Probably I've missed something but I've never understood how 30ish looking Kellog can kidnap Shaun as a infant and some 50-60 years later we meet 30ish looking Kellog and a 50-60 year old Shaun.  I've only played the default Shaun plot line once and I don't recall Kellog being a synth.  Maybe it's Kellog's grandson we meet later on?  Then again, maybe Kellog has been bethesda-ed.

As best I can figure, the explanation is that he's sort of a reverse-synth (cyborg). So much of him has been replaced or enhanced by cybernetics that he's not really visibly aging.

Ah, maybe with this explanation I can settle my mind.  LOL  Thanks.

LOL - betheseda-ed. That's a very good verb/pronoun for how that company handles stories. I've spoken to ppl who worked on FO4 in the early development stage, if you've ever seen the art of Fallout 4 - there's concept art in there that show some of the early story elements like in this storyboard everything is pretty much the same as the opening we know except the protagonist already has their pipboy in a case that they take from the closet. What I was told was that the Protagonist was a "war hero" who now Worked For Vault-Tec and the Vault-tec Rep that comes to the door leads the protagonist to Vault 111 where the game begins with the nuke 38-1317a749e6.jpg

Hi JB

Thanks, i will use the console command..

On the slut walk, perhaps the second time and onwards there could be a more private punishment for the pc in his digs.  Then again perhaps being put in a cage next to the fountain for 24 hours so he can see her pain would work too.   Hope you don't mind, as mentioned I just find it a bit too strong for me, I usually play as the pc not being his bitch.

Hi JB, sorry I amm being a pain here, I went to use the console command Set_NR_OverbossBitch to 0 and got that the script command was not found, screen shot attached.  It matches tha opne you gave me, I tried without the 'to' just in case and it doesn't like it, is there something extra I should be typing.?

Honestly, I think next time be much better to go with the independent and free route for me!

@JB. Hello. As I muse at all the comments in the forum, it looks like no one else has posted this topic, so here I go.

In some of the late stage dialogue with "Father" he asks the protagonist 'what would you do if your husband was here?' The protagonist has several choices but what sparked my curiosity was Father's reaction. Are you aware of the cut quest The Replacement? (I think you are) If not then NVM.

But if you are aware of this cut quest, and the mods that restore it; are you planning on doing your own version in your mod? Does Father send you a synth Nate to punish his whore wife?!?

Asking for a friend.

PS: Having a Blast in Nuka World making Mrs. White do unspeakable things in the name of Golden Globes Studios until Nuka Ride 7 is released.

I knew about that mod but never had any interest in playing it. But yes, implementing that is in my plans because it gives rise to many situations. From the protagonist first thinking he's the real guy - imagine having to justify EVERYTHING she's done to someone she really loved - but the true nature of that Nate should should be revealed soon.

The Overboss will have fun psychologically torturing the husband, even knowing he's a synth. And William will not hesitate to meet Mrs. White's famous husband, to try to convince him to leave her.

But I think the protagonist could not accept a Nate synth.  You can't replace someone you love with a copy. There is a clear attempt at emotional manipulation that the protagonist would not tolerate.

If the protagonist convinced her clone to "walk her own path" she should advise the same with her husband's clone. She will accept him the day he decides to stop acting like someone he is not.

Thank you @JB. for your input on my post. Allow me to share a spoiler for Synthetic Love - btw it's only for a male protagonist since it will introduce synth Nora who is found at the Diamond City Market and at first - doesn't know who they are, not even as a synth. In the the cut quest "The Replacement" after the protagonist takes their place as head of the institute they are presented with an option that results in the creation of a Gen-5 synth version of their dead spouse; which is given the memories of that spouse up until they went into the Cryo-Pod. How did they do this?!? Apparently the Institute finds out about vault 111 roughly 150 years after the bombs, the institute starts hacking vault-tec computers and finds Vault 111; from there they begin monitoring everyone in the cryopods. When they find the "War Hero" and his family - the institute sends their ppl to get genetic samples and are surprised to find a baby. In the vanilla game it is revealed from Institute computers that Institute scientist hacked the Vault-Tec computers including those in Vault 111. And Shaun tells us that he is the one that let his surviving parent out of their cryopod before the entire cryo-system shuts down.

Knowing what I know about the early story concepts I understand why Bethesda scrapped The Replacement quest. However For Nuka Ride - I could see the hints that You were going to do your own version. LOL!

Here's my question to you - is your introduction of the synth Nate going to have some dependencies on how what the Protagonist reveals about themselves? Like if the Protagonist doesn't mention their child or husband to anyone - will there be a different path to Synth-Nate being introduced? Will anyone know that this is your dead husband?

Again, asking for a friend.

Cheers.

