Ivy Goes to Nuka World

When Ivy requests players to accompany her on what seems like a simple fetch quest inside Nuka World, they quickly learn this might be one of the most important and pivotal moments in Ivy's life.

"Ivy goes to Nuka World" is the final affinity quest for Ivy, wrapping up her personal story. Will you be able to help her set things right? Or will you fail and face the consequences?
Ivy 6.0 will be released on 30 December 2021.

Tips & Tricks for playing Ivy Goes To NukaWorld

Unlike the previous entries in Ivy's affinity quests, Ivy goes to NukaWorld knows several different endings (5 to be exact). If you have listened to Ivy up to that point, it should be 'easy' to know which steps to take (e.g. what to say to Ivy) in order for her final quest to have a successful ending, yet.. we aren't all psychologists. For this reason I will try to give you some gameplay tips on how to approach IGTN best below. I will try to clearly mark spoilers.

During testing, IGTN was compatible with all the well-known mods that overhaul NukaWorld.

Spoiler Free Tips

Tip 1: Make a hard save when the pop in the screen tells you to do so.

Ivy Goes to Nukaworld is completely separate from the base DLC's. Ivy will engage in dialogue for the base quests, but her own affinity quest is not related to the raiders in NukaWorld, or how you conduct yourself while there. Ivy has often spoken about the things she finds important. She does not care how you treat the world as long as you treat her right.

Remember: Gas-lighting is a thing.. so is encouraging violence and mistrust in others.

Things like that might lead to unwanted outcomes.

Spoiler Filled Tips

Read these if you tried the quest, had a bad ending, and for the life of you, you don't know why.

Spoiler

This is not the player's quest, but it is Ivy's quest. It's not up to the player to tell Ivy what to do, or how to approach this. It is not up to the player to decide how this quest ends, whether Stein lives or dies. This is not the player's conundrum and life challenge.. It is up to Ivy. The only role the player has is to be there for Ivy, support her unconditionally and when the time comes, jump into her mind once again to break the firewalls present that block her psyche from fully developing. In other words.. 'always choose the 'positive' response' (e.g. 444444444)

Steins Construct

Weapons are useless in this virtual environment. The key to beating this map is patience and observation. Things to remember:

- Stein's Construct is increasingly difficult depending on your game difficulty settings.

- Avoiding the lights is KEY. (THAT INCLUDES YOUR PIPBOY LIGHT!!!

- In Survival difficulty you will have almost no 'grace' period, once the light catches you. In easy mode, you can stay in the light for several seconds before agents of Stein catch you.

- Stay in either fully dark areas or stay close to Debby's candles for protection.

- Find and read all the notes thoroughly. THEY ARE KEY TO FINISHING THE MAP AND TO OPEN UP DIALOGUE CHOICES WHEN ENGAGING WITH THE FIREWALL AGENTS.

- This area is intended to be scary and make players feel helpless. You cannot engage and fight enemies, but it is not difficult per se. Be aware of your surroundings and make sure learn the patterns of the moving lights.

- If all else fails, watch the complete playthrough of this map.

- There is a root-access terminal inside Stein's Construct. Be careful with that. It will show you Ivy's emotional and biological state, which will indicate what type of ending you can expect later on.

Just started setting up FO4 again, and this was the first one I came to get. Happy to see you keep developing it (I have played all versions you have released) and, as others here, am excited for this. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do.

While waiting for Ivy 6.0, I'm doing some experiments. I'd like to use a mod called Companion System, to create a custom companion. My concern is, would Companion System ruin or negatively interact with Ivy?

Reginald_001

That has not been tested with Ivy 6 so the future will tell.t

Well, I'm posting this on the blog, dunno if it's better than the "Meet Companion Ivy 6.0" comment section, I will be told I suppose...

First, not a major problem indeed, but I had some kind of bug while Ivy makes my PC listen to their "private experiences" recordings or when they had some, through the dirty talk (when the black screen happens). I remember, on the previous versions, that a suggestive audio was playing for a few seconds, which don't with my Ivy 6.0 installation. Does anyone have this, is it an issue ?

Second, I'm really upset with my bad end and consider to start again the quest.

Few questions :

1. Am I right to think that the dices are loaded when the splash screen to NW appear ?

2. I used to, most of the time, answer yes to Ivy when she was asking my PC a question, thinking it was the right mechanic of the mod (yes=positive in a way). For instance, when she asked if her ass was too skinny, i chose yes even if I thought the contrary, and she seems satisfied. I'm not sure of this anymore, is there someone that can enlighten me on this point ?

