Even while it looks a bit like masturbation, since Beth is unlikely to read this thread ever, I'll still add my $0.05.

1. The game should be zoned, the way it was in TES and in FNV. No more "everyone fights everyone everywhere across the map" BS. A safe zone on the map, having human settlements already. So you could stay there as long as you like, RP any character you want, from a mechanics to a prostitute. The further you are from the safe zone, the more dangerous enemies you meet. Super Mutants have their own zone of control, there are areas populated by feral ghouls and there is one which is the worst, populated by robots. If you go there w/o proper preparation, you are insta-fucked. You need some high-caliber AP and EMP ammo to handle them..

2. High risk - high reward. This "Legendary" BS with random drops is atrocious. Artifacts should be rare and you really should work hard to find them. Boss chests, FFS.  Rare high-grade weapons, armor upgrades etc. If you take over some bunker protected by robots, the loot should make you feel like "OMG!!!! OMG!!!", not just some more boring .308 ammo and chems. Loot in FO4 sucks big time, there is simply no point in going somewhere for a loot, since enchanted legendary items are dropped randomly by random enemies in random encounters.  Where are my Dragon Priests masks and Daedric artifacts equivalents? While the Loot Overhaul mod fixes a lot of minor problems, the basic broken nature of FO4 loot still doesn't look like it could be fixed.

3. Factions should be self-sufficient. The idea to tie them all into the MQ was really dumb - I can't just join a faction and play through the character story, no. No matter what I do, my character is still dragged into an artificial and silly "conflict of ideologies".

4. A sensible, RP friendly, character building. Separate stats/skills/perks as it used to be, so building unique characters would be possible again. Strength requirements for crafting armor? Charisma requirements for alcoholism immunity? This couldn't be more nonsensical.

No more teleporting enemies.

Screw molerats and radscorpions.

I agree with so many of the above suggestions I wonder if I'll ever buy another Bethesda title. I waited for a year and an Oculus ready system before I got FO4.

Thank the gods for the modders ❤️

Don't get me started on DiMa's minigame. It's as bad as Dragon Age: Origins - Mage Tower quest (which I also Modded to bypass).

with all of the good points everyone has posted which is perfect the next single player fallout game.

for me, I want a proper settlement system where the settlers can handle themselves instead having you to leave your side quests, major stories, etc. and baby sit them. something like kinggath has made for his mod.

would be awesome if they can hire the modders from the modding community to help them design the next single player fallout.

Also a working non ticking time bomb mod editor made by bethesda that makes us easier to mod. if they can that is.

Oh, don't worry, they will. Then you'll purchase their work on CC. They already do this with Skyrim - Survival Mode for SSE has been created by Chesko, for example. So you could expect something like Sim Settlements being sold on CC for mere 15 bucks in FO5.

Yeah I can definitely agree with this. I am busy on a Fallout 4 playthrough (I have yet to finish the game since struggled to get into it at launch and left it a long while) and I'm stunned by how lame and cheesy the dialog and writing is. The only really cool character I'm impressed with so far is Nick Valentine, the others are just stereotypes (hopefully there will be other colourful characters). It's mainly the sex that keeps me playing.

Well I don't know what the bugdet bethesda operates, but considering how much their writing, I'm sure we can let them gone for a favor of Avellone, if indie studio can hire him, why not the big AAA titan, pretty easy fix for the writing problems, while I find it is improved in Fallout 4 compared Skyrim and Fallout 3, it has still concerning problems wich the forced background and the voiced pc just greatly empowered.

I can get rid the voice, the wheel and the forced background improve the game with large margin along with a sponge remover and the athmosphere mod I use, great, but writing is something even modders can't help.

Nick Valentine is definetly something and Far Harbor was pretty solid ,althought only since it was not lead by the guy who wrote us vanilla :P , factions was good and main bad too, if this levels of writing would bene in the main game, main quest would be more interesting thought still ruined by sHAUUUN parts..

I do think companions are big improvements from what we got bethesda titles, they are solid there are a few better written ones.

Sadly Piper got shafted despite she got the most life, no companion quest etc despite her being involved the story quite much.

Better roleplay.

Morrowind, Oblivion or New Vegas went in the right direction, but since Skyrim the Roleplay devoluted

Damn straight I loved the system as it was in Morrowind your race, birthsign and class all matter giving you both buffs and debuffs setting up you character really meant something.

If the Settlement building contiues on Fallout 5:

   Bigger but fewer Setttlements.

So true FO4 has so many damn small settlements 2 or 3 people and room for maybe one extra building. How is that even considered a settlement?

Better Npc ai

Amen to that.

a modfriendly stabile Game Engiene which you cant overmod.

If Bethesda dont use a entirely new Game Engine,  they have to spend a lot of time to refubish it.

Graphics are important but stability on a high modded game is most important.

Oh I am so tired of going through a load door and having the damn game crash or half the textures refuse to load. Or the ever popular can't start a quest because the dialog option isn't there. Hell those two examples don't even require modding to f*** up. I was going to complain about framerate drop in heavily modded areas but that might just be my piece of crap machine.

