If you haven't seen I started working on the project currently code named "Untamed 2".

Trying to work around some technical limitations without going all crazy like in the past. One such solution that will fix a lot of things and allow me to do more immersive things will be to have a limit of how many animals can follow you at any given moment. Currently, it is infinite, so I have to do periodic AOE checks to make sure the animals are all configured as they should be. Additionally since they are unaliased they are extremely limited in what I can do with AI packages.

Honestly, I only bring one pet along with me, any more and they quickly get in the way of everything especially in caves. But some of you people are crazy so I want to see what the average pack size is.

I don't really care how many animals you have sitting around at home. How many do you actually take into combat?

More than likely you can still tame infinite animals, but they won't be able to do anything cool until "in your pack" of animals currently following you.

Well, never got into playing the original Untamed (it was a good idea, but to me it felt a bit cheat-y and I was also missing some more substantial mechanics/development), so I can't really tell from experience. Though now with UT2, I may finally go for it; the plans you have for it sound really good, and while vanilla wolves don't exactly tickle my fancy, the ones from True Wolves of Skyrim are too cute to pass up on this, lol :P.

Anyway, voted for 1 follower/pack member because that's probably what I will go for and what I'm comfortable with. Knowing how Skyrim fails works, I would not go for multiple followers for several reasons (stability, engine/scripting stress, and followers constantly getting in your way and/or screwing up otherwise, possible due to the crappy pathfinding/NavMesh system, just to mention some). Taking into account wolves are involved and they are (mostly) pack animals, I'd say 2-3 is a good max if you want to go for a "high" count, and I wouldn't go for any higher follower count for a smooth playing experience. Just my two cents, though.

1 dog normally follows, 1 dog waiting (breed waiting), 1 skeever (waiting), 1 goat (waiting), 1 fox (waiting)

on a previous save I had in 1 DLC house (empty) the above + bear + big cat + troll + deer lol

I typically only take 1 into combat normally. If my swarm is too big either A) I kill them by accident or B) I get 0 experience for leveling my own skills, as my babies murder everything. I keep 1 pet around at all times that I typically make myself keep sated~

*Reads that patreon page "Been impossible to get animators willing to do non-sex animations.".

I'm personally quite interested in creating small (1/2 stage like) non-sex animations, but without knowing anybody will do anything with it I've never quite put a lot of effort into it.

Can't remember ever being asked either for it though  :P

But nice that you managed to find out how to animate yourself, small like miscellaneous animations always add a lot of immersion to mods.

well this is going to be a long process. only doing wolves first. but when all is said and done we will have wolves, bears, and sabercats, and they all gonna need animations. plus if someone is inspired and wants to do some competely off the wall shit like chickens or whatever hahah.

I think i have alot of creatures in my skyrim from immersive creature, skymomod, jackga's stuff, war of the monster, etc, always make them stay in every spot if my girl need their schlong she can lay everytime

In a normal run through I usually have 2 or 3 wolves at a time. Maybe a sabre cat along with a troll or 2.

If I run a necromancer I usually have at least 2 to 3 draugr a couple death hounds and maybe a gargoyle.

I chose 5 for the vote as it's usually between 5 and 6 or too damn many.

The for me, all decisive number is missing *0*!  ;)
I do not need animals as followers, usually a shot and they fall.
I do not even use human followers, My user name says it all *lonely Hunter*.  :P

I generally take 3 with me on quests.

However I currently have 15 total and am working on getting 50.

Any that I am not using are kept in the Beastess lair southwest of Whiterun.

LOL...My lair is filled with Trolls (Teena) or Wolves (Nikki), My Teena Travels with 2 Trolls Most of the time and Nikki takes 5 or 6 wolves with her. Now that I have the Troll from the Dawnstar Sanctuary, I upped his hit points per level and he is the only guy Teena travels with ... But, Nikki likes her pack, more than 6 and it causes to many issues with my game... though I think 5 is a good number for wolves.

