According to the innkeeper, I should proceed directly to the second stage of the quest and start looking for NPCs to talk to. However, I can't find him. I would like to know where this NPC is?

No problem with the concept of it. It's just I can't think of an order that we can't just go and do.

 

Alternatively, there's a "possession" angle. Another mind in our body, with option to give them control. Think Johnny Silverhand.
What if there's something very valuable that we need that is locked in "impossible" safe, which is located in a mansion, in which bdsm-themed parties are held. We can get in as "a guest", in appropriate outfit, but we can't open the safe (even if we are the master thief, we are not masterthiefly enough). Walker could open it, but she physically can't go there.
That could work, but as a story quest, not a radiant mini-game.

Wonderful, my favourite DD mod got an update. Big thanks. Now, to some bug testing..

 

A Snare To Loosen:
Even with all 3 voice packs, deadric chalice and mask in water are mute.

 

Gordian Blind:
broken control: several times during playthrough, i did something forbidden and collar took control AND released me at the same time, resulting in PC to be stuck. Did some testing on earliest save in my cell (after irkalla leaves) and found out spells, shouts and sneaking are punished properly BUT melee weapons and fists result in permanent loss of control and getting stuck.

         -EDIT: further testing on fresh save - loss of control and stuck wont happen if punch is the first thing i do after leaving cross, instead quest gets "leave alchemy lab" update. Second punch gets me stuck.
Tonal Forks: Since I played this before, I quick saved before touching it in case i lose it. Of course I lost it so i reloaded and found original still missing lol. Added new with console. Not sure how rare these forks are supposed to be, but maybe box with 10+ spare ones under the table could help.
Floating platforms/door: randomly stop working. First time they work, then interaction does nothing, then interaction wont appear at all. But even unusable, NPCs and mind-controled PC uses them with no problem. I have save in front of broken one if some testing is needed.
Animations wars: -Furniture animations get overwriten by vibrations and orgasm animations, returning to furniture after its over (mostly affecting 1st trial and mistress office event). I dont remember doing this in last year version. Idea: last year I didnt have DD NG with open animations replacer patched in it.
Overly aggresive Irkalla: -One time got caught sneaking out from her office in night (by stealing something), resulted in soft lock bad ending on cross. Work as intended i presume. However i could never replicate this event, Rest of times, she simply starts regular combat resulting in PC death. Feels off in story.
        -More so: In first half of story, going to upper living quarter and picking something from mini library with hanging light aggro irkalla from her office resulting once again in combat to death. Something to do with fact everything now is theft and collar taught me prior sneaking is forbidden.
Shy Floating Irkalla: during seance in her office, Irkalla has some "her time" in front of blinded PC but animations is selected randomly and may pick furniture animation, resulting in her floating, ruining the moment xD. Pre-selected animation may yield better results. She also always faces exit, not PC, seems strange.
words of defiance:- upon opening big barrier before basement finale, daedra removes PC gag and orders to speak words of defiance, presumably use shout to remove rest of stuff. however shout or any powers dont work with pet suit still on. Results in strugle session. Not sure if intended.
azura ending: upon running out of basement area, PC falls through air for a bit, then teleports to upper level of living quarters, irkalla appearing shortly after. However, quest wont update and new dialog wont appear until PC goes to lover level
molag ending: boss battle music permanently stucked on loop even after leaving the all quest areas back to the open world.

I encountered an issue while playing this mod: during the first quest "A Snare To Loosen," my game crashed when I used the carpet to remove the blindfold.

Try lovering difficulty in the dd mcm. Or if you'd get dd ng you get minigame that's pretty easy.

The mod is broken due to devious devices ng struggle system not working at all so the first mission and the second mission starts can't be completed as they are supposed to. The only way to work around it is giving yourself lockpicks via console as an alternate method of escaping the contraptions. Please add alternate ways or debug ways to escape the contraptions at the start of the quests please.

