This was solved in the 6.1 patch, the trick is to teleport Ivy to you as soon as you end up in the Institute.

Yes, a newly arised known issue. Working on a fix for the coming release.

I always dismiss Ivy for the institunialized quest .. when I finished I go for her and never got any problem

Just finished the Nuka World quest, excellent mod! Very trippy. Easily the best companion mod I've played.

So, here's my experience playing through Ivy's quests with Sim Settlements 2. Ivy causes the game to hang randomly in large or heavily scripted combats, so just figure out what these are and dismiss her beforehand. (She has to be out of the battle area entirely, not just dismissed as a companion). As a rule, the fights added by Sim Settlements 2 itself are bigger than the ones in the Vanilla game. So are many of the ones in the America Rising 2 mod. (In fact, I wonder if America Rising 2 is compatible with Ivy, even without SS2).

Also, Sim Settlements 2 causes a lot of script load right after you fast travel, because fast travel passes hours of time and that causes SS2 to check if plots are being built/upgraded. Wait 1-2 minutes after fast traveling before getting into a big fight.

Also, Mercy's journal entry one is supposed to be in the GNN building, but SS2 massively edits this to make it into HQ. I didn't find a journal entry there. I simply added it to my inventory using the in-game explorer mod.

So I just started a new playthrough (didn't do anything to the Ivy mod between playthroughs) and the Ivy quest isn't popping up at the start of the game, and if I go talk to her she just asks for the voucher, and if I go to the suitcase the voucher doesn't spawn.

The mod worked perfectly fine in my last playthrough, and like I said I just started a new game, so it's not much of a pain to just start again, but I was hoping someone had a fix just in case it happens again, and maybe to let someone know in case its something the author can patch.

i have sporadically run into this issue and the thing that works for me every time is to start the game without Ivy activated (i do have her installed just not yet activated).

what i do is leave Vault 111, claim Sanctuary (just open the workshop and exit building mode). walk to between the Minuteman Statue and Red Rocket.

go back into Vault 111, make a hard save, exit to desktop and activate Ivy.  enter game and walk back to same spot near Red Rocket.  within a minute or 2 of passing

the Minuteman Statue the Recruit Ivy quest kicks without fail (for me) and Ivy works just fine.

i think it has to do with the game changes from Pre-war Sanctuary to Post-war Sanctuary. not sure as i am not a programmer.

Ty, I'll try that if it doesn't work this time.

IN GENERAL for all modded games I highly advice to play the game 100% unmodded before exiting the vault. Basically play the entire intro, exit the vault, then save the game manually as a clean start for new playthroughs. Exit the game, enable all your mods, then load that save and it 99.9% always works great. There's a lot of weird engine stuff going on in pre-war sanctuary and during the intro that often breaks startup scripts and quests.

Personally, I've had pretty good experience with mods for an "alternative start"... after character creation, the player is usually "dropped" some distance from Sanctuary... it seems that I've avoided the problems mentioned above (with the pre-war settlement).

By entering the vault and finding Nate/Nora's body, the main quest chain is also started correctly... acquiring Ivy was never a problem.

In combats, Ivy mostly cowers down and even runs away. She hardly ever attacks with her weapon.

But she uses the hyper attack when it is off cooldown.

Is this an intentional behavior because I did something wrong?

Or did I somehow break the mod?

Does anyone know, how I can make her a useful combatant?

I also have the issue where tuning into the radio doesn't do anything for me.

No seems to be a bug. are you playing in survival difficulty by chance? Then it's a vanilla companion bug. I once lost a whole save cause of it.

You have a mod that alters sanctuary or radios significantly. You can ignore the radio and head straight to her cellar underneath the large tower.

I play on normal.

Your answer sounds like I have to go back to a save when it was okay?

Yeah that's usually the best option. But I never heard of that bug happening in anything other than survival mode. It's something in the way that fleeing is hardcoded into characters when enemies are extremely overleveled.

Into the Deep was probably one of the best Fallout quests I've ever played.. Just dropping by to show some appreciation. But I gotta ask, how did you get the child's voice to swear like a crusty old sailor like that?😂

Flowerpuffin is real girl. And she also does a few of Thuggy's mod. Swearing is not new to her.

Also, we did actually alter some lines because of that reason. (e.g. the C word, etc..)

