I'm sorry if this question has already been asked a second time by someone else, but, I already found it asked by someone in the locked thread, and the answer didn't help me, at all.

I can't get showracemenu to work without crashing me unless I use the Race Menu mod.  When I use that, I have no problems-- even with Children of the Sky.

If I use Race Menu with Children of the Sky, however, I find that I've begun hovering twelve feet in the air when I'm in first person perspective, with all NPC's looking up at me.  It's obviously an immersion-breaker.

In the locked CotS thread, someone mentions this issue, and is referred to an answer that's supposed to be located near the end of the "loli thread."  Unfortunately, I have no freaking clue what the "loli" mod is (or the "loli thread" is, if it's a thread devoted to a genre, rather than a specific mod).  Simply paging through the downloads section page-by-page didn't turn up anything I recognized to be it.

Oddly, paging through the downloads section didn't seem to turn up this thread, either-- so, so much for my effectiveness with that search method.

Anyway, could someone please tell me what the secret is to fixing the problem with the Race Menu mod shooting me up onto invisible stilts whenever I try to fire my bow in first-person?  Perhaps, I could use it as a cheat for firing over obstacles... nahhh.  I added the file to lower my perspective, despite the reach penalties, just so that I could increase immersion.

Anyway, thanks for reading this....

Golgo, i don't know anything about your issue with Race Menu (though i don't remember any issues with CotS when i've used it) but you may try to use ShowRaceMenu Precache Killer ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33526/? ) for your problem with showracemenu crashing. Unless you already do, then i don't know how to help you at all.

I have 3 questions.  First of all, is this compatible with vampirism and lycanthropy (vanilla/with Dawnguard only, no subrace mods)?  Secondly, is this a completely separate race?  If so, what is it called?  If it is a "young" version of vanilla races, such as a young Breton or young Dark Elf, do the NPCs still recognize as that race?

I've been trying out this mod for a while and to answer the questions.

1) Have not tested it as of yet, but from what I understand it should be compatible now.

2) Yes it is a fully separate race, it would be listed as Sky Children.

3) I haven't had a NPC point out my race in dialogue yet.

When you say compatible, does one need any separate race compatibility mods, if so what?  Oh, if it is a completely different race, then it is understandable that NPCs would not recognize it.  Oh, well, so long as NPCs still have their other recognition dialogue, such as for quests and guilds.  I doubt there is a beast version, but are there human and elf versions, differentiated basically by the ears?

Sky Children is one race, with no different sub-races. Lycanthropy will work, but will use the vanilla werewolf body (the full-grown version, as there is no "cub"). Vampirism should change the race over to the oraezeracex117vampire unless you have the race compatibility mod that add the YgNord race (I have it and when I became a vampire I became a YgNord Vampire). The race compatibility mod is required for starting as a Sky Child without the console command showracemenu to change it later (I have also found a bug whereby the race compatibility mod I use doesn't add compatibility for the DB quest "To Kill an Empire" where the Cook says stuff, you say you're the Gourmet and then she says something based on your race.

player.setscale 1.5

Do that in the console before starting the ShowRaceMenu and you'll be tall enough to be seen, revert back to scale 1 after you're done.

Actually, Race Menu was finding me just fine.  The problem was that having the mod installed, at all, raises first person perspective up to frost giant height unless the mod is uninstalled, which then cancels out any aesthetic advantages of the mod.  It does allow for persistent changing of hair style and features, but it does not allow for application of coloration, since that is all reset to "blank" when the mod is uninstalled.

Hi.. Someone know how to make this mod wrye bash friendly.. I fall in love with wrye bash but just start to learn it, still not sure how to make the greyed out files to work.

It's been more than a month since Jiitek was last online, anyone know what's going on?

Hope he's okay  :(

Not sure why you guys would have first person camera set so high, but you can try reading through this thread to find my modified skeleton and ESP that should fix that.

Still no sign of jiitek. :(

Am I the only one who get a Virus when I try to download the file ?

Not a virus but damn close. You have to turn OFF the option to use their downloader software (add-ware invasion software is a better term for what it really does) to get the file.

Just to be sure that I clear this up:

Everything is perfectly fine for me in first-person if I do not have the Race Menu mod installed.  Unfortunately, if I try to use "showracemenu" without that mod loaded, my game freezes up with an hair mod installed.

I do not have my first-person camera set to a strange height unless that mod is loaded-- and, if someone knows about fixing first-person cameras, perhaps that's the solution for which I've been looking.  Perhaps, when running the Race Menu mod, the first-person camera simply needs to be adjusted, somehow, without affecting the ordinary height.  If that's possible, I have no idea how to do it; but, the solution might be just that simple.  Could anyone tell me how to do that, and what the proper setting would be?

@lulumomo:  I'm as paranoid as can be about malware and viruses, and  I have no indication of ever getting either from these files.  I d/l them a while ago, but, it wasn't that long ago.