Apart from the having skills (rather than a bloated perks list), what I miss most is item condition - it gave me a reason to why I'd need to collect items to repair it to either use it more effectively or sell it for a better value.  crappy weapon crappy price, good condition good price.

Yes that's true too. Back in Morrowind I never went anywhere without a few sets of tongs. Need to keep the armor and weapons in tip top shape. Now in Skyrim I can swing a rusty (piece of crap) iron sword forever.

Loved the old days in the middle of a huge fight your armor or weapon just breaks and you are screwed if you don't have a back up. Now that's realism, IRL you don't buy a kitchen knife use the F*** out of it, never sharpen it and have it be as good as new 3 years down the road.

I just want a detail UI for pipboy, how the hell that in the game it can't have as many detail numbers fitted into the pipboy?

Yes, I am looking at morrowind level of info data.

This is my return, since 2015-2016, to a game that has sat in my collection gathering dust. And among the thing I found idiotic that others have listed already, there are a few that still bother me. The amount of boarded-up houses and shops I can't break into. All the shiny, colourful crap attached to buildings that haven't faded in 200+ years. All the unlootable containers, cupboards, and furniture. And the one mechanic I miss using the Pip-Boy; hostiles should either be tracked when in range continually, or hidden completely until I can see them. Not this "Ooo, hostile! Oh wait...they're not. Hey, they just went hostile again when I scratched my ass!"

And where in the 999 layers of this abyss can I get my hands on some lingerie? ?

I have also just recently returned to the game after getting it at launch. My first character wasn't particularly interesting, left her after early on in the main quest. Now returning to it with a new character this year I'm finding that while the mod selection isn't nearly as large as Skyrim it is of good quality.

Some on my wishlist:

Some kind of radiation system that can mutate victims in interesting sexual ways. Two penises, three tits, lots of tentacles coming from sensitive areas.

A zombie outbreak scenario where the contagion is spread by sex and tje mindless ghoul ravagers chasing you down aren't out for blood, exactly

A plot driven sex-via-dialog mod the likes of which can be found in Skyrim and Fallout NV.

Anyway those are my pipe dreams...

Odd thought when I last opened a fridge; Mutated Leftovers, a slime creature that attacks the unwary. Could be an Adult or Non-Adult mod. Adult would be.....interesting.

Deviously Cursed Refridgerators? ?

I wish the Gunners were implemented in a way that makes sense. They're supposed to be mercenaries, with a highly militaristic structure and culture, not a bunch of crazy anarchists who just shoot everything in sight for absolutely no reason.

Even if the game didn't allow you to join them, it would at least make sense if you could hire them. Maybe buy a Gunner contract to provide security to a settlement for example.

I've only found one mod that tries to fix this issue, and it's apparently old, broken, and not very good. Darn.

I've wished for a smarter NPC AI for quite a while, apparently that's never going to happen.  Progress is happening in that direction though thanks to an individual named DieFeM, who has come up with a script to have settlers finally get out of the rain/rad storms and find shelter.

https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5769482-mod-that-makes-npcs-go-under-roofs-when-rainstorm/page-2

It's still a work in progress, but I've been using it for the past couple of weeks and the settler NPC's no longer stand out in the rain or rad storms pulling weeds and sweeping anymore, and will go to a designated shelter during the storm.

My next big wish is for the NPC's to either cringe away or pull a weapon when I aim a weapon at them. I've come to the point of just shooting any NPC that is hanging out in a doorway that I want to get through...

1st person body

ENB where skin looks as good as in Skyrim (eg. Fair Skin +Snapdragon)

True HDT phisc for body and armors

High quality skinpy armor + clothing replacer similar to Remodeled Armors

NFSV plugin for Sim Settlement

Crafting system from Fallout 76 where I must find plans and recipes.

And lot of things posted above.

A Diamond City legal system with punishments beyond the whole town turning hostile for pickpocket or even accidentally picking something up and some AI improvements to companions so they dont run in front of your line of fire or stand on the loot as well as some way to not click companions when they are behind you in third person (having to go to first person to open doors because you cant get a companion out of your target as an example)

Oh and a correction for the bug that makes the move direction stick sometimes, as in I am strafing pushing forward and sideways but when I let off sideways I keep moving laterally until I release all keys to stop then I can move straight ahead again.

I know I'm a bit late here, still - they could start with hiring a writer. Guess what - FO4 had no dedicated writers working on it at all.

All writing was done by quest designers.

I mean Chris Avelonne is freelancer, Beth could pretty much hire him for do all the writing xDD, probably could do great job even with the "rpg" of theirs.

Yeah, that is pretty much shown, they kind of cheap there I guess.

Writer would be good, cause quest designers not really dedicated ones

a setting other than the East or west Coast,  why does Everyone ignore Places like Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska, or Iowa ? what could be more " 1950's Americana" than "any town" USA ?

imagine a map that's Large and has multiple Towns and medium sized cities instead of one Big City in the corner of the Map,
