half-lizard, half-human beings goes way back, with one academic tracing it to a pulp fiction magazine story from 1929. British conspiracy theorist David Icke has been a key spreader of the “reptilian shapeshifters control the world” conspiracy, which sometimes overlaps with New World Order conspiracy theories that suggest that an elite cabal plan to institute authoritarian global government. These conspiracies often overlap with anti-Semitism, assigning this supposed cabal Jewish roots. The reptilian conspiracy theory got a small signal-boost with the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. According to Politifact, Facebook flagged and removed multiple posts after the queen’s death calling the monarch a reptile and linking to strange videos claiming the entire royal family is reptilian. 2
DrunkenCow Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 I'd agree with you that the "lizard people" don't exist, but things like this just scream "How do you do, fellow humans!" 1

'There's not one bit of seasoning on those premade frozen old-meat burgers,' added another. 'Oh and no smoke whatsoever,' noted a third. Raven 54 Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Government mind control Conspiracy: The CIA was testing LSD and other hallucinogenic drugs on Americans in a top-secret experiment on behavior modification. The truth: The program was known as MK-ULTRA, and it was real. The CIA started by using volunteers; the novelist Ken Kesey was one notable subject. But the program heads soon began dosing people without their knowledge; MK-ULTRA left many victims permanently mentally disabled. 1
Raven 54 Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Fake battle, real war Conspiracy: The Gulf of Tonkin incident on August 2, 1964, was faked to provoke American support for the Vietnam War. The truth: By the time news reached American ears, the facts surrounding the North Vietnamese attack on the American Naval ship Maddox were already fuzzy. Declassified intelligence documents have since revealed that the Maddox had provided support for South Vietnamese attacks on a nearby island and that the North Vietnamese were responding in kind, according to the U.S. Naval Institute. The event “opened the floodgates for direct American military involvement in Vietnam.” 1
Raven 54 Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 The Illuminati and the U.S. government Conspiracy: A secret society that rules the world—the Illuminati—and the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) are in cahoots. The truth: We’re here to tell you that a link does, in fact, exist. Of course, that “link” is actually a hyperlink (i.e., an electronic link between two Internet sites). If you type Illuminati backward—Itanimulli—into a web browser, you will land on the NSA website. Click this link if you dare: Itanimulli.com. Rumor has it this elite society includes tons of famous personalities, actors, actresses, and performers.
DrunkenCow Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Psst: MK Ultra didn't end, it became MK Naomi and formed the basis for the interrogation/torture manual still in use today. Then, there is the heart-attack gun shown to the US Congress in 1975 that only leaves a "mosquito bite" as evidence... 1
Darkpig Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Whatever controversies surrounding the word "woke" whether you're for it or against it. Apparently the slang for "woke" came from African-Americans since around the 1930s. From the information I gather one side hates this word and another assumes anyone who isn't woke is an asshole. I just remember it as a past tense of awake as in not asleep not to be mistaken for insomnia which is a different thing. That may be why I like the word "woke" as it isn't a bad word unless we're going back to that insomnia thing. Unfortunately the word has a double meaning or rather it is a metaphor about not sleeping on major societal issues so I guess this was inevitable. I mean people should be educated about major societal issues and I can't help but feel like people directing their hate towards a single word is misguided. Perhaps less effort should be spent whining about a word that means to be aware and more effort should be spent making counter points to the subject at hand e.g. racism, sexism, ageism, etc. Perhaps most of the people complaining about wokism are old folks who don't want to deal with politics because they have enough issues well... being old. I won't argue with that. At the end of the day society is run by carefully constructed data but if there is a peaceful protest outside maybe it is time to double check that data. I personally don't see the big issue with the word "woke" but I'm just trying to make sense of all this. 1

beefers Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 "Woke culture" was a class war started by the CIA in the 1960s used to separate people on gender, religious and sexuality lines so that the growing working/middle class wouldn't direct their ire towards the wealthy elites.

Melissa_69 Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 (edited) I remember watching an episode of Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura about a communications research project or a doomsday weapon that can change the weather, shoot satellites out of orbit- and trigger mind control across the globe? Jesse Ventura and his team head north to a remote region of Alaska to confront the military installation called HAARP. Fact: The High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is a University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) program that studies the ionosphere, the ionized part of Earth's atmosphere that's closest to space. HAARP's research aims to understand how radio waves interact with the ionosphere and how this affects communications, radar, and navigation systems. HAARP's research facility in Gakona, Alaska includes a high-frequency radio transmitter with 180 antenna elements that directs energy into the ionosphere and space. The facility also has diagnostic instruments that collect real-time data on the ionosphere and magnetosphere. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-frequency_Active_Auroral_Research_Program Edited October 23, 2024 by Melissa_69 1
