Holy moly! So many updates and so much to read…

Mods in use for this run:

I'll skip the update for AAF for the moment. Some people seem to have trouble with their savegames so i'll keep the 'older' 35. When everything runs fine i'll upgrade AAF and we'll see what happens then.

Elements got a new 'surrender' if that works well i might not need SEU anymore.

Themes look very promising. That way we can filter the stuff we don't want to have in our game. This will flag quite a few mod as 'Optional'...

Flashy did an excellent job with 'Elements'! I'm starting to like 'Elements' more than 'RSE' (and that was already very very good).

I've been using your mod list as a base, but replaced RSE with the various RSE Elements mods (without 6), and I think SEU is safe to remove since it's extraneous now.

@idgaflulz

Thanks for the info. :)

I just 'discovered' themes. Instead of having to install everything, to prevent possible bugs, now it is (hopefully) possible to finetune the experience.

In the end 'my' game will be a lot lighter, in regards to mods, as the one i'm running atm for all the tests. Weeks ago i already got to the point where everything was working fine for 'my' version of the game.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Even more patches to check for (we got a patch to patch the patch of a patch). This is starting to tax my eightcore...

Changing an area gets annoying, loading takes forever, saving takes forever, then AAF checks everything again (and i have a SSD only for gaming!). So i got to cut down on the animations and mods. As 'Devious Devices' is really starting to piss me off (10 fights - 6 times ending up in bonds) thats the group i'll get rid of.

After numerous assays, research, watching videos, investigating installation and load orders, experimenting with various combinations off multiple clean installs and thorough updating, the game refuses to run at all with AAF installed. Now, with an absolute bare minimum installed, starting a new game in MO simply white screens me. I'm thinking the only thing to do is walk away from F4  and come back in three or four years when smarter people than me have some of the bugs worked out.

Posted

Whitescreen is caused by broken or missing files.

But one thing is sure: AAF is a total PITA! RSE Elements Zero is starting to look very very interesting...

Posted

No, the themes replace the positioning tags. You will still need animations and patches.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Right now i'm running 22 mods for AAF, 8 Animation packs, and 17 patches...

Posted

Some of them got split. The 'Positioning Tags' split to three - RSE split to six. The complicated thing are the patches. There are patches for patches and a lot of them somewhere in the middle of a thread as they were not made by the original author.

A problem I've had since I started this crazy adventure is that all lesbian animations are replaced by M/F anims with a strapon. I loathe strapons and never want to see one, but when I tried not installing the strapon mod the game kept complaining that it was missing. This problem seems to be coming from the "AAF patches for Crazy & Leito" mod. In that mod's description I read something about turning off the strapons, but I can't make heads or tails of it. What do I need to do to make that happen?

ETA: I did a  full reinstall of AAF and associated files, the same as before except swapping out the position tags mod for themes and...so far...it works. Could it be that that one file was the core of all my problems, he asked rhetorically?

In my case, using NMM with 159 mods and 132 plugins, With everything installed including DD with AAF 38, I'm only getting one error now. I am not using any of the AAF Overlay Patches V2.0.0 by riot_punch however. Everything is still playable, no crashes, but after the conclusion of any scene I get this exact error, with no help from anywhere. This seems to be the only place even mentioning this error, so I have no clue how to resolve it. I have no idea what it affects either but I haven't noticed anything missing. I'm about to install the overlay patches and see if that does any damage.

Edit: So far I'm 3 hours in, no crashes, no Error messages. The only issue I have is Leito's animations don't align properly but everything else is running smooth. I believe the overlay patches by riot_punch fixed the error I had earlier as seen below.

AAFPackageAssignment.png

This error is listed about halfway down the main post.

That may be a contributory factor in all this...

As someone who's been making mods since Wolfenstein 3D, the biggest mistake a modder can make is not using a fresh install of the game when making mods.

1. Always use a fresh install of the game.

2. Never have ANY other mods installed, unless they are REQUIRED for your mod to run.

3. Keep the bitmaps at 1K. Fallout 4 wasn't designed for 2K & 4K bitmaps.

?

I'm in the same boat, I'm trying to avoid Strap-Ons (and the use of M/F animations on lesbians) at all cost and think I've managed to have an installation now that avoids them (basically avoiding Leito v.2, not installing the straps and otherwise using as few as possible packs and patches). Right now I don't get bothered by M/F poses on female couples and only get very occasional error messages (one error 34), currently the lack of furniture use is my biggest immersion breaker. But getting to this point was long and frustrating, there's sooo much bloat with all the packs and patches, and once it runs without errors you don't even want to see 2/3 of it. :)

The alignment of animations seem to be way better since i installed the themes (which replace the animation tags).

