your welcome. i also dont think the moderators will call it spam if you update your mod with bug fixes days after updating

I have a calendar on my thread and I upload new sims to my own thread. At these dates, I upload new files to the loverslab for everyone and leave it like that until the next date comes. I upload a new file every 3 - 5 days and I've quited my old "1 bump a day" habit for a while now. I hope uploading a real new file doesn't count as spam. (My mother tongue is not English -which takes a while or some effort to understand some things.)

My advice would be to upload your new content every week or two all at once and move all the patreon early access info over to your support thread away from the download page. Then you do not need to "update" with all your paywall info, how does that sound?

I'm actually one of the very few people who is using the support page effectively to give info about updates. I don't change a single thing on my download thread. But when I upload a new file to the download section (to my existing download page), I update the info which is in the spoiler. If I don't edit the info as I upload a new file, the download page info would be misleading.

I'm already uploading to loverslab 2 times a week (3 at max) and other than that, I don't make any single changes to my download page. If I upload 1 new file to loverslab, I update 1 info. But I will consider drop it to 1 or keep it at 2, which is end/start of the week.

I even reported a mod which contains (or contained - I removed and no longer use it) a loader for malware. It was not removed.

If you are interested in details and want to check it yourself PM me. You'll likely have this mod installed.

Details would be nice to check to see if i have downloaded it

Just had a look at your download page, I would make it a lot simpler and not have so much info that becomes outdated. I would move all that to your support thread.

Saying that I cannot tell you how to do things, that's totally up to you. If anyone or the Moderators have a problem then you will probably get a little push in the right direction ;)

Not saying "I'm better than the rest" but that's what I can do best. Not spam/fake updating, uploading actual new files, providing as much info as I can, effectively using support thread and all- As I upload something new twice a week, I remove outdated info and keep them updated and this way, I don't give misleading info.

Other than all, thank you for clear and effective communication. I appreciate it! :)

If minor updates to the page description didn't register as "updates" then you would probably be ok but they do and you need to think of a solution that's good for you.

In all honesty I don't think we will ever agree on all the paywall stuff, my first post on this topic gives my thoughts on that but thank you too for keeping our chat sensible and pleasant ?

But that's the issue, minor updates do get bumped the same way as if they were major updates (which is exactly what allowed the system to be exploited and the bump spam issue to start) and consequently bump the files they are in on the download list, for the moment you can't avoid that, if you update the forum post the download post will remain with outdated information so you have to edit that anyway.

So guys, maybe it's time to close the thread? Downloads have been splitted, everything seems to be ok, I can't understand what you discuss here.

Simple, then if it was me I would change the format of my download page, after all you don't really need any links on the download page do you ??? All that info can be put on your support page and your fans can follow that, how does that sound?

I'd say give a few more days, still seems to be discussion on what is going on. Hasn't quite gotten overly heated, a few tense remarks here and there but nothing hostile just yet. Some people are still unsure what means to be a excessive or spam post, plus theres some still sorta violating the rule by deleting their post and slowly re-uploading them, however looks like CPU already posted about it and they are being watched.

Why would I stop announcing my content on Youtube to announce it on PBS? That's simply wouldn't work. Our downloads come mostly from offsite (mostly google), not Lover's Lab regular forum users, support pages are barely followed and seen when compared to Download pages because download pages are undoubtebly where everyone goes to see new content more than everywhelse. Again, we're talking about people's incomes and that's the most sucessfull way to announce those. If the forum had an option to make small edits that are not bumped it would be way preferable over updating files on pages that doesn't have nearly the views of download files. I'll say it again, there's better solutions to this than sacrificing people's livelyhood because you're mildly irritated over a forum feature that is being exploited by a few people.

There's people that add content every week, and they need to announce it here where they release content for free, for example, thus giving the need for it to be updated.

This is why we should analyse the issue first from the following standpoint:

Should weekly updates be considered spam the same way as people who bump spam their content every other hour?

A big apology then I cannot help you sorry, I've given you a solution I think would work, you have told me it wouldn't work because it's all about your income, I've stated before this is not your shop window its a nice community forum to share creations. What can I say apart from now I think the "update" system is great and works a treat, you will probably need to come up with your own solution ?

Not mildly irritated, believe you me ?

Simple, it depend on the update. if it is a minor update (like you change something the message, info about your patreon...), it is a spam. If it is new content. it is not.

@Idiche Volfe I don't think anyone would think once a week updates would be spam. I was even going to suggest that once a week would be the limit in extreme measures, but there's no need for that. especially now.

With files, you have the option to "upload a new version" or "edit details", the latter is the one that shouldn't count as an update, and that sentiment has been echoed many many times in this thread. As I understand, that's not easy to implement.

Yeah that's what I'm saying, "edit details" shouldn't count as update and shouldn't bump files, that would make things easier. Regarding weekly edits, it has been implied by the mods on the other post talking about this that weekly edits will be seen as spam, which I think it's going a bit too far on jumping the shark. Again, people bump their files (or used to) every 20 minutes sometimes, it's unfair to consider weekly edits to be spam.

If it's not new content I think it should be classed as spam.

And I disagree, that constricts creators from make the smallest of updates, even if one doesn't act on ill-intent when doing the updates then they should be punished? If we're talking about punishing people for something we should clarify what exactly would be considered spam and what isn't so people don't get insta banned from the platform for editing a comma once.

Then you can use the support forum attached to your download post, after all the system was only intended to post files ... people abused it, now its been sorted ... everyone is happy yes? Its only constricted the very few creators who abused the system.. Karma

The first part regarding the support forum was responded, the second part is that it kinda affected everyone lol, we're not talking about the spammers if we're going to consider weekly edits spam then it afects everyone, including the majority that is not involved on the spamming
