i got everything right?

One last thing. When i add the ESL thingy, in case that i break something or do something wrong and notice later, i can fix it by just reinstalling the mod, right? since it resets every files and stuff.

Ā

Ā

For the best results only flag ESPs that simply state Can be turned into ESL by adding the ESL flag and nothing else.

If it's an ESL or and ESM don't flag it. If it asks for compacting the FormIDs don't flag it.

That way there's close to nothing you can do wrong.

Note that if you end up flagging an ESP where you have to compact the FormIDs for that first xEdit will not let you save that and inform you you have to compact it first.

So you can't screw that up.

Ā

If you end up running into problems with an ESL flagged ESP (tho I have no idea or personal experience what or how) you can revert it by simply removing the flag the same way you added it in the first place.

Ā

The main candidates for flagging in my experience are:

1. Patches. Some user-made compatibility patches are so old or just got converted from SLE to SSE that ESP-FE wasn't a thing yet. RS Children Bruma patch comes to my mind. I always have to flag that sucker.

2. Gear. Weapons and outfits that are not big packs of multiple items (= too many records/FormIDs). Among my gear mods I have maybe 1 mod I can't flag for every 10 ESL-flagged.

3. NPCs. Follower and NPC replacer. Again depending on how big they are.

Ā

Personally I also flagged Racemenu even though several guides state not to do so. Never encountered any trouble however I rarely do anything more than load my character preset.

I just load my entire modlist in xEdit and run the script. I then flag every ESP where I don't have to compact FormIDs without even thinking what I'm flagging there.

Never encountered any problems.

Ā

If you're unsure or too nervous: Tick the box in xEdit when you're saving to make backups of your ESP.

That way you can flag everything, play and test and restore everything at once.

Hey guys, would anyone by any chance know what exactly is going on with these mannequins?Ā

Ā

Ā

mannequins.png.78194b0681a10335334c4bc6fd21eb34.png

Ā

I think it's some kind of texture issue .

Ā

Edit: Never mind, seems to be all good now after reinstalling the Mannequins Revamped mod. Don't think I checked the correct boxes the first time I installed it.

There is no esp for high poly, so you should be able to lock it on the left, is it possible you locked the rest to a certain load order number and thats where it has an open slot? (disregard the extra mods i have since it's a hybrid of the new and an older mod list)

Topic on this thread: MO2 forcibly reorders theĀ Alpine Forest of Whiterun Valley ESP in pluggin pane.

Ā

There is an ESP for High Poly Project;Ā  HPP - Vaermina's Torpor.esp.Ā  Or at least there's one now, since you last downloaded.

Ā

I double checked the locks on all loaded mods in the pluggin pane.Ā  There are none.Ā

I even reinstalled the "Alpine Forest of Whiterun Valley", but it just reorders itself above the High Poly Project ESP.

I tried sending it to the bottom; it instead loaded above Alternate Start.Ā  Then I tried to drag it up, but it just reorders itself after I drop it.

I tried sending it to the top; it did indeed load at the top of the list.Ā  Then I tried to drag it down, but it just reorders itself after I drop it.

Ā

I have never seen MO2 behave this way in two years of using it.

Ā

Because Alpine forest is flagged as ESM, evn though it's an ESP. That makes it behave like an ESM loading before every ESP.

Ā

Ā

ETA:

Check this screenshot from Aylis right before his modlist. Alpine forest is very high up. In fact the first 3 mods are technically no ESMs but ESM-flagged ESPs. And in general there are about as much ESM-flagged ESPs as there are ESMs.

Ā

That's what he meant by writing "manually move the ESM to the top (while keeping the order in which they were installed)". ESM in that case is either a "real" ESM or an ESM-flagged ESP/ESL.

Everything working as intended.

@Numa_CwayĀ Ā Thanks for enlightening me.Ā  I was being to literal with the ESM extension.Ā  I'll have to pay more attention to SSEEdit and bold text plugins. I've always used LOOT with rules previously.

