Ivy Goes to Nuka World

When Ivy requests players to accompany her on what seems like a simple fetch quest inside Nuka World, they quickly learn this might be one of the most important and pivotal moments in Ivy's life.

"Ivy goes to Nuka World" is the final affinity quest for Ivy, wrapping up her personal story. Will you be able to help her set things right? Or will you fail and face the consequences?
Ivy 6.0 will be released on 30 December 2021.

Tips & Tricks for playing Ivy Goes To NukaWorld

Unlike the previous entries in Ivy's affinity quests, Ivy goes to NukaWorld knows several different endings (5 to be exact). If you have listened to Ivy up to that point, it should be 'easy' to know which steps to take (e.g. what to say to Ivy) in order for her final quest to have a successful ending, yet.. we aren't all psychologists. For this reason I will try to give you some gameplay tips on how to approach IGTN best below. I will try to clearly mark spoilers.

During testing, IGTN was compatible with all the well-known mods that overhaul NukaWorld.

Spoiler Free Tips

Tip 1: Make a hard save when the pop in the screen tells you to do so.

Ivy Goes to Nukaworld is completely separate from the base DLC's. Ivy will engage in dialogue for the base quests, but her own affinity quest is not related to the raiders in NukaWorld, or how you conduct yourself while there. Ivy has often spoken about the things she finds important. She does not care how you treat the world as long as you treat her right.

Remember: Gas-lighting is a thing.. so is encouraging violence and mistrust in others.

Things like that might lead to unwanted outcomes.

Spoiler Filled Tips

Read these if you tried the quest, had a bad ending, and for the life of you, you don't know why.

Spoiler

This is not the player's quest, but it is Ivy's quest. It's not up to the player to tell Ivy what to do, or how to approach this. It is not up to the player to decide how this quest ends, whether Stein lives or dies. This is not the player's conundrum and life challenge.. It is up to Ivy. The only role the player has is to be there for Ivy, support her unconditionally and when the time comes, jump into her mind once again to break the firewalls present that block her psyche from fully developing. In other words.. 'always choose the 'positive' response' (e.g. 444444444)

Steins Construct

Weapons are useless in this virtual environment. The key to beating this map is patience and observation. Things to remember:

- Stein's Construct is increasingly difficult depending on your game difficulty settings.

- Avoiding the lights is KEY. (THAT INCLUDES YOUR PIPBOY LIGHT!!!

- In Survival difficulty you will have almost no 'grace' period, once the light catches you. In easy mode, you can stay in the light for several seconds before agents of Stein catch you.

- Stay in either fully dark areas or stay close to Debby's candles for protection.

- Find and read all the notes thoroughly. THEY ARE KEY TO FINISHING THE MAP AND TO OPEN UP DIALOGUE CHOICES WHEN ENGAGING WITH THE FIREWALL AGENTS.

- This area is intended to be scary and make players feel helpless. You cannot engage and fight enemies, but it is not difficult per se. Be aware of your surroundings and make sure learn the patterns of the moving lights.

- If all else fails, watch the complete playthrough of this map.

- There is a root-access terminal inside Stein's Construct. Be careful with that. It will show you Ivy's emotional and biological state, which will indicate what type of ending you can expect later on.

Ok, thanks for that quest marker will not go away so I am guessing the quests will not advance so I am stuck.

Not Sure...

If you find yourself in Stein Hideout and had the final talk with Ivy and Stein, the quest's over.
Did you had "End Sinister" pop-up and won XP ? If soo, it's only a marker's bug, not really important.
Ortherwise, you can complete the quest with the setstage [quest id] [stage #] console command...

Thanks for the reply. I forget what I was doing but a quest came up to go and confront Stein. No "End Sinister".Where do I find quest ID's and stage numbers etc.

Hope i'm not wrong, but it seems :

Nuka ID's quest is XX00AFCE (XX is your Companionivy_Nuka.esp load order number, you must check it in LOOT).

Final stage is 50.

Tell if it's ok if you can...

Edit : otherwise, type -> help sinister 4 <- in console, you'll get your proper Nuka ID's quest.

I got the good end using the guide.  Thanks.    Only thing I will add is in instances where she says "my boss is being and asshole" even when she tells you she loves you more than anything is disturbing and yes I know she is psycho but she still does it even if you have got the good end.   That and her being upset for making her stop prostitution.

I just treat her like the pig she is now and leave her alone.   Sad end either way you play it.  Pretty much sums up most women today. They all want to be Lillith but forget who her master was/is.