Hey JB, i must say, this was an amazing experience... most mods dont stick with me after a playthrough, but this was excellent, especially the voiceovers. it truly feels like a DLC or a different game.

but one comment for this is, unfortunately, if this was played, theres no reason to play the rest of the vanilla game. like, you already know BOS coming in, shaun and youre just a *ahem* stupid bimbo... this is a dedicated save only for roleplaying reasons and theres no reason to go back in the commonwealth, which is a bummer.

and also, the music sometimes are too loud, cant understand the people speaking, i had to mute the music sometimes.

anyway, looking forward for nuka ride 7+

I can't bring myself to play the main quest as a female character anyway, at least the husband is a war veteran so we can assume that he has more training and experience than a bunch of raiders or wannabe soldiers. But an ex lawyer /housewife fighting super mutants and robots...! my brain can't find a plausible explanation for it.
If not for this mod and some others, i would never choose Nora as PC.

It's certainly far fetched, but given Nora is searching for her stolen infant and has seen her husband brutally murdered before her very eyes while powerless to stop it, she may have snapped. Women are capable of being cunning, vicious creatures when the situation requires, especially when it involves protecting their children. Also factor in an occasional episode of hysterical strength and I don't think it takes much more suspension of disbelief than other aspects of the plot.

Have you played Fallout 3? How did your brain come up with a plausible explanation for someone who grew up completely sheltered in a vault before they escaped it at 19 years of age and became the badass that was the lone wanderer? Regardless of gender the lone wanderer neither had training nor exprience.

Any mod that constantly scan for approaches will probably interfere. Also there was if memory serves you needed to complete a certain quest. Think it was the posters quest. I could be wrong been a while

Well ...

Technically he or she had training with a BB gun and a radroach ...

His or her life wasn't completely sheltered either.

In Fallout 4 it is a young female lawyer that relatively soon after leaving the vault is dispatching a couple dozen raiders before hopping into a military power armor, grabbing a minigun and killing one of the normally hardest enemies in the game.

The suspension of disbelief is possible for a war veteran, not so much for a lawyer who gave birth a couple of weeks before.

What I've heard about the original background, and I have no idea how canon it is, is that Nora was a lawyer in the military,  She would have at least gone through basic training and in 2075 of the game's story possibly had power armor training (although that's doubtful).  Maybe, while growing up, she was a hillbilly and could emasculate a fly at 100 feet?  :P

Better not beginning to discuss what is possible in a game full of inconsistency : one example amongst many, explain me how a dog (dogmeat) can follow on many kilometers a very old track in an environnement full of radiations ..... another one, have you ever seen a car left in a field for 10 years, now imagine that car 200 years later, do you think it willl still have its painting (and I am not speaking about the many posters seens in various place)

So was the female lawyer sole survivor able to be a badass ? Response TGCM or Ta Gueule C'est Magique (Shut up it's magic)

After playing FO4 thru with the Institute as my main faction a couple of times before Far Harbor DLC came out, and reading a lot of computer entries in the SRB, Father/Shaun's terminal, I've become convinced that the Protagonist is a Gen5 Synth planted in that vault 111 cryo-pod by Shaun. Which explains why the protagonist (male or female) becomes a "super hero" in the course of the game.

Plus there is some reliance on us, the players, to build our own back story.   Also as for this being canon, the mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16817) states:

"It also bothered me that it seems Bethesda was unsure what they wanted the female Sole Survivor to be (The lookout robot says she is a lawyer, but Nate says she'll "have to dust of [her] law degree," implying she has not been using it for a long time, if at all. Bethesda also has lines of her saying she is an army combat veteran, and she says the first line of the speech at the Fraternal Post). Because of all this I just role played that she was a veteran as well (easy to do since her pre-war job is only mentioned once), and after nine months I found out that her dialogue saying she was a veteran is simply made hidden by a few conditions in the Creation Kit. I removed those conditions. I also made some other slight changes including:

-Removed conditions so female Sole Survivor says her army veteran lines."

The mod referenced above is a must for me for all the reason that @lee3310 says in his post.     In any event, my Nora does go through a 'controlled" hell (via Nuka Ride) and becomes the killer necessary to take on the institute ala the heroines in movies like "Angel", "Naked Fear", "Game of Thrones" as well as historical people like Boudica and.......dare I say........even people like Aria T'Loak!  (long time readers and @JB. are rolling their eyes right now):)    Anyway, we all mod to make the game "fit" with our story that we are playing out, and this reply is more a general reply to those who may like a different perspective.

This is one thing that would be very plausible. Given the current state of the country/world and Nate being in the military, he would have made damn sure Nora was well trained in protecting herself.

Even today, many of us teach out wives/girlfriends how to survive. And trust me, my wife, and a bunch of others I know, can turn into a badass bitch in a split second. And still be afraid of the dark LOL
