I made a few changes including removing the Helm fix, repacking the hairs, making the packs installable with a mod manager, updating the Elin mannequins for Hearthfires, and trying to make it easier to know what is installed and in what order.

Sky Children uses RacialCompatibility v1.7. If you are also running the Elin race there might be problems. UFO is far from perfect so I'm not all too surprised it's giving you problems.

@lain013

If I'm not mistaken, EBBP is TBBP with humongous breasts. Once I implement TBBP to the custom CBBE bodies, just choose the Silly Huge (breasts) body and you're good to go. Now UNP is a different story...

I'm happy to hear that! I don't mind waiting for as long as necessary as I'm already extremely thankful that you are taking your time perfecting this mod for all of us. I just hope that the hair color I want will be included.

How backwards compatible are the Racial Compatibility versions with each other? Cause it would totally make sense that if one method was not properly forwarded from a previous version into the new one you end up with some bad code there.

Also when you uninstall and reinstall a custom follower, apparently it resets the follower's stewardship, but not the house'. Trying to figure that out but it looks like a dead end so far.

Side bit: Just going through the apachii hairs trying to reedit a companion appearance, and was wondering is it just me or are most of the apachii hairs moved a tad bit too forward resulting in a bald spot at the back?

Posted

@AsteriskCGY

If you are trying to give an Elin companion Apachii hairs there will be clipping (bald spots) that is why the Elins need those patches to rid of the bald spots.

The other solution is to use Nifscope to reposition the hair mesh.

As for the issue with Race Compatibility Improved, this is probably why you had problems...

The difference between the original version and this version is that:

This does not rewrite PlayerVampireQuestScript.pex and CompanionsHouseKeppingScript.pex. So, compatible better with other mods that rewrite these .pex files.

(For example, UFO, Better Vampire, Vampiric Thirst and Dawnguard.)

This includes the bug fix that WoodElfRace and WoodElfRaceVampire were not included in the race list.

And...

If you will overwrite the original version of Racial Compatibility:

The following pex files will not be used anymore, please check file size and delete it if match.

*** IF THE FILE SIZE IS DIFFERENT, IT IS PROBABLY USED BY OTHER MOD. DO NOT DELETE IT. ***

- Data/Scripts/CompanionsHouseKeepingScript.pex: If file size is 28,504 bytes, please delete it.

- Data/Scripts/PlayerVampireQuestScript.pex: If the file size of is 12,622 bytes, please delete it.

- Data/Scripts/PlayerWerewolfChangeScript.pex: If the file size of is 12,475 bytes, please delete it.

So to sum it up, if using Race Compatibility Improved, you don't need those PEX files. However, if using mods, such as UFO, that has rewritten those scripts then you can still use RCI, but you will have to keep the scripts.

When you reverted back to the original RacialCompatibility v1.7 to fix the companions, UFO was able to access and rewrite those PEX files.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, you can still replace RacialCompatibility v1.7 with Race Compatibility Improve while using UFO, you will just need to reinstall UFO.

Ok Trying out v1.8 on a NEW game with NO "UFO" See how it works out!

And like to know what the Armor is in the pic on page 1 under ----------{ New Elin Race - OLD VERSIONS }---------- and where to get it? Ho the One with the 7 Tails?

Posted

@Psychomachina ok cool' date=' which patches?

[/quote']

The hair patches are TRI files and are packed with the Apachii hairs. They are available in a new Elin-Apachii hairs pack I uploaded yesterday.

I was thinking about doing something similar to what you are doing with the companion, but I want to assign different hairs to the mannequins.

The Ahri (9-tail fox) outfit is from Alan's BBP Pack.

I also have another Ahri tail that is much larger. I tried to make the tails and ears selectable in Character Creation like the Elin ears/tails, it worked, but the tails appeared transparent.

Oh found them. They were part of the .bsa file and gets extracted with the rest into the data folder with the other meshes folder, but they're in their own folders that I'll have to move myself.

@Firefly77

I made 2 color patchers for the Elins. Extended Color Slider is either buggy or doesn't deliver what it promises. Anyway, try out these 2 that came out error-free, ElinXTC1 and ElinXTC2. ElinXTC1 contains far more colors than ElinXTC2.