"Too fuckin many"   (only one really good beast is all that's needed, especially in tight quarters)

I boinked Sinding in Ill Met by Moonlight (requires the SLEN mod (or similar) to bump with him).   He wouldn't join the pack, but he did knock up my untamed chick (would love to see expanded functionality on birthing as a means for getting better pack mates.  Perhaps a "Breed Me" command which doesn't put them in the pack, but leaves us with a cake in the oven, after vaginal intercourse only.   Although, birthing a Thalmor weinie after anal intercourse would be awesome.  He would pop out with that pissy atitude all Thalmor have, and refuse to join us.   Then, my big cats could tear him apart because that's what we do with all Thalmor.   Gone in 60 seconds, lol).   The new pup was a purebred werewolf who stays in beast form 24x7 (and talks like his daddy).    Examples of fun with birthing below under the first Spoiler...

Rollin and Tumblin:

So, she made it one of her missions in virtual life to create a generational pack of Sinding's brood spawn.  There is Son of Sinding.   SoS 2....SoS 4 (who is apparently gay and wouldn't procreate, and I refuse to give birth for banging him with a giant's toe strap-on).  All are level 100, and absolute unholy terrors when we roll thunder over Skyrim...Werewolf Alpha Sounds, ftw!   Add in Real Feeding, and holy crap, what a gorefest!

The only time I roll with them, though, is when we do raids on road travelers, bandit (or Legion) forts, Silver Hand strongholds, etc, mostly in the open world.   Nefreti is also a Moonlight werewolf, and uses gang feeding for the bonus skill ups (Moonlight Tales feature...beautiful way to level crafting, btw.   Just change the Guardian Stone to whichever of the 3 crafts you're interested in leveling, and go on glorious rampages).   SoS 4 mostly stays home and cooks up Vegetable Soup and other useful stuff (if I take him  on rampages, he always wanders off and does his own thing, which usually includes getting his dumbass killed by Silver Hand or Stendarr agents.  Got tired of reloading, so he's a stay-at-home wolfie now).   So, Nefreti + 3 pure-bred werewolves rampaging across the plains at nights (I use the Adventurers and Travelers mod for more targets on the roads).  Some nights, it was easy to get 50+ feedings on the ring roads around Whiterun in less than 30 minutes.   The "rush" was awesome (especially when the Whiterun Guards came out to "help".  No bounty if staying in beast form). Let the bodies hit the floor!   Indeed...

The Whiterun lair is Nefreti's main rampage staging area, as you can look down clearly on the ring roads, and it comes with a nice cold water shower+pool inside as a bonus (Nefreti lays in the pool to cool "things" off sometimes.   Good time to roll up a fattie and relax).   Mine also has a full crafting area (Solar's Portable Crafting and Storage mods), with lots of extra storage. Conveniently located near the "Your Highness" weed shoppe, and the Whiterun smithing folks for crafting supplies. (note: I keep a small pack of high plains sabrecats in this lair for hunting purposes.   More below under Hunterborn)

The werewolves are normally housed in the Beastess Lair (Lover's Lab mod) outside of Falkreath (given the connection to Sinding). (note: each Beastess Lair has 4-6 region appropriate pack members in residence.   I made Scent of Sex rules for gang-training in each lair, too.  Set off a control trigger, and let the nonstop humping begin.  Then, I can go watch Game of Thrones reruns, or whatever, lol.   Come back in an hour to a full crew of savage level 100s, and Nefreti bathed in solid white from head to toe).

When I do caves or deep dungeons, the one companion I can always rely on is Barbas, the dog.  He is supposed to be Clavicus Vile's best friend, but he entered into conspiracy with Nefreti after she boinked him into the pack.  LOL.   Got to keep the Masque, too.  When she exited behind the shrine, good ole Barbas came running after her (with a raging boner, of course).   Up yours Clavicus Vile, bruhaha.  If only Skyrim had a branch of the ASPCA, ole Clavicus would be in the "doghouse", for realz...but so would Nefreti.

The good news is:   Barbas is actually an unkillable beast companion who just happens to be a demon in a dog's body, and fights extremely well.   Nefreti laid with him to make 2 more Barbas pups (who are also unkillable demon dogs), but I only need 1 for deep dungeon crawls, to be honest.  (note: don't put him in the pack until after getting the next quest objective from Clavicus or the quest (A Daedra's Best Friend) will break, as apparently Barbas loves him some smoking hot untamed pootie much more than questing in Skyrim.  You were warned).

