Console players are used to pay extra for everything. Preorder bonus pack, early access, better equipment, new maps, or even just some cheap retextures.

Which by the way defeats the argument that PCs are too expensive. And it gets even more fun when you factor in the company-exclusive currency you have to buy first, which never fits with the actual prices of the products so the remaining difference is what the product costs more than its listed price.

Now i was thinking what the purpose was of the CC files being pre-downloaded to everyone's PCs. Seeing how easy they can be made useable without paying for it, i must say that this smells like a deliberate honeypot to bait PC users into easily trackable piracy.

Modify the esp slightly and repackage it and they wouldn't be able to tell except for things that use custom meshes and such but that would require someone turning the modder in or them watching other sites like LL or Nexus. As it is most everything there is either already available as a mod or has something that is nearly identical, everything else is just junk.

2 things I can say for sure already are the Hellfire Armor, that has been on the Nexus for a while and the Black Pipboy (I have had that mod for a while now).

So... yeah. Launched steam to get into F4, but no, a random update appears! You use F4SE! It's not very effective! :-/

Does anybody know how long it will take for F4SE to update? I really don't want to mess with downgrading the game.

I wouldn't bother with altering your game unless you just can't wait for f4se to be updated.  I'm sure they are either working on it or very soon will be.  They are extremely well known for keeping up to date.  They are, however, only human.  Meaning, they can get it to it when time allows.  I'm certain they are aware of the issue.

Update was put into place just yesterday (evening on my time).  Give it a little time and all will be well.  Longest I've ever known for them to update has only been a couple days.  It could take longer, but I doubt by much.  There's also the possibility they know something we don't.  Like a follow up on Bethesda's part and know they'll just have to update right after.  So they might wait.

Only people that know for sure are the F4SE team (God bless them) and those who are in direct contact with them.

Generally agree with you, but FYI the "F4SE team" Is just one guy now. I rolled mine back just cuz it was relatively trivial to do so, and I needed to if I wanted to work on my  Four Play mod in the interim.

i also rolled back on the update. it seems the game is running fine again. I heard there were 6 files that were changed by the update. If you don't replace all of them there might be problems with the menus..

i got them all on the steam forums (page 4): https://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/1473095960825455101/?ctp=4

there also used to be smth on the nexus, but moderators are already cleaning up over there..

EDIT: There might be more than 6 files..  ;)  http://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/1474221865180678250/

EDIT 2: nvm.. see below   vvvvv

The reason for the forced download are consoles: They have to include the files into the game so they aren't counted into the mod limit. For PS4 it is a external assets workaround too.

And "All content must be new and original" can be interpreted however you want.

Creating the same idea from scratch is "new and original" to them. Yes, technically that is true (files are new, and the concept belongs to them anyways), but common sense works differently...

I took the advice of the steam forum and set it to 'only update when I launch the game' which apparently doesn't update when you launch from F4SE so future piles of junk won't be taking up space. Funny thing is there's better versions of all those mods for free too.

yeah f4se is broken, So Its gonna be a case of waiting for that to update, I am sure most of the mods active are safe, since I don't think the new update touched them? (still may be worth reinstalling them just to be sure) but for now its a case of waiting for the SE to update, since you can't roll back to previous versions of Fallout 4.

Well, actually you can roll-back to ver 1.9.4.0. You're going to need the Fallout4.exe, Fallout4Launcher.exe and the libScePad.dll file that the update deleted. There's a thread on the Steam Forum that has links to these files which were provided by Anardion and Crimsonrider.

Edit: Here's the Steam link:

yeah I found that shortly after I made the post, thanks anyway

I am still convinced that the base reason for CC is PS4. For PC and even Xbox, nothing like that is needed - and will not be used. For PS4, this was the only way how to actually get mods with assets to the public. So I do not bother with CC and have no apocalyptic visions like some people.

Idk how the optics are gonna look like for Beth if they all but acknowledge that CC is only solely for PS4 users so that they can get around the restrictions from Sony. I mean are they really gonna end up forcing PC and Xbox users to continue to use CC in some shape or form so that they dont get called out for their bs and end up damaging the entire mod scene in the process.

In 3 months from now when PS4 users realize they are the only ones really paying for mods while everyone else gets it for free what then? Or flip it around and modders only start making mods for CC and by extension PS4 users since they are the only ones really paying for anything. Not to mention the inevitable theft and drama that is gonna come with a hobbyist scene once money gets thrown around.

Eeeesh....way to make a rod for your own back.

If, for example, Square Enix worked with them to create Final Fantasy mods or any other company worked with them to make mods, then CC would be a good idea. But so far it's just poor copies of free mods.

I can confirm for the "lanch by F4SE don't update your game" if set up to "only update this game when I launch it".

I wonder if original mod authors can sue Zenimax/Bethesda for mod stealing ?

Probably not since they own any mods we make for it. It's something to that effect in the TOS.

I'm not so sure of that: In EU anyway, this kind of EULA may be considered as abusing and illegal. So, why not ...

This is BS... is not even real... years ago adobe lost the cause and now file extensions cannot have owners, that's why a lot of programs open .doc .psd etc... ESP is a extension, if you use fo4edit and nifskope, bethesda don't own it, they can own if you use creation kit, and that is a huge maybe, because i don't believe they will try to own anything that other made.

The TOS cannot go bigger them the law, a contract exist as a manual to something that there is no law about it, in that case, there is a lot of laws, different from country to country, they would not be crazy to try anything, and just to make my point... is bethesda, look what they release... anyone really think someone there has a brain???

For the files they put on our PC's, i read somewhere that you can just rename the ESL to ESM and you are good to go, but i still don't try this, for the ESL files, they are not hard to find...

Wait......I'm confused about something...... if you buy the mod on the CC, you get an esp so you can use it. What's to stop people from just sharing the esp?

You don't get a ESP, you get a ESL, a new file that is very limited so you can buy more stuff without any limits like we have for mods.

There is nothing to stop you sharing the ESL.

The fact that they put all the files on everyone computer, just shows that this is not for PC users, is for console users... they don't care for what we do.

Actually, it's apparently very easy to transform an ESL to an ESP.

And this very video actually shows what crap is really this "creation club":

"We've always done a lot of DLC for our games. We love making them and you always ask us for more. To reward our most loyal fans, this time we’ll be offering a Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30," the announcement reads.

"Since we’re still hard at work on the game, we don’t know what the actual DLC will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you'll get it all with the Season Pass."

Dosnt this mean if you have the season pass you get the mods they are Downloaded content ( on disk DLC as it were )  so am i missing something

Maybe this has been answered... If you have 255 esp's running do the CC mods count toward the max number of mods. Like, if I have 255 and buy one, do i need to remover one mod?

All purchased CC mods are in esl format so the esp limit doesn't apply

What? You think Bethesda is gonna limit their sale to only 255 rip-offs per player?  :P

Ironic that free mod users have had to live with the 255 esp limit since Skyrim and Beth turned a blind eye to it, but as soon as Beth starts monetizing mods, they immediately release a workaround to the limit. :D

You never could have 255 mods.

The theorical limits was 254 so far (+ 1 for the game and 1 for the forms that are created during runtime).

Now the theorical limits are 253 esm/esp and 4096 esl.

esl take up the 254 slot. ALL of them as one.

Capped at 4k formid though, which is more than enough for most mods.

I want to take at look at using the esl format for my small mods. Things that really don't care much about load order.

My purifiers mod for example, less than a dozen changes. Why use an esp slot for that?

(to be honest, how many mods actually use 4k formid? That is a LOT of things)
