Sorry About being "that" Bitch, but I have to ask about the quest "Taking Control". Because I have no idea where the journal entries are.

 

If anyone can help me with this problem I'd would be very happy, because I don't want to stop playing this amazing mod.

Try setstage Laura_SQ09_Quest 1010   That's what the trigger is supposed to do in this case.

That's been known to happen from time to time. It may be an issue with excess load due to a well-used save file.

 

There is a workaround though using the Console. Before you open the chest, pull up each NPC's info in the Console and note down their Ref ID (right-side of the screen, second ID down).

 

Then when you transition to the cave, enter the following commands for each one that didn't make it.

 

prid <refid>

moveto player

 

Bring Jade over first, and then once they're both there the quest should progress normally.

Origin is actually pretty large, but you are assuming quest stages have to be numbered 10, 20, etc.  Some authors start out by setting major events at things like 100, 200, etc., which leaves a lot of room in between to fill out the rest of that segment.  The original Origin scripts show that Laura was jumping around writing things, so she arbitrarily picked 1000 as the stage for the end segment (leave dream and return to shop), which left her a lot of breathing room for the earlier stuff.  Bethesda does the same thing btw.  There are vanilla quests which go 100,200, 500, bam, 1000.

I think you're referring to the quest earlier in the story, I'm a bit further than that

Oh man, that was stupid. I had a look in the script, and the quest was supposed to advance after talking to Aldemar. However the replies... are a bit limited, so I thought he was done talking and it went back to the beginning. So I didn't actually get through the whole conversation, silly me.

And I wasn't really being serious anyway. I have a tendency to respect other's wishes, and I don't take a lot of stuff on this board very seriously anyway. My wild and carefree days are long behind me unfortunately.

I used the knife on the table, unlocked door, then used the knife on the 2nd table. I then read on this forum that there are supposed to be idols to switch constraints, but I don't see them anywhere. Am I bugged? Should they be near the table?

If I'm interpreting what you wrote correctly, there's nothing in that particular log snippet that would explain the problem. Is that right?

I might try doing (*sigh*) yet another fresh install without DCL tomorrow. I don't think it'll work, but why not, right?

The only thing that sucks is it takes like 2 or 3 hours to get through all the LBS content just to get to that point and probably find out it didn't help lol

BTW, @aurreth , I tried it from a clean install, without DCL. Same thing.

I don't know if this matters any, but what appears to be happening is my character keeps laying down, then getting back up, returning to her original spot, then laying down again. Just over and over.

My papyrus log is attached. Time period is [01/29/2023 - 09:28:14PM] to [01/29/2023 - 09:31:08PM]. I don't see anything that would be relevant.

The idols should be on the table where the second knife was. If they aren't there, then something is messing with your mod.

You mean the part right after in the snow? See if you can find a save before Origin starts and try again. Let me know how it goes.

I need some help with „taking control“. Not sure if I‘m missing clues or something is broken. I‘m currently at the part where you

However, when I enter the shop, the door gets locked behind me and nobody is there (except for dead guards). After maybe 10 seconds Laura spawns out of thin air right next to the door and starts talking. Dialogue ends with Laura telling you „she can‘t“

After that nothing happens. No further dialogue, no changes in quest objective, I searched the room for any clues or maybe key to open the door and even tried to fulfill the unpleasant thing but nothing worked. Pickpocketing Laura gave me the impression that she has to do something with that item but maybe I‘m just missing something.

I tried reloading the auto save when entering the shop a couple of times and also the one before that when exiting the cave from recharging. Nothing changed (except for Laura not appearing anymore when reloading the shop autosave)

 

If something‘s really broken I might just restart the entire quest, hoping it‘ll work then

That table is totally empty.

 

Any ideas on what could be causing such a problem, or a way to work around it? Could I safely unequipitem or modify quest, etc., with console to move on?

There's a small chest behind the shop counter holding the Thotium rock from way back in the beginning of the mod.  Try that.

I did see that display case but given every display case is locked anyway I didn‘t investigate further. Thanks, I‘ll go try that and search more thoroughly next time?

I'm sorry madam Laura. But I didn't know you have ties with the dawnguard. As long as my cattle keeps me company I won't need to feed on anyone here.

Right after you get put in the leather restraints and told to have some free time. The quest objective is "find the ledger" I have wandered the whole open area and only can find the one ledger I read earlier, and also can't read it again because I am blindfolded. Don't seem to be able to struggle out of restraints (which I imagine is the wrong solution anyways since you are trying to "blend in") and can't find any new interactions. I have even checked everyone's pockets to see if anyone has anything and other than a copy of Lusty Argonian maid (doesn't seem helpful) doesn't seem like that is the solution. It's been about 20 minutes so I don't think time is the solution.
