so you are comparing natural disasters, that have been happening for millions of years, that could happen right now, in this exact second and will happen again in future, with the conscious destruction of nature by humans?

wow

No I am not. I am rebutting your statement that "millions of years everything was fine" by showing examples where things were and are not fine without any human intervention. Nature has killed more nature than humans have. You might also want to consider the fact that humans are part of nature.

Maybe in the cave man days but humans have considered themselves the "apex predator" for some time now. At this point humans are not part of nature, they are nature.

Looked for hours tonight. Nothing I could present that we haven't already read/heard enough about or that wouldn't break rules here- both written and unwritten, lol.

> did we mention about conspiracy that sees politicians as aliens who want to conquer human race like in "X files"?:classic_laugh:

Und Ihr Punkt?

You didn't get it... the word "nature" here doesn't stand for various biomes like "forest" or "ocean" or "flower meadows full of butterflies"

rather

the "cosmos" as such or the "multiverse" (depending on how you look at it)

this is about a way of looking at things like it is used in cosmology or quantum physics

But that also means - that the products of people like "buildings" - "automobiles" - "ships" up to the "Internet" are part of this "nature".

---

So if you use the word "nature" you always have to give a context to it ... because biology uses this term differently than physics

therefore they also have other meanings

Fatalistic thinking will get you nowhere in life. The cosmos? Humans have conquered that too and are now twiddling their thumbs figuring out what to do next. The multiverse on the other hand sounds like a conspiracy theory all on its own. That or a Marvel movie. So unless something crazy happens like Cthulhu sneezing humans will continue to be king of the mountain the shit covered mountain. So there you have it. Until Cthulhu sneezes humans:

Ah, gut. Hat jemand über die satanische Panik der 1980er und 1990er berichtet?

Well - in my home town ("capital" of a district in the north of Thuringia), three young schoolchildren had tortured a fourth to death as part of a satanic ritual in the early 1990s.

Panic? No - but it's something else when you know some of those involved or the families!

yes, of course, the "press" enthusiastically exaggerated it ... but yellow press has existed in today's D-Land since it was founded in 1949

It is not for nothing that the newspaper with the four CAPITAL LETTERS is considered "...the newspaper - which first spoke to the accident victim and can therefore report exclusively..."

(after all, it is still the paper with the highest circulation of a daily newspaper)

Somebody wasn't paying attention to what I said.

No?

You, and several others, have taken the position that humans are wrecking the planet and there is nothing to be done about it because - humans. Is that not a fatalistic Weltanschauung?

I like how if you talk about 9/11 that's fair game, but if you mention how the 2020 election was obviously stolen and voice your opinions on that, in a topic about conspiracy theories, the comment gets yeeted.

Just saying...

The 2020 election is politics. As for "obviously stolen" there is zero credible (or incredible) evidence to support that. The dingbats have been threatening to produce irrefutable proof for three years without actually coming up with anything.

Yeah.. we'll just pretend that Democracy is alive and well and leave it at that. :smirk:

Every political system has its pros and cons.

To paraphrase Churchill: "Democracy is the worst political system except for all the others we have tried". Plato and Aristotle both laid out democracy's inherent problems.
