I'm just curious. What is JB. modlist and its loading order? 🙂

 

I tried playing again after almost 2 months, but now, I can't even get to the loading screen.

I see the "press a button.." message, and after one second, the game crashes.

I updated my mods, but nothing. So I want to try it with JB.'s modlist, see if that works for me.

Your crash logs suggest an issue with MO2 with usvfs::hook_DeleteFileW being the return address, you might want to try their Discord.  I think the crash specifically is in the Visual C++ runtime but called by uvsfs which is an MO2 component.

 

I know they caution against running games from C:\Program Files (x86) -- where Steam normally installs.  But I have never had an issue, so I presume it is a particular configuration of Windows (maybe multiple accounts, or non-administrative accounts) or a historically older issue in Win 7/Vista, etc.  But I would seek their advice before doing anything drastic.

One issue reported the cause was Anti-Virus (BitDefender).  It is recommended to whitelist MO2 and Game folders, IIRC.  I haven't done that myself but I am just using Windows Defender.

 

There is also another referenced issue which suggests there is a problem with 24H2 (I am still using 23H2 because of all the Ubisoft reported breakage):

EDIT: Here is the article for Buffout 4 crash troubleshooting, there is a sticky there mentioning what needs to be whitelisted for AVs.

I'm using Bitdefender, and 24H2.

I solved the problem by excluding f4se_loader.exe, Fallout4Launcher.exe and Fallout4.exe in Bitdefender's Advanced Threat protection.

Yeah, BitDefender makes sense.  Glad you got it figured out.  I know people are using 24H2, but once I saw the issues I locked the Windows Update target release to 23H2 to just avoid any hassle -- I guess I am going to have to take the upgrade once they stop pushing updates in November for 23H2.

any fix for the bulldog scene, the first part plays out fine after that nothing happens :/ not sure if this is just me but yeah right now im softlocked

Last time you asked about the same thing. I think you have over 500 mods, unless that has changed, this mod is going to have a lot of problems. This has become too big to be treated as an add-on mod, like tattoos o raider pet. It needs a specific load order put together.

Yeap it's Over 1k by now, not everything requires an esp, esl, or master, but it is all working in a delicate ecosystem, if it was something with the load order... what would it be? usually i just place the new mods at the bottom, i mean: if im installing Nuka Ride and it needs to override stuff it should be at the bottom, if anything else stops working then i start making adjustments, trial and error, but, in this case, the NR works fine, until i reach the point where i have to talk to Shane... plus, I haven't found a clear way to skip that talk with the console, something is missing everytime i try, and even so... I'm sure i'll get the same problem in the next chats...

I do enjoy your mod, but i'm not engaging in a new installation tearing down a build of 10 years of moding, i didn't do that for FO London, since they where very clear about that: "Install this and then mod to your hearts content", 'cause i have a lot of lost jewel mods that are no longer available for download so... it's a shame...

That's a vanilla setting. Press pause, go to settings, and then to the sounds option.

 

I usually lower the volume of music by about 40% in Audacity before uploading it to the mod, but sometimes it still sounds loud.

That one's included in the main mod, in the FOMOD. You'll need to download it again.

Hey JB.  You mentioned at some time in the past anecdotally how the Overboss ended up being black, as a result of a bug with the face tints that you did not know how to address at the time. Am I remembering that correctly?

I find myself in the same situation now in my own mod journey and I try to create new NPCs as soon as o try to modify their face tints they end up with a distinct face (not even the whole head just the front part of the face being darker more brownish) and I don't know  tweak the rest of the body to match.  
Can you share what was the specific key insight that led you to a correct management of the skin tint settings?

Dark faces actually only occur if any of the textures used have the wrong compression or resolution. The Creation Engine is limited and can't mix everything. A 4096 diffuse with a 256 normal is unmanageable for the Creation Engine (just as an example). Therefore, it's advisable to only use texture mods if they are complete—for example, replacing not only the diffuse, but also the normal, specular, and subsurface.

Yes, Rusty face fix is installed. Additionally these are just NPC's that I create in the creation kit based on vanilla data.
Not adding any custom textures in whatsoever. 
Maybe the problem is elsewhere then.

Maybe there's some other mod that messes with them, like Diverse Bodies or similar, but they are flagged as unique, so I would expect Diverse Bodies to leave them alone.

Yep. The key is to go to the Actor category [Actors, Actor] and create a new one. Go to the Template tab and choose an actor that's more or less similar to what you're looking for, whether it's the same sex or physical build, and then check the first box ("Use Traits"). This will load the base actor. 

 

Then uncheck it, and you can start modify the actor as you like.

So no duplicate an existing one as that creates the problem.

You should look into MO2's portable instances. It's made it very easy for me to have a dedicated profile for LoversLab mods, and another for regular gameplay. They don't overlap at all.