In regard to the strap-ons i wish we had something that checks if they are really needed for an animation (like 'wicked whims' does for 'Sims 4'). Maybe Halstrom can do something about that...

@TenFootMidget

Thanks for that piece of info. I had that error message back when i started the first testrun for the updates. I'll keep an eye out for it as i installed the patches for the second one. If they don't show up again we finally got a solution for that bug. Even if we don't know the real cause of it...

Besides VonHelton is totally right with 'fresh install of the game'. Thats what i meant with 'clean game' in post #1. Get all the crap out, use MO2 and stay far far away from some sorting tools like LOOT. Otherwise you will run into problems! The whole thing is finicky enough so you don't want a possible cause for problems on top of that.

Now back to 'Diamond City'... Sneaking through half of the Commonwealth.

Of course I spoke too stinkin' soon. My build allows me to start the game, yes, but sex scenes won't trigger either through SEU, AAF Prostitution, or the AAF dashboard (which doesn't even appear when I hit the Home key). Also, I seem to recall that AAF itself had a MCM entry, but that's absent. So it looks like another clean installation is in my stars. I swear, if I didn't want to play through Boston Breeder so badly...

Kythana, with your recommended build, what should the load order be? Should the various AAF .esps be right below the AAF .esm? Where should they all be in the load order? If I follow this general load order

______SHARED RESOURCES
______SETTLEMENT BUILDING MODS esms
__________BUG FIXES
________SETTLEMENT BUILDING MODS
________GAMEPLAY TWEAKS
____FOLLOWER TWEAKS
_____AESTHETIC TWEAKS
______SETTLEMENT TWEAKS
______ ITEM SORTING
______BODY REPLACER
________WEAPONS
________ARMOR - CLOTHING
________CRAFTING
______WEAPON MODDING
____ARMOR - CLOTHING MODDING
Armorsmith Extended.esp
all other what have Armorsmith Extended.esp as master

where do all the AAF mods come in that list? I've been putting them after the various Looks Menu  entries, which I park immediately below all the .esms, but I'm damned if I know whether all the .esms actually have to come first or if I got an erroneous idea somewhere.

Try post #244 or the spoiler in post #305. My sorting is in post #1.

Always have your files in this order:

Game files

DLC

*.esl

*.esm (unofficial patch last)

*.esp

So far thats the way i got the best stable results.

Info update:

Removing DD (and its dependencies) seemed to be the right choice. The game runs much smoother and the loading times got noticably much much better. Also the Infos from AAF at the start are finished earlier too. All in all it is a much better experience.

Also there is still something in there which still asks for 'Rogg DD Manager'. I guess i overlooked something and will have to go through the files again…

Updated the themes as there was a new update.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Forgot to deactivate 'Safari' just arrived at 'Abernathy Farm' and got killed by a lvl. 35 Brahmiluff (i'm lvl. 6 atm). The mod is great - but absolutely deadly if you are at a lower level.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

New texture pack for post #4. This one looks imho way better than Vivid in combination with the ENB.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Finally reached 'Sanctuary' - now back to 'Diamond City' (rechecking the SM), then Goodneighbor (for the Ghouls), and finally up north-north-east to get to the laboratory and the voucher for Ivy.

This should give me plenty of opportunities to recheck everything.

Sooo...let's just say that someone had followed your installation and load orders and now the sliders in looks menu don't work and absolutely no clothing or armor mods seem to be loading. I mean, just hypothetically. Would you have any suggestions for that person?

I'd say check your versions. Discounting textures i had to update almost every other mod (which uses F4SE) as i updated the game for AAF 38.

And now there's a new update out today for AAF 46, I'm almost not ready to update again since I just updated yesterday and everything works fine for me. I'm afraid updating again will lead to another decade of troubleshooting lol.

Oh <censored> <censored> <censored>!

*sigh*

So it's a new char… Again...

At least this way i can deactivate a few difficulty mods without having a possible bug in the savegame...

Here we got the new list (including AAF 46):

As usual:

The orange OK are parts that havn't been fully tested.

The green OK work fine.

Small tip:

With a new char: wait a moment in the first room until the first set of activations has run its course. As soon as you either leave the vault or enter the Commonwealth via 'Alternate Start' there will be a second set of activations. Don't do something 'til the last activation has finished.

Btw. Nate can get your female char pregnant before you even leave the restroom… Good for testing - not so much if you don't want that to happen. ;)

What are "Patch for Leito and Crazy animations 2.1" and "Patches for A.J. Various XMLs"?