Heyo! So, I've seen others ask this, but I'm running into into the same problem with no solution. I have run into a problem where Ivy speaks some main lines vocally, but now speaks most lines in text where I have to set for a long while to even get through them. I used to fix this by loading several minutes to even hours before and getting it undone as I never know what causes it. Unfortunately, I now have too many saves ahead to load back. I'm on survival and am around 200 hours in when this just caught me where I would have to load 40 hours back to fix it. So now I wonder what to do? I saw where someone said some mods can cause this by re-assigning the voice to an NPC or some such which is common? I do hear her speak in a generic npc voice when I go back to recruit her for one line  as I tried resting 3 days in a cell away from her as well as downing her and reviving her. Any ideas at all? I tried reinstalling her mods and a few other settlement effecting mods, but to no avail. I'm at a loss and wanted her to finish my first run of the game. :(

I don't think I can help you. It is indeed as you say, one of your mods basically stole her AI and overwrote parts of it, witness the 'default' voice. Most likely they misbehaved in a quest, force reserving Ivy into their quest, overriding her voicetype.

Your 'quest' will be to find which one of your mods is overriding her and to disable that. But chances are this is now baked into your save, unless you can somehow gracefully stop that quest/mod which is overriding Ivy.

Good luck!

So... just responding incase someone else has the problem. I figured out it was the mod called AAF Autonomy! It basically makes NPCs sexually active in the world. When I deleted it, it solved her voice coming back instantly. I reinstalled it (I think it updated anyways), and all seems great now! Thank you for both answering and the work on the mod! Best mod in all of fallout thus far... good enough I didn't want to beat the game without it! haha :)

There's some myths about AFFINITY that need to be dispelled:

- PA usage has 0 effect on Ivy's affinity. She explains on multiple occasions why she hates them and there's multiple lore items/notes/holotapes explaining more about the background of why she hates Power Armor.

- ANY in game quest action has 0 effect on Ivy's affinity. You can murder, loot, join the BOS, not join the BOS, become railroad, institute, minuteman. She doesn't care. There are some caveats when it comes to the BOS but those all come back to how you treat Ivy. (See below).

The only things that raise affinity are:

- Talking often to Ivy

- Sleeping in the same bed as her (it is implied there's cuddling and deep romantic talks)

- Taking Ivy to see nice places (places that Ivy likes)

The only things that lower affinity are:

- Being rude to Ivy

- Flat-out refusing her quests.

I feel kind of silly, but it *is* from four years ago, and while I'd bet that this is still the case, I want to make sure: this is still the case with 6.1? I can't imagine changing something this seeming integral much later, but do want to double check (mostly 'cause the vibes I'd gotten both from Power Armor and the offer to join the BOS made me go "ehhhh... I don't think I wanna do this" because I really, really enjoy her storyline, quests, and characters. Even if it took me a hot minute to do Into the Deep because I'm special and didn't see the bloody holotapes before meeting everything fucking redacted)

Cheers, and thanks for a very interesting character and story, the work is phenomenal :D

Hi, coming from the youtube channel. I've been having issues recruiting Ivy, first is the suitcase was missing the NX-2C voucher, though I managed to fix that by adding the voucher back in through FO4edit. However even with the voucher in my inventory, Ivy doesn't detect it and keeps asking me to look for it. I tried the 4 dialog options and none of them activate anything. I even tried dropping it in front of her and picking it up again to no effect. I'm not familiar with scripts and quest triggers so I'm not sure what to look for in Edit. I hope someone can give some advice on what might be wrong because this mod looks too good to pass up on.

Hallo, komme vom YouTube-Kanal.

You've managed a classic "You don't know what you're doing - but now it's broken".

If the voucher isn't in the suitcase - then something's wrong... getting it using a "cheat" doesn't make it any better.

The simplest possibility why it's not in the suitcase -> the player hasn't even been given the task (from Ivy!) to get this "voucher" - but he found the suitcase by chance.

If you take the voucher out of the suitcase when the process is correct - the starting quest is moved one step further -> Ivy can now accept the voucher - since it actually "didn't exist" for her before.

The more you work with "cheats" or even "setstage" commands in such a complex mod - the more will break.

What should you do now?

Load an old save - so that your game is BEFORE you pick up the "voucher" from the suitcase.

You now have to go to Ivy in the basement and get the order for the "voucher" from her.

If you can't get this order... then you have a problem installing this mod.

I use Ivy as a companion in my blog story - some chapters are dedicated specifically to her - including the acquisition

Make sure the ESM for Ivy and the loose ESP's are active too. Keep the ESM where it is, but try moving the ESP's in your load order.

Make sure no mods touch or break Sanctuary, if so, make them load after Ivy is loaded in the loadorder.

For more info, see:

Thanks, I do have them all activated. But the ESP's were all the way below the load order while the ESM was at the top like other ESM's. I'll move them closer and see what happens. I've reinstalled the mods several times before hand even testing ESP's individually still to no avail. I'll check back once I do more testing.
