Ivy Goes to Nuka World

When Ivy requests players to accompany her on what seems like a simple fetch quest inside Nuka World, they quickly learn this might be one of the most important and pivotal moments in Ivy's life.

"Ivy goes to Nuka World" is the final affinity quest for Ivy, wrapping up her personal story. Will you be able to help her set things right? Or will you fail and face the consequences?
Ivy 6.0 will be released on 30 December 2021.

Tips & Tricks for playing Ivy Goes To NukaWorld

Unlike the previous entries in Ivy's affinity quests, Ivy goes to NukaWorld knows several different endings (5 to be exact). If you have listened to Ivy up to that point, it should be 'easy' to know which steps to take (e.g. what to say to Ivy) in order for her final quest to have a successful ending, yet.. we aren't all psychologists. For this reason I will try to give you some gameplay tips on how to approach IGTN best below. I will try to clearly mark spoilers.

During testing, IGTN was compatible with all the well-known mods that overhaul NukaWorld.

Spoiler Free Tips

Tip 1: Make a hard save when the pop in the screen tells you to do so.

Ivy Goes to Nukaworld is completely separate from the base DLC's. Ivy will engage in dialogue for the base quests, but her own affinity quest is not related to the raiders in NukaWorld, or how you conduct yourself while there. Ivy has often spoken about the things she finds important. She does not care how you treat the world as long as you treat her right.

Remember: Gas-lighting is a thing.. so is encouraging violence and mistrust in others.

Things like that might lead to unwanted outcomes.

Spoiler Filled Tips

Read these if you tried the quest, had a bad ending, and for the life of you, you don't know why.

Spoiler

This is not the player's quest, but it is Ivy's quest. It's not up to the player to tell Ivy what to do, or how to approach this. It is not up to the player to decide how this quest ends, whether Stein lives or dies. This is not the player's conundrum and life challenge.. It is up to Ivy. The only role the player has is to be there for Ivy, support her unconditionally and when the time comes, jump into her mind once again to break the firewalls present that block her psyche from fully developing. In other words.. 'always choose the 'positive' response' (e.g. 444444444)

Steins Construct

Weapons are useless in this virtual environment. The key to beating this map is patience and observation. Things to remember:

- Stein's Construct is increasingly difficult depending on your game difficulty settings.

- Avoiding the lights is KEY. (THAT INCLUDES YOUR PIPBOY LIGHT!!!

- In Survival difficulty you will have almost no 'grace' period, once the light catches you. In easy mode, you can stay in the light for several seconds before agents of Stein catch you.

- Stay in either fully dark areas or stay close to Debby's candles for protection.

- Find and read all the notes thoroughly. THEY ARE KEY TO FINISHING THE MAP AND TO OPEN UP DIALOGUE CHOICES WHEN ENGAGING WITH THE FIREWALL AGENTS.

- This area is intended to be scary and make players feel helpless. You cannot engage and fight enemies, but it is not difficult per se. Be aware of your surroundings and make sure learn the patterns of the moving lights.

- If all else fails, watch the complete playthrough of this map.

- There is a root-access terminal inside Stein's Construct. Be careful with that. It will show you Ivy's emotional and biological state, which will indicate what type of ending you can expect later on.

Stein's Construct bug.

I found the code, but it doesn't work on the robot in front the door.

Find all the notes, sounds like you found only part of the code.

Please help!

The whole mod is absolutely incredible. I just finished Stein's Construct but the quest completion stays in upper left corner and I can't move.

Stein is moving back and forth on screen and Ivy is talking to me, smoke/haze is moving. I can't move, turn, jump, pull a weapon, nothing. I can pull up pippy, turn on it's light, and access everything else except move.

Any ideas?

Load an older save. Temporarily disable player headtracking & comments mod (if you have it installed).

You are a scholar and a gentleman. It was Player Comments and Headtracking. Got the 'good' ending continuing the original save.

Wow, just wow. Incredible all the way through.

One last question, Ivy explaining all that actually happened to her went by rather fast. I'm extremely interested in all the 'events' (trying to be careful of spoilers) that led to her becoming who she is. Is there any doc in the mod or available on here or your discord that details her story from her youth through to Nuka World?

Again thank you for the assist and for Ivy.

Turns out it was a required mod for Patran's Ivy replacer, THBrows. This (THBrows causing CTDs) is something I had run into before w no explaination or even hints from the author or other users. Once I removed THBrows (and then the replacer as it was dependant) game launches just fine w Ivy in all her debaucherous wonder installed :)

After all this time I finally finished the quest with “Good” ending. Thank you very much @Reginald_001.