Asking for a friend who only plays LE ā˜ŗļø

High Poly HeadĀ It makes the heads smoother and not as many angles. Even the Argonians look way better, add in 3bba for the body and you get a cartoon realistic face and body closer to what final fantasy did with the spirits within movie (20 years ago)

AH! Of course. Well, in that case LE isn't an excuse for not knowing.

Thanks for the quick explanation ?

I've loaded and tested (ENB and LOD not activated) mods.Ā  Below are some notes I'm unsure about:

Ā

Installed SKSE version 2.00.20

Ā

I have the ENB binaries installed and Skyrim looks most gloomy.Ā  Should I go ahead and finish installing Rudy ENB before finishing the guide to that point?

Ā

For the Rudy ENB Night Sky mod listingĀ  I created an empty mod and named it according to the list.

I installed Rudy ENB with night sky and extracted the two night sky texturesĀ  and inserted into the newly created mod with the following structure:
Ā Ā  Ā Textures [a folder]
Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  Ā Sky [a folder]
Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  Ā skyrimgalaxy.dds
Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  Ā skystars.dds

RemovedĀ Rudy ENB to be reinstalled later minus the night sky option.

Ā

Better Dynamic Snow; I did not install Majestic Mountains patch
Ā Ā  Ā Installer notes: This is a replacement for the main plugin. It has conflicting records between BDS and Majestic Mountains removed. Therefore, users will receive Majestic Mountains' shader for these objects rather than BDS's.

Ā

Remember Lockpick Angle current download is V3.0
Ā Requires SKSE! Supports either Skyrim SE v1.6.318 OR any version which is supported by Address Library for SKSE Plugins.
Ā I downloaded V2.0 01 Mar 2020

Ā

Marked Treasure SSE
Ā Ā  Ā Reported bug: DynDolod 3 throws an error

I wanted this but did not install because of the reported bug.

Ā

Added to mod load my 1st deviation from the guide:

More Informative ConsoleĀ
Ā Ā  Ā added to my load order. helps trouble shooting see screenshot below.

did you install reshade as well? Most problems i have had recently have been from reshade making things dark, couple years ago i had an issue with real flying wings and the red glow they had being picked up by the embers mod as forge glow, so the wings looked like they were on fire but at the expense of everything being almost black past it, if you went first person you had a built in light, 3rd person the glow killed it. There is essentially a cheat mod called lockpick pro that reads the lockpick and gives you a bar at the top you put the arrow in the green and you no longer break lockpicks last playthrough i seemed to have been a lockpick hoarder, ( i had over 3k) The rudy enb is just a few added tweaks to the ENB to get things like shaders etc to what rudy specified them. the ENB is already active (you should see a message about enb compiling shaders when you first start the game just before the splash screen)

No I didn't.Ā  I really don't want a darker Skyrim and from the notes in the guide that'sĀ  what I assumed they did.

Yes I noticed them and assumed that's why Skyrim looks rather gloomy.Ā  It's also why I was asking about just going ahead and installing the Rudy ENB preset/tweaks while testing sections of the guide.Ā  What do you think?

LOL, I've always ended up with scads of lockpicks and this would just make me have to call a hoarder intervention.Ā

Reshade will do whatever you want it to do, make the nights as bright as day, or as dark as a mine at midnight,Ā

The preset is just that, it tweaks all the settings in the ENB so it looks like you are going for, Aylis wanted a darker at night skyrim and it looks fantastic, i went to a lighter ENB preset. You can try this one or this one and see what you think.

I'll install ReShader.Ā  Before I start changing things up to much I'll stick with the guide and select one of the two on the list.Ā  This way when I mess it up I can get some help fixing it.Ā  Then after I become familiar I'll change things up if I need to.