High Times and Misdemeanors:

I also run Cannabis Skyrim on my Untamed profile and have several large cash crops close to the Beastess lairs.  Nefreti goes to town barding sometimes, using the Become a Bard mod, and sells buds now and then, which leads to lots of maintenance humping to recap her untamed level, lol.  And yes, when she goes barding, she rolls with her clams out, putting her untamedness on full display.  Nobody ever did "When the Dragonborn Comes", like Nefreti's smokin hot version. ("Tower, this is Cessna 12765, and I see the landing strip!  And oh my, it is a glorious sight to see!".  LOL)

My main crop (it's frickin YUGE; with over 100 female plants) has a rather large Mammoth guardian on patrol to discourage thieves (the lair near Riften; actually quite scenic there with the fall colors, all those glorious female plants, and one majestic wooly mammoth walking the field, especially at sunrise or sunset).  She boinked the thing into the pack, but sadly there is no actual animation for it.   Was hoping the huge beast would loudly trumpet while blowing Nefreti's mind out through her unmentionables.  Go all Serengeti on her rather hot back side...

No such luck.   Guess I need to find a top shelf creature animator for that deal.

Hunterborn, Untamed style:

I also run Hunterborn on my Untamed profile for a reliable income from pelt sales (and a fun way to level archery).  But there is a freaky cool way to hunt with Untamed.  Go out on the plains and boink a herd of elk and deer into the pack.  Then, bring them back to where 2 of my sabre kitties are laying in wait (requires a pack size of 12; 2 kitties+10 prey for best results).  Then, kick the prey one by one and let the kitties run them down and drop them (2 are awesome to watch in action, as they do rapid flanking attacks on the prey).  Rinse and repeat as needed. Clean and skin all the carcasses.  Head into town (after parking the kitties back in the lair).   Profit.  (when one of my critters takes the dirt nap, I also skin them and make something nice out of their hides and bones.   Well, just because)

And of course, Nefreti hunts game with only her boots and jewelry on.   Don't want to step in something smelly and sticky while hunting.  LOL. In her back story, a nice Sister of Dibella took her in for awhile (when she was a young teenager), and showed her another way, including training her as a Dibellan Defender (in lieu of the normal carnal arts).   When the sister died, she left Nefreti a crate of nice things, including a pair of gladiator heels which Nefreti tends to wear as a remembrance of the kindness the sister once showed her.   Uses the Dibellan Defender mod here on LL, which supports the naked play style of Untamed extremely well.

Also, she gets it on with the smithing lady in Whiterun a couple of times after selling her the pelts (use a merchant mod so they have lots of cash), because she's hot in a rather rustic, "immersive" way (using "The Ordinary Women" and SLEN mods. Just need to give her an untamed patch "down south" next, to make it perfect). The Sister of Dibella did teach Nefreti a few sexy tricks, too.   All work and no play...

Then, go party like it's 1999 with my kitties as their reward, and to recap my Untamed level after laying with a human (OMG).  Also, give most of the raw venison to my kitties as a bonus.    (Anub's creature animations are awesome, btw)

Did I mention Nefreti is a bona fide Bad Girl (insert the song here)?  beep beep...

Untamed, while traveling the north country:

When heading north of the midline, Nefreti tends to wear the werewolf boots, muffler, and gloves from the FurAmorSet(frostfall aware), and the Mantle of the Silver Hand cape (from the mod of the same name).  To complete the picture, she uses the frost armor spell from the Forgotten Magic Redone mod, so she has ice crystals formed all over her exposed bits (Frost Armor gives lots of Frost Resistance btw, and plays well with Frostfall if used).  A glorious look for the snowy reaches, if I do say so myself. (note: she uses the Sporty Sexy Sweat skin texture, and the sweat tends to freeze into a high sheen under the Frost Armor spell, magnifying the "look")

Untamed, favorite love interests:

It's a damned despicable lie that Aela the Huntress is in love with Skorj.   Aela loves Nefreti.   Aela+Nefreti, sitting in a tree...K-I-S-S-I-N-G.  Besides, they do dungeons and rampages together, in or out of beast form (works best with Bijin Warmaidens).  In human form, Aela wears smokin hot heavy armor.  The Dibellan Arts are never far behind, especially after clearing a dungeon and SLEN kicks in.   So hot.  Nefreti also loves the wolf brothers; Vilkas and Farkas.   They run as a threesome, and love as a threesome.  Sometimes staying out in the wilds for days at a time.  Drop a campfire and the linens (well, if Nefreti had any, lol), and, well, nuff said.