 

Also the quest marker for talking to walker is broken and doesnt actually follow her as it was just at her home and she never went there and I had to search all around to find her in another part of the area. This one isnt really gamebreaking though like the other just a little annoying.

I have the same issue - game crashes every time I try to use the carpet to remove the blindfold. Not sure what's up - was there a special animation that played there? Might be that the animation is missing, causing the ctd? Though googling it, it says that error code is caused by mod conflicts, so maybe we both have a mod that's not playing nice with snare?

@Vikesh999@tesenfeu@Zaflis: Seems I forgot to disable the intro quest for The Gordian Bind when doing the quickstart. I'll go fix that, thanks for the report. @Zaflis, the teleporters are copied from the Dragonborn DLC one and frankly, they break quite often for me too. Use the side entrance, fly up with tcl or coc FrayEQ2LivingQuarters as a workaround. I still have no damn clue what actually makes them break, so I'll probably have to re-implement the damn things myself to get something that works reliably.

 

@shadows12-2@ZephyrusVenti@1061899064: Given that there's three reports there's probably something there, but I can't reproduce that issue, so y'all are gonna have to post me some crash logs before I can help you further. Use this: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/59818, and get me the same kind of logs that @Allen Harris just posted.

 

@Allen Harris, does that also happen for contraptions not from this quest? Try spawning some in with the contraption kits DD provides. I see a lot of control/input related stuff in that log, I'm guessing it might have something to do with a change we made recently in DD NG to support controller input for contraptions. I can imagine VR may have some funky interactions with that.

 

@Trickstar41 Even if the DD NG struggle minigame is broken (and if so I'd like to hear how, given that I made it I can probably fix it), the "break device" option still works the same as old DD, so you already have another way out. I'll have a look at Walker's behavior, I did give her some NPC packages for after the quest, but she's supposed be in her hut at that point in The Gordian Bind.

 

@Kat8086 Thanks for the ideas! The mini escape dungeon is something I'll probably make at some point, but since it's similar to content already in this mod it's not my top priority. Plus if I make it, I want to experiment with some randomization for it first. A number of the other things you mention I feel are already covered by other mods, though I might add some of the simpler ones like one-off commands myself as well just to make them a bit more tailored to the player-Irkalla relation. The "hot or cold" and "introduce yourself as a slave" are also great ideas: fairly simple to do, but high impact.

There's some good stuff in there, both idea-wise and mechanically, and some of them provide chances for terrible puns, which is always a big plus in my book. The "fetch quest" and "Hit the Spot at home" should be fairly simply to do, I'll probably give that a try at some point once I work through my todo stack of DD NG stuff and bugfixes. The whole "no touching" thing kind of evolved by accident actually, but now it's become a story opportunity to do something special with it. I just haven't decided yet the what or how the player's relationship with Irkalla can/will evolve.

(Though in practical terms I haven't excluded Irkalla from sexlab scenes and the like, so players can easily boink her if they want to)

Yup - same thing happens even with a kit. It's possible I don't understand how contraptions work anymore - used to, I could activate the furniture and it would ask like "Try picking it" and "Try to break device" and "Struggle". Does it work differently now?

Yes it works different now, You need to choose struggle option, then press w-s-a-d key in order to escape ,order will be different every time, you need to hold the key atleast for 1-2 seconds, you can change the settings in Devious Device MCM.

it doesnt even give me an option. fuck, that means furniture is broke in VR

The struggle minigame is broken for me as in it doesn't show up at all after clicking struggle. I thought it was just invisible and I was just clicking the wrong buttons so I tried everything both on my controller and then with my keyboard yet nothing worked. Breaking the device doesn't work either and always fails for me and I think it is because the contraption (the x cross as an example) is set to this object is impossible to break when you examine it so when you try to break it, it will always fail. All the regular worn devices in the mod work perfectly, it is just contraptions you have to escape from that start a minigame that are a problem. I wish there was a way to just have all contraptions struggle mechanics work like worn devices where there is no minigame at all and just has a set chance or whatever it does with worn devices. That would fix everything.

