when I place my 2-hand sword on my back, it's scales like I was a Adult (it looks very big) and a bit away from my back (like it's flying a bit) is there a mod to fix that ?

Posted

The mod itself is good, but I have a few issues with it.

It simply isn't just a children replacer mod, it also edits other npcs in the game. This is a bit of an issue for me because I already have a mod that I created myself that modifies them already, and none of them happen to be children. Basically it fucks with the facegen data of the edited characters and gives them the grey face bug, along with other issues that arise from the conflict.

I do believe that it was xvisionchildren.esp that edits the npc children (someone please verify this, I might play with it all active, but I don't know which one does what), but I do think that by placing this mod higher (meaning before) your mod, your mod should overwrite what xvision does. If not, deactivate the xvisionchildren.esp, that will revert all npc children to their default races, but will leave the player character, if it is a Sky Child, alone.

Oh wait, you were talking about the other NPC's (the adults)? Damn, I can't remember what someone said to do in that situation... It might still be xvision, I just don't know...

Yeah, the mod also seems to replace the adult female textures, which is a "no no" in most scenarios. At least, it appears to based on the viewing of the folder structure.

Well, some of the other NPCs do look in need of editing.  I'm getting the weird feeling, based on her voice, that Fura Bloodmouth in Castle Volkihar was originally meant to be a lolivamp, but they made her an adult at the last minute without time to redo her voice when they realized that you have to clear out the castle if you're playing the Dawnguard route.

I can't disagree with that, because it looks like Bethesda created their characters then repeatedly smashed them in the face with a sledge-hammer. I just wasn't expecting this mod to edit them, that's all.

there is an optional thingie that comes with the mod called "Female Children NPC Original Cloth" that lets the npc girls wear their 'normal' clothes instead of the new ones that come with this mod.

but.. maybe you mean somethin else. i dunno! like maybe you want to make the npc children wear whatever you want, rather than go back to their original clothes.

I have a question regarding permissions for the mod. I want to release a standalone follower that uses this mods assets. Do I have to contact Jiitek directly, or do they allow this? (They haven't been on in over a month :< )

I have plans of making a quest mod that has a couple of child npcs, and would really appreciate it if I could get permission to use parts of this awesome mod.

Hello :) don't laugh, I'm newer to PC gaming (I'm a converted diehard consoler)...anyway, I have everything working great, found the Osare vendor at coc qasmoke, but I can't find any of the armors in this DL in the game. They're downloaded and installed through the Nexus Mod Manager, but they're nowhere to be found. What am I missing? Is there a store/merchant in a particular town that sells the outfits exclusively? I scoured both the old 128 page thread and this new one and haven't seen this question. Any help would be awesome! Thanks so much!!

And big thanks for the great MOD...I played the game to death on PS3, then heard that this makes the game a little more interesting :) I'm amazed that this level of modification is possible...you all make it look so easy ;)

There is a mod on the Nexus called NPC Clothes Changer and Maintainer, that allows you to start dialogue with NPC where you can give them clothes and armor to wear. It works with CotS. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11662/?tab=2&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D11662&pUp=1

That mod is unsupported as of last year and is not compatible with the new DLCS such as Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn. If you install this and run it you WILL get save corruption and have a virtually unplayable game. The list of mod conflicts is probably longer than a phonebook.

My facegen data is all screwed up and my nords are getting tiny heads during creation, anyone know what to get rid of so that I can fix this?

CoTS R2 isn't designed to be used while playing any other race. Disable YChildren of the Sky.esp to stop most of the issues while not playing CoTS.

Easiest fix for the facegen is to install something better over the top of CoTS. ECE is probably the most straight forward.

You can try removing bits from \data\meshes\actors\character\character assets instead as those are overwriting vanilla resources and would impact all races.

CoTS is also tampering in \data\meshes\actors\character\facegendata.

I've also posted some updated bits in the thread if you go back a few pages. It's not perfect, and requires Dawnguard, but does fix some of this stuff.

First off make sure to unzip the Children_of_the_Sky_-_Gear.7z, and add those individual .rar(s) to NMM. (otherwise NMM will install them in the wrong place).

I couldn't find them in coc qasmoke (I just used it for the first time to look for the gear). What I do is type in console: help 'name of armor' [e.g. help cute (for cute knight armor retouch)]. Then take note of the 8-digit code and type: player.additem 8-digits # (#=amount).

Hopefully this works, I can't tell for sure since my character is a boy and most if not all the gear is for girls.

Tricky one this, anyone think it's possible to have the npc kids from R1 and the playable char from R2 in the same game?

Since R2 made some face changes some of the npcs look a bit off. For example, Adara (the redguard silversmith's daughter) is by default turned into a little white girl with really high contrast facial dirt splodges. Some of them look okay (or even better than before) but many look very similar to one another. I know this is mentioned as one of the updates in R3 but we don't know when that'll appear (and if R3 gets posted just after I get everything set up perfectly I won't care because R3!!!).

The best I've managed is to download xvisionchildren (the non COTS version from bagserk.blogspot.co.uk) with all of its data tree and paste it over the top of R2, overwriting whenever. All the kids seem to look either a bit wooden or angry though, maybe that's just the light; but I'd still prefer the R1 version.

What have you all done? Not noticed it / don't care?

The NPC faces using COTS are all dark, while the bodies are standard skin tone. I am unsure of how to fix this. I have tried Resurrecting, Recycling the Actor, but nothing works.

Can't wait for a reply, thank you for the mod =^_^=

Hi,

Is there a way to NOT change the other children into Children of the Sky and let them Vanilla children ?

I want to put my lil 2 daggers on hip using "Dual Sheath Redux" mod with "XP32 Maximum Skeleton" mod (from nexus). I had to replace the Children of the Sky skeleton with XP32 ones, but now I have a problem of height on all children. I can handle my height each time I log in (player.setscale and showracemenu), but I cant do it for each children I meet :s

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

You may not have the same problem as me but go into your data folder and find actors\character\Character Assets\hair and copy ones that aren't in a custom mod folder (like apachii and what not) into a backup folder (just move it back if this doesn't work) to test if any hair that replaces default ones are doing it. I think Cots comes with some? correct me if I'm wrong. ^^;

I don't know the "correct" way of doing this but you can do it by unchecking the xivisionchildren esp and removing the childrenclothing folders from your data folder.

You can also just use the original xvisionchildren mod to overwrite the npc part like the poster further up.

Try this: Open the mod in the CK and find the actors, sort by the "Child" class and then you can set the scale of each child in the CK (Traits tab, Height is the field, 1.0 is the default scale). I suggest you do this to the last mod you have in your load order that modifies the children.

I'm having some issues with this and SKSE, clean install, installed children of the sky, ran it, was working great, installed SKSE, now it crashes after bethesda logo, if I deactivate Children of the Sky the game works

Suggestions to fix this ? I had it working on SKSE before I decided to do a clean install, so I have no idea what's causing this

FIXED: When manually merging the data folders not all files followed over.
