Sacrificial Spriggan - Redux

This is a reimagination of the original Sacrificial Spriggan mod made by Stobor. With written permission to do so.

The main focus is upgrading to mod to be fully compatible with DD5 and up. I also plan to add new quests and extend current available quests. Idea's and comments for new content are welcome.

Note due to the partial remake of the intro quest ZAZ is no longer required for this mod.

 

The mod is currently in beta so please keep a clean save and expect problems. Report any bugs in the support thread please.

 

This Mod:

 

Sacrificial Spriggan is a quest mod inspired by the Flowering Spriggan quest from Sanguine's Debauchery, but implemented entirely from scratch. Due to the fact that the key dependency is a female-only armor, this is written for female characters exclusively (though gender checks are not enforced).

 

The Quest:

 

The quest starts some time after completing the quest to rescue Dibella's Sybil from the Forsworn, in the quest The Heart of Dibella. The character gets knocked on the head, and awakens back in Broken Tower faced with a hagraven who is irritated at having her plans spoiled. The hag curses the player character with a gradual transformation, then turns her loose to serve as a living warning to the Forsworn's foes.

 

Intro Quest Summary:

  • The intro scene is triggered by sleeping after completing The Heart of Dibella quest. Sleeping in a jail will not trigger it. Wearing a Devious Devices Yoke, (Body) Suit and Collar wil also prevent it from starting.
  • The intro scene in Broken Tower involves a drugged rape, and the character is turned loose with no gear except some restraints. So the first task is to get free, and perhaps regain at least some equipment.
  • The quest for a cure, or at least a temporary halt to the transformation, leads to Whiterun and the Temple of Kynareth. The quest to repair the Gildergreen provides most of what you need.
  • At some point, you will probably want to return to Broken Tower and get revenge (and recover lost gear). But be warned - unlike the original resident of the tower, these opponents are not easy to surprise.

 

 

 

Guardian Quest Summary:

  • If you have pruned back Spriggan rootlets at least three times, and visit Eldergleam Sanctuary again (with at least some Spriggan showing), you will meet a pilgrim who can point you towards a possible permanent cure.
  • The quest leads to Froki, and Kyne's Sacred Trials; you must complete at least the first three trials before Froki will tell you where to find the Guardian Spriggan.
  • You must cleanse yourself of all visible Spriggan taint, and bathe in the waters of Eldergleam Sanctuary to ensure that it doesn't regrow, before contending with the Guardian. If you don't make these preparations, the Guardian Spriggan will not appear.
  • Defeating the Guardian Spriggan will remove all traces of the infestation, permanently.

 

 

 

Amulet Quest Summary:

After completing the transformation at least once, speak to Danica in the temple in Whiterun. She will have a dialogue option like "What is troubling you?".

Magical Effects:

 

The magical effects of the Spriggan transformation grow over time, as more of the body is covered. It starts with the torso, then the feet, then the hands, and finally the face. Some effects are permanent, even if the visible part of the Spriggan is removed. Growth is triggered by your spell-casting, as the Spriggan absorbs some of your magic - the more spells you use, the faster the transformation proceeds. When a growth phase starts, you'll need to have sex to complete the process.

  • +20-100 magicka
  • +20-100 stamina
  • 5-25% weakness to fire
  • 5-25% stealth bonus outdoors
  • +15 unarmed damage from claws (when those grow)
  • Hunters and Vigilants will be hostile while any of the Spriggan rootlets are visible
  • Random NPC comments (and other events)


When the Spriggan growth is complete, the following additional effects:

  • +25% alteration spell duration
  • Spriggan Call of the Wild lesser power
  • Spriggans and predators are friendly
  • Face mask acts as a living gag, preventing most speech


The gag effect does not interfere in Kynareth's holy places (the Temple in Whiterun, Eldergleam Sanctuary, High Hrothgar), and can be worked around using writing materials (ink, quill, roll of paper). However, there is a -50% barter penalty in written interactions - Spriggan claws do not make for good penmanship.

 

 

Controlling the Transformation:

There are several methods for affecting the course of the transformation:

  • Spriggan rootlets can be shaved off, with Nettlebane and a briar heart. This ability shows as a lesser power in the menus.
  • Bathing in the waters of Eldergleam Sanctuary will prevent further transformation for 3 days. This requires swimming, not just wading, but there are a few spots where the water is deep enough.
  • Once the transformation has been completed at least once, you will gain the ability to deliberately force it along (if you shaved some of the rootlets off, and want to regrow at a time and place that's convenient).