Ā

I'm assuming ReShader and Rudy ENB play well together.Ā

Ā

Edit: Installed ReShader andĀ Velvet ReShade.Ā  Skyrim is not near so gloomy, while testing.Ā  I'm going to check out installing Rudy ENB this evening; although, it'll be early for the Guide.Ā  With the ENB binaries loading now, I believe it's correct for testing mods as I go.

I'm assuming ReShader and Rudy ENB play well together.Ā

as far as Reshade, you can have several presets installed and switch until you find the one you like. The Rudy ENB plays well with most systems and is pretty balanced in the daytime, and night time.Ā  But it is a good start point, and with ENB helper installed you can change any settings you choose and save your settings as your own settings. And the "list" is a guide, not an exhaustive listing of what makes skyrim pretty. Aylis refuses to use several mods i refuse to play without, like tamaska werewolf, Lupine, Bd's skimpy armor replacer, Bikini robes, luxurious robe retexture, etc. This list is what aylis wants, may not be exactly what you want, it is also helping people make their skyrim look better but still allow you to modify the list to suit what you want. So if a mod on the list is not to your particular tatses, find a replacement, put it in the exact same spot as the mod you don't want. But if there are issues, say you replaced mod A with mod Z, most of us that have been playing with this mod list will have variations from the straight list. even aylis has one list for playing, and one for testing, well, several for testing.. but with 330 pages of people having issues, or just generally discussing things with the list chances are a popular mod has been tried and tested and any problems with it are why it's insuitable for the list, such as when a shore mod caused 3 of us to go outside solitude and compare our water presets looking out over the sea because of this color looked off or whatever. I have one or two mods that do cause errors in the landscape, aylis will not if they are found, the error i found was right next to a tower (hags end? it's the one thats laying on it's side with the two warring hagravens i think one is called petra) where the ground had a glitch that affects gameplay (you can't shoot through the ground) so you will get wrecked just running into the tower with (using OBIS) has 4 mage witches that will kill you rather quickly.

So a long ass rant just to say, it's your game, mod it how you like, just use this one as a guide to get what you want.

This tool will come in handy if you're planning on testing different ENBs.

It basically stores the different files (enbseries folder, enblocal.ini and enbseries.ini) in external folders and you can add or remove them from your game folder via the program.

Initially I used Rudy (a very old version) for a while but then switched to Pi-Cho ENB. I also tested the new Rudy version including the Zangdar edit for LUX but always came back to Pi-Cho. Currently running Pi-Cho for Cathedral Weathers with LUX as lighting mod. No Re-Shade at the moment.

Ā

@remodel Note that several things factor into the lighting of your game.

ENB and Re-Shades certainly, but also weather mods, lighting mods, ini setting and even your monitor.

That's why there are always recommendations or even requirements. Rudy is available for Obsidian Weathers and Cathedral Weathers.

The CW version is now split into 2 versions for either ELFX as lighting mod or Window Shadows RT. Zangdar's Edit is for LUX.

Pi-Cho is a little bit easier, it lets you "patch" your lighting mods via the ingame helper menu.

Ā

Playing around and comparing is important. But a guide like this is a solid foundation to begin.

So in my save folder there are heaps of skse autosaves & quicksaves causing the folder size to be close to 2 GB.

Are they necessary? If not how would I go about removing them and preventing these saves from repeatedly occurring?

No they aren't needed at all. You can safely delete those skse files without the accompanied ess file. Remember, only those without ess file of same name.

Ā

A safer way is edit EngineFixes.toml, change value of CleanSKSECosaves to true. Next time you start the game, those abundant skse save files will be automatically deleted.

I don't know why but the recent CBPC and 3BBB shit on my game's stability. There is high chance of ctd whenever there's messy combat happening. The crash logs always say cbp.dll is the problem. Wonder if anyone got the same problem.

Afraid it's facegen problem. Maybe you can use different NPC overhaul. As far as I know, there is Pride of Skyrim and Courageous Women that cover all NPCs.

Ā

Of course doing so requires new game. If you're far into the playthrough, i'd suggest to bear with it.