These 3 are the only outsiders Nefreti ever allows to visit any of the Beastess Lairs.  Companions, ftw!

All of this requires lots of maintenance humping later though, as they all count as humans in Untamed...

Godspeed on Untamed 2 ...  (did I mention how fond I am of my untamed profile yet?)

I love untamed, its defiantly a mod I always use on play throughs, I usually have 1-2 pack members mostly dogs/wolves cause I find it fits into the whole wild lady theme.

There would be two things I'd love to see in the next untamed especially the wolf part. Theses are just ideas.

1. Expanded Breeding option  - I'd love to see a option where you could choose to breed with a more familiar pack member, perhaps with one you spent more time with mating and have a deeper bond with. It can be assigned to breeding duty like a alpha or breeder title. Maybe a built in optional option to have your pack members mate with you when their and your arousal reach a certain limit to keep you well stuffed with sperm. After when you mate with your breeder pack member there is a chance you become pregnant based on your untamed level as well as the pack members level. An Option to have inflation and birth animations like Soul Gem Oven 3 would be epic(Maybe breast milk + new milk pump from soul gem oven?) ^^). Perhaps having non-sexual romantic animations with pack members could also fit in nicely.

2. Mountable/Rideable Dogs/Wolves I'd really love this option but i'm not sure if its possible, but would be cool to be able to unlock mount able wolves, could also have a option that raises arousal's of both the pack leader and pack members as she rides since her legs are wrapped around the wolves as she sits on them. Maybe different animations of possible different ways to ride would be cool too.

Love this mod and love where this mod is going, can't wait for it. Plus the new milk pump in Soul Gem Oven 3. :)

thanks everyone. here is what i settled taking in the results of this poll, mixed with what i want for gameplay.

there is an important note to note: you can still tame an infinite number of things and leave them around your house or cave or whatever. the limits are how many animals can follow you at once, to be active in combat. animals "in your pack" are actively following you and have access to special perks and abilities that other animals at home don't.

for example, an animal in your pack instantly becomes invulnerable. if their health reaches zero they behave like an essential npc - taken out of combat but not killed. at first i had them protected and that worked well until somehow i kept killing these assholes with my backswings. additionally there will be other perks you can unlock like second wind and such.

post-501843-0-20878400-1501391292_thumb.png

so right off the bat, you can only manage 1 animal. you can then spend untamed experience points on special perks. this is a piece of a chart im working on for the perk trees (no they wont use the perk ui they will use a special totem you can talk to, using dialog trees to apply the perks) relevant to this thread.

offtopic, sorry

it would be really kind of You, if You pulled together all creature animations and created some "creatures only SLAL pack"
I have 4+++ animations which I don't use and I can't delete them `cos those packs have 1+++ animations for creatures...

P.S.
yeah, yeah, yeah, my english sucks

I just followed your progress on Tumbler of Untamed 2, it looks incredible, I really love the option for Cross Breeder and Den Mother along with the skill trees.

I love the option with the trees and how you can progress them as you get stronger and level up.

One thing I'd also love to return is the option to have the pack take aggro away from you as that's very helpful.

Definitely my most anticipated mod so far as I love role playing a untamed character.

Nice, love that feature and glad to see its return.

Btw for Den mother, do you plan on having pregnancy work like untamed 1 or more like Soul Gem Oven 3 with Inflation/settable times/birth animation etc? It would be pretty cool to have birth work like SGO 3 with times that can be set for how long pregnancy will take, maybe speed up pregnancy the higher the level you are?

Really looking forward to Untamed 2, thank you for such a awesome mod. :)

A bit off topic, but not really.. was thinking about this just as playing...  and might be a bit morbid...  but feeding corpses of the slain to your pets to improve happiness?

On topic, ran with 12 wolves at one time...  it didn't end well.

Oh, I just thought of this, there is an animation with the Sabercat which is actually no sex but just a lay down with it... only one I've seen.