3. SPOILER

Spoiler

I'm not sure, but I think that the different ends have a different titles. I had the "Sinister end" (Ouch!) and understood (but I'm maybe wrong) my main failure was a bloody behavior... True my PC killed a lot of raiders, super-mutants and Gunners, sniper style, which means without provocations, when approaching their strongholds, but in general for a good purposes. But I admit he lost control 2 or 3 times (for instance, he executed the 2 bound raiders in the combat zone after they taunt him ; yes, I know... Not nice indeed...).
My fear is that, to avoid this ending, I should change this way of fighting, which means no stealth. And I love that... Never was keen on frontal assault...
Am I misunderstanding ?

Well, that's all for now, thanks for reading and answering if you want.

I will be making a 'good ending' guide soon that will explain exactly what is needed to reach the good ending.

Should be a way to get her back really. That is a playthrough ending experience.  She will tell you she loves you all the way through then turns on you.  Lost all motivation to play after that. WIVS quits too.

That she tells you all the time to go kill raiders and such then if you do she shits on you after all is just plain cruel to those who waited all this time. Like a sick joke.,

The endings convey a point, there are two major branches of bad ending:

Vengeful
(Mercy returns, kills Stein and takes your shit if you've been bad enough)

Insecure (Ivy remains but she loses all trust due to extreme insecurity).

If you reached a bad ending, then you chose dialogue options during Nuka World that either made Ivy more insecure, or more vengeful, giving Deborah a chance to come back. The trick is to keep Ivy stable by only offering support, e.g. by NOT telling her what to do, by NOT voicing doubts about Stein, or saying 'we should kill him'. E.g. you get the good ending if you consistently choose the 'we'll fix this together' and 'I'm here for you' (etc..) choices.

You cannot 'win' Ivy back after a bad ending because anything that has any worth comes with consequences; if there are no consequences to our actions then nothing is worth anything. This is the entire point of the quest, this is what Ivy keeps speaking about. The consequences of her choice in staying with you, knowing that the entire relationship with the player was a trap designed by Stein.

The quest is designed in such a way that if you reached a bed ending, you missed the point of the quest (which is why I make a specific popup, instructing player to make a HARD manual save before jumping into the quest).

Other important information

- Only your DIALOGUE with IVY during Ivy Goes to NukaWorld has bearing on the endings. No other actions matter, you can wear Power Armor all you like and you can play/be a bad guy all you like. None of that matters.

- There is a terminal inside Stein's Construct called 'NX-2C Root Access'. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT AND DANGEROUS TERMINAL

ONLY if you have ALL Science! and ALL Robotic Expert perks, you can go into that and FIX whatever you screwed up during the ending.

You can ALWAYS check the current status (top two entries) if both say 'GOOD' then you have the good ending.

- The final quest is always called 'End Sinister' and players cannot interact with it, it only runs during the final speech that Ivy gives.

- The more you try to steer the quest into a direction, the less likely your chances for success will be. YOU are the NPC in this quest, not Ivy. It's up to her to figure things out, but she will need LOTS of support from you while this is happening. That is ALL that counts. (Remember what she told you when you first met!)

Yes, tough end when it goes bad...

But i take it as it comes, a real challenge.

There's a french saying for that : A vaincre sans péril, on triomphe sans gloire, which can be translated Winning without threat is winning without glory...

But i think we felt the same in the end...

I hated Stein from the start, hated him more after ?

Hi all, I wonder if someone can help me out here, seems I may have missed doing some thing. I have gotten to Steins bunker and the quest marker is on the trapdoor and when I go inside it is still on the trapdoor telling me to go outside. I have spoken to Stein and he only says to take good care of Ivy blah blah blah.

Can anyone tell me what I have missed here.

Ok, ended my second run of "Ivy goes to NW".

Thanks to your advices, I had it fine this time, and realize how much i wasn't focus enough on Ivy...

SPOILERS

Spoiler

Didn't realize indeed how much she was unsecure and lost, how much she needed the PC. There was a lot of clues in fact, but i passed by this major roleplay element. Shame on me...

The fact is, with my 2 tries, i knew, before entering Stein Construct, i fucked up (1st), did well (2nd). Ivy's behavior, the way she talked, even the way she stares, was revelant enough. Just to say how much Ivy is a masterpiece follower...

Not talking about her background, the revelations, everything is neat and higly designed.

Thanks for this gift you and your team gave to the FO4 modders community.

Some points i add :

You find yourself with others followers in the Stein construct if you don't ask them to wait... I think it was the same with "Into the deep" (but not sure), i suppose it's something related to the game itself, but i felt strange the first time...

Still hate Stein, and i know i shoudn't considering the full story, but i never was to empathic with the Shelley's mad scientist archetype... Sorry !

You little devil with the secondary Backup Processor ;-)

Sad to think it's over with Ivy's personnal adventures, but that's life, every good thing has an end...

That's all, many thanks again to you and all your team.

Maybe a bug, as soon as i finished the quest, i had no more quest marker...

You can loot and search what you want in the Stein Hideout, but there's nothing essential...

Ok, thanks for that quest marker will not go away so I am guessing the quests will not advance so I am stuck.
