I kinda liked the look of the bare-backed birds. I tried the Wings: Remove potion, but that only restores the default wings. Thank you!
Bad Dog Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 Actually, wings remove does work, but the birds have a special spell that puts their wings back on. (That's because magic effects are removed randomly by the Skyrim engine.) If you find that ME and disable it you should be able to keep your birds wingless. 1

Bad Dog Posted June 21, 2020 Author Posted June 21, 2020 Don't think I knew about that. I think there's only one jump height in the game, so when the birds are loaded it's set for everyone. Now that real flying is a thing I'm not sure that setting is necessary.

The scrotum for real bats appears to be an awkward cross between marsupials, (above the penis) and placental mammals, (below the penis) basically centering their testicles directly to either side of the base on their penis, although it tends to lean closer to the marsupial method. The anus is not far from there, but that's impractical on a humanoid anthro, for obvious reasons. There are plenty of photographs of flying foxes in conservation shelters and zoos along with other bat species cleaning themselves which reveals their anatomy in detail. You can search it yourself, if you're morbidly curious. Fun fact: short-nosed fruit bats are "the only nonprimate species known to show fellatio, which enhances copulation time in the species." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_short-nosed_fruit_bat As an aside, (I'm just curious) is it possible in any way to have an option for a more realistic style of wing where the membrane is attached to their arms as a frame for them? Or would it conflict way too much with other animations? I'm going to make an educated guess here and assume you would run into clipping issues too challenging to resolve given game limitations, unless nobody cared. And since the flight mods appear to be someone else's work, would it end up being much too difficult and inflexible to enable anything like it? These are just random ideas I thought of which I figured I may as well throw at you. 1
Bad Dog Posted June 23, 2020 Author Posted June 23, 2020 I saved the image for future reference, if I come back to this. Couple of problems with wings that attach properly--first, clothes. Could just ignore it and let them poke through like the tails do. Then, arms. Easy to attach them to the arms but then they won't fly. It would just be a stretchy membrane. Animate them with the wing bones and there's no way to attach them to the arms. So I think we have to have a bat with wings and arms. Then, sides and legs. If wings are separate from the arms is it even worth doing? If so, I can imagine a smooth weighting from wing bone to side and legs that wouldn't look too horrible, but it would be super tricky. ADW/RF's animation method is finicky and I don't control the animations or the bones so there's a limit to what I can do. The SE version tho is better--the two mods are essentially combined. I'm sorta kinda reweighting the bird wings for it. When I'm done with deer and minotaurs I might come back and see what I can do there. What I do might be SE-only just because those wings are tricky and I'd rather do them once.
