This whole blackface issue has started happening to me too. I went from having none for years to getting it regularly over the past three weeks. At first, I began to distrust a bunch of mods. I’ve got Fast Save, Fast Uncompress, Fast Cell, and Faster File Copy. The worst part is that I installed them on a whim; I never even complained about loading times, so I don’t know why I added them in the first place lol. Anyway, none of them turned out to be the culprit. Now I’ve decided to go back to Addictol 1.2, since according to what I’m reading in the comments, it might be related.

Yeah I don't use any of that Asciim0v stuff.  I was using Cell Offset Generator (same guy that did Hydra/PCL), but I really see no benefit with it.  It's more about larger LOs from what I gather.

I know the one thing in the Facegen module that changed in 1.3 was support for disabling facegen using the change/save flags but that was a feature originally there in the unmodified game and the only reason it doesn't work is because X-Cell/Addictol replaced the logic and left that out for some reason.  Oh oddly you have to disable facegen for skin tones to work on NPCs, which is why that functionality was restored.

If you still see it with 1.2, I would disable bArchiveLimits.  That archive limits stuff seems to require a lot of patch points in the game, in fact with 1.5 they found another missing one related to LODs.  My understanding is they replaced the array the game maintains, so it could be some stray edge case routine (i.e. a delayed/background load scenario) they haven't patched yet and it's looking at the original game array that's empty because they patched out the routines that populate the array to point to their replaced array.

My theory is perhaps there is a budget (per frame) on how long the game will wait to load assets, and it probably works on near objects on a priority, maybe line of sight is a factor, but eventually it just has to render the frame.  When you load into the porn studio there is a ton of NPCs in there.  Because what it looks like is maybe textures didn't load (whether it is the skin texture, a tint, or something else is unclear, but blackface feels maybe suspiciously like the texture didn't load).

I have no idea if any of this is true.  But it wouldn't surprise me if the game sets budgets for things like this, because they exist for other things like Papyrus and Tasks.  And there is tons of LOS logic and distance logic around asset loading as well.  I think it's lots of compromises because a large part of the core game runs on a single thread.

I stopped the FOMO thing years ago with mod and mod patch releases  the amount of trouble it's caused me just wasn't worth it most times I would have a stable game going and then punch myself in the face by adding some half baked mod that would fuck my game right through all the saves.

Because for some reason that I'm past caring about MO2's vm won't except mods with a dll  in them I have to stick them my main data directory so then I would have to go and pick it all out it was a pain in the arse

I has a hard time with the new Necro mod which I wanted it to see the reaction of the Ai when I fucked dead people it took me a bit to get it to work so I picked it out a few times before I realised I had a old version of Garden of Eden

The big pain in the asshole with MO2 is they need to publish an update, even if it is 2.5.2.1 (it's rolling up on 2 years, and there are Windows changes that break VFS).  It really feels like it is barely maintained sometimes.  I get it's a thankless job, but really don't see what the hesitation is pushing out a patch release to close out common issues.

In any case, if your on MO2 <= 2.5.2 & Windows 11 24H2 or later, then you may need this patch:

https://github.com/ModOrganizer2/modorganizer/issues/2174#issuecomment-2558511974

It largely shouldn't affect DLLs, that sounds like an antivirus thing.  Some A/V's also have issue with DLL injection & patching.  I just use plain old Defender, and I threw in an exclusion for the Game root & MO2 instance root, Nexus protect me.

I'm still on a stripped down win 10 (no widgets or shit) and up to six months ago I was still on win 7 lol ,I don't use a antivirus at all (even that pos defender is stripped out) I'm shit at codeing but my network skills are very good and I can smell a virus scam a mile away

Here's a blast from the past Dave I still us a old Linux Smoothwall router operating on a 486 8 meg 166 hz as my port blocker and cat 5 physical connections,it's never let me down

This is probably not a Nuka Ride issue, but it pops up when I play the mod. Most of my NPCs ' hair stretches out to infinity. Does anyone have a solution for this? It is not the first time I have run into it, but I would finaly like to fix it instead of just dealing with the hair all over the place. ?