Example - Silver Hair? and Pink

UPDATE: The color patchers will not add a second Elin race in Character Creation, but put the patcher plugin BEFORE the custom body plugin or else you will get the default body instead.

@Speedynl

I'll check it out. I changed the texture path in the mesh because I wanted the meshes and textures in the same folder as the Elin ears and tails. I thought the transparency issue was an error with the new path.

@AsteriskCGY

I packed the files into BSAs because there were a lot of files, especially for the Elin-Apachii pack. Good Luck!

Well this lost me. From what I could google up tri files are 3d meshes so I'll need to dig out a copy of 3dmax to edit it I think. Guess its just moving the center point of the hairs back like 3 units.

I absolutely loved this mod. But now it doesn't seem to like me ever since I tried installing this over it.

This happens both when I load my last save or start a new game' date=' occasionally, my right eye would just disappear. That, and for some reason, I swing a weapon twice in one swing, and every other time I move during the swing. I click once and I hit something twice, I click once and walk in a circle and I hit about 10 times. Finally, all of the names and locations show up as [']'s.

The mods are in the right load order, I've tried re-installing the mods and I've tried even going back to the old version I had to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For this issue I thought you should clean install Elin race once again.

First thing If you have Elin character load in to game with your last save and un-equip everything you wear on than save and exist game.

2nd You must delete every old Elin race mod file.

Delete

--- Elin race.esm

than

----go to your skyrim Data\meshes\actors and delete

-----2chElin and 2chElin fix

than

----goto your skyrim Data\textures\actors and delete

-----2chElin and 2chElin fix

Install NewestElinRace20120616a and all require file again.

A NewestElinRace20120616a do not need other fix file anymore, it came with new fix file version so just install it.

About

ElinRace - ApachiiHair.esm

ElinRace - Use Monli Body.esp

it need original mod mash and texture you must download it or install them.

Since 2chElinArborea came with new Elin armor / cloth, so you do not need other Elin armor anymore delete them or deactivated it.

After install when you load in to game with your last save you may need to adjust your new hair, eyes, ears + tail by type showracemenu in console.

It should wok properly.

I did just that and my eye stopped disappearing, but the race and its description still comes up as []'s and I still have the problem of attacking a million times in one swing, it only happens in 3rd person view, which I use very often :-/

It may be because of the Monli body, but there's a very clear difference in skin tone at the base of the neck, is there a way to fix that?

Finally, does this latest installation remove the original hairstyles? Because they disappeared, leaving empty slots in the hair slider.

Thanks for such a quick reply last time~

Hello Kirisame

The block symbols you see in-game is the result of the game unable to translate any text from a mod made in a different language from the one your using.

The neck seam you're experiencing is because of the texture differences between the head and body (light-color head; medium-color body). I have a few files that are labeled as retextures. I have not used them yet, so give me some time to test them out. Maybe I or somebody else will happen upon a file that will fix the neck seam.

The Elin Race Update does affect the Apachii hairs. I suggest uninstalling the update and continue using the old version that I uploaded earlier (don't forget to install the Elin Race Small file(s). Also, if you like, download the Elin Taint files to add the Tera hairs and ears (they appear on the hair slider).

I don't know why you are having the bizarre attack animations. Have you started a new game to see if it happens then? Sometimes adding any type of updates to a custom race will cause problems and starting a new character/new game will avoid any problems.

Good luck.

EDIT: Concerning some of the hairs not showing up, go to Meshes > Actors > 2chElin Fix > Hair and see if the Apachii folder is there. If not, extract the Elin Apachii Hair Fix and copy/paste the Apachii folder to the above folder path.

In addition, I also upload a patch to the head glitching through the hairs.

I think,I found the cause of the []'s problem. First, I'm using "UNP - New Elin Race with Custom UNP+BBP" and []'s are happen to me, too.

And I've re-installed , acivated each mod step to step.

When I activate "ElinRace DsPSoB Patch.esp"

Please check that .esp and I apologize for my bad english.

Hello Tarael

The DSpSoB custom plugins have been 'fixed' and should stop overwriting the translations with block texts. The updates posted lately contains the translated DSpSoB files.