Weird, are you sure you get the good end ? ?

On my side, never had the sentence you quote...

Nor she's upset by protitution, or f*ck*ing Sturges... (dunno if it's a ghost in the machine, but as soon as my PC told her "ok" - and he wasn't in facts - she responded that she was exclusive to him)...

There's something strange about Ivy... Very strange...

And that's what makes Ivy so much interesting.  I got the good ending too - well for my playthrough, that was a good ending with Ivy and Stein *IMO.

I haven't experienced the comments above or maybe just something lost in translation.  I am even planning to give my Ivy her own settlement.  She dreams of an Island yes?  I can give her one ;)

Haha why?  With the Beach mod I can turn it into one :D

I haven't unlocked it yet.  Still waiting, praying, doing lotsa reloads till the Resettle Refugees Quest appears ?   Although it is already ready.  I got the combined Warwick - Spectacle with a Suspension Bridge installed.....

EDIT:  So it won't be OT, I just got the PA Hoarder mod.  Much convenient and also so Ivy won't complain much

Great mods, I've been really amazed by Reginald's work.  I think I'm missing something regarding Ivy Goes to Nuka World, thus I'm seeking help if I missed something please.

From reading what's already been posted, I think the Ivy's quest should have triggered by now.  I'll share what I've done to this point:

  • Installed the mod CompanionIvy6
  • Started a totally new playthrough, as recommended
  • Completed her "Into the Deep," EDIT - "Robotic Assimilation," and Hypercombat quests
  • Did NOT get (nor do) the Secondary Backup Memory quest.  I read how Ivy gives the quest after she mentions it 10 times...I guess she hasn't yet
  • Got to level 30, got the Nuka World quest prompt
  • Installed the mod CompanionIvy_Nuka6 at that point
  • Tuned into the Nuka World radio station, got the mission then
  • Entered Nuka World via the Gauntlet as per usual
  • Killed the Raider bosses in the "Open Mission"
  • Started just exploring Nuka World (I hoped walking around would trigger Ivy's memory)
  • I actually got the Personal Logs of Dr. Stein 2 and 3, but still no quest

TL;DR - I'm quite along the ways on the Nuka World content, finding Dr. Stein's logs 2 and 3, and I was talking to Ivy hoping she'd have some sort of conversation trigger.  Am I missing anything please?

Sorry for the dumb question, and it's because I'm not even sure what's supposed to happen.  I'm wondering if I needed to have done her Secondary Backup Memory quest (which just has yet to trigger for me) before Ivy talks to me about Nuka World, or maybe I need to find the 1st of Dr. Stein's tapes (I found 2 and 3 on accident, not the 1st yet.)  Thanks in advance on any help you can provide.

You're too early. Load a previous save. Don't go to NW before Ivy asks you too.

Robotic Assimilation needs to be finished first.

Outstanding, thanks for the quick reply.

I did do Robotic Assimilation and forgot to mention it (I did a lot of the Ivy content, great stuff,) but I did NOT have Ivy ask me to go to Nuka World.  I just didn't think I need to be prompted, since it was just part of the normal course of gameplay, especially since the DLC itself gives you a quest to.

I'll try that now, I did have a savegame before I even turned on the Nuka World radio station, will try talking to Ivy to trigger a prompt.

So a bug...

I made it a point to not spoil myself at all on Ivy 6.0 because she's awesome and I want to experience running around with her without spoilers.  This meant I was not aware of the whole not going to Nuka World until she brings it up.

Now, every 10 seconds or so she says, "I want to talk to you about Nuka World," but when I try to talk to her, I just get the random filler conversations.

Given how much further I've gotten since I essentially cleared Nuka World, I'm not really keen on trying to find a pre-NW save, especially since that'd also mean having to replay several Ivy quests.  Instead, I'm (and ya, I know the potential pitfalls) thinking I should use console commands to force start the quest if possible.  Which is my first question:  How would I use the console to force start Ivy Goes to Nuka World?

Second question: Would it be possible to update Ivy so this isn't a problem anymore?  Like I said, I love having her as a companion, and I've had fun running with her just because some of the random things she says crack me up.  But the whole "I want to talk to you about Nuka World" spam has essentially forced me to leave her at the Nuka World Red Rocket until I figure out a way to deal with it.

Anyway, thanks for the great mod and (hopefully) helping me out with this.