  • Caliente  - Nocturnal meshes (added a transparency layer to the NIF)

 

Requirements:

  • Fully patched Skyrim with all DLC and latest SKSE
  • Latest Sexlab LE
  • Latest Sexlab Aroused (Redux recommended)
  • Latest Devious Devices - Including Expansion and Contraptions
  • Fuz Ro Do'h (soft requirement but kinda mandatory for dialogue driven mods of course)

 

Known Conflicts/bugs:

  • The Flowering Spriggan quest from SD+ for obvious reasons
  • Devious Devices in conflicting slots. The mod tries to check for these but it's not 100% and will break progression
  • Mobs attack scene at the start of the Harvest quest is a bit flaky. Way around this is to select them in the console and type 'disable'

Well it's officially part of DD5 from 5.0 onwards so it's a bit extra but I'll add it to the requirements tab :)

Ahh my mistake then effectively, I don't fiddle *too much* with DD beyond having it around for some mods that need it to run at all. (Guess I might need to update.. again)

Also been awhile since I've tried this mod out, but the introduction seems much longer/better then when I last checked it out, this version also seems to actually work for me when the 'spriggan lust aura' kicks in. Was def fun to mess around with for abit.

ok so how different is the tf in this from the one from SD+ anyways? 

 

obviously the way you go about removing it is entirely different, "also damn why did you have to make this now i got to boot up a new skyrim run again lol"

I played until the transformation got up to the foot roots, at which point I started getting messages about conflicting spots. The only thing I was wearing was the Spriggan parts, so there might be an issue there. Could be some error on my end though.

Not without messing things up, you can set the growth chance to 100% with the console ('set Spriggan_GrowthChance to 100'), cast a spell and then initiate a SL scene with another actor (solo doesn't work)

The idea is the same but this mod has more "parts" and more advanced DD integration. And in the future will have more quests. I left mab's hideout in the gamefile so you can check it out as a sneak peek.

It should just be the default Hagraven model. If you spawn a random Hagraven from the console in your game do you have the same issue?

It checks for keywords on worn devices and if a DD device is found there if it's a quest device or not. Make sure you didn't break devices with the console. You could try loading a save before the mod and then use the DD debug option to try and clean the devices. But will check the logic to see if there is anything wrong with it.

What stage where you in? You can also check the papyrus logs and search for "SSprigans" it should say somewhere what devices conflicted. Same goes for @HereBeTentacles if you can check what stage it was I can check the code.

 

 

@kaseidornmosgobi I tink I misinterpreted your question. if you want to regularly advance the transformation just cast more spells and it will also aid if you stand in the rain during an script update (happens automatically every few ingame hours)

Not exactly sure how to check the stage, was I supposed to have gotten another quest after I escaped the redoubt? I just remember having had the outfit, chastity roots, and feet equipped and then I got an error. Papyrus log had a similar error message to @ahboojiga123 except mine was conflicting with boots.

I wasn't wearing anything other than the roots, inventory was completely empty and no broken DD items or anything like that (as far as I can tell).

On being captured and locked in the cell I have a problem with the Hagraven. She is just standing frozen across the room and never moves.  I am wondering if I am missing an animations set or something. (FNIS was run after instal). I may have removed a mod which in turn removed the Hgraven animations from the game. Any ideas on a fix...

Is there a way of manually triggering it?  Had a bug where the game thought I was bound and finished the dibella quest already.  It's fixed now but won't trigger.

Not really, you could try to spawn in a regular Hagraven with the console and see if the issue persists there as well. Some issues will need a new game to fix, so give that a try.

You can try to start the quest from the console (check the ID for "Spriggan_IntroQuest") and sleep in a bed that is not located in a jail.

I had the same problem than @ahboojiga123 and @HereBeTentacles and your patch did fix it.

 

However I realized that when my character is sprinting, it displays the yoke sprinting animation rather than the regular one. That happened before applying the fix, but also after applying it. So I guess that might be the reason why the mod wouldn't allow the growth of the hand roots in the first place : somehow it thought that there was a hand device equipped, but same as the other I had nothing in my inventory at all except for your devices.

Maybe one of the them is wrongly tagged somewhere ?

This patch allowed me to progress the transformation properly, although it still shows the conflict message in the top left despite it working properly. I'm now having an issue with the gag dialogue though, it doesn't seem to detect and shut off if I'm in a holy place, and even with the scrawl power all npc's just respond with "Yes?"

fixed it for me.

now error message appears on top left  when something tries to equip, even though it still equip despite the error message

isnt bodyslide supposed to be under calientetools folder?

well, i was able to build the armour in bodyslide no problem so i dont know if this would make any difference.

 

then i found out your bodyslide output setting was to