*Yeah-- what he said.  I didn't count that, since I presumed that everyone encountered extra pop-ups often enough to know not to allow extra executables onto their computers.

Done ! and it works well, thank you for your advice  :shy:

First person camera height is set in the skeleton, scaled off of a node. The skeleton in CoTS R2 is broken in some way that the game doesn't like and refuses to scale 1st person camera properly. I imagine your Race Menu mod is trying to modify that to make it scale and instead making it worse.

As mentioned by someone else, use the cache killer for showracemenu. Works great.

If the Race Menu you're talking about is this one I use that w/o problems with the updated skeleton and ESP posted by myself and en_hawk. With the original skeleton I get scaling problems during creation and a fixed first person camera (it doesn't scale with player scale/height).

Here's the pre-cache killer I mentioned.

Just to make sure, Dawnguard vampirism does work with the newest version of this, correct?  Which race compatibility mod were you talking about to make this mod work?  Also, which vanilla/Dawnguard/Dragonborn armors have had compatible versions made of them, rather than completely original armors?

Yes, that's the Race Menu mod to which I referred.  Where can I obtain your updated skeleton?

You can get just the skeleton and ESPs here. This does nothing to address the issues CoTS causes with vanilla player races (such as limited/weird selections for hair or eyes).

If you're feeling braver I've gone a step further here and cleaned out some of the unnecessary records causing some of the oddities when trying to play other races, and allows more eye choices for CoTS (though you may have to change eye shape if the eyes appear in the wrong place).

BOTH of these REQUIRE Dawnguard and 1.9+. I'd also say the updated Race Compatibility is probably required too.

Please make a backup of your save game first, just in case.

Also bear in mind that I'm using the same Race Menu you are and I do not get the camera behavior you're seeing, so there's likely another mod conflict involved. The updated skeleton and ESPs may help that or may not. Let me know.

I'll give it a try.  I won't need to get fancy-- I'm never skilled enough for that.  In fact, I haven't even managed to master altering individual files within .BSA archives.  Someone in the Nexus forum has been trying to help me with that; but, I'm somehow still screwing up that simple task.  I'm awaiting a further reply.  If I cease playing a CotS toon, I'll just start playing the game ordinarily.  So far, however, this toon is interesting enough-- the outfits are cute.

It's weird that I'd be getting a mod conflict, however-- all that I've installed has been environmental mods, plus the UNP body replacer.

*Sure enough, that fixed the problem.  Thanks.  :)

I'm sorry if this has been answered before but I couldn't find it anywhere. I got this mod with the intention of playing a teenager rather than a small child, so I used the scaling in the expanded creation mod to set her to about 1.6 I think. She ends up at about shoulder height with Astrid. The problem is, my first and third person crosshairs are so much higher because  of the scaling. Is there any way to fix this?

I also was having issues with the first person camera jumping up way too high when entering/exiting buildings and did the search here to find the updated skeleton and raceCompatibility (vanilla + UFO) but when I applied the skeleton I get CTDs unless I disable CoTS :(

I'm used to installing mods or fixes and navigating the data folders, but I'm stumped as for what I should do. Any input would be appreciated.

Nurbz the skeleton by itself (no ESPs) should work without Dawnguard but the scaling will be wrong (you'll be adult sized), you'll have to setscale in the console below 1.0 which will actually change a lot of other things like run speed, jump height, even melee damage. It's not the best, but it should address the camera heights.

To do this, get one of the 7z I've linked (doesn't matter which since you only want one file) and open it or extract it NOT in your data folder.

Find the skeleton_female_x117.nif file and place it in your \data\meshes\actors\character\Oriental\x117 folder (it should ask to overwrite).

If you've already extracted the ESPs, you'll need to get xvisionchildren.esp and YChildren of the Sky.esp from the CoTS R2 download and put them in your \data directory to overwrite my update ones (removing the Dawnguard requirement). Let me know if you don't have them, I can put just those up rather than having to download the huge archive again.

Then in-game open the console with the ` key and type player.setscale .85 and see how you look. You can change it to be bigger or smaller as you wish, and the camera should scale with your change.

Also of note, changing the skeleton without the ESPs will make all NPC children huge (some > adult size heh). You can fix that manually by opening the console, selecting them and typing setscale .8 or whatever value you like.

The ESPs I've posted address these issues but also require Dawnguard. It wasn't intentional, but I'm using the updated Race Compat which has Dawnguard as a master and thus so do my ESPs. Missing master = crash to desktop.

See the last few posts about the updated skeleton and ESPs. I don't know what mod you're talking about that required 1.6 scale but yikes haha. That would break so many other things in the game.

The skeleton will work without the ESPs but you'll see some weird scaling on NPC children (and yourself) that will likely require you to setscale in console.

Gah, I didn't double-check my esps and found that one of the CoTS was overwritten with one needing dawnguard. copying over the skeleton again seems to have done the trick and did the scale-thingy

I thought I needed the race compatibility update but I guess not with it uninstalled.

So thanks for the info :D