Btw, why can’t I put 2 in the head of Stein? Bastard just teleported away 😂

My oh my, what an astronomical woman, I've never cherished Fallout 4 more, all the events were connected in a seamless manner, smooth as silk, yet I'm afraid there is a slight problem that I'm running into, at the very beginning of the "Stein's Construct" quest, when I'm teleported after Ivy says "Stay the fuck away from my baby"....he he, that's me baby 😁, I'm taken to the place with candles and notes, yet try as I might, I just die a few seconds later, no matter what I do, avoid the lights, die, go to the dark, die, go to the candles, die, even stay still and do absolutely nothing, you guessed it....die, it's sad, is there any way to fix this? Any help would be wholeheartedly appreciated 🙏

The quest checks the amount of light that falls on your body. So most likely you have a mod that lights things up (e.g. flashlight, whatever type of mod, weapon mods, etc.. etc..). You need to make sure that NO light falls 'on your body'. It literally checks the amount of light that is on you.

All that comes to mind that I have are lighting overhaul mods and mods that remove false light, so the darkness is pitch black.

Yet I sorted out the situation, at the risk of glitching such a monumental and pivotal moment for my darling Ivy's life, I did a Hail Mary, enabled essential for the protag (blessed be the cheat terminal), was teleported, and sure enough, seconds later, was attacked, brushed it off, and voilà! What do you know, it worked!...the quest went beautifully smooth until the very end....and I got the best ending!!! 🥳🎶 Now Ivy dearest is teleporting Zeller's head at my feet while I'm having a smoke, brings a joyful tear to my damn eye.

Thank you kindly for the quick response, you are remarkable dear Reginald 🌹

Just a quick guide for players wanting to get Ivy's good ending. Spoilers ahead, but here’s how I did it:

There are a total of three dialogue checks in Ivy Goes to Nuka-World: one at Nuka-Station, another at Kiddie Kingdom and, finally, one at Dry Rock Gulch. As per Reg's hint, I chose the last answer, number 4, in all cases. That should do it.

To view your current status, there’s a Terminal named NX-2C Root Access in the first half of Stein’s Construct which allows players to check whether they’ll receive the good ending. If both the [Biological Containment] and the [Mental Status] fields (the first two entries) are set to 'Good' then you’re on track.

Otherwise, as a fail-safe, you can change the status of these two entries if you have the prerequisite rank 4 in Science and rank 3 in the Robotics Expert perk. I used the Cheat Terminal to temporarily give myself the missing three points in Robotícs, although it turned out that I didn’t need them.

There’s also an excellent video walkthrough of Stein’s Construct, courtesy of the Companion Ivy YouTube channel:

Finally, I’d advise against going to Nuka-World before Ivy explicitly asks you. Reg thankfully left most of the 5 Holotapes in easily accessible areas, so there’s no need to clear entire parks in order to retrieve them. Just concentrate on the IGTN mission first to get it out of the way, then continue playing the DLC, confident that Ivy will now stay with you for the remainder of the game.

Good luck!

Thanks for this mod! Ivy is a wonderful mod! In my opinion, the best companion mod ever!

You wrote above that Ivy only stays with the player in one ending. I was allowed to keep her, so does that mean I got "the best ending"? That would be the only reason to actually redo the final quest. I found the last quest awful, though, and so bad that I'll probably avoid Ivy in the next rounds.

I highly recommend everyone avoid using the AFT and headtracking & comments mods. These two caused me to freeze after teleporting, as described above!

(Please excuse the poorly written text; translated with Google)

Weird, all testers could use it during the testing period. Must be a mod doing something with your terminals.

I had the same problem with a terminal. It seems to be an issue with an item in front of it. It feels like when I activate the terminal, my character stands on that item and gets stuck clipping into the wall.
Also, regarding the quest: for me, everything ended with the dialogue between Ivy and Stein. They talked and decided to part ways peacefully. Is that a good ending?"

If Ivy continues to follow you as your companion -> everything is fine

2026 and I'm still having that problem. Did anyone ever address this?

Yes it's been addressed many times. :)

The cause is 'player and headtracking comments' which interferes with the camera/end movie credits. Temporarily disable that mod and you can play through the end fine. In a future (Ivy 7.0 update) this will be addressed differently as I am planning on altering that ending sequence to make it more like a regular dialog scene.

Just finished both the original and the NukaWorld portion.

BRAVO. Well written story full of humor, action, smut, and psychology. I don't know that I've been this invested in a mod in my many years of gaming. Played like a great book I didn't want to put down. Seriously thank you.