I love this companion, and all her quirks, but got quest marker for nothing, and the quest , in Nuka-world is telling me to talk to Ivy, but she won't talk anymore, just closes dialog.  Wondering if re-installing the mod might fix it?  or set stage console?  Anyhow, awesome companion, she changed the game for the better.

Ok, ran the holotape to test Ivy's compatibility, and I'm running everything I'm told NOT to, lol.  My base game is Horizon survival/veteran, all dlc's, unlimited companion framework, AAF with every single Theme, violate, SEU, and sometimes Beggar Whore for kicks. UAP gives me the most headaches, and seems to greatly limit my available AAF scenes, but one to bang them all works better for ma, and Ivy got past the first 4 holotapes in Nukaworld.  Heading out to get her fifth holotape tonight, a bit glitchy, she randomly seems to stumble on the quest markers and talks, I cannot initiate conversation after playing the holotapes with her, but she is still working and so worth it, love Ivy, amazing companion.  Dispite my conflicting mods, she still works and adds great  dialog and charm.  PS, re-installing her mod did kick start me to get past tape 2 and 3, on a lv 92 character save game.

This is the kind of storytelling I expect from Fallout 4. The story is good, the mod is technically excellent. I am in her subconscious and I must say that I miss such feelings in FO4. This mod reminds me of Coito Ergo Sum and Quo Vagis.
I just stopped here to thank you for this experience. 11/10

The endings convey a point, there are two major branches of bad ending:

Vengeful
(Mercy returns, kills Stein and takes your shit if you've been bad enough)

Insecure (Ivy remains but she loses all trust due to extreme insecurity).

If you reached a bad ending, then you chose dialogue options during Nuka World that either made Ivy more insecure, or more vengeful, giving Deborah a chance to come back. The trick is to keep Ivy stable by only offering support, e.g. by NOT telling her what to do, by NOT voicing doubts about Stein, or saying 'we should kill him'. E.g. you get the good ending if you consistently choose the 'we'll fix this together' and 'I'm here for you' (etc..) choices.

You cannot 'win' Ivy back after a bad ending because anything that has any worth comes with consequences; if there are no consequences to our actions then nothing is worth anything. This is the entire point of the quest, this is what Ivy keeps speaking about. The consequences of her choice in staying with you, knowing that the entire relationship with the player was a trap designed by Stein.

The quest is designed in such a way that if you reached a bed ending, you missed the point of the quest (which is why I make a specific popup, instructing player to make a HARD manual save before jumping into the quest).

Other important information

- Only your DIALOGUE with IVY during Ivy Goes to NukaWorld has bearing on the endings. No other actions matter, you can wear Power Armor all you like and you can play/be a bad guy all you like. None of that matters.

- There is a terminal inside Stein's Construct called 'NX-2C Root Access'. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT AND DANGEROUS TERMINAL

ONLY if you have ALL Science! and ALL Robotic Expert perks, you can go into that and FIX whatever you screwed up during the ending.

You can ALWAYS check the current status (top two entries) if both say 'GOOD' then you have the good ending.

- The final quest is always called 'End Sinister' and players cannot interact with it, it only runs during the final speech that Ivy gives.

- The more you try to steer the quest into a direction, the less likely your chances for success will be. YOU are the NPC in this quest, not Ivy. It's up to her to figure things out, but she will need LOTS of support from you while this is happening. That is ALL that counts. (Remember what she told you when you first met!)

there is a problem at 'NX-2C Root Access' terminal

cant see it.

zoom in like any other terminal, but just see Wall above terminal

cliking sounds, but no text.

maybe Scale problem i guess, but cant fix using 'setscale 1'

Weird, all testers could use it during the testing period. Must be a mod doing something with your terminals.

Ok, this is the ending I got: Ivy says that, without my support, she would have ended badly. She says her and Deb are like a choir, singing at unison and she wanted to stay friends with Doc Stein. My affinity with Ivy is ok, she loves me more than ever. Can I assume I reached the "good ending"?

I found the root terminal in the construct, but couldn't access it, despite Science and Robotic Expert at top level (actually, I can access the terminal, but camera goes on its own and I only see the wall). I loved each moment of Ivy's story...

Yup. The good ending is the only ending where she doesn't leave the player. :)

Same here. I tried to force start quest with console but nope... This is weird coz my first run with Ivy worked fine. In this one all was fine, all quests started properly but nuka world one...

I tried rdf command to reset the dialogue of Ivy but she still saying: "I want to talk to you about Nuka World"...
