ekzrated Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I'm having an unusual set of problems. Firstly, all the NPC children look very strange. The females have adult heads, and tall, lanky bodies, while the males have COTS heads, but adult bodies, which looks very weird. Also, when I try to use Ultimate Follower Overhaul, I don't get any of the options in-game. Otherwise, great mod.

Especially mods that alter/add races or NPCs. xvisionc is what controls the NPCs, and it's using the default child races. I'm going to guess that some other mod you're running is putting the child races back to default. Move xvisionc down in your load order, try all the way at the bottom first just to see if suddenly everything is fixed. Since UFO is also breaking it seems a fairly safe bet you've got a conflict with that as well. Does it not give options for anyone or only with children NPCs? I abandoned UFO myself, it's not updated enough and there's a lot of data in there that doesn't need to be and creates conflicts.

As for the UFO, it works with some of my characters, but not for others, so I'm not sure what the deal is there. Anyway, I'm off to bed. Thanks again!
summerwolf Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 @JerWA and hawk: Recently I've downloaded your updated skeleton and .esp that was posted in this thread and I've noticed something really wacky, not sure if this has been brought up before. It would appear that your patch causes Sky Children NPCs to grow huge while using idle markers such as bar counters, rest walls, lean railings etc.. It's pretty hilarious as I can actually see them grow up when they start using the marker and shrink back down when they leave it. xD I suppose this may have something to do with improved killmove compatibility that someone reported a few pages ago also using your patch. Perhaps the game normalizes the racial scale value for the purpose of special animations - while implementing the scale via the skeleton manages to "fool" the engine. So I guess it might be the price we have to pay for better all-around compatibility.

So I guess it might be the price we have to pay for better all-around compatibility. Children NPCs are scaled wrong already, they reference the skeleton (now scaled up) but not the ESP (which scales them back down). I don't know why you only see it during idles, I see it all the time lol, or did until I edited the xvisionc ESP as well. I'll see about getting an updated pack out tomorrow to tweak scaling a tiny bit more and fix all the NPC issues it's causing. Edit: CoTS - R2 - Skeleton v003 Be aware this relies on the updated Race Compatibility which includes Dawnguard. Do not use this ESP unless you have Dawnguard!
summerwolf Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 @JerWA: Well, I wasn't talking about the xvision children, but about NPCs I made myself using the Sky Children race. EDIT: Also your new YChildren .esp seems to have Dawnguard as a master for some reason
HoukaKyouryuu Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Whats the race code for the COTS race when using setplayerrace.**** kind of thing? i cant remember the exact code for the change as well xD.I had a minor bug and now i need to set my boy as a vampire! but i don't know the code. So if someone could toss me it that would be awesome. Additionally i was unable to take the soul of the first dragon you kill. i changed my race and all from COTS using race menu but. even replaying that quest as something else. I couldn't take the soul. So I took one of my old characters and plan to use him as hes past that part. and make him a COTS. it said to make new but so far running around with it I have had 0 issues! Colson_15 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Hello, have to say, love the mod, however. I have noticed on my redguard character that her nose and face has changed considerably.... I am not sure how this will affect other default races. Is there someway we will be able to implement R3 so it doesn't effect default races?? It simply adds new hair, eyebrows, etc...?

Well, like I said, some default, vanilla facial features were screwed up, like nose and mouth i think, and i dont think any of my mods affect that area... just make-up and eye mods I use.. along with that, I noticed on my high elf character that her eyes are bugged out of her head and in a strange position....
Sorith Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 @ HoukaKyouryuuThat looks pretty cool! I like the hair. It also looked as if he had engineer goggles on his forehead for a moment (like in torchlight II), that would be even cooler haha.

Yes, it overwrites some vanilla resources, which means it applies to all races. You can't really remove what CoTS has added because it would make CoTS unplayable (probably crash, not sure). You can, however, overwrite with other mods. One easy one would be RaceMenu and ECE, which includes many custom facegen parts to improve over all appearance. The problem with eyes for instance is a known issue and there's no official fix. If you play as CoTS you must have the ESP enabled but that will make all other races somewhat broken. If you disable YChildren of the Sky.esp (and only that one) all of the NPC children will stay as the new ones and you will be able to play other races. You can go back and forth by enabling and disabling that ESP. It sounds like this is fixed in R3, and has been unofficially "patched" by someone earlier in this thread, but you'd need to know modding to use the information.