If anyone still experiencing block text let me know and post what file(s) you installed that you believe is the cause.

I got the Ahri textures sorted out. Apparently I added one too many texture paths to the tail mesh. Here is the results.

Nice. Too bad my game crashes when I bring up the race menu, probably due to a bad save. ABut I don't want to undo progress...

Nope nvm, its just the version of Racial Compatibility I was using again. Course now the problem is some hairs completely bugger out the game when I pick them. Everything turns black. In the CK when picking some hairs I'd get a massive string of error windows

Also the ApachiiHairFemales don't show up. The other Apachii set does, but not the Females one.

Have you tried bringing up the race menu in small indoor place with no other actors, like a small house or a random ore mine?

@AsteriskCGY

The Elin hair packs do not contain the plugins or master files of the original hairs. Here are the Apachii master files for v1.1a and v1.4. I suggest using Wrye Bash to convert them to ESP and use that in CK. If you don't mind your companions mod having Apachii SkyHairs added as a master file then go ahead and use the Apachii ESM files.

EDIT: Not sure if you have Wrye Bash so here are the Apachii master files converted to plugins.

You are welcomed.

Oh that might be it. I have Apachii hair master file, cause I also have the base Apachii mod. But I don't have the 1.1 version cause I deleted it after the upgrade. Which would fail on load if they're tied to that specific file.

Also yes I have Wyre Bash.

And I would surmise to guess that all the other hair packs would require their respective master files to work as well?

What I did was set the Elin_ApachiiHairs as one of the appearance mod's master file to get the hair to show up. But what I'm guessing is I'll also need ApachiiHairs.esm on the list as well for it to work right?

Edit: got a bunch of similar errors like this when loading the model, then also got a problem with the face dds files not being 256x256. Think that buggered out last time due to thing with the appearance mod itself, which I fixed last time by reinstalling the appearance mod. Not a problem in game yet cause I haven't saved the changes, and right now bug fixing more issues. Yay bugs.

Only if you don't mind adding Apachii as a master file. Otherwise, use the ESP to get the hairs to show up in CK (if you can't get it to show up). Once you assign the Apachii hair to your follower you should not need the Apachii plugin when playing.

You could also add copies of the hairs in HDPT and rename them to the race of your follower and link them to the new race (remove any links to the vanilla races to avoid duplications in Character Creation or other potential problems).

Yes, the other Elin hair packs do not have the original plugins or master files. The Elin hairs plugin patches contains all of the mesh and texture paths to the original hairs.

Tomorrow I'll get working on assigning new hairs to the mannequins. I'll pass on any info that might be of help to you.

Also, CK will spit out some errors about 'not finding' or 'can't load' something or other when working on a custom race. I get one or two when I'm trying to preview what I'm working on, but it doesn't seem to be a problems in-game.

Posted

Fixed the other problem. Didn't reorder mods after espfying esm'd stuff and needs companions to load after UFO.

I can get the hairs to show up fine in the CK. Just check them on that open file list and they're there. But the bald spot is still there, and even with the ApachiiHairFemales.esm the hairs themselves don't show on the character model.

Riiiight, because its probably looking specifically for those files. I have Apachii 1.5 installed which uses the ApachiiHair.esm and everything is tied to that. But for those other files needs the 1.1 mod as well. Or something like that? And could using the 1.5 mod built for the vanilla characters cause this balding conflict? Though it seems to show up for the other hairs as well, though for those I'm not sure I have their base packages as well.

Ren and Numenume are the only custom hairs that will automatically appear when creating an Elin and even they show up with bald spots. That is why when I released the Elin patches for those hairs, their own plugins have to be deactivated or else the buggy hairs will show up along side the patched versions.

I have a feeling the Apachii hair mesh needs to be repositioned and maybe new morph files made so that they can be used on npcs. I'll see what I encounter when adding Apachii or any of zzjay's hairs to the mannequins.

EDIT: About Apachii v1.5. The Elin-Apachii hair patches were made for v1.4 so I'm sure you will run into problems if you try mixing the morph files with Apachii 1.5. I'll make new patches for 1.5, but I doubt that alone will fix the bald spots.
