woodsman30 Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I watch them at times gives me ideas one I found that was amazing is by Gamerpoets and he has a character named Paxton. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%23TheTaleofPaxton This is by far the best one I have seen.
Guest Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 No, I don't. But in some cases I check walkthroughs when I am stuck in completing a quest or a mission. (Usually the ones for collectibles, like Vargas paintings in Mafia 3)
Ernest Lemmingway Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I'm not a fan of playthroughs myself. At least not Skyrim playthroughs. I've played the game so many times and explored everything at least once. If it's a playthrough of a truly massive mod like Beyond Skyrim, and the person playing keeps quiet, then I'll watch just to see if the mod is something I might want to try.
SpyVsPie Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Yes, but not for Skyrim. I really enjoy playthroughs of older games that I played myself a long time ago but have mostly forgotten about, it's a nice trip down memory lane. Been enjoying Oxhorn's New Vegas series lately for that reason.
afa Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I would watch uncensored playthrough of FO or TES with adult mods without commentary. Or a full troubleshooting video of adult mods. I am curious about how these mods behave and interact in other people's game. Like is this working as intended or am I the only one bugging out. Not having much luck finding those. As for other games I have and would watch playthough of games I don't plan to play, but am interested enough to see how they are like. Occasionally for tactic and strategy focus games I would watch it and see if I like the style of gameplay and pick up some tips before deciding if I want to give them a try.
crabb Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I watch speedruns of the games I couldn't complete when I was younger
SmedleyDButler Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Like CPU, I mainly "watch" them (i.e. skip to the relevant bit) for checking something. Sitting and watching someone else play a game when I could be playing myself seems a little odd to me. Though I do watch top players streams or videos for other, non-RPG games (FPS games mainly) to learn techniques and skills. But even that's not very often and usually because I'm looking for specific information.
Baron Of Hell Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I'm currently watching two skyrim playthroughs, two fallout playthroughs, a couple of minecraft playthroughs, just finished with Detroit, a dwarf fortress playthrough, a last of us playthrough that I just finish, and a dark souls playthrough. I'm watching a few more but I'll be here all day listing them. I am prone to watching games that I am currently playing but not past the point I am playing. Also love watching games with multiple endings. I think I watched most tale tell games 3 times after playing them my self. I use to watch a lot of Spelunky and did a lot of videos also on it. half the stuff on youtube I watch are game play videos. Oh then there are the fighting games. I could watch dragon ball fighters all day. Note I have never won a single match online in any game.
Grey Cloud Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 I watch them. Currently watching a couple of TW Rome 2 Let's Plays as I'm thinking of giving it another go. Don't watch Skyrim ones so much as they are pretty crap. (Don't get me started on why they are crap).
Regallag Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 I don't watch playthroughs, except as a last resort. If I need help finding a secret or achievement, I look for a source with text and image first. I usually only need a few sentences or one picture, but with playthroughs I have to find the exact right spot in the exact right video.
Ernest Lemmingway Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 There is one I watch from time to time, now that I think about it. "Let's Play Splatterhouse (2010)" by Fiendly. Less for the actual playthrough than the commentary and details on the soundtrack. Plus I get to hear Jim Cummings's lines as the Terror Mask without having to play the game myself. Beth criminally underused him in Skyrim; he voiced the "grumpy old men" like Wuunferth and Festus Crex, really constrained roles and using the same general tone with each character.

I agree but the one I posted about Gamerpoet is done almost movie like with the way he has fully voiced character and complete back story ..... easily the best play-through RPG I have had the pleasure to watch.
NickNozownik Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 I watch them only if the guy who's playing is entertaining and his playthrough is somewhat unique. I avoid Skyrim videos where someone plays with like 2 or 3 mods and tries to do the MQ/thieves/db/companions/college, that's just boring. It's kinda hard to find something decent. I don't know, just fucking kill everyone in Skyrim and cuck everyone in Crusader Kings and raid everyone back to stone age. Fuck demonetization, just say whatever the hell you want.

I've watched a bit of that vid. I hate it when they try to get all 'arty'.
The First Lady of Hats Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Watched Poet's Paxton (What I remember o' it, yes it was bloody good.) but dropped off somewhere along the way, Watch a lot o' the gopher's Skrims too but tend to drop off along the way. Think there comes a point in them all where they become routine and start loosing me so I'll poke my head in a few months down the line and see if'n they've picked up again. Mostly I watch and see how other folk rationalize doing the weirdness skyrim throws at players, "I am all powerfull mage, why the fuck am I joining the companions?" "I am noble knight of the divines, why the fuck am I doing the thieve's guild and Molag Bal?" Gives me ideas or inspiration for why my own folk get their "DO ALL THE THINGS!!" gear in.
Varithina Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Oxhorn and Kottabos are pretty much the only two I watch much of, though I do watch thenthapple's legend and lores stuff now and then as well. Oxhorn for his full story of videos for the most part, especially where he goes of to previous games for the lore and links it with the current games and characters. Kottabos more for his comments and such while playing at and seeing just how blind he is at times, when he spends ten minutes or so looking for something just to realise that it was where he started and had just walked straight past it, or completely ignored it.