Guys I already posted a fix for the Cots eyes issue. If you download TE5edit or TES5Edit (which is on the nexus) manually install it since it's not a mod it's an editing tool you can easily make an esp from that and copy over all Skyrim info regarding the missing eyes and other parts and paste them into an empty ESP that you can name (COTSEyesfix ) or whatever you want. If you want step by step instructions let me know it's a simple process.
JerWA Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 To someone that doesn't know modding nothing is simple in TES5Edit lol. I'd fix this and post it myself but I'd have to break my game to avoiding adding Dawnguard as a master and I'm not that interested.
HoukaKyouryuu Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 @ HoukaKyouryuu That looks pretty cool! I like the hair. It also looked as if he had engineer goggles on his forehead for a moment (like in torchlight II), that would be even cooler haha. heh, I tossed the atherial crown on him because hes a converted of my old character (I saved two files. Kinda cheap but with the current issue with dragon souls i cant make new ones and activate dragons xD) I didn't wanna put some big headgear on him cause it would hide his hair. So i was debating over a crown or a circled like what I have. but goggles might be pretty cute @u@ i might look into a mod for those.

I'd fix this and post it myself but I'd have to break my game to avoiding adding Dawnguard as a master and I'm not that interested. Hell I could just make a quick fix ESP but how would I upload it? It's really simple if anyone needs instructions I will give out a quick lay out in this message and see if anyone needs clarification. Step 1: Download/Install/Open TES5Edit.Exe (get it from the nexus ) Step 2: Make sure you have Skyrim and COTS selected. (you only need the Esp from COTS and Skyrim up but if you feel saver you can have the update and any other dlc's you have just not really needed when checking off the files) Step 3: Apply Filter for Cleaning after it all loads and wait for the files to filter. Step 4: Look for the clashes of files in the head parts in the skyrim section Ex: Head Part ( MaleHairNord 005) for the ones colored . Step 5: Click "override file into" or "Copy files into override " (same button just forgot what it's worded exactly) and then put it into a new ESP or New File as it will prompt you to name the new file which becomes the new ESP. Step 6: Name the new esp then keep copying the files that you need into it and done. (however some files don't need to be copied over due to it just allowing the hairs that were NPC only to become useable.
bunnybunnah Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 i'm pretty sure that if you only use the first word of the clear skies shout, it uses the vanilla male sound (when you're playing as female sky child I also think that the ice breath shout uses the adult voice (not sure)
hds Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Hey, i've got a question. The slightly bigger head that CotS race have is an effect of skeleton, right? Head size isn't influenced by femalehead.nif, is it?(then what is that file for?) That's the conclusion i came to after messing around for a while with skeletons that were posted here. Basically i just replaced a different custom race skeleton with the ones created by JerWA and En hawk and i've easily noticed an increased size of head of that race. Does that mean i can replace a skeleton of any race (as long as it use a custom skeleton), and get a proportions of CotS like character? Or is there anything that will prevent me from doing that? I'm mostly worried about body mesh. To get a character looking like CotS i will obviously have to replace body mesh as well, but is it going to fit the head? In my test i've replaced body mesh with that of CotS and yet everything still fitted to each other perfectly. However in my test i've used Ashen Race (since this is the only other race with custom skeleton that i found) and since CotS was based on that race i'm worried that everything fitted so perfectly only because those two races are related to each other so closly... Any idea if that's going to work with other races as well? Also, i'd be grateful If someone could point me toward another race with custom skeleton so i could test it a little bit more.

Yes, the head scaling is handled solely by the skeleton. The included femalehead.nif has a slightly modified face and is used to help give the race its desired look, the neck area is unchanged and will work with any body.
Qckrk132 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 This is plain out virus for me atleast, my two virus programs blocked like freaking 6-10 or something (malware) aswell. isnt it possible to make a safe download.. like a data folder/winrar instead of a Setup. (Nvm i'm new to this i had the accelerator hooked on so it created some adware or malware shiet sry :3
Qckrk132 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I think someone may have hacked your files. When I tried to download the R2 version I got some weird exe file with "Installer for SoftSafe" under your filename. What do you mean under my filename? did you download the softsafe aswell? i removed all the viruses with essentials and AVG so it shouldnt be a problem.
