jagged0 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Anime is for children, manga is for adults. Spoken like someone who has never watched anime in their life and is just here to troll. There is anime out there that is NOT in any way, shape, or form safe for children to be watching. Spoken by someone who has never went to japan in their life, btw actually animes are considered cartoons in Japan just another term for animation, Japanese children watch anime all the time like kids in america would watch Adventure time, and let me tell you this Asian kids are much more mature so they can handle that kind of stuff better, plus anime=animation=cartoons, as to why I said anime is for kids is because there is much more censorship in it for most gore filled series compared to the Manga version for example tokyo ghoul.
DorkDiva Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I am pretty picky with what I watch, be it scifi, horror, anime...everything. But far as Anime is, I like classics such as Vampire hunter D, the original NInja scroll, Akira, Berserk, the original series, and the golden age arcs 1-3. Frankly, if it is good I will watch it, if not nope. Same for Manga, I like the berserk series obviously, Vampire hunter D, Akira, Dorohedoro, Vinland saga, I liked Gantz too for a time. Forgot about Claymore, the manga and the anime is good too, pretty interesting.

Sorry but there is a difference between being more mature and being forced to act more mature then you are in order to fit in and not be alienated by society which is exactly how it is in Japan.

Written completely out of ignorance, if that's the case then I guest all 80s-90s children are sexist, and racist pigs due to watching so many cartoons with material not suited to their age, yet they turned out fine huh? You really should stop forcing down mericas views onto other countries that's what got it in the shitty mess it's in now. I'd say japan is doing an amazing job raising their kids since asian countries don't have their children tweaking and listening to shitty rap, or one direction music, if anything their kids are smart with amazing grades becoming engineers or business owners.

And once again, you're overgeneralizing. You can't simply judge an entire country with a few demographics. Of course many think they can, but their views are usually skewed by bias and propaganda. This is also supposed to be a fun thread about anime, not politics. There is no place for the latter here. I'm not the one who started the debate when she/he bought up the topic of japan's children that's when I had to put fourth my opinion generalizing like she generalized japanese kids in general.
Kendo 2 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 @ All of you people not talking about anime SHUT THE FUCK UP. Now then, does any one know if Overlord is going to get a season two?

Fantastic job? jesus christ the japanese life is the most depressing life I can imagine for someone. Same story for korea. They are literally working 90% of the time. Why do you think golden week is such a huge deal? they barely have days off, they expect you to arrive early to work which 9 am and leave at around well past 8pm at least. They work 6 days a week (holy fuck) and inflation/over population and expensive real estate makes this country a fucking hellhole to live in unless you are already making millions of $ (not yen). Yea, I will visit japan one day but never live there. @Kendo, sorry for the rant, and for overlord the fight with Shaltear kind of confused the shit out of me, since when can a summoned mob beat the person that created them? gameplay wise this makes no sense hence why that battle made no sense to me.
mkprovince Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 @Kendo, sorry for the rant, and for overlord the fight with Shaltear kind of confused the shit out of me, since when can a summoned mob beat the person that created them? gameplay wise this makes no sense hence why that battle made no sense to me. You misunderstood something right there. The Guardians are created as vanguard boss teams for taking on the invading players during raids. You should think of Ains as a player character than a creator for that fight. This is what happens if Ains is a player who's trying to invade the great tomb of Nazarick as Shalltear Bloodfallen is actually the first boss that any player would have to face in a game raid. Even Sebas Tian can floor Ains if it's a mere physical oriented combat. The problem Ains faces then is that the Guardians and other NPCs are literally given sentience in the new world though their thought patterns are still quite limited if not exposed to extra informations and Shalltear is actually built as a multi role combat unit whose very ace in the hole is PVP with combat orientation against undead; something that Ains' character is built as. Gameplay wise it makes perfect sense because World Class items can cause a character (implied even a player character) to turn sides if they don't have the counteract items (other World Class items) equipped. You just didn't grasp how Ygdrassil functions when it is still a game. These are slowly explained through the chapters in the LN as Ains compared the functions of certain items or spells when they activate in the new world and when they are activated in game situation.

You really do seem to ignore the part of most japanese citizens having high paying jobs don't you? As for you saying japan is a depressing place I laugh at that comment, since when I was in japan as a foreigner most of them helped me find what I needed even though I knew little Japanese, now I'm not saying that it's utopia or anything like that due to their culture they have to behave in a certain manner but I prefer it over the loud mouth americans that I have met in my life with their fake smiles and half-assed attempts at friendship. None the less you can list all the reasons you don't wish to live in japan all you want, but I could also list the thousand of reasons that I wouldn't live in America either due to it's shitty leaders and giant debt none the less the only reason I haven't left this place yet is because of the work I've spent into my job.
thingwhatsqueaks Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Unless you are tragically allergic to anything resembling a school anime you've made a mistake if you haven't been watching Gakkou Gurashi this past season.

Guest Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 1) I dont live in america genius. 2) i named economic as well as social reasons why living in japan is a bad idea and you tell me about your visit there to refute it. Mind fucking blown. Nevermind discussing this with you is just stupid.
Kpnut Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Started watching Girls Und Panzer (finally) or as I like to call it Tanks and Lesbians, not got far enough to give any judgement on it yet though.

In general the entire series has been a pleasant surprise (or at least as pleasant as a show like this can be). Not going to lie. The end of ep. 11 had me really worried that Yuki was about to go "super-saiyan" on some zombies, save everyone and they all live happily ever after because I've known shows that where solid up to this point only for them to completely shit the bed at the end. Very glad it didn't go that way.

mkprovince Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Goddamnit. I need a new series to watch. Have you watched Star Driver? That's a pretty good anime to keep you occupied until October comes with the new series in tow. Edit: Just read the final chapter of Sidonia.... I never would have guessed that the second placenta sample of Hoshijiro would actually come in handy at the very last moment. I guess Tanikaze bagged two girls in one go.
thingwhatsqueaks Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Goddamnit. I need a new series to watch. Is that because Gangsta ended with a cop-out cocktease of a cliffhanger?

mkprovince Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Finally finished Overlord. The last few frames after Momon stepped out of the guild is pure gold. It shows plainly just who are the bad guys (and we are cheering them on!)
