I like this one very much!- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFfj-em-hJo

@ GimmeBACON- OMFG! I had completely forgotten about this band. Thanks!

I think you also know Jason Becker. He is a very good guitarist. I think if he hadn't suffered from ALS, then he'd beat most guitarists out there. Yngwie, Marty Friedman, Petrucci, EVH etc. He did many awesome things just at the age of 18/19.

What a poll. There are lots of excellent guitarists about.

Some of my favourites:

- Paco de Lucia

- Igor Presnyakov

- And yes, good old Paul Simon. He made me get the goose bumps every time I heard the music of Simon and Garfunkel.

- Terry Clements, long time lead guitarist of the Gordon Lightfoot band.

Yes, I know. I hadn't choice for more than 20 guitarists. So, I used 19 guitarists who are usually very popular. And left one item for any guitarist. I know, Paco de Lucia is a lot better than Angus Young or Tony Iommi. But very few people know him. So, I only added those guitarists who are very popular and some others who are very talented (only few of them) e.g. Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Michael Angelo Batio. They're both popular and talented.

Yep. His guitar was more like an extension of his body- there was nothing he couldn't do with it. His unique style and god-like talent will live as long as music can be heard. I've never heard anyone that can sound just like him.

Prince could get pretty damned Hendrixian if he wanted to.

So... fav guitarists. Jimi. Prince. Neil Young (for the sound).

Ofc, when you get down to the blues side of things, you can't go wrong with the 3 Kings, ever.

I'll also drop the name Popa Chubby. He's a great all-rounder: guitarist, songwriter, producer, not a bad singer either.

As an ex musician (bass), I've played in bands that covered the work of all but a few you've listed. I was, and AM still amazed by the style, skills, and innovation each has brought to the music scene.

Since my Listening has curtailed over the years and finding music groups in general don't 'do it' for me anymore, I tend to go nostalgic and wrap myself in my youth, when these gifted artists abilities motivated me. I can still feel it like an echo across time.

Nowadays, movie music seems to be my main source of enthusiasm. Which brings me to:

Tina Guo

This cellist is doing things that take me back to the days of guitar heroes and makes me excited when I hear things like the Wonder Woman theme from BvS.

But if I had to pick, Eddie Van Halen. No matter what song he plays, it always ends up sounding like Van Halen. Unique sound, with an effortless style. A cover band that never sounded like the originals. People like this are why I quit. Some are born Mozart, others aren't.

Sidenote: Saw the MJ live Beat-it video and Eddie came on stage to play. He was great, but the video really exposed the weakness of Jackson's live performance (out of breath and short weak vocals, Studio musicians without the ability to improvise).