Probably that change then. I'll see if I can send you a few files later today where I revert the suspected change, see if that fixes it.

 

The contraptions still work mostly the same, actually. The menus are unchanged, but from DD NG 0.4.1 onward the "struggle" option defaults to a minigame that adds a bit more gameplay to the contraption escape than just random chance. The other two escape options (lockpick and breaking) are unchanged. I tested the minigame with both kb&m and controller and it should work, but Skyrim VR probably does something different again here.

Ah wait, I see now. You're on DD NG 0.4.1, yes? After we introduced the minigame in that version we discovered it wouldn't start properly for mod-placed contraptions, which includes this one. We fixed that in DD NG 0.4.2 [rc1] which has been on the DD NG dev discord since early September, but that version hasn't made it to LL yet. In that version we also added an MCM button to choose whether you want the minigame or the old behavior. I believe 0.4.1 -> 0.4.2 is safe to upgrade on existing saves, so if you just hop over here and grab DD NG 0.4.2 [rc2] I believe your problem should fix itself. Apologies for the inconvenience.

 

The break device option not working puzzles me, though. I set that contraption up to have a 90% break chance, it should be practically guaranteed...

Hm. Seems to be something to do with the blindfold object that gets dropped to the floor. Not yet sure what. Could you do something for me? Find a "black leather blindfold" from DD and drop it from your inventory. If that doesn't crash, try this console command: "player.placeatme xx214BA3" where you replace xx by the index of this mod in your load order. It should drop another blindfold at your feet. Let me know if either of those two things cause a crash for youit should help me narrow down the cause.

 

 

@Allen Harris, try this attached file DD NG 0.4.2 VR Contraption Controls Fix TEST.zip, see if you can activate contraptions with it. It's a drop-in replacement, no need for new game or anything fancy. Send me another log if it still crashes.

Hey I had finished the quest a long time ago. I now downloaded new version to access new content. I don't remember where to go or where to find Irkalla. Halp! :)

You get a letter from a courier. Which tells you to visit the bar at Dragon Bridge.

In my save I have already completed the quests. The new content I am trying to access is 
 

NEW content:
- Custom follower content for Irkalla and a devious minigame you can play with her after The Gordian Bind has concluded. Speak to her after completing The Gordian Bind to access. I plan to add more minigames like this, let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for them.

- Irkalla's 11L voice pack has been updated for the new content. If you're upgrading, don't forget to grab the voice pack too.

I'm afraid it does the same thing. Doesn't respond to button presses on my Touch controllers, and crashes when I press "e".CrashLogger.logcrash-2025-10-26-03-38-30.log

Ah, if you've already completed the quests, go into Stony Creek Cave and take the side path where the bandits are. There should be another load door at the end of that. If you can't find it or there's just rocks there, then you may have run into a bug from the older versions where I didn't properly open that path in some instances. Either way, just use "coc FrayEQ2LivingQuarters" then. Irkalla should be around somewhere there or nearby, depending on the time of day.

Damn. Hm, okay. Couple questions then:

  • Did it respond to touch controller button presses before I gave you these files (and crash, presumably)?
  • Did you have the same VR controller setup (including possible control map mods) last time you played when contraptions worked for you?
  • If you go and use an older version of DD NG, say 0.4.0, does it also crash?

* No - So far as I recall, furniture's always required me to use the default Action key on the keyboard ("E") in VR.

* That's a complicated question to answer. I have different controllers now because I upgraded to the Quest 3S from the Quest 2. But *standard* furniture has never responded to Touch controllers. HOWEVER...some non-standard furniture has. For instance, Chain Beasts overrides the default behavior of furniture and those contraptions *do* respond to Touch controller input.

* Dammit, I was afraid you'd ask that lol. I'll take a look and get back with you.

Edit: As to point 3, going back to the earliest downloadable version of NG, it does the same thing.

Done with both Tutorial, In both the case Black leather Blindfold is not ready to Drop to the Floor, instead it Floats in the Air in both the cases, SS Attached for reference.