This has been mentioned in posts on here before it's to do with one of the hair packs (kso ?) and the fix is really complex most just don't use that hairstyle

Man this is where this forum really needs more reaction emojis.  👀  What's crazy is Linux is finally removing support for the 486, long overdue.  I can't imagine that thing is up-to-date and secure.  I'd look at a N5105 mini-pc, you can get them with 4x-6x 2.5Gbit ethernet ports, fairly powerful enough to do most things.  I use OPNsense for the job on an N5105.

More recent release of usvfs https://github.com/ModOrganizer2/usvfs/releases/tag/v0.5.7.2

Unlike the other archive Windows relevant files are in "bin" folder.

Was thinking the same as I wrote it but the logs show it's still blocking port sweeps and maybe most hack software doesn't have backward redundancies to even know how to handle cracking this old machine anymore but i hear what your saying it's time I got with this century with my security 😂

Thanks i'll grab that and give it a shot my problem is small and I work around it but it's annoying not being able to just install a mod with a dll in it,even my mcm's have to run outside MO2 or the settings don't stick

Are your Steam, MO2, utilities and Fallout 4 installed outside of Windows protected folders? Like not in Appdata, Program Files ?

Also, when you download files, do you check "properties" for the download

Yeah that's a pretty odd problem.  It's almost like it's not able to write back to the overwrite or mod folder.  Is everything on the same drive?  Pretty much usvfs is a injected DLL into the process, and it hooks some of the kernel-level calls for the filesystem.  But the f4se & game process still needs write permission to a) overwrite b) mod folder c) game root.  It could be a permission thing/elevation thing.  I don't know if your installed in C:\Program Files... for your game, but maybe.  I can tell you it's never been a problem for me on Win 11, but I am sure back with Win 7/Vista it was a bigger problem, there were a lot of nightmares when UAC was introduced and people wishing to go back to Win XP.

Nice, didn't even think they had releases on their usvfs repo, just updated the components.  Going to be bumping to 25H2 probably in October.

Yeah this Unblock stuff is more annoying with Win11.  I don't remember it being a problem with Win10, but apparently it's been there since WinXP, or maybe it's the built-in compressed files that started propagating it into the unarchived files in the last few versions of Windows 11.

Here is a PowerShell snippet to recursively unblock everything in a folder.  Usually you get cannot open/read file errors, if you unzip MO2 and forget to unblock it you usually see something to that effect in the logging pane.

Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\Your\Folder\Path" -File -Recurse | Unblock-File -Verbose

I'm about to go on a rant.......

Spoiler

You should always own a game you paid for outright to play as you wish when you wish without interference from a third party that is nothing more than a parasite like uber eats creating another layer of cost that shouldn't exist imagine how much cheaper games would be if you didn't have to pay steam's staff and CEO

By trade I'm a autobody repairer with a degree in mechanical engineering with a PH in chassis and suspension design I worked when I was younger for a V8 supercar team honing the handling of those beasts and I am now having issues with car manufacturers with the right to repair being taken away from us with subscription software and tools and software not being made available to repairers so you always have to be ripped off by a certified dealer ,in the end you will own nothing and be happy

I get sus about steam, I mean the only two games I play which now have to be gotten exclusively from steam are, Skyrim and Fallout 4, both single player, there is no multiplayer element, so why do I have to log into Steam, if everything is on my pc I have no need for an internet connection to play a game? Yet neither game will start unless you log into (let) Steam (know)?

The world is going crazy with dumb asses making decisions on content that is available online. Something I believe is up to the individual and in the case of those things they call children the dumbasses who made them should be responsible for them. I just hope the plague does not reach as far as the brighter more accepting, mature and enlightened gaming community. We understand the difference between what is real and what is not, plus we just wanna be left alone to public scrutiny of our vices, afteral they may be vices in a fantasy but that is the point it is a fantasy.

My workaround is to buy the game through steam (after all the developers deserve to be paid) I never d/l it and go to one of "those" sites and get the game with all the steam shit removed

The only online game I still play is Quake 3 death matching there's still plenty of servers out there

Lol, you just made it very easy for me, thank you. I haven't seen a hair pack yet that I MUST have. Certainly not one I'm willing to jump through a bunch of hoops for.
